Hey guys, I'm Laurie, thanks for stopping by, let's go do something. I'm starting my DIY Christmas

truck

using two of the wooden

dollar

truck

s. I want to make the truck in 3D so I need to remove two of the fenders, one of the doors and both pines using my kitchen knife, I carefully and very slowly removed these pieces of wood. Everything came off pretty easily except the

tree

and left some imperfections in the wood. This is basically the back of my truck so I just used a piece of sandpaper and sanded it down as best I could, it's not perfect but you know, an old red truck will probably have a couple dents with all my parts removed.

Now I'm going to add the door to the opposite side of the truck where I got it from. I'm saving my trees for another project later using this pretty red acrylic paint. I'm giving all four pieces a good coating. I'm painting both sides of both trucks and that's just it. in case you can see anything once they are assembled, I am painting my fenders and will add them to the truck after painting my wheels with my full red trucks. I'm using some black acrylic paint to add on the rims if you can't find these trucks but you have the red

tree signs, I made an Easter egg truck with them and I'll link that video below all you'll have to do is follow the same instructions. and you can make your Christmas tree truck and now that my tires are dry I'm going to use my glue gun and put on the fenders.

I am using one of the wooden dollar tree boxes for the bed of my truck and I am going to paint it with some golden brown acrylic paint once my box is dry. I'm going to hot glue it to the side of one of the trucks. I put a generous amount of hot glue on the bottom and side. I then placed one of the trucks in the box with one side attached. I'm following the same instructions and attaching the other side to make the roof and hood of my truck. I'm using one inch craft sticks from the dollar tree.

I'm starting from the top, I put my craft stick in place, marked the ends with a pencil and then cut it with my scissors, I checked the fit and using that craft stick, I measured and cut two more for the roof once they are . cut, I am numbering each of them in order and this will make it easier when I attach them later for the hood. I'm doing exactly the same thing. I'm measuring the stick, cutting it to size and then I'm numbering each one after cutting them. I continue measuring and cutting along the front and am cutting out two craft sticks where the headlights will be.

Once I'm done, I'll glue them in place according to how I numbered them. I'm running a light line of glue on each side and then securing my stick in place once my roof is complete. I am now attaching them to the hood after gluing my fifth piece to the hood. There is an awkward area where the headlights are so I'm using my sandpaper to file the edge of my craft stick and this will allow it to fill the open space and finish. Now I'm attaching my last pieces now that we're done and the craft sticks are glued in place, there's a little bit of an overhang on the front so I'm using some sandpaper from my dollar tree and I'm just going to sand it down until it is flat.
Once again I'm using my red acrylic. I paint and am painting the sticks so that the truck looks complete to give life to the wheels. I'm using some metal washers I found at my husband's shop. I'm also using four buttons that I had on hand. I'm taking a red pencil and I'm accentuating the outside. I'm using my e6000 and my glue gun to attach the metal washers to the tires. I'm not sure if hot glue would be enough, so I decided to use both after my washing machine. Then I used my hot glue gun and attached the plastic buttons.
If you don't have these items on hand you can always paint the center or add a bottle cap or even a paper cutout or you can just keep it simple with my Complete Tires. I'm adding a wood cutout to the back. I found this at Joann's house and I think she cost me 79 cents. I'm going to paint it with the same golden brown paint, but before I do that there are two small holes on each side. so I cut a stick in half and glued it to the side of the sign with everything in place, gave it a quick coat of paint and when it was dry I used my hot glue gun and attached it to the back of the sign box. truck to cover the holes on this side.
I'm using two of the bright green trees from this Dollar Tree Sticker Pack. These stickers are made of wood, so I'm adding a little hot glue and covering up a little of the holes that were there. They stick out from both stickers, so I touched them up with my paintbrush to make my truck license plates. I'm using two of the blocks and painting them with my golden brown paint once they were completely dry. When using these dollar tree stickers to personalize my plates, there is limited space and I was trying to think of something clever that had to do with trees and I was thinking oak or leather and then I looked out the window and I literally live in a pine tree. forest and I thought pine, that's the perfect word to put on my license plate using my glue gun.
I then placed one in the front of the truck and one in the back. I'm making a wreath for the front of the truck and the two doors. and I'm using some of this dollar tree wire garland. I decided where I wanted it on my door and made a circle with the garland once I cut it, then wrapped the ends with wire around each other, measured the front of my Truck both doors and you can see I have three little messy wreaths. I'm using my scissors and cutting all three of their hair. I'm using some different colored mardi gras beads to add some embellishments to my wreaths for both of my door wreaths.
I'm using my glue gun and attaching my green beads. I also made a similar wreath for one of my dollar tree houses and I'll link that video below in case you want to watch it to add a simple bow to all of my wreaths. I'm using some of this red and white dollar tree plaid ribbon. I'm cutting little strips of the ribbon and then just making a simple bow. I added some hot glue and glued it to my wreath to make the wreath. For the front of my truck, I cut out a few different colors of Mardi Gras beads, placed small hot glue dots on my wreath and then placed the ornaments in place and when this wreath was complete, I added the same simple bow with my three crowns finally finished.
I'm adding a red mardi gras bead to the middle of each bow before attaching the wreaths. I'm using two buttons I had in my stash as headlights. I cut the back so they would lay flat and attached them. the front with my glue gun, I'm adding each wreath by placing a circle of glue on the back and securing it in place. The next step is something I like to do, but it is completely optional to define the lines on my truck that I am using. my pencil and I'm just running it along all the edges and the fenders when I'm done I rub my finger along my pencil lines and I think it gives the truck a little more rustic look.
I moved around the truck making sure I had all the edges and fenders to finish my Christmas tree farm truck. I'm adding some of the dollar trees to the back and of course who else but Santa would drive this truck? He is from the dollar tree and I felt a little bad because I had to cut his hat off, but once I did it, he fit perfectly inside. Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with me.
