Hello everyone, I'm Michelle Smith and welcome back to my channel. I have a Dollar Tree DIY for you today in today's craft adventure. I'm going to show you how I made this beautiful

cross

wreath

. This

wreath

can be worn at Easter or all year round. For a long time, let me show you how to do it. Here is a list of the tools and materials I used to complete the project for your convenience. I have also included a detailed list in the description box below. Let's get started. You will need one of the Cross Wreath Shapes that you can get at Dollar Tree.

You will need four rolls of white

deco

rative

mesh

and two rolls of light purple. You will also need a package and a half of white pipe cleaners for this wreath that you will want to cover. back because of the method we're using, you'll have a lot of loops up and down the back, so you'll want to cover one so it looks nice and doesn't scratch the door. or the wall, now I'm going to cover the back with the Crafter Square belt and this one is white. Before you start attaching anything to your wreath shape, you're going to want to trace it on felt, so you just want to trace it. and then once you've traced it, you want to cut it and you want to cut it a little bit larger than what you traced when I cut my

mesh

I like to use a rotary cutter, I chose this one from Dollar Tree. They now carry it in their Crafter Square section and it works great. I have used this unique cutter on about 10 wreaths so far and it still cuts like a charm. I use the self healing mat and then a ruler which the ruler just helps maintain. The mesh is nice and straight and doesn't let it move. You want to go ahead and cut the mesh to six inches. I simply line it up with my ruler and my cutting mat. This

make

s it really easy and then I can just slide it in.

It keeps everything in place for a very clean and nice cut. The method we are going to use today is called The Petal Method. To

make

the petals, you need to grab the diagonal corners, bring them together like this and take a corner. you fold it a

cross

the front so the stitches meet, you take the other side, you fold it so you have all the stitches together and then you want to press on each side. I roll mine up to hide all those cut ends so it's all pinched in looking like you have a petal on top and you take your pipe cleaner, wrap it right at the base, pull it back, snap it and twist it, and so on.

It's what your little petal should look like. I'll show you one more time, you take the corners diagonally, put them together, take one side and fold it to the front so the corners meet, do the same on the other side and then where the cut ends. go up and just roll or pinch those sides. I think we're just going to wrap your pipe cleaner around the base. I always fold mine so I can get a good grip and twist it, this is what your petal looks like and your end should come out the back which is the flat side you want the part of the petal to show in the front to attach it to the crown shape, you are going to start in the middle, at the bottom, you are going to place the first one. one here and then you're going to put one on each side and you just take your pipe cleaners and wrap them around the two bars, pull it back, make sure it's in the middle of that space and give it a good twist. and pull down now on the two corners once you have twisted them you need to take the ends and wrap them around the outside bar and go back to the corner the reason is otherwise your little pedal will come loose and then it won't it will layer correctly, so you want the center one to be the lowest and then one on each side, this is what your first row should look like, the center one should be longer than the ones on each side, now don't worry. about these extremes as you go up you won't be able to see them.
This is a stacking method. You're going to stack them on top of each other and tie those ends together as you go. This crown on the back is messy. this would be one if you wanted to cover the back to cover it and I would use felt well so you start with one row of all white and then the next row you always do the center bar first and then you do the two on the outside. you're going to add a purple one right in the middle so it looks like this and then when you put the purple on you're going to want to pull back all those ends of the bottom row and tie them off, then you're going to do a white and another white, then you're going to do another row of white and then in the next row you will do white in the middle and purple on each side, you will have a solid row of white and then the next row will have purple and white. the next row will have all white the next row will have purple and white and you continue all the way to the top now you will work this way from the bottom to the center then you turn it around and start at the top. to the center and then when you get to the sides here, because this is not as wide as I think it should be, how long will the process take on the ends here.
I'm going to make a different little bundle to extend that length a little bit. a little bit and I'll show you that once we work on this area, I'll work on this area and do something and then I'll come back and show you what it looks like I've been working on my cross. I have almost two sections done. I would say it's a section and a half. I think it looks very pretty, but as you can see, I have one row of white, one purple, one row of white, two purple, one row of white, one purple. row of white and two purple.
I don't want a lot of purple, I just want it to accentuate it because of the

flowers

that I'm putting in the center, so here on the sides I want to extend this so that We're going to do something different in the first row on each end of the sides, so In this one you take the same six-by-six pieces, grab any of the corners, pull a little, send them down, and then roll them up from one corner diagonally. the other one that looks like this so you're going to fold it and you don't want them to be uniform you want one to be longer the bottom one should be longer than the top one so that it stays folded take your pipe cleaner wrap it around that end, pull it tight, squeeze it and twist it, and that will help extend the length on the sides, so the first one like before, go ahead and pin it right in the middle, then go ahead and put one on each side. and there you go, you have the longest ones, this will help you extend your sides from this point, just continue like you did the rest of the way, you make the petals and place them in the same arrangement with the purple and the white, but always You'll want to start at the end and work your way to the center when you're done, this little square won't have anything in it, you'll just have a bunch of ends because it's layered, you use a lot of petals, so you have quite a bit of mess on the back, which is why I suggest For this one you cover it and it is easy to cover with felt.
I'm going to go ahead and finish my base when I get back we'll put our Florals I've already finished my entire base I'm very happy with it the only thing I changed was here on the sides instead of making the white one very long I made the purple one and I'm very happy with it now, as you can see here. in the center we still have an opening, okay, I'm going to put my

flowers

there, but before we continue with that we need to cover the back, now you can see all the mess, so let's cover all of this. and take the piece of felt that you cut, I just want to leave it, place it, you want to make sure you push down all the pipe cleaners and everything is as smooth as possible and then just run a drop of hot water over it. stick right along the edge, you can stick it to align it where you want.
I also added a hook up here at the top. I just wrapped it around the two bars in the middle, pulled it up and made a loop. so that's what I'm going to use to hang it. You want to make sure you place it before you cover the back, place it and then once you have the location just add a little hot glue along the edge and place. your felt down and then just work your way down, doing one small piece at a time until it covers the entire back. I am very happy with my cross.
I have the back all glued together now the felt from Dollar Tree is pretty thin so if you have a thicker material or a better quality felt. I would go that route but this will do it for me for now, we're going to work on the center section here and to cover it I'm going to use some These beautiful Irises that I bought from Dollar Tree have five flowers per stem so you'll need a stem. I'll also add a bow and use this ribbon. I bought it for 99 cents. shop in their Easter section, but anything with a little purple to go with the purple and the wreath will work.
I just chose a floral because I wanted something neutral. I didn't want to make bunnies or eggs or anything like that um you're also going to need a full length pipe cleaner to start your bow you want to make a center loop and you want to squeeze it in there at the bottom make sure the center is big enough to open. then you'll want to add another loop on each side, even if it's wrinkled in the center. Now you need to keep in mind that this ribbon has a good side and a bad side so you want to make sure your good side looks so you have three loops you want to go ahead and add one more loop to each side so once you have the four loops and your center loop, take out a piece for the tail.
I'm going to take that end and roll it up so I have one. big loop for the tails and then five loops for the bow, one for the center and two for each side, take the pipe cleaner, you want to wrap it twice, you need it to be very tight, you don't want it to slide around, get this pretty. and twist tightly the long loop will be your tail so cut it in half and then you can fluff your bow and decide how long you want your tail and this is what your bow should look like so I'm going to start with Placing my bow and I'm going to stick it right in the center.
Now I cut the long pipe cleaners and then turn it down and fold it down at the ends. I want to make sure my bow doesn't fall apart. I'm just going to add a good amount of hot glue to the back here and attach my bow. I really love this tape. I think it looks very pretty with the purple mesh and white. Very very pretty. Next, I'm just going to add some of my own. bloom around my arch focusing mainly on the top and bottom here just add a little hot glue to your stem and go ahead and place them just want to make sure your stem is hidden thanks you can add whatever flowers you want I really liked these purple irises I thought they went pretty well with the mesh and ribbon, so I'm going to play with that and then I'll come back and show you the finished product.
I have my bow and my flowers. Really happy with the location. I think it looks very pretty. I used four of the iris flowers. I put two on top and two on the bottom. I decided not to use any of the leaves. I thought they clashed and I'm very happy. With my result I hope you enjoyed today's
