DCS Module Buyer Guide Review: F-16C ViperFeb 23, 2022
hello everyone i hope everyone is doing great today we are going to do the grim reaper
reviewof the f-16c
moduleon dts world now the first thing to point out is that we will do it mid november 2020 it is not complete , it's still largely in early access and so we'll update this video when it's done, but that's probably a year from now. I've put it off for as long as I dare but you guys are asking me for more and more so let's get on with it as usual let's look at the structure of this
reviewto make sure it's empirical as we can do it and I'll do my best to make it empirical objective rather than subjective, so we'll look at it. the capabilities right now in early access what you get for your money in terms of weapons sensors navigation and various two we'll look at kinematic performance all planes in dcs i measure their kinematic attributes their speeds their accelerations their climb rates their turn rates their rates spin just about everything you could possibly think of one.
I have a huge database and let's see where the f-16c fits in three. We will see the visual effects inside the cabin and outside the plane. Four sound effects. back in and out five interactivity and details that's how interactive the cockpit is in general how many buttons work how many mfd functions work how are the systems behind those functions and so on six we'll look at the flight model really hard to do it's very hard to be objective and not subjective about this but we will do our best to rate the flight model in terms of various parameters seven a quick look at difficulty in terms of one to five how hard is it to learn where an a10c is extremely difficult so which is five out of five where a christian eagle is extremely easy which is one out of five and finally eight since this plane was launched what has the story been like?
Has it been a buggy plane like some? that's real life that's the way it is or has been relatively problem free and keep things as empirical as possible and give you as much information as possible points three, four, five and six will be graded between one and five, where five is good , one is bad and we'll log into a spreadsheet that I'll link to you in the video description so you can compare this directly to all the other planes please note that I reserve the right to change my score at any time and that's just because I may change my mind when I learn a plane better or I might change my mind and firm up the score a bit more and also not only will you get my score you will see the score of the other Grim Reapers who have that
moduletoo and can get a score average of that and that's the best most serious and sensible way we can do of reviewing the module quantitatively so with that let's start with the capability. on the weapons we currently have got early access so on the outer turrets we can have and this is interesting with this plane we can have the medium range missiles on the turrets we can have an a120b amrap or a c version or a lime mic or x ray is there a firing version of the a9 sidewinder or a 9m capture training pod we may have this training pod again in the next few boilers where we may have exactly the same air to air missiles and pods again training pod x pylon , we can have air-to-air missiles exactly the same but we can also have air-to-surface missiles the agm adhc harm anti-radiation missile as well as a series of agm-65 mavericks in allow 117 or allow 88 we have four versions the delta and the golf infrared focused versions or the hotel and the kilo optical
guided versions for the delta and hotel may have a choice of one two or three as they are the smallest warheads bomb faster ba the cbu 87 or the cbu 97 the smarter laser
guided homing version gbu 10 or gbu 12 or unguided a slick mark 82 or a mark 82 snake eye or a mark 82 air or a 2000 pound variant mark 84 we also have a ter9a rack which can hold multiples of what we talked about above plus three bdu-33 training bomb pods a travel pod for your lunch or training rockets in allow for three 19 times 2.75 inch racks with various high explosive warheads willy peat white phosphorus high explosive anti tank white phosphorus again and white phosphorus again then on pylon six we can have the damaging bombs and these are the same ones we just saw before also fuel tanks with 370 gallons each pod just one travel pod and the same rockets that we saw earlier in the chin pods as they're called we've got five right we can have very important we've got the targeting pod Li modern ghtning 2 and this is going to allow us to search for precision and air-to-ground engagement central pylon a fuel tank for 300 gallons and trip capsule and 5l is currently empty those weapons that we can have we also have the internal rotary cannon m61 20 mil mandatory air-to-air or ground and we can have these different types of ammo for the weapon we might as well take a look at flares and chaff here a pretty decent amount of 120 separate rounds however we like below, let's see the sensors on the left screen that we can see our radar screen we have an air to air radar we will also have an air to ground radar the air to air radar is a modern contemporary post-doppler radar with ranging while search and track wall sweep this is coupled with an iff interrogator note that on this aircraft, the iff symbology will be displayed on the radar but not on the hud, unlike the a vickon as with contemporary planes using the truck while the scan feature allows us to send multiple amras to multiple targets at the same time we also have a modern contemporary rwr as you can see here it will be pretty similar to anything from the 80s onwards.
We have a full link 16 datalink so we can share information with donors. I don't have anything to show here but we would show friendly aircraft, hostile aircraft, surveillance aircraft for optimal situational awareness and it's nice even though it's a small display it's a nice hsd good for situational awareness in terms of sensors we also have a radar altimeter in terms of navigation we have a modern egi so an insertive inertial navigation with gps we can use colored mfds for navigation we also have a more traditional hsi down here as well as we have tactical air navigation and turn to let us find, for example, refueling and air-to-air bases.
We have an ils instrument landing system for ifr approach and landing which is bad visibility and the model we have here looks like we are also going to get an adf automatic direction finder for radio beacons at this time not yet implemented some other features the mandatory modern commands a countermeasure system currently cap flare others are not relevant and we can set them to various deployment methods manual semi-automatic fully automatic and different chat and player programs that we can program although it says missile warning system here the block the aircraft model that we have doesn't have a missile warning system we have a contemporary jammer here just a white noise jammer in DC currently not implemented but obviously we do have a helmet mounted display currently as of Nov 2020 for air to air only but we will also get air-ground functionality to in it Excellent communications.
We have radios com1 com2 we have ufc control here we also have control via a manual uhf head down here we have a nice modern pilot copper interface through a ufc here and a ded here so this ufc mates with this ded here this is a reading and this is a general layout of the entry cockpit is twice the multifunction displays are shown here and the traditional flight instruments here the fuel engine instruments here with the right auxiliary console the left auxiliary console and finally a nice hud modern one o If the best huds in dcs in my opinion are based on its functionality and what it displays.
Now we come to the kinematic comparison. We have the different categories here and unless otherwise stated all of these tests are done with an isa environment with a drag. the index is set to zero with a 10 percent internal fuel load on aircraft fuel burn disabled and will say if there are any other stipulations first and foremost low speed max altitude absolute king as always is the ads 37 and mach 1.32 so we have got the new model of the tomcat at 1.31 and then and this was really surprising to me because I never thought the f-16c was that fast but I generally find it to be very accurately modeled on dcs and we know that because we compare it to the em shows the power management graphs of the real f-16c, and we have third place mac 1.3, so it's blazing fast to get it that fast, remember to take your turrets off as soon as you keep your guns. mounts and the like th is much slower anyway high sustained max altitude and instant max dive we have the mig 289 an absolute king and mac 2.83 but remember this is a fc3 plane and these just aren't that realistic it's just a fake figure f-15 is about right we think 2.6 and the f-16 is down here on mac when measured at 2.01 and max instant dip at 32 000 of 2.09 actually i thought it was going to go a little faster than that but that's just what we thought measured in we can't do better than the next low altitude acceleration from 300 to 650 knots true speed and we have the new king is actually the f-16c in 15.12 seconds just slashing the reigning champion that was the f-15c so in terms of acceleration, low altitude clearance, recall and a zero drag dex this is as fast as we can get right now in terms of acceleration for the actual plane.
Actually, I couldn't find any details about it, so you'll have to leave it to me. know if you think this is realistic in terms of drag and power to weight ratios but this is what the same actual speed test is like again this time 15k and we're not as fast this time we are second though 21sec 68 so which is still pretty powerful next rate of climb very important and absolutely this thing goes like a scolded cat says crazy beat mig 29 on a climb nothing beats a mig-29 on a climb and not just beat it but beat it by uh what five four seconds i mean thats ridiculous again its realistic i couldnt find this particular information.
This is the rate of climb from zero knots. This is what we call a qra scramble, so you set the timer from zero and then go up to twenty thousand feet and follow the same profile for each plane. same climb profile and it's so damn good so kinematically so far average is pretty much the best plane we've got uh rate of climb test slightly different from uh where is it from 600 knots this is a rolling stop from sea level to 20,000 and it's 2nd place again only just trimmed by the mig-29 so really amazing stuff the following maximum sustained slew rate this is incredibly important and we do this test with a 50 gas charger this test has meaning and implications slightly different so we've done it with uh 50 throttle we got uh now this really interesting test f14b is the reigning champ at 24 degrees per second with 30 degree flaps i think that was a high degree of flaps to get both f a18c This is incredibly controversial and no one knows if it's true or not because the EM charts for this plane are still classified.
I can't get them out of d e d. f16 is 20 degrees per second remember 50 throttle so the 22.5 claimed by the real plane is with 10 throttle this is 50 throttle and so it is accurate it is comparable to real life em charts at 20 degrees per second and that's just where it fits right behind the jf-17 that we're not too sure about the mig-29 fa18 max sustained angle of attack with the various parameters we looked at we found it here at 195 cass and 23 deg max angle of attack sustainable if you want to know more about how i did this test i have a video for each test on the peak aircraft performance playlist you can go and watch and see exactly why i did this particular test and how i did it ok , instant max altitude climb we got the not too impressive f-16 88,000 ft and hold aka ceiling where you actually do a slight climb to 65,000 ft we've got the roll rates now we've got different types roller you've got aileron, slow aileron, fast aileron, rudder, elevator, aileron and rudder so it's pretty complex but let's run a rough ride so f16 on aileron alone at 300 knots is pretty bad at 173 degrees per second for some reason not rolling fast at 300 not 600 knots 217 degrees per second rudder and aileron elevator so I guess you I'm going to call this a snap turn and it seriously improves here to 186 degrees per second , very limited by cable flight, obviously,You know this is it here, it's going to be limited by the fly-by-wire aileron and rudder. 201 degrees per second vw limited and that's the end of our kinematics generally speaking he's a real tall performer next we're going to look at the visual effects and give him a rating first we'll see the cockpit then the exterior model now It's a bit of a dark cockpit, so just to help, we're going to artificially raise the camera now, the best part is that this can be a bit subjective, the graphics some people will like, some people won't.
I'm going to spend five or ten minutes slowly going through the cockpit and you can make your own decision about the textures about the mesh, the resolution, the textures I think it's absolutely top notch I think it's probably up there with the best in dcs which is going to being the f-14 tomcat i prefer this i think it's better than the hornet in terms of graphics in the interior i love these kind of seat textures we have it looks mega you can see how little you know hairs coming out and ha done a really good job this is of course a modern you know 2020 or 2019 you know there is a modern module so it's kind of what I would expect now bad job on the f-16 module with this screen it looks very nintendo 8 bit if you know what i mean very poor but after i saw in a real cockpit f-16 huh its not a real plane but you know video of a real plane this is exactly how it looks looks very cartoonish and the real one looks exactly like this or maybe even worse in terms of you know the graphics are really interesting shadows absolutely top notch huh you'll see later when we're flying around the shadows dynamically move around the gauges in the cockpit, you know, as far as I zoom in, that's all I can zoom in, it doesn't break the texture, which is pretty great, wow, I've never noticed, this is the first time i do it.
I noticed these things look you can see even the rust on the bolts and the the code numbers on the bolts and things turned at different angles never seen that before there was a lot of attention to detail here from the rough textures on the indicator lights sticking a little break in there so look at the detail here this kind of tie is amazing a little bit of a break in there i love this seat belt and the great job on this there is this texture there it picks up around the other side you got a good eye full of what's available so you can zoom right into these knobs here and you can't really see any polygons or anything so it must be a very high triangle count thanks red oh that must be it the panic button.
I've never seen it before. Yes, that's the panic button. The thorniest break going on there I never noticed that bottle before I never noticed this mount here I wonder what that does because I think it's your hmd oh it's really sensor how about that's ok so that's in the cockpit I mean t Basically, it's as good as it gets in DC right now 2020. I'd say it's comparable, you know, roughly, an eagle with an awesome cat when you look here. I've never seen these things before, okay, one thing I'd like. I'll also show you that I like to fly this plane with all my internal lights on yeah it's stupid yeah it's not realistic but it gives off a really cool glow in fact it's so bright today it might not show up very well but no , it's a little too bright to say it gives a cool green tint to everything um but yeah anyway that's it come on and let's take a look outside so leave those are your antennae uh uh it definitely is best looking booth in dc the copper has a certain tint to it and is really high resolution sorry the canopy i mean the canopy not the booth oh wow have you seen these things happen in the landing gear when you make the nose say it has these little actuators that move? i've seen that again i've never known it's just something you don't think about when you're because here 500 knots in the multiplayer server now i've always had a little problem if i raise my cursor try with this area this kind of back of the i don i don't know what it's called the top of the view it's big the textures have never worked for me it's better it's much better since they released it's just i don't know if you know what i mean the rc but this one that looks top notch that looks top notch that looks good but this type of rear end of aircraft has never been perfect for me but i mean i'm not saying it's bad i'm not saying you know it's a great model but there's always been something there it just doesn't work for me but maybe i'm just being too picky i mean it looks pretty good yeah i think that's very, that's maybe subjective so i'm the only one who's ever complained . about it as far as i know oh it doesn't have tire textures naughty wagon you've seen it's some kind of thai texture must t be new maybe not i just can't see it i'm just going to take a look at the uh oh, that's unfinished, but is that the angle you're at? yeah I'm going to take a look back, I love how that shadow is cast. the brother is pretty he is actually very smart i dont know how they do it oh this is all done automatically for them so i never looked in the jet tube before oh you can see you can see the turbine spinning , Oh thanks.
You are powerful for saying no. I really don't think there's any tire texture down there. I'll see that it's just jet black everywhere I look. obviously, you have animations for all these buttons and things to move. The only other thing I'd like to quickly show if I can get it off the ground is the kind of atmospheric effects when we pull high alpha because it's really noticeable, probably more noticeable in this. plane than any other we're just trying to get a high angle ck and you'll see what I mean I mean it's really super duper not cool I don't know I don't know how you do that kind of effect it must be some kind of smoke effect but in this plane here looks absolutely great the notch no rc and the jeff 17 presumably because of these kind of hidden areas here huh that and it also has a folded wing so if you look there it's subtle but if you look there the wing is actually bent when loaded by the attack handle so there's kind of a big shot there so the rating to me is a clear five out of five i rated the hornet five i rated the tomcat five so that's about as high as it gets basically maybe those ratings will change as you know future years will come and the graphics will get better and then it will make this look worse but you know that's just the way it is i'll see you interested while i have you rating the graphics from one to five or zero to five I guess it's four out of five oh controversial ok I'm not going to laugh I'm just going to give it a five it must be perfect and those tires aren't perfect that's fair enough as long as you have a justification for your answer, which is the one you have, so that's that, uh, right next, we're going to go see the sounds, let's restart. we're going to do this based on the parameters we've done previously to keep it as objective as possible inside the cockpit outside the cockpit we're going to do the motor spool and the full spectrum of the motor we're going to do an exterior flyover we're going to do interior sound angle of attack we are going to make wind speed sounds we are going to make high g sounds first is the engine this is a good point to say and i will keep it as fast as possible i have interviewed many real life fighter pilots a over the years and i've talked to anyone real life fighter pilot has three main senses sound visual i guess they have spell too but the sound and feel of those three are the most important. it's not visual or sound it's actually the feeling that most pilots I've talked to fly the plane for the feeling that the backing is the visual uh I don't know myself tactically but how do you really feel the plane and you fly the plane and then and then the sound in DC we are virtual pilots we have no feel so all of that needs to translate for us to purely visual no peripheral vision just a 16x9 or i guess i could have a vr headset and sound basic so it's incredibly important that devs get the balance of the visuals, fix the cabin shaking, you know, stalking them, the smoke, whatever you call it, steam that we saw in there and the sounds and sounds are going away Mix. correct many planes and dc have been ruined not ruined but not as good as they could be because sound mixes are wrong going to fly mig-19 has almost no engine sound completely ruins the module for me so let's first look at the engine noise it's very important that you can hear it the engine spool again the real pilot knows from the vibration that we don't have that we have to know from the engine sound you know that in a fight of dogs i can't sit and watch my mouthpiece position so i have to know about the sound huh disclaimer i have my normal mission sounds as you can see nothing has been changed, tricked or edited so It's exactly how you'll hear it on a mission and this is my favorite engine sound. phones on that you can hear everything perfectly and it's also a beautiful mix now i know you're going to say oh you can change the sound settings i don't want to do that i shouldn't have to do that edie do it for me so i play my 80 bucks because it's her responsibility get it right now.
That beautiful big chunky afterburner that some of you might not have. It's actually an optional extra extra that I love. better in dcs right now some of you like tomcat sounds tomcat i think they are an Absolutely terrible however literally tomorrow we are getting a big update to tomcat sounds which is much needed. Let's go and take a look outside. This is so powerful I'm not going to be able to hold this still. to not much of a transition from mill power to full burner there which is disappointing let's try again i see there i must admit it's a real disappointment i mean you're gonna go to rf lakenheath and see the f- 15 and when you go from mill power to afterburner there's a big difference in the external components but there's nothing here I can't tell any difference at all I haven't noticed before and to me that's disappointing huh so let's start where it is the opposite of static. get dynamic let's make the tire noise i want to hear cause i can't feel i want to hear the tire noise probably need that afterburner sound but on the inside as well as on the outside as well as on the inside i can hear a good gr umble tire and it's good is the mix is good with the engine sound listen tire grip not too much not too little again some planes got it wrong ok that's good be ready for the next wind speed so listen at 200 knots how it sounds in terms of wind speed wind speed in a relay almost all real planes are a big deal so listen listen that background noise is growing altitude altitude alright alright it's alright it's easily discernible it's good in the mix no it's overwhelming how some of my planes are perfect IMHO the next one will be a high alpha no high g has too high g first so let's get rid of m i g and listen i'm a pro at least we can hear the black outside.
Should we try again? I'll do that without further ado as well because realistically you'd have an afterburner wanting to hide. Oh, this is really true, but it's a bit low, isn't it? What I'm hearing is not just the angle of attack, but that. I really let you know it's obviously you got the visual effect but we're not talking about the visual but it's a little low for me I can I could be a little bit in real life on your helmet it would be really you know and you know because you can see the actual videos of the cockpit recordings it's a little low in the mix for me so next is a high angle of attack we were doing a little bit of high angler attack but we're going to do more because heimlib attack is very important you probably know the most important thing to know you know almost anytime but especially in a fight is uh your angle of attack again a real pilot doesn't sit there and uh and watch his angle of attack like this it looks like this as lift vector and we know this because we've been told so the angle of attack will be transferred to us through um in this case the sound and the mix of the sound I'm just going to reduce a bit our speed here because the angle of attack is easier with speed, low speed, ok, you can see your angle.
The angle of attack at the bottom is called a08. It is limited to about 26 degrees in this plane. Look at this massive angle of attack. The noise is probably the loudest. I think possibly in DC. but certainly on this plane you can really hear the angle of attack well which I think is important for the reasons I say it's pretty much your most important parameter um you usually know while fighting if anything I think it might as well appear a bit soon compared to other aircraft we will look atnew so i'm going to look at five degrees six degrees it's pretty loud for 10 degrees and very loud for you know kind of 26 kind of stool guy kind of territory i think it's ok i think it's just about right to be honest um you might find that it's a bit noisy for you but since it's very important for the reasons I've mentioned I think it's pretty excellent so let's do a couple of flybys and then as far as I'm aware I actually d I don't know I was about to say i thought they could use the same sound as the f-18 but it may have changed and i may have been wrong so let's have it outside and a flyby sounds pretty good after burning that too fast this plane is too fast yea pretty decent just sounds good no complaints at all unlike some of the planes so i'm happy with the following gun noises oh god where's my gun on this thing? a couple of weeks ago maybe a week ago a new gun sound for all m61 and avenger new gun sounds presumably recorded from a booth somewhere very satisfying and very solid. you can hear the interaction of the gun and the mounts and the fuselage as well as the actual sound of the gun, i can hear a thud, you hear that thud, oh, i don't have a hammer anymore, anyway, uh, first class, uh, now they have a super hill that i didn't see.
Let's see if I'm receiving. these standby firing missiles oh there you go honey you can even see the wing flex slightly when that thing goes out I don't know why but if it does anyway I'm not going to go through all the guns because I'm starting to waste your guys time but all the guns have the necessary thumps and hisses and they know when a bomb goes off and i dont know what it sounds like in a real cockpit because im not a real pilot but it all sounds good enough kind of for a virtual pilot to know that thing has been dropped and shot so i rated a hornet a 4.5 because it's good it's up there um cat is rated a 3.5 at the time of doing this sounds terrible in the tomcat the outside but i know it's about to be fixed i have some views but that's what i have so i'm off i have to rate this near perfection because it has the advantage over the hole it has it has that clear sound of the motor reel or that you just don't get as much in the hornet, so I can't make it perfect.
I'm not saying it's five because I just got a little error there, so I'm going to say I know it's weird, but 4.75, which brings us to this: the flight model, the flight model is really hard to talk about. objectively but I'll do the best I can right now luckily I'm in a position where I have all the modules and because of how I do it I fly almost all of them because this is a limited wired flight. the plane is largely not a shaky plane it's controlled by what it can actually do and how it feels in many ways flying by target means i can't really compare it to a non-flying plane passing through like a tomcat like a mig-19 like a f86 i have to compare it to other fly-by-wire variants like the f-18 like the jf-17 like the mirage 2000 and th The good thing i can say is of all limited fly-by-wire aircraft and i don't like fly-by-wire by the way i hate it i find it arcade easy no challenge and a bit boring but you know that's how the real plane is, this isn't daddy's downside about the module itself, It's going to be my favorite of all and the reason is again very hard to say why it's all about the feeling of how you connect to it and most importantly how it tells you what it's doing for the reasons we talked about earlier.
It's very important that the aircraft, the module, translate how it's reacting to speed, angle of attack, things like those maneuvers you're pulling. through the vibrations through the smoke through the sound and stuff like that and we've got just the right amount of vibe and stuff like that obviously we've got you obscuring its vibe there it's not too much you can fly tom you know it shakes you to pieces what i heard is really true of real tomcat pilots, i find it too much for a simulator, but i understand i may be wrong. I find it extremely well balanced and I also find it very smooth.
Now I understand that this plane is probably the most flyable. wire controlled plane of all the planes in dc along with the jf-17 however to me it actually feels like the least restricted, least controlled wire controlled plane and dc compared to say the mirage 2000 just because of how it feels and you'll just have to trust me I really have no way of quantifying that either I don't have any charge you can put up to show stick and maneuver versus because you know I just don't I don't get it at the end of the day, it's just flying this thing for hundreds of hours or whatever that wrapped up in this plane.
I just know what it feels like. has had a comment from the stream the hornet wire flight is absolutely lifeless i agree and that's exactly why i don't like hornets i feel like it feels like a spaceship because it doesn't have and again we can't quantify i can't quantify the current can't quantify it's just something your brain can tell you this is anything but lifeless you can see you see it swaying it's giving me all the information i need to know i'm drawing too much alpha and that things are going to go wrong beautiful telling me too tall I'm too high alpha and spreading the alpha gone hours in the wind speed lifting everything feels really top notch so in terms of feel along with the planes that don't fly by wire like you know you can spit out a p-47 or something that really feels top notch in terms of what you can get it to do they're wire it's about aerobatics and stuff pretty much nothing because the flying job isn't going to let you do a lot of dangerous things look what we can do here well we'll do a tail slide probably not because everything we fly by wire he's saying look look at him move move those surfaces i'm not commanding those back surfaces i'm a neutral stick he's doing them for me because he's trying to get my nose down i can crash here i must admit put my nose down for me and i can even pull out ah shame to me anyway I don't think you need me to go on and on there huh now that's really a really interesting point it has a 26 degree angle of attack limiter and you can actually crash this plane quite easily because you have That angle of attack limiter.
The actual plane has an override that allows you to pull as far as I know. Infinite angle of attack. We don't have that feature on our plane yet. I don't really have anything to add, I know it wasn't particularly thorough, maybe not even a very professional view of the flyby, sorry about the flight model, but I personally think it's top notch in the way it feels on the the way it handles high speed the way it handles low speed and the way it handles weather because remember you know stupid 200 mile an hour winds use that because we like to test things and push them to the limit everything reacts perfectly the landing gear reacts with ground surfaces you know as far as i know it glides perfectly great it doesn't feel locked up it doesn't feel bad the flight model so everything feels good from the ground though it's a challenge on the ground, uh, it rolls over a lot, um, again, that's the aircraft instead of the module, it's some kind of trike landing. gear i guess you would call it so you have to be careful and it takes a while to get the hang of it to take off and land ok i was just talking to rc on the stream behind the scenes there we can't really find anything I'm not saying there isn't a problem with this module, but the flight model, which is what we're rating it on right now, we can't find a single problem with it, so I probably think I'll vote.
That five out of five uh I'll look at it for interest anyone fly it a lot I feel how it feels for you it has what kind of score you give it feels good I would give it a five out of five what do you think of that? about how I as a human can interact with the machine so some modules in DC for example when there are two sides to this how many controls are actually modeled here how much work and do things and also behind the buttons and controls how many of those background systems work so at the top of the class you would have for example an a10c as far as I know every button there every dial switch works you know which ones are available to work, obviously you know. you can't measure things like oxygen and the like within reason and also there are so many background systems measured huh model for that a10c probably more than any other huh huh system huh sorry , module in DC, since you know most of them.
I probably never even look at it I know you know you find new ones every time I look at the a10c so first we'll take a quick look at the copy and really look if there's anything that isn't modeled I mean things like little switches but even if you may. I can't think of any examples right now, but you should be able to at least press them and then have to make a little sound and stuff, so come back here. I don't even remember what all of this is, but you know it does, it does what it's supposed to, all of this stuff is switchable, rotatable, adjustable, various trims and things that will probably ruin the plane.
Now all your lights, everything is feasible. I can't remember anything here. that doesn't care what i press i guess so i know i shouldn't have done that move down here i just got the complaint from the stream that um these controls aren't modeled on the hotas so oh the stick gone here and here um now you don't click these what you do is press t The actual hotas button on your physical stick but the complaint is that the knob button should rotate and you better check that before make that assumption so press the trigger yes that's correct i'm pressing the trigger so the trigger doesn't move. so that's a little thing i've never thought of that until now so yeah the hat adjustment doesn't work so it's a little bit noisy but on other planes like i'm just thinking f86 saver , I think that you. you know you push the trim buttons up and down and left and right and they actually move on the sticks little things like that there are some planes that are animated and some that are not roger yeah , I know it sounds a little petty but then again when I'm paying 50 80 that's a lot of money for one thing then it's the kind of thing you know it's the kind of thing that bothers you a little bit so it's nice to get comments like you're hitting a trim hat switch it's nice to be able to look at that stick and make sure you're pr testing it yeah it's not a good idea so if it's not it doesn't feel like it's clipping right , well if you can see the actual clipping going up to the bottom left and right then you know what's a little thing yeah I'm just saying others on the f5 and other things do maybe um maybe that's kind of a complaint that we should really introduce um and obviously we'll highlight in e this video and we'll move on so that's the thing um radio sounds everything is working i just have to turn up the volume turn down being stupid everything works around here the radio head works as far as i can remember i'm not going to press this because it will probably blow the motor huh all this works works ah finally something not working oh no it's not a button that's why haha it's a fuse uh finally something working that handle doesn't work ah got you mr w there yes all around cmds everything works so remember everything this works what is this im dumb oh we ain't hooked yet that should work but its good for s ee even the animations done little animation there everything goes here i have never impressed these buttons actually cant remember what they do but they work maybe just blot those lights all here all these other speeds work obviously they don't do anything uh the ones on the roger side uh you hit it moves your throat it moves and your pedals move uh everything over here works everything in the ufc everything works over here everything works over here works right aux ok console should say everything there everything that everything there what is that works that works nucleic acid even nuclear can works the same and obviously you know it's relevant irrelevant oh it doesn't work it doesn't work pocket chairs no oh she doesn't change that's what bothers me a bit because it would It hasn't taken me long to model it I know we don't have nukes on this but, well , you know it would be nice to pay you a lot of money again if you could move that. switch to the right and it wouldn't take much for them to do that, no it doesn't do anything, but you know that's when that's why we're here doing this at the end of the day.
I just found out it's a step up. switch down for the uh look yeah i never knew that wowzer that's cool ok so we found a switch there that doesn't work uh nothing is the only thing that needs to move whatever um i wanna say, alwaysthere is a lot of this that does not go. to work on environmental control part will but it's good i can move at least move the bits even if some of them are modeled the same i think there is something there that is not modeled no maybe not , none of this is model. none of his model but you can flip the switches to the right so it makes me think ok you know Wagner put a lot of effort into it it's worth my eighty bucks there's a few bits in there special model so it's probably a 90 in terms of copy controls, I say. it's 99 percent which is average good news the module is um just a couple of bits getting modeled there again this is early access ya know but that's what i have to work with huh , and the armrest should be flipped to the armrest, apparently this should be flipped too. and we can't do that in terms of systems behind these commands um and we can interact with a lot of them through the left mfd right mfd and the ded here if I went to a list I can open a main menu and there are other main menus I'll say population ded right now i'll see how full would you say it is 50 percent 40 percent 80 oh i'll really say this yeah there's probably three or five that aren't populated yet for example uh vip not destinations not a couple others in the another list ok i'm going to find pretty much the same thing with these guys here we went back to the main menu we have tgp it works if you have a fire control radar dgp it works i don't think all the commands are working and i don't i don't think everything is ready yet, but most of you know that the important thing is that your gun works with the agm 65 at the moment, that's pretty good. work um hsd works if fully populated yes not entirely sure probably not dte no test no uh flcs nothing else some other probabilities not working there so i dont know what percentage is complete somewhere i think we are going to argue somewhere between 50 and 80 percent by the looks of it I'll see in terms of these types of systems we can use or just total yes in terms of mfd and ded and ufc I'll let's say somewhere between 100 is 100 doesn't work like the pfc pilot fault panel roger uh that's in there so that's just not in a tool at the moment yeah ok that's another example so we have to qualify now there's no point in guessing that you know what it will look like when it's finished we can also rate it as-is so I have to know that we determined that about 99 of these controls are animated models and they do what they're supposed to do somewhere between 50 and 80 percent of these systems in the emfd is in the ded in the ufc huh the pilot system here and maybe somewhere else i'm not even thinking about it so i really want to rate it high because i like the plane but it should be my job rate it actually so i'm going to say 3.5 out of 5 overall as it stands right now and obviously we'll change that when it's fully eh completed your urc thoughts i'm going to go with a three three five see ok we're not too far off next So, we'll be looking at the difficulty and not just the difficulty of flying the plane, I mean, that's a part, but also the difficulty of learning all of the systems, all or most of the weapons are most of the techniques that you have to cover. across the spectrum so the hardest right now is the a10c i mean it's actually not very hard to fly but there are so many systems weapons subsystems sub-subsystems you have to learn so many controls to improve them It's controls do so many things now hard it's hard and I know because I can't do it I've learned it three times now and I still can't fly it properly it means it's hard to fly I'm sure many of you would agree so that it's a five out of five on each side of the spectrum a ce2 where you can literally just take off and that's it and land and do stunts or a fc3 plane where you know it's kind of silly to go towards arcade mode which is one out of five ok , a hornet out of interest and this is again subjective in a way that i stand by i put it 4.5 out of 5 maybe i should narrow that down to around a four now that i think about it because there are a lot of systems there is a lot to learn there are a few subsystems to learn things like navigation there's a lot there's a lot when you get in there i mean the plane's deadly fireflies but the systems are a lot there's a lot of weapons to learn it's going to take months to sit down and learn a hornet is just as it is and that's key huh taking off and landing is a bit tricky for me so you have to get used to that but it's very easy to fly.
The systems right now are kind of what I would say: dumb hornet as they are right now, generally speaking. so i'm going to rate this difficulty 3.5 out of 5 overall to learn as it is now remember it's going to be a lot more complicated they're going to bring more systems and they're going to have more and more complicated so eventually i'll see it end up being a four or fo your point five, but three point five as is. I'll see some input on that, uh, four four, so we come to our next field. This is history. It is about the reliability of the module in the time that it has been in service. been in service for 13 years or more, some have been in service for only a few months, this has been in service for what is surprising about a year old, isn't it? it was october just over a year in terms of comparisons probably the harrier has complained about me the most and had problems with it had a lot of bugs the tgp found bugs and messed up a bit for that module for me so i rate which i rated very low in terms of the history the example of a plane that doesn't have a lot of bugs i mean contemporary times kind of like an a10c i've had i mean it's very complicated how many serious bugs did you really know about the atm data link crc i dont work on one of the first planes they ever made yeah yeah it is more complicated yeah absolutely this f-16 i have had almost there are unbelievable odds and sobs but the real things you know you really know make you mad. i spent very little your 80 bucks on that if you remember the iff went wrong at one rc point and that meant we were iffing that bothered us we got over it but it bothered us and it's fixed now obviously i think we had a minor issue with the radar picking up a other people other than that to be honest I personally think they've done a great job there were complaints that they were released too early without enough features and you know it's up to you to decide if it's subjective at the end of the day but in terms of bugs we're just hearing from the stream right now the f-16 is better than the f-18 for bugs ok i'd say it's better than the f-18 for bugs so it's not really that good like the a-10c but probably the next best in terms of goo dness in terms of how reliable it has been any difference or any thoughts on that rc no in short for me it's my favorite huh this is subjective obviously it's my favorite modern plane e s the one that I want to fly the most is not the best that can't you know?
Shoot a Tomcat at long range and he can't get over a dogfight, to be honest a Tomcat at close range in terms of um, the feel and one thing I didn't mention before is visibility. the cockpit compares to an f good compared to anything compared to a tomcat tomcat has massive structures up here makes it very difficult to do your mission in some cases this has a beautiful air of freedom makes the plane feel light and so is the light plane and it's well modeled to feel light so I have the best time it gives me the best feel good factor and then mixes with the good sounds and dynamics we saw before it's just for me, hey, he's the one. i would like to fly more i cant fly all the time because its my job if you like self imposed jobs to touch all the different planes for you guys to show you all its the one i would like to fly right now we are a bit restricted they are kind of slow getting guns been out for a year we've got some guns we've got the 88 that's come in we've got what else we've had i'll say we've got laser guided bombs we don't have j dams right now we've got agm-65s we've got some mavericks huh but we really would like to see some more coming now let's put the j dams in there and the uh you know the ins gps equivalents in there because they lack in that department and a few others as well and hopefully they scale it up quicker otherwise it's a top bird to me ,anything you want to add super rc no that's ok hope you enjoyed that review we'll update maybe a year from now and see you then
