DIY DOLLAR TREE MULTIPURPOSE ORGANIZER WIRE SHELVES WITH DRAWERS

Feb 27, 2020
Hi everyone Josie, here's life at 50 and beyond, thanks for joining me here on my channel today. I have another DIY

multipurpose

organizer

from Dollar Tree for you all and I am so excited to share with you this new product they are selling at Dollar. Tree, I now bought these online because I couldn't find them in any of the stores nearby. These are the gold

wire

baskets and these are the rectangular ones, the biggest ones they sell and they're like six units at least, so it's amazing because I don't have to buy in bulk. I will also use the

wire

racks for schools.

These are the smallest and come two in a pack for a

dollar

. I will use three pairs of them and Later I will show you that I am also using the longer or larger ones for the backing, but you can certainly use four packs of smaller pulling wire racks and I will also use to assemble these my favorite tools or materials, the flanges. and I got it too from Dollar Tree and also from my handy dandy glue gun and my handy dandy Dollar Tree scissors that I'm going to use to cut my zip ties so let's get started first.

More Interesting Facts About,

diy dollar tree multipurpose organizer wire shelves with drawers...

I'm going to set up my base. Do you see one of the gold ones? wire baskets and two pieces of cooling wire racks, this base will hold the entire system, so my project will have one fixed wire basket and two wire baskets that are not fixed, that can be changed and that can be moved . Now I'm just showing you. here I'm using my assistant here my ceramic caravan that I held up earlier and I'm going to embed the top right corner of that video, if you're interested, I'm using this to hold this wire rack so that I can tie it up without it falling over.

You can also use clamps or binder clips, but I find this very helpful to rest on something that is sturdy and won't fall over, so what I'm doing here is just lining up the basket. I place the bottom of my grate where it matches the narrowest part of the grate and then I'm going to tie my zip ties. I'm going to place three zip ties here, one on each end and then one in the center, but you can certainly add more zip ties now in the interest of time. I am NOT going to wrap my zip ties more than once, if you want to wrap them multiple times do it to save your materials and make the connections a little harder to break, but like I said, for the sake of time, I'm doing this as quickly as possible because sometimes my video tends to last a little bit longer because I also do the process longer, so I just make it a little bit easier for video purposes, so I made the two ends and now I'm going to put the middle part.

I'll just try to watch where the middle is each time I put the zip ties on. diagonally so that it catches the intersection of the wire from the wire basket and the wire from my cooling rack, so here are my first three connections and let me go ahead and focus it a little bit more so you can see how it looks like if you notice that This basket is not perfectly straight on the sides so there will be a gap here, which is why I can't put zip ties on the bottom of the baskets to connect them to the bottom wire of my cooling rack.
That's why I'm putting the first wires on top of the basket and then connecting them to the cooling rack wires. I'm going to go ahead and focus this a little closer for the benefit of visually impaired viewers. Now I must apologize for the focus. I think it may be a little grainy, but at least you can also see it a little closer, so I apologize for the quality every time I zoom in closer so she can see my first bridle here on This Other Side again , I put it diagonally so that no matter what you do, it won't slip because you catch both wires that crossed over, so I'm basically repeating all the steps that I did on the opposite side and here.
Now that I'm done with the bottom of my wire shelving, I'm going to go ahead and add the top

shelves

to strengthen my top shelf. I'll double my cooling racks, so I'll be Put two in the middle and two on the top shelf now, if you want, you can already connect these two

shelves

together, maybe one on each end before you even connect them to the sides, that way way they won't slide against each other and they are aligned, but I didn't do that so in hindsight I should have, but it worked anyway so I'm showing you where I'm going to attach my middle shelf.
There's a middle wire there and I'm going to use that. that's my mark, okay, that's where I'm going to put my middle shelf. I have aligned the second shelf flange with my first shelf or the bottom shelf. I'll put one on each side where it intersects. look, it's kind of diagonal, so it gets caught in there, so it just doesn't slide around and it's a little more stable that way, so I'm going to put my middle tip binding on and then I'm just going to repeat the same steps. On the opposite side I'm going to do a little quick movement here it says it's just one rep.
Okay, so here's our second shelf or middle shelf connected and now I'm going to attach my third shelf or top shelf. I'm also going to fold it with two racks to make it stronger and more stable for the top shelf. I'm going to take advantage of these two feet here on this side and also the two feet on the opposite side so that my top shelf can sit on them, making it more stable, that's how I'm going to place my shelf on top, so I'm going to attach my first flange again , making sure all the flanges are aligned so that the top shelf flanges align with the second shelf flanges as well as the bottom shelf flanges.
I'm doing the same style of tying my cable ties making sure they're diagonal and then capturing or trapping where the wires cross and then since there are no feet in the middle center part of this top shelf, I'm just making sure again to place a zip tie that is diagonal to trap all those cables together and this time I'm going to repeat the same process on the opposite end. in a faster motion, okay, it still wobbles, it's because I haven't attached anything to the back, so this is where two more wire racks will come in handy, but these two wire racks are taller and don't come in two in a package. maybe because of the size, so I will use them to overlap and then tie them with my zip ties.
I like the fact that it is taller and it will catch my basket or whatever I am going to put it in, it will catch it even if I push it back and there will be no risk of it falling over, just line it up with the shelves I have placed making sure you have the correct width that covers the entire back so that the sides do not protrude. I'm just going to put my zip ties on, one on each end. I flipped it over so you can get a better view of what I'm doing here since these two larger wires overlap.
I'm making sure they're aligned. I'm using six zip ties on each level to connect this backrest to each shelf, but this is a part where the two large wire racks overlap so it doesn't slide up like what's happening now. I'm going to put it in place and secure it with a zip tie, so like I said before, you can add as much to make this stable, so it stays straight and stronger, so feel free to put them anywhere you think which will make this work, so I'll make a quick move. Again, okay, so my bookshelf is ready.
I'm just adding the two wire baskets that are removable and I can even use other baskets instead of those two, which is why I like the removable ones. I'm using this for the gold wire baskets I'm holding previously. The ones I buy online are a minimum of four pieces or four units to buy, not the larger dome you'll often see on other items, they fit perfectly here and I like that they line up with the backrest. You already know the top part of the backrest. Perfect, let me prove it to you, especially if you're new to my channel.
You've probably seen this before if you're not new to my channel, but the reason is that my hot glue to reinforce my zip ties is not. just to reinforce it so that it is stable and stays stronger, but also acts as a protective cover so that those sharp edges created by me cutting or trimming my cable ties do not cause any injuries such as scratches or even cuts to anyone who may be touching or approaching it accidentally to it, so it's just a protection, especially if you have younger kids with you so they don't get cut, so again, there's a dual purpose here, not only reinforcing my connection, but also adding a protective cover to make it hit two birds with one stone, but you can also take down those sharp edges with your nail file or you can also use sandpaper to dull them.
Here I'm showing you how I use my die, so the containers were only a

dollar

fifty each. from Daiso and I could put them on top. I think they are too tall for the middle shelf, but you can match any other basket, so I like that they can be removed on those two layers or shelves so you can mix and match. This acrylic container also has a die, but Dollar Tree sells them also have acrylic or makeup organized containers. You could probably use this to organize your makeup and imagine this in your home office so you can put your incoming and outgoing mail.
You can use this. to organize your printer paper and also envelopes, stationery and other office supplies. I can also imagine it at the hot drinks station in the kitchen. You know, your coffee or tea station. You could put it here. Organize your tea bags. Use some of those smaller containers to organize. corral your K Cups if you have K cups you can put heavier items like drinking glasses on the bottom you can even use it as a drying rack in your kitchen the possibilities are endless use this is a craft storage if you want to camouflage too those zip ties, you can use those gold or silver pens that you can just rub on and then they'll just blend together or you can spray paint the whole thing to give it a new look, a different color, you can use this in any style.
