I'm really excited about spring crafts and I don't know, I think it's because I used to go to some craft shows in the spring too, so it feels like craft season.

More Interesting Facts About,

dollar tree diy spring decor diy farmhouse spring decorating ideas krafts by katelyn...

The first project I'm going to work on are these small houses. blocks you see in the background. I'm in love with how they turned out using items from Dollar Tree. I was able to make some DIY

farmhouse

blocks that match the spring season perfectly, but can also be swapped in and out to add to each season. or for the holidays or just as normal farmhouse

decor

for this project. I'm using four of these wooden blocks from Dollar Tree, they're actually little drawers, so every time you take the plastic off, there's a little wooden box inside that opens up to indicate that you're able to put something in there and then close it like a little drawer, obviously not sure what you would put in there.

Anything would fall off with that little flower or be exposed, so maybe it's for something small like jewelry or maybe just. for a little kid to paint, but these are perfect every time you pull them apart, you're going to have a larger block and then a smaller one and I'm going to use four of the larger blocks, but I'm definitely going to say those small ones. because I'll be able to make another smaller set of these little wooden blocks to write something else on there, so after removing all the labels and then the smaller box that I wanted to stain, I'm not using real stain.

Since it smells bad in the house and I want something that dries very quickly, I'm using mixed brown chalk paint and then I added a little bit of water and mixed this in and this will act as a stain and then I'm going to paint this directly on the blocks. I even went so far as to stain the inside just to make sure that if they were stuffed with anything, like lifting them up or knocking them down, they would all look the same and higher quality. If they weren't unfinished on the inside then I want them to look really rustic so I'm going to take a piece of my sandpaper and just sand over these you can see it exposes the natural edges and gives them a rustic look and then I wanted to write the word home and since I'm giving a little spring touch to all of these projects, I wanted to use this flower, which is also from Dollar Tree, in the craft square section and easily removed the small flower head and stem from the flower in the pot is something I can save for a later project so I won't waste it, but I love this little flower head like Oh in the house and then to get the other letters.
I'm using the adhesive banners from Dollar Tree and simply applying them to the front of the blocks. If you like that look, you can definitely modify those sticky letters and leave the letters black. They're really pretty that way, but I wanted the lighting in all of my spring

decor

to have a lot of whites and light or lighter colors, so I'm going to use a little bit of my white chalk paint, remove some and lightly brush this block and I'm trying to pay attention around the letters, so I'm really applying a lot of glue over the top of the letter and then around the edges, I'm kind of brushing them, but I want some of that brown to be exposed and then I'll be able to remove that sticker and you will be able to see the letter that remained.
I've always had good luck with these adhesive signs so you don't see any bleeding, but if you have different adhesives that doesn't work as well. I'm told you can put a coat of Mod Podge over them and then you can paint it and it gives you sharper lines and doesn't let anything bleed under your stickers, so for the flower block I still want it to coordinate with the other blocks and I wanted to add a little bit of white to it, but you can see I'm just touching it with the white paint and then I'm going to put my flower there.
I also painted. the flower head is white and then I'm using a little bit of my brown color and going around the petals to give it a little bit of definition and the flower doesn't fade away. I'm going to hot glue mine on. but you can always buy an extra block and go ahead and put the O on it so you can change it up or you can even go as far as putting a piece of velcro on the back of the flower and changing it up with some seasonal decorations. But I am very excited with the result.

The next thing I have for you is this little sign that was inspired by a Hobby Lobby sign. The Hobby Lobby sign is a little smaller. but I loved the beads and flowers painted there. I thought it was beautiful and knew I could create this for just a couple

dollar

s using items from Dollar Tree to make this sign. I needed a sturdy piece of wood that I could paint on. I'm using this rectangular piece and I go ahead and remove the little wooden heart so it's completely flat and I'll paint the background later. I want to go ahead and remove the sticker because this side is a side that I'm going to To paint my design I heated it with a hair dryer because this helps the sticker come off much more cleanly and not leave such a mess that I have to try to scrape off, so this is what I'm going to paint.
This is the Hobby Lobby sign has a beautiful wooden frame and then white beads and these little painted flowers and it has love in there. It also says other little words under love, but I'm not going to write them down. I do not want this. to look messy, but I'm going to put emphasis on the flowers and the little beads, so the first thing I want to do is imitate that wooden frame. I get asked all the time what these little palettes are that I use and pick up these craft squares. Pack of 6 and they are perfect for painting, but they are also inexpensive, so if you accidentally let all the paint dry and can't remove it, you can throw them away and get another one, but I'm starting with the truffle. brown paint and I'll give the outside side of this sign a nice coat.
I will do the exterior with what is above and then the interior that I would change. I would change Paul. I want it to look like real faux wood, so I wanted to add a little bit of dry brushing, so I'm taking a little bit of my mineral beige color. I'm going to apply it lightly on my brush, but go ahead and apply it to a piece of paper so I can lightly brush in some light. stripes around the edges of these walls next I'm going to paint the inside white so I make sure I go ahead and paint that outside brown first because you can tell I would put it all over white if I started with white, but I'm going to go ahead and get as close to the sides as possible.
You can definitely tape this up, but I'm going to get as close as possible. I recommend placing a smaller brush around the edges just to have more control in the next step. What I'm going to work on is the hits. I picked up this 125 wooden bead bead from Dollar Tree and I'm going to choose the larger beads. What I love about this sign is that they had a string of white beads. on a white background and I thought it was a perfect subtle way to add so much texture and it added so much detail and I think it was beautiful to be white on white so that's really what I was going to try to achieve. here, so I'm going to go ahead and string the larger beads onto a piece of jute twine.
I couldn't find any rod or skewer stick that was small enough to fit in these little bead holes, so I'm just putting it in. a piece of jute rope. I go ahead and lay them out and then I can take this outside and spray it with my ultra flat white spray paint while I take it outside and let it dry. I wanted to go ahead and paint these beauties. little flowers and they look pretty simple and don't have a lot of detail so I go ahead and let it dry completely and then I bring it in and I want to lay everything out so I can see how So far I need to paint the flowers.
I also ended up using the love sign from this Valentine's 3-pack. I had these left over and they are from Dollar Tree, but you can handwrite it or print it out. I love it. sign or use the wooden letters from Dollar Tree and after I have everything in place I can see exactly where my flowers need to go and I'm just going to draw some small tulips and the Hobby Lobby sign had a couple big ones and then some smaller ones in the middle I think this moss color in the Waverly paint was a perfect color to add to this sign, so I started with that, using a larger brush on the two largest stems and then switching to a smaller brush. so I can get very fine lines on the smaller tulips, this waterfall blue color is my absolute favorite blue color that I have found in Walmart paints and it is folk art and I think it is just beautiful and it dries beautifully, it is in the medium of not being Too bright to be a turquoise paint, not too light and not too dark, thus cutting out the two largest tulips and then the sign had some yellow ones, but I don't love yellow in my decor so I will change it to pink blush because that is definitely my favorite color, my pink paint was very thin so between coats I go over it with my heat gun.
I'll link it below if you want to pick one up, but it was really easy to go over that and let it dry and be able to add another layer really quickly. I'm going to hot glue my beads. I didn't get my beads perfect in the close up shots, you can see on the inside, you can see a little bit of the pink paint, but I still think they are beautiful like this and I didn't want to take the time to hand paint them so The next thing I'm going to do after hot gluing my beads is cutting off the excess thread and then I'm going to make some little Daini bows.
I know this isn't on the original Hobby Lobby sign, but I thought it would make it really cute and girly and add a little extra decoration and it would look like this little bead that Garlin was hanging. For these cute little bows I didn't like how the stainless steel of the love sign looked so I want it to look more galvanized and rustic so taking a little bit of my elephant color I'm just going to apply it there and you can add a little white If you want it to look really galvanized, I'm going for a rustic look and it was perfect.
I wanted to add a slightly darker tone to it and this is how it turned out. together, I personally like it better than the original Hobby Lobby sign. I think it's a gorgeous piece and it's perfect between homemade and store bought, but as a perfect little feminine touch of spring decor and moving on to the last project, I made a shadow.box using a boring

tree

shadow box and making it more farmhouse-like and a cute way to display some spring flowers, but I also think I'm using artificial flowers in this project, but I also think it would be wonderful if you could use something sentimental . flowers or real flowers that you have dried and display them in this box that you can leave out all year for this DIY.
I needed a shadow box. I found this one at Dollar Tree. It had these gold stars on there. It was very nice. putIt had two small photos but it was perfect for what I needed it for so I'll go ahead and start by removing the backing and you can see it has this deep insert where you can put your photos on the back. but the confetti can still move. I just removed all the gold stars and then had to take a small screwdriver to remove the four screws so I could remove the back plastic piece and be able to remove the glass.
I wanted to paint all the plastic brown and I wanted to make sure it didn't smear the glass and have to mess with that, so it was perfect. I took it apart. I go ahead and screw it back in so I can paint everything that's going to be exposed on the sides and then I'll replace the glass when I'm done. I'm using the same paint I used before. I'm going to paint the base coat like truffle brown chalk paint and then I'm going to distress it with some beige mineral color, after I let everything dry completely I go ahead and remove the screws again so I can put the glass back in there and then I can screw it back on. together and completely finish this part.
I have some gorgeous scrapbooking paper from Hobby Lobby that has a small print on a cream background. I wanted this as a background. I thought it would make it look a little worn. fancy, so I cut the perfect square after tracing the shadow box background and then I'll modify it towards the back so it stays there and still looks like a shadow box after gluing it. I keep going. and add another thick layer of Mod Podge. This is not satin just because I didn't want it to be super shiny on the back and then for my flowers, I have these beautiful purple tulips from Walmart.
I'm going to use these. I think mine were a little big for this frame, so they end up a little mangled. I still think they turned out very pretty, but so did some smaller flowers. I had some roses from Walmart that would also look really pretty in this frame. I thought and I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I thought these purple colors were super bright and fake looking so I wanted to add some texture there so I'm going to take some of my lavender chalk paint. and lightly brushing there, I actually took a baby wipe and removed a little bit of paint just to lighten it up a little bit and I'll make sure to paint that little fake looking yellow plastic piece that was holding it on. all the way to the stem, but this just made it look more rustic farmhouse to me, toning down the colors a bit and not looking like shiny plastic.
I added a little hot glue so I could place the leaves where I wanted them to go and more or less. adjust it to fit inside the frame and then I'll add a loop of thread to the bottom. I always make these yarn loops by wrapping them around two fingers several times. I pull the little threads to the bottom and then I can tie it off. in the center with this, another little piece of force and then all I had to do was put the backpack there. This was very tight. I was nervous about breaking the glass, but I was very careful and tried to apply a small amount of I pressed just so I could close the back, but that's how it turned out, like I say.
I think this would be a wonderful way to display some real dried flowers too or whatever color artificial flowers you have. Thank you all so much for joining me today, I had a lot of fun with all of these projects and I think they are all, like I say, geared toward spring, but they can definitely be used year-round, especially if you want to tone down some of the colors and match more with your style. everyday decor, so as always, let me know in the comments which of these projects was your favorite.
