. Now before I review this vehicle, I would like to talk. the history of the

for his personal use and since then an incredible number of celebrities and important historical figures have driven or been driven in continentals frank sinatra frank lloyd wright liz taylor president eisenhower fdr and jfk all They drove or were driven in Continentals, and more recently with the TV series Entourage, the Continental had a resurgence in popularity, so what we have here is a Lincoln Continental Touring Door Edition that begins life as a Black Edition Continental.

is cut into the wheel arch, what Cabot did here was totally alter the sheet metal, obviously moving the door to a straight line here without altering the lines of the car.

This car is absolutely perfect. The fit and finish. The level of craftsmanship. Cabot really went above and beyond for this particular car, as befits a continental. So let's look at the doors. The vehicle itself measures six inches. Since six inches were added to the rear passenger side, like I said, it doesn't alter the lines of the car. This doesn't look like a car that was converted into something it wasn't supposed to be, maybe you would. I mean all Cabot did was accentuate or embellish the already excellent lines of the car. Illuminated center door handle. Electronic opening or soft closing as they call it, so when you want to close the car you have to slam it, very good, especially when If I have children who love doors that slam, when you open this, they will see an opening perfect 90 degree for the door, makes entry and exit much easier, so I'm going to get in, I'm not a big person, I'm only five foot eight or so, there's obviously a lot more room back here, as befits the coach's experience, but you know, good legroom, good headroom, good shoulder room, six extra inches. added to the back of this car makes a big difference and transforms it from a vehicle you want to drive to a vehicle you want to be driven in too, so let's close the door, which by the way isn't hard to grab.

Now why would you do this to irritate your spouse and upset your father or you get in the vehicle and you want to have extra leg room and this really accentuates the experience if this is actually a vehicle that you are going to drive in?

I don't know many people, my cousin Michael is six foot four, there is enough legroom in this vehicle for him, I mean it's still running so you can pass it as far as you need tons of legroom, you can lie back , you can be. very comfortable in the vehicle, it also has massaging rear seats, which are nice, you can adjust and make some adjustments, it is a very comfortable place to be and with all the sound insulation and with all the technology used by Lincoln to create a very comfortable atmosphere. peaceful. a very very relaxing place to be with many vehicles that you are driven in, think about the last time you were in a limousine, think about the last time you were driven to and from the airport, all the technology was applied by the manufacturer to make the front of the car quiet, that's where you have the laminated glass, that's where you have the additional soundproofing material.

Lincoln has applied all that technology to the rear of this vehicle and Cabot has made it even better, meaning this car is comfortable everywhere. The front seats are a great place to be, obviously, with 400 horsepower, the car is fun to drive even with the extra six inches of space and outer wheelbase. It actually rides better than a standard Continental because of the extra wheelbase that helps it absorb some. There are more bumps in the road and in New England you'll notice the difference, but overall it's a very luxurious place to sit. Many times you have inflatable rear seat belts when you get into a tourist car or limousine of some type.

Most of the safety was put into the front of the vehicle, but with the inflatable seat belts, the side airbags, all the technology put into safety, it's a very safe place to be in the back of the vehicle, so one more thing opens up this neat little insulated compartment and you have what Lincoln says is a nice place to put a bottle of champagne. We suggest that, after speaking with legal counsel, you check your local and state laws about driving with champagne in your car, but for those of us from New England, it's a good place.

The large Dunkin Donuts iced coffee fits really well, seals it in and it's also cool that the wood appliqué is built into this and the grain runs in the same direction. Little things for nerds to notice, so now let's get out of the car very easily. You press the button and it opens, so you can't talk about a car with coach doors without doing what I like to call the money shot, which is opening them all so you can have the full visibility that this type of door offers. it's only available on one other type of vehicle, which is a Rolls-Royce, which is considerably more expensive than the one we have here.

For 2019, only 80 of these units were made and by 2020 the popularity was so great and the car sold out so quickly that we are going to build a few more, between 100 and 200 more, and about 120 will come to the United States. Unfortunately, Lincoln will no longer be building the Continental after this model year, so this is literally your last chance to get a Continental Coach Edition. one of the few available in New England and while there are many different color combinations, there is something about the metallic black on the light interior with the dark wood that looks absolutely exquisite.
