Now I know it's been a hot minute since I made one of these videos. so I'm very excited to bring it back today. Well guys, to start off, I'm going to make these Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Squares. Now that I've seen my friend fall into Moss Family. Television makes a lot of these, so this recipe is definitely inspired by hers, but I only made a few changes to my recipe, so the first thing I'm going to do is cook a pound of breakfast sausage.
Today I'm using a turkey sausage, but you can use any type of breakfast sausage that you prefer, so I'm going to go ahead and cook this sausage completely, I'm going to go ahead and break it up into small pieces and although this turkey sausage is not It's not very greasy. I'm going to go ahead and drain all the excess liquid after I've drained the sausage. I'm going to go ahead and add it back to my pan and then add a block of cream cheese. Now I decided to use light cream cheese. I'm going to keep mixing this until it's completely combined and I know it doesn't look very appetizing at this point, but trust me, it will be delicious for my next step.
I'm going to take a 9 by 13 baking pan and spray it with some nonstick spray, then open the first can of crescent dough. Now the idea is to spread this out so that it covers the bottom of our baking sheet and you guys, if you're using the crescent dough where you need to gather it, now would be the time to do that, so I'm just going to press this down so that it's as tight as possible. possible uniform. I'm going to add the sausage and cream cheese mixture now that I've evenly dispersed the sausage and cream cheese.
I'm just going to spread it out gently so it's a nice layer and I'm being gentle because I don't want to stir up the rising dough that's on the bottom, then comes the cheese. Right now I'm using about two cups of sharp cheddar cheese, but the great thing about this recipe is that it's totally customizable, so if you want to use mozzarella or pepper jack cheese. You can definitely change it up and make this recipe your own, so now that I have my cheese layer there, the next step is to add the other sheet of crescent dough and this part can be a little tricky.
I definitely think the crescent blade. The dough is much easier to handle at this point than the little triangles, so I'm just going to spread this all over the top. I'm going to do my best to tuck in the edges now, at this point. I could go ahead and put it in the oven, but I have a few extra steps that I like to add in a separate container. I'm going to go ahead and crack an egg. I'm going to go ahead and beat this really well and then I'm going to apply this over the entire top of our crescent dough, this beaten egg really helps the top get nice and golden and it will also help our last ingredient. stick to the top and speaking of the last ingredient, I'm going to wrap it up.
This goes away with a good pinch of everything except the bagel seasoning. Now it used to be that you could only find this stuff at Trader Joe's and I know not everyone has a Trader Joe's but recently I've found this type of seasoning almost everywhere and if you really can't find it you can definitely make your own . It's just a mixture of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion and salt. Seriously, I add this to a lot of my dishes, especially if I'm baking something for breakfast. delicious so now I'm going to put this in my oven preheated to 375 and I'm going to cook it for about 16 to 18 minutes and here you have the final product, it's golden brown and it's making my whole house smell like that. a bakery, it's so good now I like to cut them into squares so they can serve as snacks.
They are perfect for breakfast, but you can definitely eat them for lunch or dinner. I like to serve them with a side of fresh fruit and a little sauce or ketchup for dipping Now, moving on to lunch, I'm going to make some kid-friendly buffalo chicken wraps and you guys, my trick for making this kid-friendly and not too spicy is To use this creamy buffalo wing dipping sauce, it is made with sweet baby sauce, it tastes just like regular wing sauce, but it is much milder, so this recipe is definitely kid friendly. I'm going to start by cutting up about two cups of cooked chicken now.
I'm just using some leftover chicken I had and I'm going to cut it pretty small so the pieces will fit nicely into our roll, so once I have all the chicken chopped up I'll add it to a mixing bowl and then move on to the celery. Now, of course, I think celery and chicken wings go great together for this recipe. I'm going to use about a quarter cup of celery and I want to go ahead and chop them pretty fine. Also, now in this recipe the celery is kept a little crunchy, which I think gives a really good texture to this dish, but if you're opposed to crunchy celery, you can definitely sauté them for a few minutes before adding them along with my mixture. bowl, I'm going to add some low fat cream cheese, but in this recipe you only need about two ounces, not all of it again, this cream cheese is at room temperature so it will mix very easily and now at this point , I can Go ahead and add the buffalo sauce and you guys, this part is totally up to you.
I'm going to add about two to four tablespoons of this chicken wing sauce. You can add whatever amount you prefer and you can even use the actual spice if you want. I like that and last but not least, I'll also add about a tablespoon of ranch dressing. I think the combination of ranch and buffalo sauce is really good, it just helps add a little extra flavor. here and of course my kids love ranch so now at this point I'm going to mix everything up and I'm going to recommend that at this point you give it a little flavor since everything is cooked here it's totally sure, but I just want to give it a try because you might want to add more hot sauce and if you do now would be the time to do it.
I ended up adding about two more tablespoons of chicken wing sauce because I wanted to have the buffalo flavor, but I didn't want it to be too spicy for the kids, so now it's time for our crescent dough and for this recipe I'm using the crescent dough sheet. Now I'm going to go ahead and sprinkle some flour. That way I can roll this dough out a little bit with my rolling pin and I have it on parchment paper so nothing sticks, so as I roll it out I'm not trying to make it too thin or too much bigger, I just want it to be a little thinner, that way it will cook much more evenly and the center of these rolls won't be soggy, so now at this point I can go ahead and add the buffalo chicken filling and this is Basically, it's like making tasty cinnamon rolls, in this point I'm going to spread the filling all over the dough and once I have it all spread out, I'm just going to sprinkle a little bit of cheddar cheese right on top, this cheese goes away. to add additional flavor, but as it melts it will also help keep our buffalo chicken roll rolled up, it will act as a sort of binder or glue on this dish, then I'll cut them into pieces and then place them. on my baking sheet and I went ahead and sprayed this with a little non-stick spray so nothing would stick and I was able to get about 11 rolls out of this recipe.
I'll cook these at 400 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes you definitely don't want to undercook them they should be nice and golden brown on top when they're done guys this is what they look like fresh out of the oven and yes you can definitely dig into this one point, but to make them a little more. I just melted some butter and mixed it with some chicken wing sauce and I'm going to spread this all over the top of the buns, this will give them more flavor but it will also ensure that the top of these buns doesn't dry completely and now here you guys are the final product.
I love serving these with extra veggies on the side and maybe a little more ranch for dipping, okay? Guys, next step I will make you better than breadsticks with garlic and cheese. This is probably one of the easiest recipes in this entire video and would be a great recipe for your kids to help you make. I am going to start. taking about a cup and a half of shredded cheese and I'll add it to a mixing bowl. I'm also going to add about two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese and then to season this I'm also going to add about half a teaspoon of garlic powder, if you really love garlic you can add more or you can even use fresh garlic and then I'll also add about half a teaspoon. teaspoon Italian seasoning.
Go ahead and mix all of this together, I just want to make sure the garlic and herbs are well dispersed as evenly as possible. Now at this point I can go ahead and add the cheese to my crescent dough. This is just a can of crescent dough. and I put it on top of parchment paper so it doesn't stick and as I add the cheese here, I try to keep all the cheese only in half of the dough and I'm going to leave it out. about a quarter cup of this mixture because it will go on top before baking.
Now I told you this recipe is super easy because at this point all you have to do is fold the dough and then I also want to spread some beaten egg on top of this dough and sprinkle the remaining cheese right on top. I'm going to add this to my oven at 375 for about 18 to 20 minutes and about halfway done. I like to go ahead and take it out of the oven and score the pieces like this and that's really what's going to help create breadsticks. Once this is done, it will be a nice golden brown color with the herbs and garlic. there your whole house will smell amazing now if you are a fan of cheese you will definitely love these.
Look at that cheese thrown away. They are very quick and easy to make. I like to serve them with some vegetables on the side and a little. of marinara sauce for dipping now, moving on to a very special dinner idea, I'm going to make a classic taco ring. This is a recipe that has been around for a long time. It's super delicious. It looks impressive, but it's actually very easy. For this recipe, I will start by browning a pound of turkey. Now you can definitely use beef or any type of meat you like. If you're using beef, you'll probably want to go ahead and drain off the excess. grease and then you can go ahead and add some taco seasoning.
This is about a quarter cup of taco seasoning. I'm also going to add about a quarter cup of water, then mix this all together and cook this. on low heat for about 5 minutes, so now that the taco meat is ready, I want to go ahead and prep my skillet. This is a large baking sheet and I want to spray it with some nonstick spray and you guys for this recipe. I'm actually going to use two cans of crescent dough, but you don't want to use the sheets of crescent dough for this and as you can see, that's because you're actually going to take each little triangle and you're going to make them. place. in an overlapping circle like this, like I said, it takes two cans of dough to make this and once you're done, it should look like a sun.
Now I'm just going to go around the edges and press them down slightly. to make sure everything sticks and this will also give me enough room to add the filling right around the center. I'm going to add all of my taco meat once I have it in there, I'm also going to do the same with some salsa, this is just mild salsa and I'm not even going to add that much here because I want my kids to eat this and yeah I put extra sauce on them you probably won't appreciate it, so now I'm going to finish this off with a sprinkle of cheese and then here comes the fun part.
I'm going to take each little triangle piece and bring it up and over the center and tuck it in the middle and I'm going to continue this process around the taco ring now, as you can see, this is not going to completely cover the filling, you'll see. that peeks out a little bit and that's totally fine, that's what you want now. Guys, this next part is totally optional, but you know I love adding a beaten egg on top of my dough, it makes itnice and shiny and golden.I'm going to pop this in my oven at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes and anna check it out guys it came out so good it smells amazing.
I know you'll want to try this one for sure. I'm going to serve this one with a little bit of sauce on the side and then I'm basically going to make a little salad in the center as well, so here I'm going to add some shredded lettuce. I'll also add some tomatoes. olives and a little cheese guys I love this recipe but I also love this method of creating a filled ring and you could really use it with so many different recipes. They can make a breakfast version. They could make a dessert version. The options are endless now that you guys are last, but certainly not least, I'm going to share my favorite recipe of the whole group, which is a half-moon apple strudel braid, and you guys, this is another recipe really simple, now there are only a few ingredients to For this you will definitely want to use a piece of parchment paper.
I added a little flour just to make sure the dough doesn't stick and for this recipe you will need a crescent sheet. mass, I'm going to go ahead and open this for some reason this was giving me the hardest time, I don't know about you but sometimes I have a hard time opening these things so now I'm going to go ahead and just spread it out like most of these Recipes start now because I'm going to braid this bread. I want to try to even out the edges as much as I can. I really think that's key to making the final product look good. and neat, and whenever I make braided filled dough, I imagine the dough in three sections, you have two outer sections and then you have the strip in the middle.
Now I'm just taking a small bamboo skewer and being gentle. to mark the line on my dough, but I'm not going to press all the way in, this is just a guide to make sure it stays nice and straight, as straight as possible. Next time you'll want to cut someone. 1.5 centimeter strips at each end of the dough. You can use a knife for this or a pizza cutter. Today I'm just using kitchen scissors and the idea is that you'll want to have the same amount of strips on one side. like you do on the other one and you're going to want to try to keep these strips as spaced apart as you can, so once I've finished all my strips, this is what it looks like and at this point I'm going to actually set this aside and I am going to prepare the filling in a separate container.
I'm going to add a can of apple pie to the filling. This store-bought stuff is ready to use, super quick and easy, and if you like, you can definitely use cherry pie filling, strawberry pie filling, or even blueberry pie filling if you're not a fan of apple, but, of course I love apple pie filling so I'm going to go ahead and use that and for this filling I'm also going to add about a quarter cup of walnuts now if you don't like walnuts definitely leave them out but I really think which adds a more homemade flavor to this super simple dish, so now all I'm going to do is add our apple pie filling mix. right in the center of the dough and every time I make one of these braided bread recipes I try to ensure that none of the ingredients are too wide in the dough.
I like to try to stack the ingredients as high as I can so that You can see that I'm really trying to create a big mound of filling right in the center, so now it's time to wrap the dough and you guys, this is not complicated at all and It really doesn't even have to be perfect for this so it tastes delicious what I'm going to do is take the edge of the dough I'm going to bring it up and at the end like this then I'm going to take the first strip on this side and I'm going to fold it over. down and I'm going to take the first strip from the other side and do the exact same thing, so basically I have a little holder to hold our filling and now all you have to do is take each strip of dough.
Bring it up and up like this in a crisscross pattern and you want to make sure you do one on one side then switch to the other side and go back and forth like this until you're almost at the end and now that I have about four strips of dough left on each side . I go ahead and stop at this point and repeat the tucking process we did at the beginning at the other end so the dough comes up and over the edge, then the two strips of dough on top. the end folds down, you want to pinch the excess dough and then if my braid got a little twisted, I try to straighten it out and flatten it a little bit now before I put this in the oven.
I'm also going to give this a light egg wash all over the top and then the next part is optional, but I'm going to sprinkle a little bit of this cinnamon toast crunch powder right on top and you guys, this cinnamon toast crunch powder. cinnamon toast is actually just cinnamon and sugar mixed together, this will leave us with a nice shiny crust right on top of this apple strudel. I'm going to cook this at 375 for about 15 minutes and once it's out of the oven. look at something like this now guys I really like using crescent dough for this, not only is it quick and easy but the crescent dough itself isn't sweet so it really helps balance out all the sweetness of the apple pie filling, so in the end, you are left with a delicious dessert that is not too sweet, but if you want, you can definitely improve it a little with a little powdered sugar on top, this makes make it look prettier and if you wanted to, This is totally over the top, you can definitely serve it hot with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side and a drizzle of caramel on top.
