I bought this headboard at a thrift store years ago, it belonged to my daughter. bed and we painted it shiny gold it only cost five dollars and I wanted to try something I've seen on Pinterest for years so just taking a drill, taking apart the headboard and then using a ruler measuring two straight lines it was definitely no It's perfect now I don't have the power tools to cut this so I just used a hand saw and it really wasn't that bad. I mean, I have this, you know, fast speed, but from start to finish, this side of the bed was only six minutes before I edited it, so it's not that bad, then I use Rust-oleum chalkboard spray paint.

I love these things, you can find them at Home Depot, Walmart or Lowe's I'm sure, or on Amazon anyway, they are very inexpensive. Two layers, the first layer. vertically and then the second coat horizontally and it dries very quickly so if you look at the top you can already see it starts to dry before you write on the board or whatever you are spraying with chalk paint you have to wait 24 hours, so I did it and you can also see on the top they were a different glue and the whiteboard paint took a little different there but it covers up so don't worry about that before you use any new whiteboard and this or any whatever you spray with.

This chalkboard paint you want to prime it or prime it by rubbing chalk all over it and then cleaning it that way will prevent it from leaving marks on the chalkboard and it works much better. I've had a lot of questions or requests I guess to do a full tutorial on how I make my letters now my cursive is nothing to write home about but I just write it's good to be yeah I know this is not the correct way to make a B cursive but I can't make a pretty cursive honey, now for the letters, I start with my vertical lines, no matter what word I'm writing or if it's curved, whatever it is, vertical and diagonal.

I guess I should say that after I have all my vertical lines, then go back and do my horizontal lines and my curves. In this case, I'm going to go back and add an extra vertical line to make the letters a little bit fancier and then I'm going to go back like I said and do my curves like with the O now, if I make a mistake on a whiteboard, I'm going to take a little towel or tissue paper and I'll dry it and wipe it first and then I'll come back and wet it and dampen it and wipe it off otherwise it's like a big mess and that just works better for me personally now like I said I don't really care if my cursive but I went back and traced it or went over it.
I think it makes it look a little better. I'm not sure I just need to do it. work on my cursive and here we go, it's good to be home but of course you can write whatever you want. I made a small heart because it was a little unbalanced or off center and it was bothering me. I wanted something to balance it out. I leave without redoing everything and here you have it. I love chalkboards because they can be changed depending on the season of the day or your mood the next day. I picked up this pink table.
I guess I don't know plants. Tan, maybe at a garage sale for only $3 what I loved is that it's real metal or wrought iron, I don't know, and the bottom design I wasn't too crazy about the little flowers on top. I also have this plywood left over from a previous project. I have a bunch of other DIYs made from this wood. I only paid $23 for it, so I'm considering this frame was flipped on the table, I traced it and was 100% prepared to use my hand saw to cut it, but I saw my favorite neighbor, Mr. Keith and I asked him to cut this for me and there's my husband on the left with the assistant, so thank you so much Keith for cutting this.
He is also the same neighbor I got my free table from who was digging through his trash. a table away and made a console anyway. Thanks Keith, I turned the table over and then used this under a dollar black spray paint from Walmart all over the table and this took a while because there were so many designs I want to make. I sure got all the corners after the black spray paint dried. I came back with the rest of the gold spray paint. I just had this on hand. I want this to look like wrought iron.
It is not a completely flat black. There is a little bit of dimension. some rust looking colors and I just dusted the table. I didn't give it any full coverage, just barely dusted it off. My goal was to make this look like wrought iron and you know how wrought iron had some gold in it. You know, the part that looks like metallic copper here is. what it looks like up close is still drying. I hope you can see the difference. It just wasn't a bright or dark black. It looks better in person than on camera and then comes back with nutmeg.
Brown and burnt umber with a little water. I'm just going to mix the paints, more burnt umber than nutmeg brown, but that's totally a preference, mix them together and then paint my entire board. I'm doing it this way because I don't keep stain like wood stain on hand. I just didn't use it that often and since I'm going to put this table inside this technique works well after that I tried a bit of screws or some screws, not a bit of screws but a few screws screw my table to the top from my table and voila, this is done.
I really like how it turned out. I'm thinking, I don't know. I could actually put this in my living room. I'm not sure yet. I have not played. with that either or I'll put it in the guest room as a nightstand either way. I think it's super cute and I really like how it turned out afterwards. I bought these two tacos from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, but I think they were 75 cents together, they were taped together. I think they were originally like in a closet. You know, I'm saying they hang things. Then I went to Home Depot and bought two of these 98 cent strips of wood now to give you an idea.
They're the same size as strips of wood from dollar trees, except they're like eight, ignore me measuring. I was going to try to measure seven feet, but the tape measure was getting the best of me, so I just marked where I thought or how. tall I thought about leaving my ladder like this now I have a smaller little saw that can cut small pieces of wood like this so I just cut my ladder down to about seven feet but I will tell you if you don't have a power tool these are very thin and they can be easily cut with a hand saw, I marked my other wood to match my first piece of wood and then I also measure my round pieces of wood to a foot or twelve inches, but you know what I'm saying.
I ended up cutting the round wood into five different pieces and I still used my first cut to mark my next cuts and these will be the horizontal part of my staircase. Now I just laid out my wood to see how I wanted this. To continue, I have seen stairs where everything is evenly spaced where there is more space at the bottom and I decided that I wanted to measure my pieces 10 inches from the top so that every 10 inches and then the bottom of my staircase would have a gap or a big space okay ignore the little circles I drew that didn't do anything so it was stupid of me this is my first time so anyway drill a hole in the round pieces of wood these will be my horizontal pieces and then just take some screws and screw it in and to the circles that I drew that don't make sense once again, you can ignore the circle.
I don't know what I was thinking, but like I said, this is my first time and when it was all done. It's not totally perfect but I like the way it looks and like I said every 10 inches I had a little step or rod and then the bottom of my ladder is longer without rods. You see what I'm saying using the leftover acrylic. faux stain I made, I added some black acrylic paint and then I painted it all over my staircase and here, again, it's not perfect, but for under three dollars this is amazing and you could also do this for three dollars if you were to home.
Depot, maybe even two dollars. I'm not sure about going to Home Depot, they will cut the wood for you and this is a super easy and inexpensive DIY, cheaper than Dollar Tree. I usually don't sweat that much. I don't know if you can. Look, but I'm pretty sweaty because it's over 100 degrees here in Texas.
