s exist. But now it's time to bring out the big fish. The reason why all walks of tuning life love this American

engine

is it is possibly the best engine swap engine of all time. Used LS are very plentiful and can be had at very cheap prices, as can their new parts. The LS is the gift that keeps on giving. People even put their parts, like throttle bodies and coil packs, into other cars. Here are the benefits. Because LS engines are pushrod engines, they have smaller cylinder heads than overhead cam engines.

Which means you have plenty of scrolling that doesn't take up much space. Weight is also very important here. LSs can often weigh about the same or even less than some of the iconic engines they replaced. An LS3 crate engine weighs about 420 pounds, buddy. A 13B rotary weighs over 400 pounds. The super's original 2JZ GTE weighs 650 pounds. With all their low-end torque, LSs can pull a car out of corners sooner or fire up the rear tires more easily, and they don't always

need

a lot of revs to do so. That's good for longevity. Keep it low, keep it going.

Here's the thing. The LS didn't just come as an all-aluminum, high compression performance V8. (engine sound) Many LSs use a confusing system of engine codes that are all iron blocks and come on virtually every GM truck or SUV, making them very plentiful, very easy to find, and most importantly, very cheap. The fact that you can take an LS iron block out of a junkyard from a simple Chevy Suburban and throw it into something completely different like a 240 or something is what makes it so amazing. I'm talking about RX7, RX8, Supra, E30, E36, E46, old Volvos and very old trucks. (engine revving) The LS may not be the most exciting change, but it is exciting and makes a lot of sense.

For those of you with deeper pockets, why not trade in a new LS3, LSX or LT1? You don't have to look for crashed Corvettes in the junkyard, you can literally buy them from GM at Walmart.com. The GM part number for the LS3 is 19257230. You can have a fully assembled, ready-to-swap engine delivered right to your door in the same cart as your toilet paper, literally. There's even a damn festival dedicated to it, two of them. It's called LS Fest. (engine revving and tires screeching) It's like the man on fire in cars but with more nudity. I'm looking at you, Odi Bakchis.

This engine has united all corners of the automotive world. It has brought together muscle car stars, drift fans, track punks, crankensteins, drag boys, time and tag freaks, alcohol fanatics, burnout (engine revving) wizards and more. Everyone can be nerds together. So, go out, get one, and throw it at something it doesn't belong. More power, baby, stickers.
