Feb 25, 2020
Hello guys, welcome back to my channel and thank you very much for watching today's video. I'm going to show you how I made this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed

cake

, so let's get into it. I'm starting with two 8 inch

cake

s. which I cut in half and I'm going to fill them with some Swiss buttercream. I'm grabbing my little offset spatula to make sure my buttercream is nice and even and then once my cake is stacked, I'm going to apply a thin layer of my buttercream all over the outside for my Crum layer and then tuck it in. in the refrigerator for about 25 minutes, once you can put your finger in the buttercream and nothing comes out, you're ready for your final icing, so I'm using a generous amount of buttercream to cover the entire outside of my cake and then I'm going to take my bench scraper and go around the sides to smooth them out and all that buttercream that's built up on the top. of my cake, I'm going to push it into the center using my offset spatula when my cake is frosted, I'm going to put it back in the refrigerator and then I'm going to take some of my light blue fondant and roll it out. that on my cornstarch surface until it's about 8 inches thick.

I'm lifting my fondant with my fondant roller and placing it on my cold cake and then using my hands and my softer fondant, I'm going to push all the air out from the top of my cake and just work my way down the sides getting the folds of the skirt and smoothing my way down until I reached the bottom. I'm going to go over my cake one more time using my fondant smoother to grab my pizza cutter and just trimming off the excess on the bottom to build the

clubhouse

portion of my cake. I'm starting with Mickey's head, so I'm rolling out some black fondant and then I have different sized circle cutters.

I just tried a few different ones. sizes until I had the right size for the head and then for the two ears I am also cutting a strip of black fondant which I will cut out for his neck piece, then I am rolling out some red fondant and then with a circle cutter even more big. I'm cutting a circle out of that and then setting it aside with the rest of my pieces. I applied some butter to the back of my head and ears and placed it on my cake. I tried my best to cover up that little Nick I made, but once he's glued on, you want to do the same thing with your red fondant.

I cut out the bottom, you can see and glue it on, and then the next piece is the neck. For Mickey's hand I rolled out some white fondant and have a small stencil plate that I made myself. If you watch my videos regularly, you already know that I love it. A good template. I think they make it a lot easier. I cut out complicated shapes instead of just trying to do it freehand, so I'll link the one I used below to complete the hand. I rolled out some very thin black fondant and then cut it into three little pieces and put it right in the middle. a little more black fondant and then I used my template to get a good idea of how thick the arm should be and then I cut it out with my xacto knife.

I cut that strip in half so that half would be used for the arm and then the other. half would be used for the leg piece I'm going to add in just a second. I take that leg piece and put it on top of some yellow fondant that I've rolled out and then I just look at this little bean-shaped thingy for his shoe for the sliding part of the

clubhouse

. I'm rolling out this darker blue fondant into a long snake and then scoring it with a butter knife. You can use whatever you have to give it a little more texture, so now I'm.
I'm going to start attaching all my pieces to the cake starting with the slide. I'm just using a little bit of shortening to help secure everything. You can use water or edible glue, whichever is your preference, and then I'm attaching my hand and my leg and I'm just cutting out any of the pieces that I need if they don't fit right and then as a last step I add two ovals in a blue color lighter for Windows for the green of my cake. I have three different shades of green that I'm spreading out and I also made a little template of Mickey's head and cut it out and then I have this cutter that I think is supposed to be a leaf but it works like a bush so I'm just cutting out bushes. and the Mickey head of all three, so I have a good color combination.
Finally I'm rolling out some white fondant for some clouds. I'm just drawing the shapes freehand. They don't have to be perfect. Mine certainly weren't and I. I'm gluing everything on the cake to have all the Mickey heads that will be like the trees. I'm placing them around and then with some clouds just mixing the colors and before I add the bushes I'm adding some tree trunks so just long strips of brown fondant and then I'll add the bushes in there afterwards however I think it looked Okay now my cake is ready. I'm going to move on to my Mickey Mouse topper for the Mickey head that I'm rolling out. a little black fondant in a ball and I added a little tyos powder to make it very firm.
Then for the face I have some ivory colored fondant and I'm rolling it out and using a heart cutter and I'm going to make it longer and just push it out so it's a little bit rounder but I want to keep the top for the shape of his face. I attached it to the front using a little butter and then again just reshaped it a bit. a little so it wasn't so pointy if that makes sense, like keeping the cute top of the heart but rounding the sides a little for the face part of Mickey's snout.
I rolled out more of my ibr fondant into this long shape and then used I pressed my pinky on both sides as I rolled it so the ends would taper out, so once I have it on the face I'll make sure there's enough room at the top top for your eyes, only use a reference photo if you really need it. helps and I'm using my fingers to push the top up and also narrow the bottom a little bit so it looks like it has a little smile on it. I know it looks a little weird right now, but once I add the smile on the nose, everything will come together, so you want to make sure you have this general shape, whatever shape that is, and I'm using my fondant just to create a little dent on each side so that when you place it it kind of helps in the look that it has a smile, if that makes sense, I use my fondant tool.
I'm marking her smile and then pushing each end in for her dimples and at the bottom just creating an opening just working with my fondant tool and I also have the tip of a paintbrush just to help me shape her mouth correctly for the eyes. I'm marking where they're going to go with the tip of my fondant tool and then I'm just adding a little bit of white and then a little bit of black on top. I added a small oval of black for his nose and then a little bit of black on his mouth and just used my fondant tool to help sharpen the sides so it's not like a big black blob where his mouth should be to finish off his mouth.
I'm adding a ball of red and just pressing it down and then using my fondant tool to mark on the line of his tongue so that that's his face made of it and that's his ears. I'm rolling out some black fondant and using the right size circle cutter that I found that matched her head and cutting out two circles and then just cutting out the corners with a circle cutter so it fits better against her head. I will conform instead of just excelling. I want them to set before I add them, so I'll move on to her body.
I'm rolling out some black fondant into a fat teardrop shape and then rolling out a ball of red fondant. I'm creating a hole in the center that will become a sort of crater for his body to fit in and I'm making it bigger and bigger and thinning out the top so that when I put the black piece on everything it fits really well once I added them , it took me a little while before I got the look I wanted but I ended up with this general shape and then added it to the top of my cake and used an SK skewer to hold it in place with enough room on top to Let your head be attached to your shorts.
I added two balls of red fondant which I rolled into a teardrop shape and then I glued the thinner end to the side and just pressed it so it was flush and then using the end of my fondant tool I created a hole where her leg will fit . I pulled out a long thin snake out of black fondant and cut out little pieces for his legs and then for his shoes, I have the small one. yellow fondant balls that I rolled into a long oval shape and smoothed them down and then created a hole in them for her leg to fit on the other side, added two small white buttons for her shorts and then rolled out another long thin snake of black fondant and cut out pieces for her arm and simply attached them to the top so they would taper down and press inward.
I then pushed his head in and then using a little water I placed the ears on either side for his gloves I rolled out two balls of white fondant into a teardrop shape and flattened them against my work surface and then using my xacto knife I cut out four fingers and I just rounded the ends with my fingers and then put the lines on his gloves. I only used my fondant tool once I added them to my cake. I rolled out a small thin strip of white fondant and used it as the seal between his hand and her arm and this is how it turned out.
I'm always working on it. my platter, my figures, and the last Mickey I made looked like a potato compared to this one, so I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thank you very much for watching guys. I really appreciate you supporting my channel and I will see you on it next time.
