CRYSTAL PALACE V EVERTON | Sean Dyche's press conference | Premier League GW 32
Apr 22, 2023and obviously Dominic Calvert Lewin posted on social media to bring on Saturday, so will he be in the team this weekend? He's no doubt thinking, no doubt, the game the other day was all about him, really, you know, he got a few more minutes on the players. but it was basically for the end of a rehabilitation period. And we're really glad he got over that and felt good. I also thought that his last two goals were actually against Crystal Palace, all three to nil earlier this season, the winner. against Palace which finally secured Everton's status I think maybe in his way of thinking you know players can sometimes be like that when they have feelings for certain games certain motives and all that sort of thing um I certainly haven't talked to him about anything about how, um, my main concern has been to safeguard his return, you know, the proper return, as I call it, when he's in the best shape possible, as well as playing, and I think he's done that and what's the best way to do it because I imagine you have to be careful with the reintroduction so it is to go from the beginning and give it an hour or is it better these are all the decisions that we will obviously make before the game and the idea of the game that the dice are tested statistically through its training and sports science weighs physically but obviously A Game is a bit different you know you have to react to what happens in the game it was my decision to take it out because there was no fatigue or anything i just saw it was common sense that was coming through about 70 odd minutes and, yes, I'm pleased with Seamus Coleman.
I know Nana, how are they and any chance for them to play? Amazon rallied a bit more, so we saw that it was out there. today to see how he reacts tomorrow and then Shameless um he won't be the one for this one how big of a disappointment I guess given the influence Sheamus has had during your time here yeah it's not just showcases I mean we got to this. this tricky little spell of a couple of injuries and obviously a suspension with Duke as well so, yeah, but I mean you know you want the players to be fit, you want them fully active and that's important so we just have to make sure that getting the fit back on track well, what have you had to do with them this week just to get them back on track mentally after Fulham?

We have quite an experienced group I mean there are a couple of young Jimmy players having their debut or their W start in the Premier League but they have enough experience there to know you know they are not they are not stupid they know when we come out of them, you know what we were doing. and we came out of that, we remind them that we analyzed it with them and, you know, we showed a little bit of analysis, but generally speaking, I think they were disappointed as I was with the reaction to Just drop a goal, you know it doesn't change all football that much. that's going to be played uh and we just got off our Mark and that's important to react against what happens because you can't always control every game you know these things work against you how quickly you can react and get back in the top of the game and we've done pretty well since I've been here so we've got a pit basically just reminding players of that fact but since I started with a lot of stupid players they know I guess going back to that Mark is the reaction . you're looking and you're up against the team that has won three on the rebound to the right of Roy Hodgson.
I wonder what you did with the way they got away from the trouble they were in. uh well the new manager bounces what they call it happens um they'll look for consistency say good guys i must say roy best friend um i always like his company rayloan who you know he's one of The best managers I've ever worked with. respect for him i know he goes out the window when the whistle blows but no they've gone in and back to what they do with a group they know anyway or certainly half the group so they're not anyway , so yeah we need to be aware of how they've changed it which we are we'll make players realize that um and react on top of that and go and you know take on the challenge so come on I check with all managers if there are secret rappers in your squad seriously.
I can't catch my breath. They even ask me who is still going strong in the Premier League at 75. um, can you imagine getting to that point in your career absolutely not absolutely? no he must be mad but I know Roy a bit he'll laugh when I say that shows your work is a bit stoned but football management is a bit stoned I think it depends I think um Roy. he worked really hard early in his career, you know, training abroad and things like being recognized top managers for years and maybe that's a, you know, desire for that guy to get to real career prominence managerial later maybe, um, you know work really hard to get there and maybe think hard why not and if you've got the itch and want to do it then why don't you know but I doubt I'll be doing it at that age I'm pretty sure I won't, can I ask you about Neil Mobile?
Obviously, he's been a regular goalscorer at Premier League level, but that hasn't improved much for him so far, but how is he finding it? It is difficult for him. he keeps getting into the right areas, you know, and he's had opportunities in the games we've started him in, um, and that's all we can ask for. uh, trying to score a goal. I said no if you're in that um to score and you miss you won't hear from me and he's in the right areas and he's working hard and that's all you can ask of these players then the final timing is always up to the player at either end of the pitch, by the way, the blocking defenders keep making saves in midfield dealing with the ball breaking into play and sending it forward taking their chances you know we try and work in a way that gives them the best chances, both scoring defending and making saves from a goalkeeper and then at this point the truth is up to them in terms of their performance last week, was it a surprise to you or are there bound to be bumps? along the way with any battle against relegation um I was kind of surprised in the sense that we didn't take it from the beginning um they started to push back the nurse and then we grew into the game after the goal and actually delivered a very good 20 25 minutes I I think very good football very good uh demand from the group with the

ure and the way we did it um and the second one was like the only really frustrating thing because we didn't react to that and we've been reacting to things that have gone against us and we don't react to that and that's something we have to correct obviously it's an advantage that these players have been through a similar experience 12 months ago that they know what to expect at all um i think experience of any kind is helpful you don't want that experience , of course, but it's about, you know, and they've had it, so if it can be used wisely, then we look to do that, um, you can't really define that all the time, but I think it's I think it gives you a safer base to work from when you understand it and you understand the feeling that it's um and how to deal with it so I think we're certainly looking at that but we're looking mostly at I've talked since I got into the consistency of what we do and we lost that consistency throughout the performance against Fulham so it's not just a week-to-week consistency, it's actually throughout a game and we just lost detail a couple of inconsistent moments and he got punished and that's sometimes what the Premier League does to you and while the rest of the world studies the matches of each team in which it was involved in the battle, do you have to reinforce the message to your players? to do right now has always been the message that I reinforce anyway you know why you can control in the controllables we can control what we do what we look at performance levels the training methods what we do our planning we can control it we can't control the other people's results, that's pretty obvious, so I've always focused on what we can do from the start.I was down to 35 points last season, so 36 would have been enough to keep any team going. never is not relevant is relevant at the end of the series not now just finally ruben venagra can i check the status of your injury? that will keep him out for some time, he may need, um, surgery, we're not sure yet, uh, he's seen the specialist, so that decision will be made pretty predominantly. Whether or not he returns to the team, there will be a lot of hype around him because of the player he is and how long he's been out.
You have to handle that with him or do what the crowd has to do. a degree of patients with him being up that long um i don't have to deal with him um you know you put yourself in the group of top players for a reason because your performance delivery and several players here have done it again their time ups and downs , ins and outs, but um, that's the kind of if you got what I mean, you want you to know if I was a player, well I was, but I wasn't as good as them, but you know you want that kind of prestige that comes with those people say yes like you know you're a top player so go enjoy yourself you know i believe and i don't believe uh there's other

ure there's certainly no pressure on me apart from him to get in shape and join what we are trying to achieve is a collective attitude is not just one player the way results have been issued for a long time as an experienced coach how can you explain to me how clubs go so long without winning? What is the difference between the apartment at home and the one outside? Well here it's a little bit different because I got into a situation. a case where you know how to train with the players here, sure it's tactical, but it's also a matter of mentality, you know you have players that have to be ready like it's a home game and deliver like it's a home game, some players find it more complicated than others because of the home support of course, but in general it's a mental shift, you know, because there are some guidelines that you know about tactics and teams that have records at home because it's not just your away record home of course some teams have very strong home records compared to their away record but at the end of the day it's the mentality for me and taking on the challenge you know the noise has been enough now people say they know that They can't take this away, they can't take that away, so I'm on the players, I'm doing well, let's change it, then let's change that noise, let's change that story, something else that can change it. you know, some kind of magic dust that makes it a change, it's up to us as a collective Force to go and do it, so that's certainly what I've been relying on players you know, not waiting for things to happen, come on Go make it up and let's change the rhetoric of history.
What can you do with this player specifically to change the perception of home and away? Like you said, there are some people who struggle to play with everyone at home. there are many things that we try to do um, the list is endless. all of that aside because when the whistle blows is the key you know I mean enough teams work with enough teams traveled game days traveled before the game traveled two days for a game at the end of the day the whistle blows the mentality has to be the right one for everyone to try their hardest to go and win thank you thank you Carl.
