May 29, 2021
Hello, I am very glad that you can join me today. I have another fun

decoupage

dollar

tree

decorating project to show you this

bunny

with a box and a little fence. I got everything from the

dollar

tree

and about a week ago. I took a tour and it included the dollar tree and the general dollar and target. If you didn't see it, go to my channel diy

decoupage

with joan jean-marie domino. There are many videos there. Why don't you subscribe? You press the bell. down there so you get a notification every time I upload a new video and share it too, okay let's start making this funny

bunny

, okay, here's my dollar tree bunny, first let's remove the tag, we're not going to need it, Alright. just set that aside, let's put a coat of paint on it.

I'm using Rust-oleum pink chalk paint. It comes in a fairly large container, so I put it in small containers like this one, it's easier to use. Now, this oxide-oleum paint comes in large containers and I don't normally buy colors. Normally I only buy white and ivory, but I was in a store called Homesense, which is like home goods, they had a sales area and this one was eight. dollars for a pretty big container, so I paid the eight dollars, brought it home and I loved it and when I was picking out a color for my bunny I decided this was the color I was going to use, you don't have to use this one.

Exactly pink, you can use any of the pink ones you have or yellow or green, whatever you want, it will be your bow, okay, my bunny is all dry and now I'm ready to put the mod

podge

on it. Now the mod

podge

that I use is the matte formula, I use it 95% of the time, I don't need to use many others with different finishes because my sealer determines the final finish, whether it is glossy or satin, so I will open the bottle and I will put it everywhere and spray it all over and I like to use these little dollar tree bottles when I'm doing something this big because it makes the job so much faster and so much easier.

Okay, now the method I'm going to use to apply the

napkin

in this case is called the

iron

ing method. It's one of my favorite methods. If you've never seen any of my videos, you might be wondering what a plank is. Well, the

iron

ing method is when we actually do the decoupage and the glue is dry, it's a lot of fun, that's why it's one of my favorites, it has really good results, so I'm going to pay a lot of attention to the edges which is important for the finish final my first coat of mod podge is completely dry and now I'm putting on my second coat and I'm putting it on exactly the same way I'm using that amazing little bottle that I bought at the dollar tree and I'm brushing it on and I just want to remind you that because to the method we're using, which is the ironing method, you just want to make sure you get all the edges because when we remove the excess

napkin

, you don't want it to tear or lift, okay, my second layer of mod podge is still wet, so I'll put it aside and move on to the flowers.

I'm going to put three. flowers between the bunny's ears this is the flower I chose however I felt the pink was too bright so I decided to tone it down by adding a little bit of paint and the paint color I chose is ivory so I'm just going to put a little bit on my brush and I'm just going to go over a little bit of that pink, not all of it, I just want to tone it down. I want it to look a little more vintage or country. I just think it's going to look good. to look better with the napkin I chose and by the way I bought these flowers from the hobby lobby and I bought them out of season.
I bought a whole bag for like a dollar. Okay, I'm going to do all three and I'll be right back, the second layer of Mod Podge is now dry, so we can go ahead and put our napkin on. This is the one I chose, it's from Dippies Designs. When I saw that they had buffalo paintings, I was very excited. I'm going to open it up and this is going to fit the whole bunny. This is a lunch size napkin and I'm going to separate the napkin because when we do decoupage we only use the printed top layer, I just put a little bit of mod podge between my two fingers and I'm going to go up like this and I can remove both okay okay okay because you're going to see we're not going to see that okay sometimes that happens but you're going to see we're not going to put it on the bunny, it's big enough so we're going to line this up as best we can.
The only thing about buffalo plaid is that it has stripes and you have to try to get it straight so I can't see it completely, but I'm going to do the best I can and see the tear, there's nowhere near where I'm going to iron it, It's okay, I use an iron. craft iron, I'll bring it here it has a nice little tray that it sits on, this is cricket, I'll show you, you don't have to use a craft iron, you can use your home iron if you want. I iron a lot at home, I use it almost every day, so I have everything right.
I'm still trying to line it up. This looks good. The next thing we will do is put a piece of baking paper. on top so I'm holding the napkin in place, I just want to say that parchment paper there is a difference in quality. I used parchment paper made by reynolds because the dollar tree I don't know if this happened to It kept sticking to the napkin where when I use Reynolds not only does it not stick I can use it like three or four times so it actually doesn't cost more if I use it you think like this, okay, so I'm going to take my plank I'm going to start from the center and I'm going to come out like this I'm going to keep moving this is a little different from other things I've done in the past because it's not square or round This has small ears and feet, so I have to be a little more careful when I do the edges while I'm doing this and remember, uh, safety first.
Let's put this here. I'm just going to choose. Up and take a look at my edges as I go because now it's attached and it looks pretty good, let's take a look, sorry for the noise, okay, let's go down to the bottom now same thing, okay, this is where they are the feet. I'm just going to take a little look like this, okay, well done, this is a fun project, I don't think it's very difficult to do and it doesn't take a lot of time, but not everything we do has to be full of all kinds of tips and everything, I just like to do things that are fun, you know,

spring

is coming and I can't come soon enough because we have like a foot of snow outside, it's fun to do projects like this, okay, let me show you this here.
Okay, I'm going to take a look at this to make sure all the edges are facing down. Good, and remember that the iron is hot. Well, let's take a look. Now you can really see the outline of the bunny. Well, it looks like here. I'm going to have to do a little more with the ear, but okay, my iron is still on, let's see everything else looks pretty good, okay, let's go back and do that here, just pick it up, take a look at it, I've got it you see. just do that, actually I'm going to do a little bit more around the edges just to make sure that when I remove the napkin I don't use a scissors, I'll use a nail file and if you don't get all the edges when you go to remove it, some of the nap can come loose, it's not that it's a catastrophe, we can fix it, but you know it's better if it comes, you know it's done right. way the first time, okay, let's take a look, I love this, okay, let's see, it looks good as I sand this, if I see any edges appearing, I'm going to stop and I'm going to put some glue underneath. a little bit of the mod podge, okay, this is how I'm going to remove the napkin, okay, I'm going to use a very brightly colored nail file, of course, it doesn't have to be like that a lot of times I use sand. sponge I'm not using the support sponge on this particular wood because it's more fragile so this is definitely the way to go so I'm going to show you how to do it right you're just going to hold it and that's it I'm just going to go like this down and while I do it, a lot of glue on the edges is going to separate like this, look how nice and clean, that's a little tricky because, again, it's not square, but we'll get it all done.
Well, I finished removing all the edges and it was a little tricky in some spots, so if you want, you can use scissors. You don't have to use a nail file, but now I'm going to use the sand sponge. Since I'm going to roughen the edges, I want to remove a little bit of the napkin because I want to give it a more vintage look. Something that's not new and that came from the store, so I'm going to do it very carefully. around the edges and I'm going to keep checking it as I'm doing it just to make sure I'm not removing too much, so I'm going to say that when you use this method you just have to be very careful when you peel it off. less at first and then if you want to do more then you can do more so it's always best to start with a light hand just like I'm doing so I'm going to go over the whiskers and the legs.
Basically, I do everything. I'm also going to rub the top because I want to remove some of the shine. I'm going to take a little bit off the napkin, but I think you'll really like it. By the way, this looks good, so I'm done sanding it, I'm just going to hold it and tilt it a little bit and point out that what I did was I just roughed it up, just roughed up the edges just to give it more. vintage style and I see here too, I just removed a little bit of the napkin, okay, now we're going to move on to the next two things, which is to put the flowers here between the ears and also the little bow on the front, okay, so these are dry and you can see, here's one that I didn't make.
You can really see the difference and I really think it's too bright, so I think it worked better, so let's put them on and add the safety to my glue gun. stick it in there, okay, I'm going to start with the center right here, I'm going to press it down and while I'm holding it, if you notice my finger here on my left hand, if you hear that little voice inside your head, say that's better. Don't do that, you'll get hurt, listen to it, okay, next one, okay, I'm going to put it next to it. It looks so pretty, so

spring

.
I love how they look with pink. With the pink paint it really shows. okay, okay, one more, okay, I'm going to put it under this one too, that's why I always do the center one first, okay, it's very pretty, look at that, I love it, okay, now for the bow here, um, under the little one. The bunny face now I'm not a big bow person, it's not that I don't like them, I just have a lot of trouble making them, so I finally found a technique called messy bow and that works for me and what it is, and again.
This is not my forte, I'm not a pro at making bows, you take pieces of ribbon, sorry, and you just place them on top of each other with a piece of wire or something I'm using here like a tie. actually bread because that's what I had and you just cut it into different lengths and different colors and start putting them on top of each other. I looked down at my craft supplies to see what I had so I could make different colors, even though they're like bright colors, I don't know, it works, whatever project you're doing, it's just a really cute technique, to Whoever came up with this look, I've had enough, really.
I thought of something

easy

and nice to do, so I'm going to take the lasso and do this. I'm going to twist it to keep all the little pieces of tape together, oh boy, okay. I'm going to rotate it, I'm going to hot glue it anyway and there you can see you just move it around once I have it on, I can also cut out some of these, okay, so let's glue this in a little bit. hot glue, okay, put it in the middle like this, look how cute it is, it's a little long. I'm going to have to cut out some of those, but I don't like this, so I'll take a piece of tape.
I'm going to make a little bow like this, look, I can make those kind of bows, okay? I'm going to cut it like this. I'm just going to put a little bit of glue on there, try not to burn myself and I'm going to put it on top like this, it's cute, a little long, I'm going to trim them, but very, very cute, okay, so let me trim them and when I come back we're going to work in the box on the crepe, the box goes. to go ahead of the bunny now this box and this box both came from the dollar tree and to be honest I couldn't really decide between the bigger one or the smaller one and I did decide on the bigger one and you See why when I get to the end of the video okay so I'm taking uh this is with delta paint it's called trail tan and I'm going to paint the box so I just threw some brown paint right on the The box and the box the dollar tree creates this dollar tree wood, they seem to absorb the paint pretty quickly and it also dries very quickly, but it doesn't really matter, I'm just going to apply one coat to this, it won't be necessary. two layers, anyway it will have things inside and things in front and it will look very, very pretty, I just want to make sure I go all the way around and I want to do the top and then I'll be ready to move on to the next step, it's coming out very nice.
I like it, so my box is completely dry and I'm ready to adhere it to the bunny and I like that it actually fits right between the two legs of the bunny. I really like that it worked out that way, okay? I'm going to add glue to the box and you can see I didn't paint that side because you're not going to see it anyway and of course I'm running out of glue but that's okay there's enough glue to stick. the money soI'm going to put it against the bunny and then I'm going to hold it with my fingers because I want to make sure it sticks really well.
I love this bunny. I think you can hang it on the wall. if you want or it would look really cute sitting on the counter I like it it really came out well now that I'm out of glue I'm going to put a glue stick in my glue gun and what I use is the Gorilla Glue Sticks I've made them Been using them for a while and I have to say I really like them. They do a good job and the glue I think seems to be a little stronger than other glues I have used in the past.
So now let's get to the point where I want to add the fence around the box. These are some ice cream sticks. I bought them at Home Depot. I cut them in half, painted them white and I'm ready. Put them on, so now that I have glue in my glue gun, I'm going to put it along the wood and then I'm going to press it against the crepe and hold it there to make sure it stays and then I'm going to finish putting the rest of the box, everything is ready, I add the rest of the fence and put a little sign on it that says rabbit farms, they don't sell rabbits, you just have a lot of rabbits. you just want to make sure you know and that's just a little piece of cardstock and I wrote that it's just my own handwriting I put some filler inside I thought, okay, what can we put inside?
Well, you know, if it's Easter, then you certainly could. some eggs, are actually decoupage eggs. I have a video for that, if you want to learn how to do it and it looks really cute, I have to be honest, this wouldn't work in my family, so I think one of the things you can do is to put

candy

in it, especially if it's in your counter, put all kinds of sweets. My family would definitely love something like this so I think you should make this and if you like making it I have lots of other videos on my decoupage diy youtube channel. with Jewelry Domino, you should definitely subscribe, hit the little bell down there when you hit the bell, you'll get a notification every time I put up a new video, like it and you know I also have a group page on Facebook. which goes along with my youtube channel and has the same name.
