no now I wouldn't start the rumors but rumor has it that the abalone season will shut down until 2030 it's now September which is the last month to get abalone in the calendar year and it might be my last chance to get out there until 2030 Now the reason why, in case you're interested, is because there's a huge growth in the sea
urchinpopulation, and sea
urchins eat seaweed. Bologna's diet is seaweed. There are so many sea urchins that they multiply so fast that eating all the algae there is no food left for Babylon and there is a decrease in the number of starfish, which are the main predators of sea urchins, so with the decrease in predators, sea urchin numbers are simply increasing and throwing abalone numbers to decline. which I really don't understand why they would shut down the season entirely.
Not that that's going to solve the problem because the sea urchins are just going to multiply and multiply. I think there has to be some other measure. e to get rid of the sea urchins or at least regulate their population because if it's closed, I mean it's not the people that are collecting the abalone that is causing the problem, it's the number of sea urchins that are getting the food, so i dont know there are tons of ideas on what to do and how to handle this situation but it looks like the Department of Fish and Game will handle it by shutting down the seasons for 1213 years anyway idk this is my last chance to get out.

catchof the day me and dale limit abalone there is no limit or size limit to sea urchins look at these things they don't even fit in the palm of my mano the goal was to come here and get these urchins aka uni and they show you how you can eat them so if you go to a market they have this little tool you just stick it in here and squeeze it and they split the shell in half and there are five edible strips. part of this sea urchin if you don't have that tool I show you another way so this is its mouth right here so I'm going to cut around the mouth it's full of seawater you have to be careful when you're holding this because these spikes are sharp so just cut around the mouth here all that water will come out and that little bit that little circle I just cut this is what it is this is this are their teeth those are sea urchin teeth if you wanted you could clean this , keep it and put it away, put it on your cloak or something anyway, this is what we got here now, like I said, if it's in the market, some lady or something would just stick something in there, squeeze it, pop this. peel in half but since we don't have that luxury I'm just going to stick my finger in here and with my fingernail I can feel around and I can feel where the gonads are that's what we're going to eat and just with my fingernail I'll scrape it so that there are five sections of gonads and also five sections of viscera or something like that. i don't know exactly what it is so you don't eat them you just eat the gonads and once you scratch them with your finger you can just shake them off and sometimes you'll get a sea urchin that doesn't have any.
Or they won't look as good. I don't know about this one. This one doesn't seem to be looking so good so far. Oh, for one, this one is empty. I have had much better luck with these reds. they come in two different colors not exactly sure why anyway try this one again let's see what comes out of this one well there's what you're supposed to eat sometimes they're bright orange and this it is not now. I'm not even going to rinse it or anything I'm just going to try this one I don't know I've got a feeling this one's no good I might have to open another one Tastes bitter which wasn't good either man let's try number three okay this feels better oh here we go oh my gosh it looks so gross that's the good stuff. whatever, I don't even know what you call this, but he's busted and he's wearing this, those are his gonads. that's so much better than the last one that's for sure it's pretty good yeah i'll give it a try oh man it looks pretty gross well i won't feed it to you i know it smells so bad.
I brought some. soy sauce - so i tried to try without without source oliver's and then it was ok tried it cheers man thanks interesting Wow not that bad true it's very creamy very creamy tastes very much like the ocean although you need to rinse it with a little water cool yes ocean this is all i know alternative water not bad though not bad originally when it first hit my mouth it tasted bitter oh yeah a little bit and then and then it was gone , although now the ocean water should already be rinsed so that it tastes. different well it tastes very different no ocean almost like it doesn't even have a taste in a way it was really yum yes it says very very yum very ripe creamy yes i would recommend it look how once you pop one of those things this the white start it starts to ooze out a taste test plus some soy sauce just a little touch Wow like it's weird every time I've had it I feel like it gets better and better yeah I mean for some reason it's like definitely an acquired taste I'd say, but did you get it?
Yeah, in three tries, maybe it looks so gross, dude, when it comes out, yeah, it's like shit or something. know another one for sure it doesn't look very good it doesn't look very appealing but i don't know if people love this stuff yeah you might notice the different color the one you just opened that was very bitter and that's bad , a completely different color than this, it's bright orange, yes. They sell them at very expensive sushi restaurants, I don't know how much per pound, but I don't smell very good, though as if you smelled, you'd be like, oh, I don't want to eat that, wait, I hardly smell at all.
I guess a little bit of pesto is like a pretty good shoe though honestly like a little bit of soy sauce I'd give it a 9 out of 10 now it's so good huh lets say 9 out of 10 are you sure it's an acquired taste? I don't know I'm trying to get it right now, yeah, but every once in a while for dinner or lunch with some rice. that's why he likes it so much if it's ok ok Dan's I'm going to
cookan abalone now so if you want you can check his channel philosophy in depth have another have another perspective on this day abalone season is going to october so you have another month if you want to go out and get it a sea urchin now that you know how to open them take them out just use your fingernails scraping off some soy sauce wash off the salt water you will have something good for you
