Captain Tom Foundation: Name misused for Swimming Pool & Spa?
Jul 05, 2023Remember Captain Tom Moore, this guy who walked around his garden to raise almost £39m for the NHS during Covid? He was knighted, honored with an RAF flyover and received 225,000 birthday cards and sadly died in February 2021 after contracting Covid before him. However, he died and after fundraising efforts, the Captain Tom Foundation was registered on June 5, 2020 and you will also remember that last year the charity commission opened a legal investigation into that Foundation after it identified concerns about management, including the independence of charities from the The family and businesses are well connected to them once again, the Captain Tom Foundation has been in the news.
The Sun reports that Captain Tom's daughter, Hannah Ingram Moore, has been accused of using her
name
to build a 50-foot by 20-foot extension. Pool house with changing rooms, toilets and showers. Now you'd probably be forgiven if, at first glance, reading this headline and seeing this in the Sun, you think there's some foul play involved here, but that's not what the article says. What the article says is that they applied for this planning permission in their ownname
, but in the Heritage statement they used the name of the Captain Tom Foundation to say that space was urgently needed for performances and memorabilia. The Sun reports that this annex was given everything. A clear but retrospective permit application for the spa complex was rejected last year. The Sun reports that it contacted the charity's trustees, who in turn said that at no time was the Captain Tom Foundation trustee aware of the planning permissions granted by Mr and Mrs Ingram more intended. to be in the name of the
foundation
, they say that if they had been aware of such requests, the independent trustees would not have authorized them, so what exactly does this mean and why is it making the news? It appears to me that the name of the Captain Tom Foundation is reported to have been used in this application to authorize the building permit when in fact it was not authorized by the Trustees of the Foundation and they would not have done so in accordance with this article under the sun if they had been approached and asked for permission. The Sun further reports that a resident, presumably a neighbour, told the Sun that they felt they thought their goodwill gave them cover to do whatever they wanted and MPS has again reportedly asked the charity commission to investigate, for Of course, there is already an ongoing investigation by the charity commission that was established started last year and I will also link it in the description below and I have not heard any more information about it yet, so in case you see this news, does not at first glance suggest that money has been misappropriated. although some people may suggest that that is something the charity commission should investigate, of course when this comes to light in the news the charity commission will probably find out and we will probably take a look at it along with their ongoing efforts. research so as always if there is any further development on this I will come back and report an update when and in fact if more information becomes available and as always please leave me your thoughts and comments in the box below remember to give me like. video and subscribe, that really helps my channel grow.
