More Interesting Facts About,

diy ikea hacks that are shockingly easy yet look high end...

I have a free printable and it actually comes in four pieces, so we'll have to take them apart and put them together, but it's a document stamp and I think it will look great. really cool, all we are going to do is print the printable and then tape it all together, now my original plan was to use this printable as a template and use graphite paper to transfer the image to this pillowcase, which is the same . technique I used for my bohemian named bag I made for Christmas and it worked great, unfortunately this didn't work this time on this pillowcase and I think it's because the fabric has a lot more texture and hence the graphite. the paper just didn't transfer the image no matter what I did, I even tried rubbing the back with a pencil lead and see if that worked, it didn't work either so I'll still provide you with the printable in case you go.

Trying to recreate this look using canvas drop cloth because I think it will work well based on my past experience, but if you're still going to use the ikea pillowcase, what I ended up doing was creating a template. using permanent vinyl and placing it on the canvas now this is not heat transfer vinyl because I don't want it to be permanent. I then use a gold marker which actually ends up looking a bit tan on the canvas which is perfect and filled in the stencil, now I put something between the pillow to prevent any possible bleeding, it's quite a thick fabric so it doesn't really He bled too much.

Now you can use a black marker or even a gray marker, but for my color palette, that gold marker looked like a Little Bronzy was perfect now, if you don't have a vinyl cutting machine and still want to use the Ikea pillowcase, you can Get a template of your choice at any craft store and simply fill it out using the same technique once you're done. Filling it up, I took it off and put a pillow on it and it looks amazing. I am very happy with the result and here is also a small preview of my new sofa and some of the fabrics I will be using. the other pillow so you can see the color palette and the direction that I'm taking this living room and I'm really excited so for my next ikea hack, I'm really excited because I've been planning on doing this. for months and months, so I customized a few other curtains, but I feel like with the direction I'm taking my living room I'm changing the style and color palette to something I like a little more when we originally started designing our house, We were designing it with the idea that it would be a vacation rental, so I don't know if that's the direction we're going to take anymore, so I decided to just decorate it for myself, so let's go. be hacking these ripa curtains and let's make them a pleated curtain now.
I don't know if you've ever priced custom pleated shades, but they can get very expensive. I worked as a designer and so know that it can cost you over a thousand dollars, even up to a few thousand dollars, so ikea has really connected us in this department because the Riplett curtains are already configured to easily convert to pleated curtains, saving you thousands of dollars with a simple pleat. hooks for which I will provide an Amazon link in the description box below. I've seen some tutorials where they don't do the edge hooks, but I like my curtain to lay flat, so let's put some edge hooks. without pleating them, which is a little tricky to move in on the edge, but I just use some toothpicks to lift them up and open them and that makes it a little bit easier and then you just slide them into the four slots like you see me doing here.
You're going to move to the other side of the fibrous tab and begin your first section of pleats. Now ignore the location where I'm doing this because I should have done it right next to the outside and I ended up fixing that in just a second but my camera battery died but it's the exact same process. I'm going to try to explain it as best I can, but try to watch what I'm doing as it can be a little complicated. to explain, but once you understand the concept, it's very

easy

to do, so what we're going to do is put our first tip in the first loop, then we'll count five loops and then we'll put the second tip in that loop and then five more and then five more until all four tips are in loops, then you will gradually slide that tip up catching all the loops in that row until the bottom of the tip has stopped and is firmly in place makes sense, then you are going to keep repeating this process throughout the entire panel and you will be able to see the incredible and beautiful pleating.
Now to finish it off, we're going to take a thread and a needle and we're going to sew back and forth across the base of the fold. Now you can leave it like this and be done, but I wanted to take it a little further and I'm going to use some pearl and rhinestone buttons. and I'm going to sew them into place while we're at it, then to finish it off, I tie it now. If this is too fancy for your personal decor, I thought it would also look great with fabric covered buttons. which you can do with an extra panel or maybe even cutting the hem when you hem the curtains or you can do any type of button that suits your decor a little more, finally to hang it up I have these curtain rings and just slide the hooks into the small hole of the rings and hang the curtain.
It's amazing how these curtains really brighten my room and I love the little sparkly embellishments at the base of our pleats and the best part of all is the money we saved. making these custom curtains using ikea curtains. I love how they turned out, but I'm wondering how you'd embellish yours, so I just have to tell you about this kind of fun side story, even though it's a couple weeks after Christmas. My son just came to me and said mommy, I forgot to give you a Christmas present so he gave it to me and this is what he gave me and it says person of the year.
It's so cute and honestly, this is my favorite Christmas gift, right? it's cute now let's get back to the diy's okay our next ikea hack is we're going to hack the hectar floor lamp. Funny story. I had actually bought a lamp that was very similar in household items and when I saw this lamp in ikea. It was actually a little more stylistically what I was looking for and it was 30 dollars cheaper than the one I bought, so I returned it and on that trip I met two viewers. It was a lot of fun, Susan and Carmen, it was a lot of fun. meeting you and that was amazing, I just want to show you how easy it is to elevate these ikea pieces with simple and easy things, that's how easy it will be, we'll take it outside, we'll leave it almost packed and To remove just the shadow, I took some tape painter and taped down what I didn't want to spray paint and then I just spray painted a couple very light coats of metallic gold spray paint and let it dry completely, then assembly is also very easy.
What you have to do is screw everything very well and tighten it and then put the shadow and that's it. I really like this color, it's just beautiful, but there's a good chance I'll end up spray painting the tan black color. Since my wall sconces right above are very similar in look and style and are matte black, so I'll probably let the gold dry for the next few days and then I'll probably take it outside and paint the rest. black, but if those sconces weren't there, I'd probably leave it like that, honestly, and how easy was that, folks, seriously, and doesn't it elevate it enough?
I was looking at some similar lamps at Pottery Barn and they literally had over 300 and mine had 45. What do you think now that wasn't the latest Ikea hack so surprisingly easy? Well, I have another surprisingly easy one for you. Hi, I grabbed this black globe, I think it's called the Lindrande globe, it looks like some kind of blackboard. and I thought it would be fun to put this image here, it says: know the good you want to see in the world, get it anyway, so I thought we could transfer this image to this and we can use exactly the same technique that we used.
To make the pillowcase it will be a little more complicated because it is a curved surface. Now I'm going to cheat and make myself a template on my Cricut machine just because I have it. Why not use it? It makes life so much easier and us. We're going to put this on our balloon and it's going to be complicated, it's not going to want to go in very well because it's a very curved surface, but I think if we do it very carefully we can place it there. Okay and then once we have it there, I want to keep it from bleeding so I'm going to use some black chalk paint which I think is pretty close to this finish and we're just going to go over the stencil in the black chalk paint, let it dry and then once it's dry we're going to use some white chalk paint and we're just going to fill in our stencil, so whatever way you decide to do this, whether you use the stencil or the image transfer, I think it will work very well and look very nice now.
If you don't have an ikea, I saw balloons like this at Ross recently and I think it was 12.99 for about the same size, you could spray it with some chalkboard paint and make it all black and still get an almost identical look. Maybe you can even find one at a thrift store. I don't know, but I love how it turned out. It's so cute, it will look really cute on my shelves, but I think it's so easy, so cute. I love it, but what do you think. So last but not least, this will definitely be the easiest trick ever, but I saw this vase and I loved it.
It actually looks a lot like the stuff I've seen at Pottery Barn and looks really cool. texture but it had this blue border, well if you don't have blue decoration, in my case I'm trying to stay away from blue decoration, then you could overlook this, but I'm telling you that you shouldn't because we're going to hack this and make it perfect for any decor, now I'm going to use this mineral chalk paint and it's like a taupe color and it's really going to neutralize this kind of deep blue that we're going to literally paint around. the rim of this rim and change its color and it's that easy, literally just changing this color of this rim will change the whole look and make it work for any decor.
Now you can paint it green, you can paint it gray. Paint it black, you can paint it any color you want, but I really liked the idea of using this kind of taupe color and making it super neutral, but I didn't want to leave it there, so I went to the hobby lobby and picked up these snow globes. The flowers are very similar to hydrangeas but a little smaller and a little more delicate and we're going to throw some of these stems here so they don't have as many snowballs as I wanted, so I also got some geraniums that looked very similar the ones. we're going to mix it up so you don't even notice, but I'm not even going to cut the stems, I'm literally going to bend them in case I want to use them.
We'll put them somewhere else and just put them on this base and they'll look really nice on my shelves too. I'm really excited to renovate my living room, but I have a couple more episodes coming up. before that happens, we'll have to wait a little longer, but it will be good. I'm excited, but what do you think of that trick? It's surprisingly easy, but it makes all the difference now if you didn't have blue. decor, you can keep walking, but one simple change makes it work for any decor and I love that, but what do you think ifDid you enjoy this episode?
Here's another one I think you'll like too and for all my DIYers out there. I just want to tell you that you are more powerful than you think, see you next time, bye.
