DO NOT TRY Car Window Tinting until you watch this - PROFESSIONAL TINT TRAINING | TINT COURSE

Jun 08, 2021
So before we get into the practical side, there are just a few things you need to know about

window

films in general. Now, the

window

film is first prepared on the outside, cut and shrunk according to the shape of the glass, and then installed on the inside. Now we can access the window film in two layers, we have a backing sheet and the window film itself, now once you peel it off and remove it, the window film will be very sticky, so if you try to put the film on the glass, it was sticking instantly so what we need to do is spray that sticky side of the

tint

with soap and water and that will allow the film to slide and slide a little bit so we can move it into place now that The backing sheet is also used to protect the film from dust and contamination so as soon as you remove it and remove all the dust from the amination it can potentially fall on the adhesive side of the film and then if the install, it will be in the

tint

job forever, so

this

is why we have to be as fast as possible.

What's taking off that backing sheet now? The way window film shrinks, it can only shrink up or down. You can't shrink window film from the side, so when you unroll it, the roll is designed to only shrink up or down and the way the window film will shrink is when you are warming your fingers or the spears. Now that they are both the same, I will refer to them in the

course

, whether they are fingers or spheres, but again. They are both exactly the same and what they show is that the film does not shrink to the shape of the glass, so it shows that it is uneven and these fingers need to be shrunk to make the film the same shape. from the glass to the water that will be sprayed on the sticky side of the film as soon as the backing sheets are peeled is soapy water, soapy water very important, now what soapy water does is it offers a slip if we just try.

To install the film with just water on the sticky side of the film it will just stick right away and we will have no movement so it's soapy water now with the soapy water it doesn't really matter what soap you use as long as you don't It's nothing special, the more expensive soap you get, the better ingredients they will have and the more stuff in them, so you want to keep it nice and simple so you don't get chunks of it. the movie so I like to use Johnson's baby shampoo now obviously

this

one will be for babies so there will be no chemicals or ingredients and I like to use four squirts per liter so I remember when I started I really thought this It was an exact science, but it really isn't, so four small squirts is nothing excessive per liter now, if you use too much soap the film will slide everywhere and take a while to dry.

Now soap can depend a lot on the time of year, so for example if you are in Florida in the United States it will be very hot so you may want to offer more soap in the bottle so that it slips more or if It's very cold and If you're in Norway, for example, you'll want to remove less soap from the film. It won't dry as quickly as it would in Florida, so again it's best to figure out what you find right for you. Another really important question is which direction the film should go, so when you place the film you want to make sure that the side of the backing sheet is always facing you because if the main side of the batten was on the other side when you just placed the movie.

Cut it and shrink it, then you have effectively cut it and shrunk it upside down, since the sticky side should be facing me, you'd better turn it around and stick it to the inside of the glass, so if it's upside down the sticky side will be facing outwards and in a moment the inside will not stick, so again we need the backing sheet to be in front of us all the time when we are working with the film. Now a quick way to test this is to spread it out a little and see which direction your film maker has placed the backing sheet.
Now most film companies will always put the backing sheet on the outside of the roll, but there are a very few select companies that will actually put the backing on. sheet on the inside of the roll, so you only need to do a test to know which direction it is facing. Now I'm going to quickly show you a test just to show you the two different types of window film, so I'm going to go over how important it is to make sure the backing sheet is always in front of you and I just want to show you a quick practice so that you really can understand it, so we're going to tint this window here and I'm just going to show you the difference when the backing sheet is on the wrong side, so I'm going to tint this window completely normal and then I'm going to peel the film off, I see that the backing sheet is on the wrong side so I peeled the film from here then when I go to stick the adhesive side against the glass it is upside down so it had to be like this but again this side has no adhesive, the adhesive is on this side, so we have to make sure that the backing sheet is always facing us now this time.
I know the backing sheet is facing me, so when I cut it, I peel the film because the backing sheet is on this side, it will peel off here and then it will be upside down, so this is why. It's very important to identify at the beginning which direction to roll the film because we need the backing sheet to be in front of us all the time, so I want you to do two practices before you start and the first is to practice cutting the film. Important, we are going to cut the glass, but we will use stainless steel blades.
Very important, the stainless steel blades have to be made of stainless steel so that they do not scratch the glass. If you try to buy a cheaper version. from your local Home Depot or something, they can scratch the glass, so make sure you get

professional

stainless steel blades. It is very important that they indicate the stainless steel on the box and they will also inform you on the sheet itself. the mark, so what we're going to do is just place a not too large piece of film on this risk screen. Now we're going to need to apply soapy water just to get the film to stick to the back screen while we're cutting it, so we're going to take our spray bottle and spray it a little bit.
Remember there has to be soapy water in your bottle, so just in the corner so we're not there, wasting too much film. I'm going to roll up a small piece like this, now it's going to slide quite a bit, so in order to stop this sliding I'm going to have to anchor the film, so I'm going to use my 3m hard card. Push the water out now, it doesn't move at all. Now with this you have to make sure that you comply with the angles that I'm going to say, so you have to be below 30 degrees at all times, the lower you are. glass with the angle of the blade you are less likely to be discreet the glass and how we hold the knife is up to you how you feel comfortable I personally just hold it with my thumb just squeezing the knife but some people like to put their finger on it just to get that extra pressure, so the first step we're going to do in this process is just practice cutting along the heat lines so they grip my knife.
I'm going to put it three. four clicks again. I hold my knife like this. I keep my movement nice and low, only about ten degrees. Here I'm just trying to cut along that heat line, so the first thing you want to see is if we cut all the way through the. film there so we can see I cut all the film and when our trained staff we can spend a few hours just practicing cutting the film because you just have to get the right amount of pressure and the right angle so again if The blade of your knife is too open, it will dull very quickly and then scratch the glass, so we need the knife to be below 30 degrees.
Now I just cut my angle was about 10 degrees so the lower I go the better. it's going to be and we're going to try again just below and then it cuts there so if it doesn't cut you need to apply more pressure because it's quite difficult to find the right pressure to use now you don't want to just press as hard as you can because yeah it will always cut , but then you'll run the risk of dulling the blade, so if we pass the first test and now we're just going to cut out some shapes, so I'm going to cut a square on this heat line here so long here, just keep the rats on this throughout the entire square cutting process just to make sure you get the perfect pressure when applying the knife to the film on the glass, so if you know how hard it is to press and you feel like the knife is getting dull, it just doesn't get through the knife blades, they actually come with 13 sections to break so what I do is I use a cloth and I'll push my blade so it's always facing down and then you can just break the blade and again you'll get 13 cuts of the blade so so effective that it can do this 13 times, so we cut squares now.
We recommend cutting squares all the way through, cut at least 20 squares until you're happy that you have the right pressure, so now we have all of our squares cut out and as long as you're happy and feel like you're ready to move on, when you're ready to move . So we're done with a piece of film that we have here, we're just going to remove this and paste it here and we're going to anchor this top section here and we're just going to have a practice. when peeling off the backing sheet, so we give it a little spray.
Now this only offers a little bit of slip and we're just trying to scratch the backing sheet. I've been here before, believe it or not, for 10 minutes waiting for someone. Removing this old number when you first start can be very frustrating, but as with all things, it will get easier the more you do it, so what we are going to do, we will start here, remember that the movie has to be the right way so you can peel off the backing sheet on this side, so I'm just going to gently scrape the top off being very gentle.
I'm just trying to get the tip of the backing blade out here, so this is just a handy way. to do at the beginning and it's just a very simple stage just to understand the backing sheet and how it comes off, so we peel off this section, now we'll cut a square, then we'll do it again here and we'll do it. cut a square and then Pratt this again here, now you just want to do this again until you're comfortable and you're ready to move on to the next stage, so it's just a quick practice, but I wanted to go through the review so you can write.
You need to get the basics of window

tinting

down, so another very important thing is the drying process. Now I'll explain it like I would explain it to a client so they can know the full breakdown. I'm going to start from the beginning. I know I've already covered a little bit of this, but again, this is just my full breakdown that I've done so many times, so the window film is installed on the inside, now it's installed with soap and water and it's going to take a while. . The water dries completely behind the film, so there is something called drying in process.
Now, within that drying process, the window film is going to look watery, so it's very important that you can tell the difference between water and air. Water will always dry our Air is white bubbles and will never dry so if it is water and the bubbles are completely transparent from the inside and outside and then you know it is going to dry but the air bubbles are secret from the Inside from the outside, it is a white bubble. So again you will have water bubbles and it can take three to four weeks for the film to dry completely, so even if you take out all the water from the beginning, they will congregate again and it is part of the drying process, so what from the outside.
When you look at the film, it will look quite blurry and patchy, but again, this is all part of the drying process and will resolve itself in three or four weeks, depending on the current weather on the edge of most vehicles. They have four black ceramic edges, this is known as a dot matrix, it is a raised surface, it is built into the glass and cannot be removed, the window film cannot move in and out of each of these dots, so What will happen when it dries, you will have a white border around it and it will be like a halo.
This is completely normal. On some vehicles it will stand out more than others, but again, this is a dot matrix surround. first install the film it will look quite bumpy so you will see some spots where it has a white border and then some spots where it is completely transparent now where it is transparent that is because there is so much water there it is hiding the air so which once it dries, will have a border around it. The drying process is very important. You may need to look at this sectionseveral times so you really understand, especially when

tinting

your first car.
Come back to this section just to make sure what you're seeing is actually normal. Now window film will always look worse than ever as soon as you dye it.
