room

table and chairs, there's only four of them. chairs, but I think I have some in my storage bin that match enough. We're going to remake all of this and show you how you can remake a really super

easy

game. The surprise in this, well, I'm not going to tell you yet, so hold on and let me show you what we have here. Okay here we go, I know it's not fabulous since this is really gross fabric and it's all stained, but I have a really cool trick on how to finish this project really quickly.

, so we're going to back the truck up and we're going to start taking it to the yard and we're going to get it. I started, I'll show you how it's done. I love these dumbbells, don't you think this is so cute and beautiful? Once it's done, it'll be fabulous, yes we could, it's just got good bones, sure, yes, that's right. about that, there's something about this, yeah, look, it's going to be really pretty, so the first thing we're going to do is cover our work surface because we're going to be spray painting it, so I told you I had some.

More Interesting Facts About,

Surprise and this is a little crazy and I've actually shown it in another video but most people don't spray paint

furniture

, I spray paint

furniture

, chalk paint, faux paint, I use gel stains but in this one case is the fastest way to paint chairs. is to spray paint them, so that's what we're going to do. I have my favorite Rust-oleum paint, um 2x ultra cover paint and primer, which is fantastic, so we're going to scuff them up a little bit. We have sandpaper. Now listen, this is a really important trick, okay? So once you've shaken the can, here's this cool tool that you really need if you're going to spray paint something and get a super fine finish because what I don't want is for the spray to mark this little tool.

I have no idea why it works so well. I just know that it works. You're going to slide this. There's a ridge here and you're going to slide it right over this can and then. you have like a spray gun sounds ridiculous but it really works. I've even painted entire dressers with this without the spray can marks, so let's go ahead and get started, let's sand these chairs just a little bit. and then we'll start spray painting and then I'll show you how to take the maximum effect off. Okay, we're getting started. Well, we have the chairs.

Some of the seeds were out. Let's go ahead and remove the rest of the seeds so we can remove the chairs, it's time to start sanding, yes I hate sanding, we all hate sanding, the best thing you can do also before sanding would be to clean this with vinegar or cleaner of vinegar or some type of degreaser in case there were gr

chairs because they were in a dining area, everything we're going to do now you should really have an anti-static cloth, I mean I never have a antistatic cloth. block it up and just wipe this down with a rag or paper towel or whatever you have dust it off and then start spray painting okay so we're all sanded and ready to start painting so one of the things I want say when you paint a chair, the best thing you can do is turn it over, first you want to make sure you've shaken it for at least a minute, and then what you want to do is once you've placed your little spray nozzle here, what you want to do is make long sweeping strokes you want to be 8 to 10 inches away and mine was a little stuck so now we're not going to spray the top because we have to have something dry that we can grab. to turn it over once we've got this done, don't worry about getting full coverage on the first stroke, if you put too much paint on it, it will smear, so I put the first coat on it, as you can see. still a little stained in some areas, I'm just going to give it this, this literally dries in a few minutes, I'm just going to leave it on until it dries and I'm going to give it another coat, one more coat and we'll be done with all of this.
Okay, our first coat is dry and we're getting ready to apply the second coat, now we're going to get our full coverage because this is a great paint and we should be fine, let's see what happens, okay, I think this one is pretty. Much done and we're going to go in and see what the angels do and she's getting these seats ready to recover so we're going to start with that next so I'm here with Angel and we're going to cover these eight chair cushions now like I said we had two different types of chairs, you can see this one is much higher than this one, but it's for staging, we don't really care, no one will notice, now, what we're doing to make this uniform.
More cost effective is that we use a drop cloth, so this is just from Home Depot and it's just this canvas. You don't want the one with the rubber backing, you just want the regular canvas and so it was in this little package here. and you're just going to fold it perfectly. I know we can cover them all. I think this thing was like 13 or something. It's a great deal, so what you'll want to do is cut it wherever you want. just a little bit more than you need all the way around, so I'm going to come over here and I'm just going to bend it to where I need.
I'm going to put my finger there and say "okay." Alright, so the staplers we're using are two different staplers just because that's what we have, but they basically work on the same principle and this is my favorite type. The old school ones had the handle that you press down. on the back and they don't give you enough leverage to really get that staple all the way in on the type where the handle is on the front and you're going to push here, that's the one I like, I love the powerful pull that is the that I will have in your hand is my favorite this is the handcrafted version it feels a little lighter but I'm sure it works pretty much the same way so you're going to want to squeeze the back you need to know how to load this so you're going to squeeze the back part, um, that one you have to push down and squeeze that one has fallen out a couple of times, so push it, yeah, push it down, yeah, and then it will come out, yeah, there you go and So, what you want What you do is think you would put the staples here, but you don't.
You turn it around and you want to get compatible staples. Um Arrow and Stanley have a universal fit. I really prefer this one to be 3 8. It's pretty close, but I don't like them to get too long because then it's harder to get them all the way in, so here's what you do: There's a little cavity here, you just want to throw them in there. . So you just turn it upside down and then slide it in until it locks, it clicks into place and you're loaded and ready to go. You want to put a staple on each side, make sure you have enough. space around before you do it, so I'm almost fine.
I'm going to put a staple here since I'm going to cross. Okay, so I put the first one. I'm going to put the one on the other side. I'm gonna throw. before I staple to put some tension there and I'm going to go to the side and then when I go to the other side again I'm going to pull because I want it to be tight, all good, here we go now. I'm going to work on the corners next. Now is when I'm going to trim a little bit because it's not going to bunch up if I have too much fabric.
Here you can be very clean and precise. I feel like no one is going to do it. To see it, so no, it just takes longer, so here's what we're going to do: we have a staple on each side and then we have one on each corner, so let's go ahead and work on the corner. What you want to look at is this side when you're working, you want to make sure that it doesn't have any creases that are visible, so here, if I did this, you would see this crease that's not attractive, so I'm going to go ahead and the way that I make sure I don't have the folds it's like putting my finger under the fabric and maneuvering it and moving it around until the folds are just on the bottom and not on the side look how neat it looks and then I'm going to staple on top of the fold here and here you can always hit them with a hammer again.
I'll run my fingers underneath, that seems to work better. The best thing about this if you do it and you don't like what you did you just remove the staples and start again it's a forgiving process it's like painting if you don't like what you painted you just repaint it so that's it one of the things I really like. about this and if you were to ruin your fabric in any way, it's a canvas fabric from Home Depot, cut another piece right and our disclaimer is that we don't claim to be professionals, um furniture pushers, that's not what we do, we just likes to do things.
It looks pretty and we like to give you options to do things that aren't as difficult or as expensive, so we just like to have a really nice look, on a

budget

and a

friendly

way of doing things, and then what do I do? ? What I have to do is go back and just staple between each of these or I could put two, so there it is, it's not perfect by any means, but you know, the good news is that it doesn't have to be and we're not trying of doing that, so if you are also not a perfectionist, this will work well for you and you will see that you can have something really good without a lot of effort or a lot of money. um next is the base of the table and the top of the table so keep looking because I have some, I have it from the dollar tree and um you know they're going to get really gummed up so you're not going to do it.
It will last so long, so getting them at Dollar Tree is really great because you don't feel too bad about throwing them in the trash, unlike four dollars, that's probably enough. When we put the table together, we won't be. We'll be able to see a lot of this because the table covers most of it, so if you feel like it needs a little more, we can do that, so for now we're going to work on the chairs, okay, this chair has arms and this one doesn't, so we're going to highlight a little bit different, so of course I'm going to want to get these edges, this is very visible, look how nice it looks and remember on these chairs it's very important to have them. the back because in a dining table the back is what is seen from one of the sides of the table.
Well, we should probably see if we're consistent. That's the other thing. If you are doing this with someone, it is very important to take a step back. from time to time and make sure you do things the same way because you can be harsh or light on this and it will make all the difference in the world in your final results. I think it's pretty close. definitely close enough knowing it's too perfect. I have a problem with being too consistent so I think that's good enough. I like it. So what are we going to do next?
Oh yes, the table. Oh yeah, you have to do it right. It's as much of a Surprise for us as it is for the people watching, so we went ahead and put the table leaves here. It's very important if you're making a table that has leaves, put it together, leave a little space between the leaves so you can plan. the edges and do not stick together when dry. I think what I'm going to do, I want the end result to be gray. I'm using Old Masters gel stain, which is one of my favorite products because it sticks.
Well, we scraped it off a little, but this sticks to almost everything. The other thing I did was have my paint store stain the stripped white to a taupe color. They have a formula on the computer for me. They just matched the color and I liked how it

turned

out. I'm going to use Verithane wood stain. I have distressed gray and ebony. I also have charcoal gray, but if I don't need it I'm not going to use it, so I'm going to start with the white stripper and many times the white stripper on a dark color ends up looking gray.
Now in this case, we're definitely going to follow the grain of the wood and end up using various colors. but I want to see what this target does before I make any decisions about where I'm going to go next with this. The other thing is that you want your strokes to be broad. What I really don't like is when you see people do this. a lot and that's not how the wood grain is it's straighter if you get your product here and you don't like how it looks all you have to do is take some paint thinner and just wipe it off now you have to be very careful not to have this muddy look if you mix it too much, it will be muddy now.
What I like about this trendy color is that it adds warm tones and what I love about this gray color is that it adds cool tones and since we use our furniture primarily for staging, this is perfect because we are going to have warm tones and cold, so we can use them. You know, it's much more versatile now. The other thing you can do is almost like a wood grain effect. Let it sit and lightly brush the top. I'm basically skimming the top of the surface and as you can see it's creating a sort of patterned wood grain effect and then I'm going to go very slightly in the other direction.
Ok so I'm looking at the color of what's underneath and I don't like how light it is. I feel like we need the drama on top, so maybe let's skip that drag, meaning skip the white, start with the gray and see what we have now, let's add it. a little taupe, see what happens, it's okay, it seemsthat I came up with what I like and it's basically this little strip so sometimes it takes experimentation and you just have to have enough to play with but I like this and um I think they're using the same colors that are actually on that backsplash that you know, for this house, that's great in the future, it won't matter, so it looks like we'll have to put in the darker colors first. this out of here, so now I'm just going to add a little bit of black to bring back some richness here, so this is going to be a combination of applying the paint, removing it, and then reapplying it with a dry brush.
Topping and dry brushing give you the control to add what you want to complete the look. Now the other thing is that the longer you wait to remove the paint, the more different the look will be as you do it, and you will also provide more or less. pressure, this brush doesn't have much of anything so I'm going to dry the brush on its side to get the wood grain look because it's set up just a little bit so I just barely brush it over the top, I'll pull it just enough . to give it a natural wood grain effect, it smells dusty, so now we're going to use the dark and I think it's going to be a lot easier, so I have black gray, it's actually ebony leather gray and in In the old masters I'm using dark mahogany, so if you make the ends consistent with what you have on the table, just take it all the way and you'll have a more consistent look and you won't have to.
Use it again, okay, again, this is my brush that doesn't have a lot of stains, this product takes all night before it's dry enough to do anything. I would probably wait 48 hours, but what do I mean by dry. It's too dry to move around and do it a little bit well, so we have a lot darker on this side. I really think this is the side I like. It might even be worth cleaning it with these. two center pieces because I think this is what I really want to do here, but we'll see, so I decided, I actually did a poll and everyone said that side looked better, so I agree, so I deleted this section.
Below with the two table leaves and the white steel with paint thinner I removed everything and made it look like this, so now we are going to do the finale now that we know what we are doing and what we are going for. It's going to be a lot easier, but you really and truly know that's the process I use when I'm creating. This is art and I never know exactly what I'm going to go for when I start. The good thing is this dark mahogany color that I love so much and that adds all the warmth.
I didn't even think about um, you know, I'll go into this palette here and it

turned

out to be what I had when I decided on it. I wanted to add warmth and I'm really happy about that, so a lot of times things that you didn't even think you were going to do are going to be your favorites, so that's what happened here, so again I'm going to go. On top, I'm adding Modern Masters Gel Stain in Dark Mahogany. I am adding a varathane climate gray wood stain. I love this. You can have it as opaque as you want or as transparent as you want, whatever it is.
What you can do is keep your heat together and your cold together. So when I add these two colors, the color that I'm going to add with the gray will be black and the color that I'm going to add. What I'm going to add with the mahogany is going to be the taupe color because they're both the taupe color is definitely warmer than that gray now the lighter color I actually went a little too wide here I don't want it as wide as I really wanted it It's going to be a little more streaky, so I'm going to pull some out and see how I get those tight streaks.
That's actually more what I'm looking for, so what I could do is just take a little bit out of here, maybe. I'm layering as well because as I layer, as it starts to set up, as I start dragging, that's how you get that color depth, so layers are pretty important. I think the sides have enough time to touch, so I'm just going to Drag again, I'm using my fingertips because as I create pressure in those areas, there's a ridge there, okay, so I'm going to use my brush that doesn't have much, this is what I've been using. to soften these lines and again, like on the other side, I'm just barely putting any pressure on, it's probably a little bit drier again than I wanted, so I'm going to go against the grain by blending it out and this just blends the The colors come together a little bit. and then I'm going to follow the grain and the brush strokes that I created in this direction will now fade away and now it looks like some kind of exotic wood, of course, there's nothing like this in nature. but we're just going to make it up and call it exotic wood, so here's something cool, when this is all dry, I'm going to go ahead and put a top coat on it, um.
I'm going to use a water based top coat, I think Verithane has one, but if I wanted to add more streaks like this and get a little more drama, what you don't want to do is apply this even when it's dry. because it might reactivate it, so you want to put that top layer on now. The good thing about these stains even though they are oil based, if you wait, I would wait 48 hours, so if you wait 48 hours, you can put on a water based acrylic top coat. the layer of this mint wax has a really good, like I said, maybe varithane has one, but you want to use a flat varnish, although you don't want anything shiny at all, so you'll varnish this and it dries.
I don't know, probably an hour or so, but wait until the next day and then add a little more. It's just a process of creating the look that you like, so let's put everything back together, put on the top layer and then finish preparing our chairs, okay, so we're done with this project. I'm really happy with how it turned out, so I love the light colors on the chairs. I love the angsty. I think it turned out so beautiful. The seat cushions are fantastic, they are so neutral that they go with anything, so what I really love is all the different colors that we put on this table and what I like is that we have warmth. we have cool colors, we have lights, we have darks and so this will literally go with anything, so if I change my decor around it, in this case, this is used for staging, so it's going to change all the time This is very versatile, so when you choose your colors and paint something, think about that, try to be as versatile as possible and include as many shades as you can and then when you change things around it, it will still be relevant, it will still be relevant and you will still be able to use it.
