you'll notice something really strange about them, as it doesn't seem to matter how much you spend, you can find one for 60 cents that claims to do the exact same thing. like a forty dollar one, if both

one let alone give it a positive rating, so I thought I'd dig a little deeper further? I have three

screen

protectors in front of me right now, we have a dollar tempered glass one, an unbranded one, we have a 40 tempered glass one from a company called spec and we have an 80 sapphire screen protector from a company .

video, we also have three new iPhone 12s to test, so the first one doesn't look as bad as you think. It has the words Nuke Copyright Brand French on it, which is a little worrying, but when you open the box you realize that we're actually getting two protectors, as well as all the other items you might need, so I grabbed the first iPhone, which I opened everything, disinfected it, then lined up the protector and glued it on. boom now for 40 times that price, unsurprisingly you're getting a little more reassuring packaging with no alarming spelling errors, but here you're only getting like forty bucks for a sheet of glass.

I guess the only saving grace is that if you take our iPhone, what we also get is this stencil tool that basically applies the protector for you and that just leaves us with the 80 watts that it actually says on the back that it's made of 99.99 pure sapphire and this means it's supposedly a nine on the hardness scale versus regular glass which sits at a six, but this is a bit confusing because that's exactly what these other two say. Both screen protectors, the one dollar one and the forty dollar one, say without a doubt that they are also level. nine in hardness anyway, then we take out our latest iPhone and install the sapphire protector, I mean for eighty dollars you almost expect it to install itself, but I appreciate these little alignment tools that come in the box, okay, just before to start destroying things, I thought. true, here we have three completely different levels of screen protectors, surely there will be some kind of massive visual difference, but ironically there isn't, in fact I think the one dollar one is quite well designed, it has a nice little unique cutout for the earpiece and that's it, no interruptions, the forty dollar one has this funky cutout on the top which I assume is there so you don't have unnecessary extra layers of glass on top of your cameras, but it's not the prettiest and then the 80 to be fair.

It looks great, has a similar design to the first, but with the added benefit of edges that simply disappear into the phone, you'd be forgiven for thinking there's nothing here, possibly feeling a wee bit silkier too. tact, but to be frank at this stage I wasn't really sure what I was paying for and if you're enjoying this video the channel sub would be great, it doesn't look like any of them are holding back on the shine. and if anything, the cheapest one had been applied with the best result, even with the sophisticated mounting tools of the more expensive protectors, it still had those little internal bubbles that I couldn't get rid of.

I even tried the sapphire one twice just because I had a backup of the same result, so at this point these two expensive ones really have something to prove, like I'm thinking they better be really strong for me to even think about saying that yes you should spend 40-80 times more on them so I set up a small test setup, in my experience the quickest way to scratch a phone is to place it against another phone so I took a fourth iPhone 12 and used the cameras on the back to simulate what would happen. these protectors if you put them in a full pocket and sure enough the first phone didn't like that, but what was a little surprising, but also I guess at the same time exactly what you expected is that the second protector would be 40 times bigger . the price was just as worn on the third, although in fact it wasn't after I cleaned it, it didn't have a single mark on it, so the sapphire is clearly doing more than just trying to put an exact number on how strong Each of these protectors is I thought it was time to take out the hardness spikes.
There are a lot of tools that are rated from one to nine and basically the higher the number, the greater the ability of the pick to scratch and you realize very quickly that these first ones There are two guards, so for sure For example, with this first one it was fine at level four, level five didn't cause any damage either, but as soon as I got to level six, this was enough to make noticeable scratches, like if you look a little closer. I actually rolled the number six on the right using a level six pick and that seven is what I managed to do with the level seven pick and you want to know the sad part of this, the forty dollar one isn't really any better than it did .
It seems a little tougher, it was still scratching at level six, it was still scratching deeply at level seven, but a little less deep than the damage on the dollar protector, but yeah, I mean, level eight still It will destroy him, long story. In short, everything that is said on the websites and on the boxes of these protectors about them having a hardness level of 9 is quite false, it is almost the limitation of using glass as a material, at least you know that with our level current technology, sapphire works at level 6. I didn't do anything at level 7, I didn't do anything, it was only at level 8 that I started to see some very, very weak marks and it was necessary to choose at level 9, the hardest one I have, so I can create a deeper indentation that places this screen protector right underneath. diamond in terms of hardness now the last thing left to do was a shatter test if you dropped your phone spending more on a screen protector will actually save it this is probably the most important question to answer and that's why I went through a lot spend time thinking about what is the best way to do this because yes, in an ideal situation I would drop all three phones from an identical height so that they land identically on an identical surface, but that is almost impossible to do and if you do , So the slightest human error, such as holding the phone two centimeters to the side, could completely change the way it falls, so I decided to start by holding all the phones flat and tapping them.
The first hammer was from a height of I removed 20 loose centimeters on each of these screens and practically nothing happened, the only thing I noticed was that one of the scratches on the glass protector 40 had become a kind of crack, although the other two seemed fine. So I thought, "Okay, let's do a test with a 16-inch hammer." I really felt the impact on this one and the damage. There was pretty much the same amount of damage on both the first and the second, as if both phones were still fully functional, but the protectors on the top were cracked at the point of impact and at this point I'm really surprised that the sapphire looks like nothing really happened to it, so I took it a step further.
This last test was actually just for a little fun, just because I was curious. To see what the sapphire could do, so I grabbed the biggest, heaviest brick I could find, but this one almost dropped it and proceeded to go out to the first phone. The reason I chose this brick was because it was very flat. and so heavy that I was able to make sure it landed on all of them consistently, so this is what happened with the dollar protector massacre: it's completely destroyed, the entire top left of the screen is gone and the rest might as well It looks like it has been shot and I noticed when I picked it up, as well as the front and back of the phone had an absolute mirror, as well as any assumption about the second phone, well, a practically identical result, yes, the damage is different here. plus the bottom part of the screen that doesn't turn on and the other parts that have seizures, but it has the same level of damage, so there is a very obvious conclusion here: you don't need to spend 40 on a screen protector, yes. you can get fancy packaging, yes you can get a tool that helps or let's be honest sometimes it fundamentally makes the application process more difficult, either way you are buying a sheet of glass and actually a sheet of glass whose manufacturing probably cost five cents, if so I believe.
Many of these companies are simply taking advantage of the fact that people are not willing to take risks with their shiny new phone and are well aware that since you just spent a thousand dollars on this device, they can justify charging you 40 something to protect him, but I know that's not what it's worth, the last thing left to do was just put our good friend sapphire through the brick test and I'll be honest with you, I had no idea what to expect I guess. part of me thought it had survived everything so far, it will probably survive this too, in fact it kind of did, it's still pretty beat up, don't get me wrong, but this is the only phone that still serves its purpose, I took it off. all screen protectors and if you look at all three phones now this one definitely has what I would call a level less damage, probably still not safe to use but at least technically usable so I hope this was helpful.
They say glass screen protectors are bad. I would probably recommend a glass one to 99 people, but what that means is that if you're going to buy a glass one you don't need to spend a lot of money on it, but if you just want to spend a lot of money on a screen protector, then opt for sapphire because it is actually better. Well, surfsharkvpn probably sounds like a broken record at this stage, but there's a reason surfshot vpn is the only channel sponsor I've ever worked with. I see that there are many companies that want to sponsor YouTube technology channels.
I have had other VPNs. I have had shaving companies. I have had makeup marks. But Surf Shark is something I really think about. It is good value for money, there are many VPNs that charge literally thirty dollars per person per month, this costs just over two dollars per month for everyone and you still get the same secure, anonymous internet browsing and the ability to access sites that are usually restricted to In other parts of the world, like the US version of Netflix, I also use this mainly on my Mac, so it's cool that with a tap on the bar at the top I can quickly connect to the last server I I was online when people ask me which VPN.
I recommend it even in person, this is what I say, so check the link in the description and there is a boss code that will give you 83 off and three extra months free. Thanks so much for looking. My name is Aaron. This is Mr. Who is he? boss and I'll see you next time
