d and those that still need to be noted, it supports custom fonts.
I've made a video on how you can add custom phones to your iPad and I'll link it in the description below. You can save three. Favorite text styles in notability are labeled a b and c simply tap a template and start typing this will save you time during meetings and conferences it also gives you consistent text in your notes for example a could be for your headings b for your subheadings and c for the paragraph text, if you want to make any changes to a template, simply long press it and change the settings. It's important to know exactly how to use text inaudibility to get the best user experience outside of the app.
Technically, there is a right way and a wrong way. of using notability as it relates to the text tool and I've covered that in a separate video the eraser erases both by stroke and by pixel each comes with 12 sizes the full eraser erases an entire stroke no matter how large the stroke is inaudible Is all the inking done at once without lifting the Apple Pencil from the screen? Partial erasing erases small sections useful for diagrams, especially no one wants to draw a diagram from scratch because they made a small mistake. You can also erase just the highlighter only if you want to do that select the entire eraser if there is a highlighter in your notes the app will first erase the highlighter only with your first stroke the lasso tool select sections of your handwritten notes to move and style them, which changes their color or thickness duplicate them cut copy convert to text or delete the section has two options: a free hand or a rigid rectangular one, both will allow you to rotate and resize your notes simultaneously using the two-finger gesture, but the Rectangular will allow you to resize without rotation, so if you want to resize a section in your notes but don't want to rotate it, then the Rigid Lasso tool is the one you want to use.
Unfortunately, the inaudibility of the Lasso tool only selects handwritten sections, making it difficult to reorganize. notes if they contain other things that are not handwritten, so if you ever want to move a section of your notes that has photos and sticky notes, it is very difficult to move things, you have to move each individual type of handwriting by yes alone, photos alone. and sticky notes alone and this is not very convenient. You can turn off inking on your Apple Pencil when you want to use it to scroll through your pages. In case you don't want to leave fingerprints on your iPad screen, you can add audio recordings.
Your Notes in Notability Tap the microphone icon to start recording Notability automatically divides your recordings into 20-minute sections, although recording is continuous, there is no limit to the length of your audio and the app continues recording even when you exit the app . Remember to stop recording when you are done with your meetings or classes, otherwise you could accidentally record the whole day in notability and deleting all those audio files in 20 minute sections is no fun to stop recording. Tap the record icon again. Audio playback is synchronized. your notes, which means the app will write down the notes you're writing while you record your audio.
This is my personal favorite in notability. It makes reviewing class notes a lot of fun. I love it. What is your favorite feature in notability? Let me know in the comments section below. You can tune and manage your recordings Tuning improves your audio playback and decreases tapping noise from your Apple Pencil. You can speed up your playback up to two times or slow it down up to seven times. You can rewind your audio playback by going back 10 seconds to a moment in case you missed something and you can skip the audio playback by tapping the notes on your page.
If animation preview is turned on, this will save you time when you only want to review a specific section of your notes. you can add things to your notes photos from your photos or from your library or your camera scans gifs if you want to use the app for journaling, they can be fun web clips and sticky notes you can add multiple photos at once just tap as many photos as you want However you want to add to your notes, you'll have to rearrange them because the app doesn't organize them at all, it just stacks them on top of each other and then you have to move each and every one of them.
Notability supports drag and drop and does so even with multiple photos, which I think is faster and more convenient than using the plus icon to add photos. The app finally supports png images without any problem. You can add titles to images, wrap text around them, crop, cut, copy or delete your images, you can also rotate them. I would like the app to be able to simply add rotation for the pages. I don't know why it's so hard to do it. I do not understand it at all. You can scan documents directly into your notes. This is an edition that came with ipad os 13 and when you scan your documents you can choose if you want to add them as a pdf or as an image, if you add your scan as a pdf it will be added as a page or an extra page to your notes if you choose to add them as images , then the images are much smaller and overlap on your page depending on the style you choose.
Each option has its advantages and disadvantages that really depend on you and what you are trying to achieve in the application. The files you scan directly for notability tend to be huge and in turn make your notebooks very large. It is much better to use a scanning app for your scanning needs and then import them into the app with which you can add web clips to your notes. drag and drop or you can copy and paste them from safari. An update to this tool now takes you out of the app to add web clips to your notes.
This new setup isn't very convenient, however, the nice thing is that Notability can store web links in your notes, which is something some note-taking apps can do, so it's a plus that you can edit your web clip as you would. with any image in the app and when you want to visit the website you just cropped, tap the image and edit the crop and tap the URL at the top of the window, which is too many steps to access its web link. It's best to just copy and paste the URLs into your notes because when you tap on them, a popup appears on your screen asking can you open in safari can you add sticky notes to your notes can you type or write on them can you rotate your sticky notes now in the app and that's something I'm smiling about right now you can add shapes to the notoriety without dedicated shapes icon just draw your shape and long press like you do with straight lines.
This is by far the easiest way to add shapes to a note-taking app. You can then adjust the strokes of your shape. You can change its colors. You can change the thickness. the strokes and you can, I hope that the notability will give us the possibility to change the opacity of our shapes in the meantime, if you really just want to have a transparent shape, we suggest using the highlighter to draw your shape, you can duplicate the shape as you can. cut it, copy it or delete it and notability will recognize any shape, regular and irregular shapes, you can easily adjust your shapes to look the way you want, you can customize your paper templates, you have 15 paper colors to choose from and four templates with simple lines . dotted and graph paper, each has four different widths, these are all the options you get for your pages and you cannot add your own paper templates to the app library, making using custom pages in the app very difficult.
Notability also supports a page. The size that is a4, something smaller or bigger, is not ideal for us to use in the application and it is really difficult to get an idea of the size of the page if it is not a4 in the application. Notability has the worst page customization in any note-taking app. on the market right now, this is definitely the worst feature of the app. You cannot select multiple pages in the app if you want to move many pages at once. You also can't rotate pages in the app, making it difficult to use horizontal paper in.
Customizing the notoriety page is really too much to ask, now you can scroll your pages horizontally or vertically. Horizontal scrolling is most useful in presentation mode, which I'll talk about a little later. You can see information about your notebook, the date you modified your notes. date you created them what device formatted your notes from word count if you have any handwriting language for written notes and you can go back to previous highlighter you can preview your document pages and you can filter to see your notes These are the pages that contain annotations or handwritten notes that you have added to your notes, you can see the bookmarks.
Each page has this ribbon icon in the top left corner of its thumbnail. Tap it to bookmark a page and then you can see all your bookmark pages in one. place where you can search your notes andnotability will search your handwritten text in your PDF files and other written notes, text in your photos or images that you add to the app, and text in documents you scan into the app. OCR inautibility also converts handwritten notes to Text, converting It is very accurate, but we do not recommend it for large documents. The alignment and layout in the app is kind of ugly, so if you have a full page to convert or 10 pages to convert, this is not the ideal app you want.
If you have so many notes that you want to convert to text, I recommend using Nibble Nibble is the best handwriting recognition note taking app on the market. Convert large files. The inaudibility is a bit off-putting to be honest. Another random thought as a general rule. Note taking apps have ocr which converts handwriting to text so you can search through your handwritten notes in note taking apps. PDF readers, on the other hand, have OCR that recognizes characters from scanned documents and at the time of making this video it does not have any pdf reader. Handwriting recognition You can open two notes side by side when creating notes in notability Note picker keeps your most recently opened notes for quick access to the notes you most recently worked on You can adjust the size of each window to your liking, there are no fixed proportions for your split view as there is with the ipad os 13 for example, and this is a split view only in the app, which means that notability does not support multiple instances, multitasking with notability is a bit limited because of that and that's something to keep in mind if you're looking for an app that allows you to multitask with the ipad dark mode at the moment it only applies to the user interface in the app we like to call it dark mode full stack because your page templates and ink are not automatically converted when you switch to dark mode, so you have to use paper in dark mode, use white ink for your notes and they stay that way when you switch back to light mode.
Notability has a decent pdf. reading features, this makes it a good choice if you want to do basic PDF annotation, you may not need to buy a PDF reader if you already have notability, especially since you can split view in the app. The number one notability converts documents to PDF when you import them. in the app, your Word documents, your PowerPoint presentations are all converted to PDF when you enter them into the app, this prepares them for annotation and this conversion is done offline, it does not require an internet connection. Notability can recognize hyperlinks in PDF files.
These are useful especially for planners, however, the app has no way to help you recognize whether a pdf has a hyperlink or not. It would be helpful if the app could do this and you can't turn off hyperlinks in the app when you write with your Apple Pencil, so you'll accidentally turn on your hyperlinks when you're typing in the app. Note that Notability doesn't create hyperlinks, it just recognizes them, which is why I like to use these simply digitally designed hyperlinked notebooks to keep my notes organized in the app that you can't create yourself. hyperlinks but you can buy notebooks with hyperlinks now you can give presentations directly from your app presentation mode is automatically activated via airplay when you connect an hdmi cable to your ipad in presentation mode your audience doesn't see your user interface which Helps them focus on the information you are presenting Horizontal scrolling in presentation mode allows you to display entire pages Your laser tool has four color options and you can draw trails with it Split view in the app Unnotability gives you the ability If you have side notes during your presentation that your audience can't see, once you've created your notes in the app, you'll want to export them or share them with others.
It's always a good idea to know that you have the ability to export your notes from your note-taking app if you wish. you can export your notes to email dropbox google drive onedrive box itunes print or web dev and you can export to other apps on your ipad you can send your notes as pdf as note as image or rtf and the app will explain each file type for you when you are exporting , the best way to export unnoticed notes is as a pdf, you can then choose the range of pages you want to export, you can choose to export your page background if you decide to turn this off.
Then your notes will be exported on plain paper. You can also export your recordings, and finally, you can add margins to your pages. You can preview the PDF you're exporting here at the bottom of this popup just to give you a rough idea of what your notes will look like when you export them when you're done, tap share note, you can export them to whatever app you want if Export audio recordings with a PDF, the application will create a zip file containing the PDF and audio notes separately. the inaudibilities created are generally very small, the app does a great job of minimizing file sizes so much that the app itself, despite having hours of audio recordings and many notes, takes up very little space and that pretty much covers everything. which has to do with use. the app to create nodes now let's see how to organize your nodes on the home page of the app notability is divided into two columns the smallest column contains folders and the largest one contains notebooks notability has a two-level hierarchical organization system you can organize your nodes in dividers and subjects, dividers contain folders, in my case their subjects and subjects contain notebooks and in my case these are notebooks with individual topics.
Editing in the top left corner allows you to edit your files in the app. You can select nodes to edit and this gives you the ability to delete or duplicate them, you can also rename your notebooks by simply tapping on their title still in edit mode, tapping on the settings icon on your dividers or themes will give you some options editing, you can do the following for your themes folder you can rename it, you can change the color of its folder and you can lock it password protected or delete it. Warning: There is no way to recover your password if you forget it, so make sure you remember it, otherwise you will not be able to open it or delete your registered matters by deleting the matter, the application will ask you to confirm that you want to delete it, which is good in in case you have made a mistake.
Lastly, in Edit, you can move folders and rearrange your notes as needed next to the export icon. It's the plus icon to create new topics and dividers on the right side The first icon is the search icon Universal search will search all your notes and documents in the app Your search results are organized into title matches and content matches , which is pretty useful if you know you're looking for a title, you can just search your search results for title matches and if you know you're looking for content, look for content matches next to the search, which is the search tool. import to add documents to Notably, you can add them from Dropbox, Google Drive, Box Web Dev files and you can scan them into the app.
The bottom of the home page also has some icons. The first icon is the settings icon responsible for the following customization. Automatic backup. Manage accounts. iCloud Themes. document writing handwriting password ios sleep timer text to speech and web clip automatic backup allows you to select a cloud service to backup your notes you can also choose any of these for your backup and you also have the option to disable your backup backup is different from sync because the changes you make to your documents are not updated in your backup, this is how it differs from sync. Make sure any changes you make to your notes are updated across all your documents on different devices once you've chosen your cloud service.
You can select a destination for your backup, which is the folder you want your notes to go to. You can choose which themes you want to back up and what format you want to back up in. You can backup your notes as a note, which I recommend as the note format. the best way to backup your notes in notability, but you can also choose to backup pdf pdf and burn rtf or rtf and burn is not very ideal, but those are other options, if that's what you need, then of course backing up your notes with recordings as pdf or rtf will mean you will lose synchronization of your notes and your audio management accounts will allow you to log in to your cloud service.
You can sign in to multiple cloud services at once, as you can see I'm currently signed in to Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive iCloud. allows you to turn iCloud syncing on or off, this syncs your nodes across all your devices which is your iPad, iPhone and Mac, any changes you make on one device are automatically updated across all your devices and in particular it syncs them on milliseconds. Themes are responsible for how your application works. It looks like you get three for free and another seven for a small in-app purchase. Each one costs one dollar and the bubble pack costs around two dollars and three dollars.
You can also turn on the option to have your app's theme match the look and feel of iOS that way when you go in and out of dark mode your app's interface also changes automatically and you don't have any additional settings to worry about when you switch to dark mode. in the app document you set a default template for your notes you can choose whatever default name you want I left mine unchanged because the note is pretty decent for a nameless note, it makes sense to me and you can choose to add the time and date of creation for each note, this will ensure that each note you create in the app is unique and also makes it easier. so you can find your note, if it doesn't have a name, all you have to do is remember the date you created it, you can choose a default note paper, its color, the type of template you want, simple line grid or points and line spacing, as well as default writing sets. options for your text if you don't want to customize your text every time you have to type something this is where you make those changes and this settings will allow you to choose the default settings for your font, your style, font size and you can turn on check spelling and Allow tapping anywhere to start typing on that line when you tap anywhere, tapping in the middle of the line will make the cursor appear at the beginning of the line, not where you tapped to write by hand, you can choose your typing language For better handwriting recognition I recommend turning on straight lines when you draw a straight line, hold down your finger or stylus and the line will straighten automatically.
Shape detection works the same way as straight lines. Press and hold to enter zoom mode while handwriting. Activate this option. disabled and you will need the zoom mode icon to enter zoom mode. Mine is disabled because this tool tends to activate when I don't need it. The zoom icon isn't hard to find in the app, so there's really no harm in disabling this left-handed mode moves the toolbar to the bottom of the app for left-handed people. Palm rejection allows you to rest your palm anywhere while typing. You can never have too much palm rejection in a handwriting note-taking app.
It's probably more useful to third parties. -party stylus the apple pencil works fine even if you don't activate this password it allows you to set a password to protect your folders you only need a password for all your folders and this is where you also activate touch or face ID Once you have set your password, You can also reset it here and the app keeps a record of when your password was created and this will help you remember the password you used. iOS sleep timer when off makes it noticeable to ignore iOS swipe mode. I recommend activating this. off because it drains the battery text to speech customizes the speed at which your ipad reads text to you and the speed varies from slowest to fastest next to the settings button there is a small question mark icon that takes you to the guidelines notability username the info button tells you about notability we are on version 9.3 9.3.4 notability will permanently delete your notes after 30 days unless you recover them within those 30 days, you can get them back just by tapping on them and getting them back and that's all you need to know notability, i forgot something, i left something out because this was quite a long video, let me know in the comments section below, please like this video, if you liked it , let me know what you think about the notability in 2020, the improvements. things I have added thank you all very much for watching, see you in the next video
