which i published a few years ago and i did a whole video series on that which lasted three years i just wrapped that up a few weeks ago and now here i have a brand new copy of

create

this

book

2 ready to be filled out with

thing together you can find it on amazon.com okay let's journey to the title page where you can add your name uh well actually i'm not really sure what i'm supposed to put here since my name is kind of already there let me just okay yeah sure and of course i'm gonna decorate

whole page fully later but let's let's keep moving along here we have

space that looks tempting but no no not today here's where we need to get

this

is the tips and tricks page and i'm actually going to take

this

time to demonstrate all of these tips and tricks it says right here check out mariah elizabeth's intro video on youtube and uh that's today that's what i'm doing in

this

video wow starting with the cover it's the exact same material as the cover for

create

this

book

and i know some people have had some issues decorating it so

here's what i would say to not use on the cover washable markers for obvious reasons gel pens also yeah no and watercolor kind of works but it can be irritating because the cover repels water so it's kind of like a battle situation some options that may work for you may not crayons they apply super easily but of course they will look a little streaky i guess that's kind of normal for crayons and then we have colored pencils which is how i colored my

create

this

book

some brands work

really well some no workie at all wow nothing works

this

sucks hold on hold on hold on here's what will work permanent markers work great go on easy vibrant color yeah i snuck in a colored pencil i didn't have a yellow sharpie okay don't judge so i'm just putting in a little rainbow action here and yeah works great it won't smudge why does it look like i'm not actually touching the

book

also acrylic paint you may want to do a couple coats of course but it should go on

really easily and you can get a nice bold color out of it you definitely should protect the rest of the

book

while you're painting uh but i didn't really care about that because

this

is just for demonstration purposes uh i sh why did i say it like that

this

isn't my actual

book

that i'm going to be using i'm just using

this

for example my gosh my legs are asleep if you're like me and you made a complete mess of those edges that's okay use a black pencil to clean up

your mistakes sorry sometimes i go into tacky tutorial mode of course you can also use things like stickers and sequins and whatever else to decorate the empty space or if you're a control freak me you can kind of make your own stickers by drawing on a separate piece of paper and gluing it in and once you've decorated to your little heart's content you probably want to protect the cover with some sort of clear coat or i'm going to use packing tape because it's super durable

and strong and if you ever smudge paint or marker or chocolate syrup i don't know whatever the point is you can keep it clean and never mess up your cover design now if all else fails you've made a mess you hate it it's terrible we've all been there don't forget you can just glue stuff on top to cover it up entirely you can use decorative tape to cover it up scrap

paper you don't have to keep the original cover i'm not gonna be offended it's your

book

make it

look the way you want

looks real ugly but it's it's just for an example okay it's not even a real copy of the

book

it's a proof now for the interior we have a little bit of a different struggle aha the pages are a little bit thin so if you use things like markers watercolor sharpies

this

may happen that wasn't overly dramatic at all there just isn't a thick enough paper to hold paint and markers that wouldn't make

this

book

super expensive to purchase what but

you know what again that's okay we can definitely work with that you can either stick to things like pencils pens crayons chalk you may be able to get away with some acrylic paint um i swear my art isn't always

this

bad

this

is literally just me testing out the supplies or what i do when i want to use something that could potentially bleed through the paper i just take a piece of computer paper stick it in the

book

cut it roughly to size then draw the little picture and then stick it

back into the

book

i usually glue the edge first stick the edge in there get it in place and then glue the rest glue sticks definitely work best because they won't make the paper wrinkle trim it to size and voila you just use marker without suffering the consequences benefits you can use marker on the back page without any problem because it's already double layered you see what i did there yeah we get it are you stupid i'm a pickle what's my thing with pickles recently i ended

up doing

this

for a lot of pages in my

create

this

book

and it worked out really well gave me a lot of flexibility it kept the

book

looking neat i usually do

this

on pages that don't have the directions so that i don't have to work around them but if you do have directions put the paper underneath or cut a window out you know there are ways of working around the directions as well now to protect your artwork i like to use a thin layer of matte mod podge

this

way nothing gets smudged when

you work in other places in the

book

it just keeps everything nice and fresh and neat make sure you wait until it is fully dry before closing the

book

i've made that mistake it ain't pretty you really only need to do

this

for things like pencil crayon chalk don't try it on washable marker unless you want to make your art cry you can also use packing tape as i showed on the cover but you don't really need that much durability for the inside and the tape kind of acts weird

sometimes just not all the time just sometimes it gets in a mood now that i've uh completely ruined

this

book

let's actually get started with the real one so let's move on to the first page it says

create

a fresh start and you write the beginning date your goals and decorate

this

page with things that remind you of new beginnings so first i'm gonna write the date and my goals for the

book

pretty straightforward stuff let's try not to take three years to finish

this

one hold

me to it and finally i'm gonna get some nice quality decoration in so

this

is the first page i'm doing in the

book

so i'm taking it a little easy a nice warm up page so i drew some little flowers nothing too complicated or outrageous also i really couldn't think of anything else that reminds me of fresh starts other than flowers i mean what else like a baby i don't know i don't know no that would be really weird i just went with flowers and i also did draw a baby plant

and the coloring starts out real nice and normal and ordinary but i was coloring

this

at like three a.m after about two cups of coffee while listening to 90s tv shows and things got a little wild i added green to my purple flower

this

is madness and i did go a little crazy with the colors but i think that the colors did make it a little bit more interesting and unique so it's not like basic flowers you know also if you're wondering about the materials that i've talked about in

this

video i'm going to

create

is a nice start to the

book

but not today because i'm out of time for

week i spent a lot of time on the kind of tutorial part of

kind of art but like some actually somewhat okay decent-ish art i am gonna continue to feature artwork from
