gifts

that I'm putting together. They're definitely things that I would love to receive, they're not things that you've

seen

before, so I really

want

ed to come up with some good ideas and things that are practical and things that you can

actually

give to the

people

that I'm a fan of. a personalized gift and especially any gift that has to do with photos, I just love it and I think any member of the family would love to receive a personalized photo gif so I thought I would create something that is also really useful so I decided create some coasters.

I went to Lowe's to pick up some white square tiles and was a little surprised that they were only 15 cents, so I thought it was a great deal. I bought eight of them because I'm going to make two sets of coasters, four in each. Next you need to print some photographs and in a world where we no longer print photographs I think giving someone a printed image is special in itself so I took some photographs of my daughters I think in May so I chose four of my favorites and I'm going to print them the same way I print them.

More Interesting Facts About,

diy gifts you haven t seen before that people will actually want for christmas...

I just download the Walgreens app and print four by six. It takes them an hour to do it. I think they cost about 35 cents. each one is really affordable and I

will

be heading to Walgreens and picking them up now to put this project together. I started by creating a template so I took some cardboard and traced around my tiles, now I cut out that template and then cut. Take out a little bit more, probably about an inch at the bottom because I

want

this to look like an old polaroid, so I want to have a little bit more white at the bottom.

I think it's important to have a template so that all your images look exactly the same, so then you take your template and trace around your images and then you'll crop them out to attach them to your mosaic. You're just going to use a little bit of matte mod podge and lay down a good coat. underneath and then place your pictures now let this dry completely now an idea that occurred to me after I finished making this I thought it would be cute if maybe the kids would write and label on the bottom what the pictures were like, but I thought I'll talk about this after I'm completely done with the project, so it's something you could do if you wanted your kids to add personalized messages at the bottom.

I then decided to add two coats of mod podge letting each coat dry really well in between, since I'm going to use these as coasters. I don't want the images to be ruined, so put on a good layer of mod podge now to give them away. You can just stack them and wrap them with some twine and I. I think this is a gift for great-grandparents. This holiday gift costs less than five dollars and you could definitely get your kids involved in helping you create them. The next gift. I love receiving them. I think they are fantastic and now they are Christmas cookie jars.
I think these make great gifts for teachers. If you had to make several, you could also make them for the neighbors. This is the type of gift that you want to make several and give them out, but who doesn't love receiving them, so you want to get started. Taking kind of a cookie jar, the one I took was from ikea and it was 3.99 so for this cookie jar we're going to add all the dry ingredients so whatever you need to add in a big bowl you want to add. two cups plus two tablespoons of all-purpose flour one tablespoon of cornstarch half a teaspoon of baking powder half a teaspoon of baking soda and half a teaspoon of salt, you

will

mix them in a large bowl once you have mixed them together you will place it in the bottom of your container.
Now you want to press it down so you can pack everything in there tightly. Then you will add half a cup of dark brown. sugar and make sure you pack that in as well, then add half a cup of light brown sugar and pack that in as well, then you'll add a fourth cup of granulated sugar now to finish it off. I'm going to mix half a cup of mm's and half a cup of semisweet chocolate and then half a cup of white chocolate and I'm going to mix them all together to finish the top of my container. now close it and then you want to add a printable to the outside.
I have included my printable as a free pdf for you. You can go down to the description box and print it out and it has four tags so I'm I'm just going to cut the tag out and I'm going to use a little twine that I had and I'm going to wrap the tag around the back and then I'm just going to wrap the twine around a few times and then I'm going to tie it. now once you give him this. whoever you are going to give it to, it is very easy to prepare the cookies, you are just going to melt 12 tablespoons of butter and let the butter cool completely, then you will add an egg and a little vanilla extract, now all you have to do.
What you want to do is add all the ingredients for the cookies and mix them until well combined, then you can shape the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake them in the oven at 350 for 9 to 11 minutes. These are very good and I love giving them as gifts. You guys know how much I love elk, so I can't leave him out when it comes to gifts. This would be great for any dog in his life or if he has a family. Member or friend who loves dogs, this is also a great gift, so I wanted to buy a really nice glass container.
I went to Ikea and bought this four dollar jar and then I also bought the glass lid that goes on top. It costs two dollars. and creates a very nice airtight seal. I used my cricut to print this cute little dog bone and it says inside the moose treats and then I'm going to remove it by taking out the excess vinyl that I'm not going to use. To transfer my vinyl to whatever piece I'm working on, I like to use contact paper that you can get at Dollar Tree or Walmart and I'm just going to put it over the top of my black vinyl, peel off the backing and then place it on my jar now you can fill it with whatever delicacies you want.
I grabbed some when I was home and all you have to do after putting the lid on is finish it off with some thread. and this is a great gift for your favorite dog as we create a lot of home decor and we love doing it. I think it's okay at Christmas to lean into the home decor side of gift giving and I'm good at home decor so those make great gifts for me so I decided it would be fun to make some concrete pots to give as gifts. This seems a lot more intimidating than it

actually

is and the product I found is really forgiving and I have been able to use it on several projects and it has worked very well is a product called quikrete.
I bought it at Home Depot. You can probably get it at Lowe's too and the best thing about quick creation is that you can easily mix it with water to create. a concrete so make sure you wear gloves and I just mix equal parts of the quikrete with a little bit of water and you're going to mix it, you want it to have the consistency of almost like a thick pudding. I have found the best. What you can use when making a concrete pot is to use some type of paper. My favorite is a juice container.
The reason it's easy to achieve with plastic is that you have to cut it a lot more. You can always use a plastic one, but for me I like to use paper better, so I'm going to take an old juice container and then I also had a little half and half container and I'm just going to cut the top off and clean them up really good. I'm going to add my quick build to those containers now, if you don't have enough you may need to mix in a little more of your quikrete until you get the desired look you're going for and have the height you want.
Now since these are going to be planters, we need to put something in the middle, so I have some paper cups again. This paper is going to come off very easily, so I'm just going to put the paper cups in the middle and then I'm going to put a weight in there to hold it while it dries. Now with quick build let it dry for a good 24 hours before you start taking it apart and even after 24 hours it will continue to dry. So after 24 hours, you can easily remove the paper and then take out the middle cup.
Then you can really customize this to who you're giving it to, so depending on what their taste is, I'm going to use a black color, so I'm going to put some painter's tape on the front diagonally. Now painter's tape doesn't stick very well so it's more of a guide I'm using honestly you could probably just use a piece of paper and it would work just as well because paint doesn't really like to stick to concrete and then it just I'm going to use Waverly ink and paint the front, then I'm going to turn it to the side and kind of make it so it's a triangle shape with the front and paint a little bit more black paint and I'm going to repeat those steps with my other pot as well.
Then I had to figure out how I'm going to fill these pots that I love. all the fun plants at ikea I think I'm going to buy one of these little miniature cactus sets. They're 9.99 for a pack of three for a holiday gift I'll be making next. I will add my cactus to the containers. I think these would make great gifts for anyone, they would make great hostess gifts or you could keep them yourself and just place them in the background and here's a final look at how they turned out if you love seeing behind the scenes.
I know. Make sure you follow me on Instagram and check out my Instagram stories because I posted that whole trip to Ikea. I love posting things I'm doing, so it's a great place to follow me and get some good behind the scenes stuff. My name on Instagram. it's liz finlay diy so check it out and be sure to follow me so on this next giveaway I saw this trivet idea on Pinterest. Sometimes it's cool to mix a handmade gift with something you buy for someone because I think a handmade gift says, You know, I really took the time to think about you and create something for you, like how much better is that, like that?
I thought it would be a great gift if you gave someone a teapot, like last year for Christmas, my mom asked me. for a red teapot, this would have been a great DIY for me with that teapot, so all you need for this, honestly, I had all this stuff in my craft room, you just need some clothespins and some e6000, so start by breaking apart the clothespins I didn't count how many clothespins I used but I just separated several of them I mean maybe 30 I don't know I did that maybe it's not enough but I'll separate them and then it will take the two rear ends and you will use a drop of e6000 and be generous with your e6000, make sure you use enough and then you will put them together to make small groups of two.
The next thing you want to do is take your clothes pins and place them. In a circle where the smaller end faces in, now make enough clothespins so that you can complete the circle and have a nice circle shape in the middle. Once you know you have enough, I'm going to come back with that e6000 and I'm going to put it on both sides and I'm going to start sandwiching them together. Make sure to lift each of the pieces and put the e6000 on both sides. Now I let this dry for a couple. of hours then I flipped it back and to make it even stronger I'm going to use some cork that you can pick up from the dollar tree.
If you don't have cork on hand, you can always use a piece of felt. and I'm just going to cut a circle around the back so you can't see it in the front and then I'm going to cut a circle in the middle and then I'm going to use a little bit more e6000 to hold it in place and I just think this is a nice gift for Christmas. I know this next gift would be great for anyone who likes to decorate their home. We're going to make some monogrammed tassels, so you'll want to start with a piece of wood.
To link these pieces of wood in the description box along with anything else in this video, check out the description box because I link everything there. Next you will need some twine and some wooden beads so I will start by putting the thread through my piece of wood now I have to add some masking tape at the end to make sure the thread fits on the piece of wood and I'll tie it in below. I'm going to string some wooden beads. my piece of twine now you can do this as long as you want honestly I'm not going to make it very long because my idea for these is that they fit really nicely like on the side of a small pot or something so once you have all the beads of wood put in, you're just going to tie the excess at the end and cut it now to personalize this.
I'm going to use some dollar tree letters and I'm going to use an f for mine and I'm just going to put the f on the top of the wooden letter, then I'm going to add a layer of matte mod podge on top and let it dried completely and I think they look great in pots and would make a great gift for you. You'll have to let me know in the description box which of these projects was your favorite and also let me know what you plan to make for Christmas this year, what handmade gifts you're going to make, and if you're new here, be sure to subscribe.I post two DIYs every week and if you missed the last one, I'll link it here and talk to you in the next one, bye.
