storage

and this week I made another one just for my office supplies and as I mentioned last week I made

drawers

so that's what we're going to go over today.

I'm going to show you how I made the

drawers

, of course I added my little pulls to match. I'm super happy with the way it turned out and this just slides into its little house, so I'll focus on how to make the drawer. I'm going to move forward quickly. through most of the cutting and gluing parts, I also made a download again in case you are interested in this, this fits a standard bookshelf size and I had it to again hold my office supplies and the drawers They are for things I don't want to be seen, so without further ado, I heard from one of our subscribers, Mike, that you can get a square at Dollar Tree, so check your hardware section to see if they have anything like this or a T-shirt. which is a long section here and you have a small piece here, but try to get something larger for these

pieces.

More Interesting Facts About,

diy craft storage with drawers using foam core...

Also another thing I saw that I thought was pretty amazing is that I've been going through these videos on how

foam

core

works.

storage

and like I said there are a lot of them but there are other ways to cut foam core that are extremely efficient so I did some testing and I hope the screen shows up but this cut is with an exact knife and you can look, It is quite serrated, now I grant that this was a dull Exact knife. I was having a lot of trouble getting a nice clean cut with this, so it is an exact knife.

This was a good box cutter and yes it is a perfect cut but box cutters are. Really dangerous because they slide so smoothly and so fast that you actually run the risk of cutting yourself and they get boring after about nine cuts. What I found out another YouTuber suggests is

using

a serrated steak knife and he said he only buys his in a four pack at the dollar store. and then he cuts with the steak knife and you know what he's right about, it works great and if you accidentally rub your finger against this you won't cut yourself.

I mean, if you give it a lot of strength, yes, two cuts with a steak knife are just as good. Well, give it a wheelie, give it a pass and you'll get a nice clean cut, so just to be safe, if you can find one of these that you already have in a drawer, you don't mind giving up as a sacrifice for your steaks this is a great option for cutting the foam core very easily. I'm not sure how many of you will benefit from this. This is for a large section on my 30 inch bookcase behind me.
I will download it, but like I said I'm not sure how many of you will have this exact need, but it will still give you an idea of how to cut them and place them together. It took me about 45 minutes to make all the cuts. It was going very slow. and being very meticulous not to make a mistake here is a total waste of all five boards, so I was very proud that I spent a lot of time placing the pieces, so I think I made the most of it. and I don't know if I could have really cut other big pieces out of the scraps, so okay, now I'm going to save all these pieces for other

craft

s or I could make a bunch of these thin pieces for zazz stands, so don't throw anything away until that the project is finished.
As I completed each little section of my schematic, I marked the pieces in the corners to match the piece here and then set them aside so that when I go to put it together, this time it's not as conf

using

, so here it is all in sheet three, here is everything on sheet 2, sheet one, to make this process easier when it comes to finding the pieces to assemble it, so I know the piece that you are. What I'm most excited to see are the drawers so let me get the parts for the drawers and on the sheets it says bottom drawer bottom drawer two so here's the bottom one and here's bottom drawer two and then the right drawer and the left drawer and then here we. you have your left and your right, well you're a splitter, you're not a PC fiber with drawer, okay, so there are the drawer pieces and this should be pretty quick to put together.
Another thing I want to mention because I started talking about this, the serrated knife. It cuts very cleanly, however because mine was from the Dollar Tree at the dollar store the handle came loose so the cuts I don't know if you could see it moving anyway it wasn't safe anymore so I stopped using it so I think a serrated knife would work but I would recommend getting one that is really strong and won't break after a couple of pressurized cuts so all I'm going to do is get my little glue gun . I designed my boxes so that all the pieces go on the outside, so if you put them on the inside you will be mad at me because, as you can see, this piece is sticking out because I adjusted it to go on the outside and accommodate the pieces that all fit together. along the outside of the bottom and I did this because I wanted to have more storage space on the inside so I'm just going to glue my face on and finish it off with the trusty little glue gun first.
I was thinking that my glue gun puts out a lot of glue. At one point I was thinking about buying the little one they have at the 99 cent store just to see if it gets a smaller blob of glue because this is fiddly and now that I've made one of these before I'm not too worried about it being perfectly square because once I put the other edges in there it will grind itself out, but I want to make sure it's as flush as possible without burning myself, which is one of the things I think is magical. hot glue is that you can still adjust it after it sticks and it dries fast and it works that's just amazing let me give it a little extra pressure now that it's okay and then while it dries I'll go ahead and do the second drop of glue over here try to find the nicest edge so it's visible keep the ugly stuff down again the glue gun is so forgiving that you can adjust it if it's not as flush as you wanted.
I can go ahead and do my edges. I wanted to thank you all for the many comments you provided on the last foam torch I made. I like reading them all, they are very helpful and I loved seeing the communication between them, suggestions and questions, so keep it up. I noticed a couple of people saying that foam core is not an option for you, which I totally respect. I was just looking for something that was extremely inexpensive but sturdy, so if you want to make this out of wood or cardboard, you can. so again i was trying to find something super cheap and pretty easy to find it's very forgiving once you put the glue on you have a few seconds to go ahead and adjust it which i really like so that's the box it's very resistant.
I can go ahead and put some things in there just to show that I have my little knife, a stapler will do for my little heavy tape measure and we will do a full shipment for you to have it. I'm not going to hold it. from the bottom so you can see it's holding all that weight in there and the glue isn't even completely dry yet so I think this is going to be a really sturdy option for you guys if you have really heavy stuff in there. like a lot of stamps or ribbons, things that are going to have some weight to them, you can go ahead and strengthen and support the outside.
There are so many videos showing how to do it. Some people use thumbtacks to get it through, other people use just the regular shipping tape to go around it. I also saw a girl using this industrial shipping tape that had threads running through it. I think everything is fine, the only thing is that there are so many videos to watch. I hate to make you take all that time. So if you're interested, I can put together a compilation video of the various ways to assemble them so you can quickly choose which method works best for you before putting them together, but the last thing I want to point out is the very cute decoration. element that you could put there, you know, I like to decorate things just a little bit to make them look pretty.
These are in my Amazon store, that link is below, the Amazon link gives me a little bit of financial support, so if you're interested. By supporting me, this is a very easy way to do it without adding any extra cost, so when you go to my Amazon link below and buy anything you need, including things I have in my store, I get about 30 cents per hundred. dollars, so it's not a lot, but it adds up and I appreciate you supporting me. Welcome again. We had a little technical difficulty because my battery died, so I charged it a little.
Let's see if we can get through the rest of this. kind of quick, so I think I stopped showing that the next shelf would be where the drawers go. I found that even though I had measured two, three, four times, somehow lining up that middle divider was proving a little difficult, so instead I'm going to line them up and place them towards the end and then I'm going to look at this support piece in the middle because for some reason I can't do the math today, so the five and a half inch bracket is I'm going to go right in the middle here and yeah, this time I'm going to look at it because like I said, I was having a hard time, like this that I have it right in the middle and now I'm just going to go through and glue the bottom part.
Okay, let's hope this works well. I'm a little bit nervous. I don't like to look at things when it's something like this, so I'm just trying to visually place it in the middle. Oh, I think I made it. How about that coffee? It should have gone in now, okay, so I have the middle one, it feels a little bit now, it's a little crooked, but I haven't added the sides yet and I haven't added the second support yet either, so it's really just a Mesa small one that I'm putting two boxes in, but these boxes and the drawers feel great.
I'll still show you how to make some of the supports with the leftover pieces. I'm going to go ahead and move on to the next one. layer above that will be the top for me, but before I do that I'm going to add the three sections again so I have a place to put my final storage and then I'll do, I'll do the final, oh, I'm doing it. I said three. I wanted to show who we have these two pieces again, like the first piece and I think I'm definitely going to add just for stability. Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and add two more support pieces just to give it a little bit more stability because as I move it around it doesn't feel as sturdy as I would like so I'm going to take them out.
I'm going to take them out right now. I already have the top part made. I'm going to leave this so this is my top piece and then this is the bottom piece, but when I lean against here I think you can see how it's going to go, so my drawers will effectively slide here and here, so I'll have open storage on these. three containers and these three containers, this is how it looks good and then after making sure that it's completely aligned and square, the last thing I'm going to do is turn it on its side and then I could do my little decorative handles and at that point already It's there, you can choose to paint it, you can choose to cover it with contact paper, you can choose to cover it with scrapbook paper, wrapping paper, that's totally up to you.
I choose plain white just because Again I want it to blend in, but these are going to be my extra office supplies and stuff, so let me grow the frame now, okay, I'll do it, now I'm ready to glue on the side panels. I have a support. here, that's going to be the bottom, so I'm going to put a little bit of glue there and then I'm going to put a little bit of lube glue on my marked line. I don't know if you'll ever be able to see my marked line, but paste here and then on the bottom panel and then it'll paste like this and then follow that little groove that I made and make sure everything is as square as possible.
God bless you from the center. It's so cute, guys. I love how they can do it. but just modify that little line of glue once you put it in there, you have a few seconds to make an adjustment, which is really nice, but it's going to be super strong. I love it, okay, I'll turn it around and do the same thing. to the outside edge to have that and I had already made my score line, so I'm just going to look at the bottom section to get a good contact there. I'm going to burn. I hate glue gun burns and then I'm going to turn it over again so I can line everything up super square and make sure I have pressure on the main lines of things and there are these feats to back up these sections and then this one is to back up. this top, here, is the finished product, so I have it right next to my desk and it fits really well.
I'm very proud of how well it fits. It probably could have been even higher, but it wasworried about how tight this is I can't move the desk without moving the dresser which means I have to move a lot just to get access to this so I wanted to make sure I had enough room so that when I put it in I would have free space. to lift it up, so in hindsight if I could do this again I probably would have made it bigger here and just put those last two spaces at the end, however I think it looks good, the only thing is that it's sunken in a little . so you could get a larger piece of foam core.
I just put one there. I could put in a larger piece just to lift it up slightly so it's straight, but so far that's my only complaint about it, so the drawer opens and I can have all my office supplies in it. Luckily, you know I go to the Dollar Tree. all the time and I get these cute little square organizers from Rubbermaid, so if you're not familiar check out my video on how to organize with Dollar Tree supplies, but this allows me to have my business cards on hand and my little checkbooks with adhesive notes. everything I need without it being on my desk because it was on my desk and I was going crazy down here, those are all my marketing supplies for when I mail things to local clients and then I have them back.
I'm going to make a bigger piece here to make it fit better my tape my stapler I already have extra space which is awesome the things I grab most often are my planner so I have my little messy fairy planner very easy to grab these are my bills to pay and they were sitting on my desk as a reminder so now I have it here and I might even do something fun like, you know you're ready to go, oh you need to pay the bills, shit you're going to get in trouble so , this way, I was able to see the invoices, I can take care of them right away and I'm always looking for this kind of thing, so again it's not in my desk area, which I'll be very happy about and it's what I personally hate doing.
It's mostly my bookkeeping when I have to balance everything so I can throw my receipts in here, they're safe if I need to look up something else I can access it and then excuse myself when I'm ready to leave. Please review and double check my statement and address this whether it is business needs or personal needs. I know exactly where they are so I'm really happy with this so it was five sheets of foam core so I made this custom insert for my bookshelf for five bucks anyway so thank you so much for looking let me know what you think it seemed and what will you use this for if you make one yourself and until then I'll see you next week, bye.
