Colourful, quiet little owl☺️
Jun 04, 2021Hi guys, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm just making one owl because there were a lot of people requesting a tutorial on a specific owl I made a while ago. So if you are still not bored of owls. from my channel uh this is going to be very colorful we're going to do some dots um and yeah it's going to be super super cute. I have a fairly round stone and this is a natural lake top stone so if you can find a similar stone or even draw a circle on a stone you can work within that circle or you can use that too if you are familiar with Happy Dotting Company , they offer molds where you can make your own stones with powdered plaster or craft cement and things like that you can do. your own perfectly round stones to work with and your four inch or number four mold, sorry, your number four mold would be great for this because it's nice and big and round, so what I've done is sketch in pencil what I'm going to do. to make something for my idea and then I'm going to fill it all with color and cover some of this, but this is just to show you what it's going to look like and what it looks like. really weird at the moment, but I promise it will look really beautiful, colorful, bright and shiny when I'm done, so I used a bottle of paint to make the circles for my eyes and then filled it with white, it's pretty light. stone to start, but my eyes are going to be very bright orange, yellow and red, so I want to make sure I have a nice bright base coat to start with so those colors really stand out and you can see what I just covered.
All my beautiful feathers I drew in pencil, but that was just to show you that this is what it's going to be like and you'll see when I get to that area, but I'm going to do this in certain steps. because I have to let certain things dry and then I can go back to them and work on them, so now it's going to be a nice teal color, so I'm just going to put a nice thick layer on there. using some sponges to blend a lighter color and soften any paint lines you may have. I like the paint lines.
Do not misunderstand. You've probably heard me say it before. I can't stand them, but I do it. It just depends on how I'm painting, if it's flowers or something, brush strokes can help with the texture and look of flowers, etc., or animal skin things like that, but on certain things I don't like those brush strokes. there, so I sponge them all off, so I hope you understand that I'm not being um, I'm not favoring anything, I like them both, so I'm going to put a
little
bit of jungle green on top of this teal. I'm using a Martha Stewart sponge and I'm just rinsing.I'm not going to go to the edge. I'll keep the border dark and we won't even see around the eye area very soon. So I'm not really worried about that part, but I'm making the owl ear parts and I'm applying all of that with a sponge and blending it so that it goes smoothly from the lightest color to the darkest color and I'm leaving the natural stone for the small area on the right side of the stone at the bottom. I'm leaving it natural. You can use the look of your natural stone for parts of your owl, so it's really cool.
You can just Like I work it there and I like that it will change a
little
bit once I resin it so you can see the colors in the stone a little better, but you'll understand I like to keep them. That area is free, I don't want to cover it all, um, but you'll understand soon, so I'm going to make his snows, his schnoz, uh, his beak, my son has actually called it beak like the dog's snout before and Me makes you laugh a lot, um, but he calls everyone snout, even even on people who have a snout, it's right under his nose, that's his snout, uh, he, he's learning, we're correcting him as we go, um gently, so I.I'm doing a little orange now that the white is dry on the eyes, I'm mixing a little yellow, then orange and then I'm going to put red on top so that it gradually goes from saffron yellow to pure pumpkin orange and you have to use sponges different for each color so make sure you don't use the same sponge for the yellow that you use for the red because then it won't look good, use a separate sponge for the red I'm sure you can get away with it. do the yellow and orange with a sponge, as long as you start with the yellow first on both eyes and then blend the orange quickly while the yellow is still wet, but it is recommended to use a different sponge for each color, just a little tip from my part.
I'm trying to make a video to show you my new house or parts of it, at least the parts I have ready enough to share with people because of the word of the sea, that really horrible pandemic situation we're having. No one was in my house, no one had seen it, and my husband and I have been slowly working in different areas, making things and buying furniture and things like that, but we're still working on it mostly just upstairs, so Until now it's done and we're working in the rec room downstairs and that's where my office is where I have my cricut and I have all my extra stones and that's where I dry my stones when they've been resined. and yeah, all my packing supplies for shipping and shipping all my stuff and printer paper and all that fun stuff, but yeah, I'll be sharing some videos of my house with you guys pretty soon, just little snippets and uh.
Because you guys have been there with me for a while and deserve to know what's going on in my life, I'd love to share it with you, so stay tuned because it's coming very, very soon and I'll have some. Christmas tutorials will be out in the next few days. I've been really busy, but I'm trying to post some Christmas ones for you guys next week. Okay, so as you can see, I outlined the eyeball in black. and now I'm whispering with my fine liner brush just a little bit of white and I'm trying not to go right into the eye with the white, but if you don't worry, we'll go back and line that with black again anyway, it's not like that.
It's going to be a big worry, just try not to put too much white on that beautiful sunset eye that we've done, that's what I like to call it when I'm done with it, it looks like it has little sunset colored aviators on it. which you know, maybe that will help someone paint theirs a little different, who knows, maybe I'm inspiring you, I hope I am in some way, so I'm just making little movements with my brush and a little bit of white paint around of the eyeballs. wing here if you've seen my
quiet
little owl tutorial if you haven't I'll link it in the description wink wink and usually hide the little front part of the beak because it'squiet
so this is an owl calm and colorful yes You have seen my tutorial on the silent owl.You know what it looks like and this one is similar. It's just very brightly colored and there will be some spots and some differences, but I love owls. I have a very large owl tattoo on my left arm. and I love owls so I like to paint them from time to time and if I'm going to paint one I might as well share it with you so I've re-outlined the sunset eyeball and now I'm using a dot. tool and I'm putting like little black beads around the eye and that's actually going to have a little bit of gold in it afterwards and then I'm going to add some flat back crystals to those things too so it's going to be colorful and it's going to sparkle so I'm very happy with that, so you'll notice that some of my dots are not quite, you know, they're not completely perfect, some of them aren't spaced correctly, whatever, um, I don't.
Worry about that kind of stuff and I don't want you to either, don't stress, this is supposed to be fun, right? Art is supposed to be fun and therapeutic, and something you want to get back to, something you find difficult. time, you know, shoot, I did, I forgot to make dinner for you today, geez, I don't want no all the time, I don't want it to be like this all the time, but I do want you to enjoy it and just help yourself. and have fun, don't stress, don't worry, everything you create will be magical and you just have to enjoy it.
Many people get stressed. Now I put some glitter powder on the eyeballs, uh, you don't have any. It's like some kind of eyeshadow, it's actually for nails, it's like a chrome powder and it has like, I guess, a golden green tint to it and it just gives the eyes a little bit of shimmer, not too much, there's no big chunks. of brightness. like a very thin fine glitter, and it will stand out a little more once it's been sealed with resin, so keep that in mind too, I'm outlining everything in gold now, don't go near those eyeballs.
Now keep those keep them as they are, let the black dry. I like to call those little beads, those little dots around the eyes. So I'm going to use some mod podge and I have to put it in. eye area to keep the glitter in place so it doesn't go anywhere it doesn't like to travel through the rock to other places I want to keep the glitter in place and I just use this as glue I'm going to leave it dry and work on the eyes a little more afterwards because we're going to turn these little aviator lenses into eyes, so that's where the sponges come in.
Sponges are amazing. I'm going to use a Martha Stewart sponge again to do like the little owl student um and I'm going to let you guys know, even though I haven't been diagnosed with OCD as far as I know, I don't have it um and anyone who does probably won't care. You'll like it when you put the Captan lights in his eyes because they're not perfect and one is a little off, but I don't care, it doesn't bother me, so if it bothers you, please skip that part. I'm just letting you know so it doesn't It doesn't activate, um, so I'm going to add some little gold beads to the black.
I'm still going to see the black, although I'm just putting the gold in, so keep that little black area visible, just make your gold dots smaller than the black dot. That's all. I'm going to let that dry as well and we'll come back to that later after resining, after I've cured it for a few hours, I put my crystals on about eight hours after resining because it has the perfect adhesion. and they won't like to travel anywhere so yes it's safer to do it that way or you can resin over your crystals and just use mod podge to stick your crystals on the gold dots and then resin on top and it will stay.
Those crystals will be in place forever, however, you will lose the facets of your crystals if you apply resin on top, but if you plan to place a stone outside, make sure to apply resin on top so that birds, squirrels, and large insects can't tear it off. those shiny bits. and choke on them, you don't want that to happen, but yes, if you keep it inside, it's okay to put the crystals on top of the sealant, as long as you put them on while it's still very sticky so you can see the like little fish scales that I made on the right side, I'm just doing gold and black, uh, on the right side over that natural stone color and you'll see it a little bit better real soon and I've separated it all out.
My feathers in gold and now I'm just lining everything in black and cleaning up my gold making sure it's not too thick anywhere. These will all be feathers and will be sprinkled like a rainbow of chakra colors. or rainbow colors whatever you want to call it you decide if you want to make teal feathers you can do like a white to dark gradient in teal look here are these catchy lights here oh oh they're off oh yeah it bothers me Seeing it again bothers me, so I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it looks funny, but yeah, I just spiced it up a little bit.
The capture lights don't have to be off like mine, how about that? I can do it differently, um, but there's no change to this, now I'm erasing all my little pencil marks where I put those little feathers, um, because this will be natural and I'm just underlining where I did the gold. uh little feathers I call them fish scales mermaid scales but they are feathers um on this side he's not covering with a wing so this is what the rest of his body looks like just use your imagination guys um it's been a long time This week I had two kids home for two days due to cough, nothing more, just cough, but I'm being safe and making sure no other symptoms appear.
I don't want to take the risk of sending my children to school. because it's a scary time so yeah I haven't been able to do much with them being at home and being very blessed my kids are very healthy strong and happy but the healthy and strong part makes them hyperactive and argumentative when I'm home , so yeah, I haven't had much time, so there will be more tutorials coming very soon. um and I wish I could have posted this for my American friends who celebrated Thanksgiving. I wish I could have done it. I'll leave this to you a little early, but I hope you can spend some time on Sunday and sit and paint with me, um, but yeah, so my wing I'll start from the bottom, it's like I said, it'll be like the colors of the chakras or a rainbow , I'm going to start with all the red dots at the bottom, I'm going to go to orange, then to yellow, then to green, then to a teal color, then to blue, then to purple, and it will look fantastic when it's done , As I told you.
You can choose the colors you want, if you like.If you prefer, you can choose shades of purple or you can make each one. Feather a different color instead of just making a gradient on the feathers and they are all there, each feather is a rainbow, you can make like the first red feather and then the second orange feather, next yellow feather, you know what I mean, you know what? I mean, I'm not going to bore you with the rest, um, but yeah, basically, I'm just dotting everything and no, I'm not actually moving my hands that fast.
I've sped up this video so this doesn't end. it's a day long tutorial um so I just want to thank all my subscribers um I'm sorry I haven't posted enough for you this past month um but I'm going to be working on some really really good ones as well just to tell you how much I love you if anyone has sent me any kind of donation through paypal my family and I want to thank you um I don't know what I would do without you guys you know what I mean it's been a tough year and honestly, I say it from the bottom of my heart when I say we thank you, my children, thank you, my son just turned 16 on the 26th and it was thanks to you that I was able to sneak away from my son. of cash for your birthday, so thank you to anyone who supports my channel, anyone who hits the like button, anyone who shares it with your family and friends or on your Facebook or whatever, if you just mention my name, thank you.

Not many people understand it. to do this, so thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for just being here right now, so there, all my sensitivity came back to the work of art. Purple, that's the color there. I finished it off with purple because my rock is so similar. circular, you can't really see the rainbow underneath, but I promise I'll show it to you a little later. It's just because of the way my rock is placed that you can't see all that color, but I had to fill it in. with purple because that's my color, um, you could top it off with pink if you want.
I was going to add a little magenta on top, but I held back. I just left it with purple there so you can see that his eyes are nice and dry. the gold around the eyes is nice and dry, everything needs to be very dry before you try to seal it or ugly things will happen if you try to do it, any type of sealing with a wet stone and luckily I use acrylic paint and it doesn't take long to dry, but I don't recommend using any type of oil based paint or oil paint on stones, it won't stay on, you won't be able to seal it properly and it won't work.
Now we're ready to make the resin look really pretty, so I'm trying not to show it to you too much, but I'm adding the crystals after my resin has been in it for about eight hours, so I'm just adding a little bit of backing flat. crystals that I bought from pinkchair.ca uh if you visit pinkchair.ca and you want crystals or any type of nail glitter don't forget to use my discount code rachel mitchell check this out check it out oh you can even see it. part of my living room um, yes, that's beautiful, very bright, wait, wait a minute, it will look better in front of my tree, now I'm bragging, but yes, you can see, very colorful, very, very bright, very bright, can't you see. the shine on those crystals is pretty good in my opinion uh no picture or video does it justice it looks beautiful the uh the dot the dotted wings look gorgeous all shiny and smooth this will look beautiful on someone's shelf or desk love you guys no Never forget, keep painting, keep going, I love you, see you soon, goodbye.
