C8 Corvette Z06 details LEAKED! Z06 DELAYED until 2022?! and MORE!

May 04, 2020
Good evening everyone, welcome back to Horsepower Obsessed. My name is Justin and today we are going to talk about the Corvette zo6 c8 and some of the specs that were recently

leaked

. Alright guys, it's been a while since I posted some news about the C8 because I've been playing with some real C8 Corvettes in person, so it's been a while since I've taken a look at some of the recent news that's come out for the Corvette c8, specifically the c8 zo6, but every time I looked at it, I noticed that there was information that had supposedly

leaked

from a couple of different sources and that was put together into a small list.

Now this particular list really looks familiar to me because they made a very similar one for the base Corvette c8 about six months before it actually came out. All the information that was on that list ended up being 100% accurate, so every time I see this I immediately think the same thing: It's probably legit news and it's probably 100% what we're actually going to get when the car comes out now. For those of you who don't know, a Corvette manufacturing plant has been closed due to what is happening in the world right now and because of that, it is speculated that many of the Corvette c8 orders will be moved to 2021 in Instead of 2020 now GM has not been too forthcoming with this information, they have told us that basically as long as you have received your order before March 18th you will still receive it at 8:20 p.m., but now rumors are leaking that Chevy is falling behind. on this and they are actually replacing all of their cars, not just the Corvette c8, but anything from now on until a 2021 and that even if you placed your order before March 18th for a 2020 Corvette c8, they will still beat you. to 2021 now, that being said, there are also rumors and information that GM is bumping up all of their Corvette c8 performance models by another year, so it was initially speculated that the zo6 would come out around 2021, but now everything has been

delayed

, it seems.

model, but anyway let's talk about what's in this document, what specs this document specifically talks about and it starts with a group that says what it is, it says that it is the first one. of several upcoming ultra-high-performance variants of the Corvette C8, it's a return to the Vette stripped for action, worthy of a high-revving track, embodied by the 7.0-liter, 505-horsepower V8-powered C6 Zo6 from 2006 to 2013, so it's there for those of you who don't I don't know the c6 was exactly what this says here it was really stripped down to make that car as light as possible while a huge naturally aspirated engine was inserted into the car to really put that thing on top, the c6 zo6 was really the car.

In my opinion, that started the crazy performance of these Corvettes, all right guys, so we'll take a quick break from the action to mention today's sponsor and it will be Ridge Wallet. I've talked about them a couple of times before guys, but if you look at it, it's a really nice updated carbon fiber wallet that allows you to carry your cash on the back with the money clip or a money band that It will hold it and can also hold up to 12 of your cards like the ones we normally carry. a little pile of junk in our wallet that we don't really need and this really helps eliminate clutter now this will hold your debit cards credit cards and even your ID your driver's licenses things like that if you're interested in something like this Guys definitely Check the description below.

I'll put the 10% discount coupon there. You can save some money on these just by being a horsepower-obsessed fanatic and then move on to why it's important. They say the zo6 is a new v8. The power curve is shaped like a bodybuilder's biceps. Switching to a mid-engine configuration maximizes traction, allowing Chevy to better utilize its mega-horsepower engines to battle everything on the exotic car spectrum. Of course, as a Corvette fan, we already know why this is important, so let's move on. to the next platform, a muscular version of the basic seat architecture with wider and stronger rubber brakes, a recalibrated suspension, improved and tuned powertrain cooling, widened fenders covering the mechanical parts and new active aerodynamics to the Vette, we pinned it back to the track, this is something I've talked about many times on this channel that the idea of an active Aero will definitely make its way to the c8 at some points, whether or not it's for the c8 zo6.
I'm not sure yet, but if this document proves to be that accurate. like the base c8 was then, that's exactly what we're going to get and we're going to get it for the zo6. Next is the powertrain and this is where things get really interesting. It says it's a naturally aspirated overhead cam, 32 valve, 5.5 liter. v8 with a flat crank is what we'll get now we've talked about this before on the channel again and a lot of people don't like what this flat crank means for the zo6 in a naturally aspirated form it's likely to have less horsepower than the c7 zo6 a lot of people want to go crazy about this saying no, there are no waves um it would give us a new Corvette with less horsepower than the previous one well, I think that's what we're going to get here.
There have been a lot of rumors saying we would get naturally aspirated, no twin turbos, no supercharger, the zo6 was going back to its roots with naturally aspirated and hopefully low weight, but this goes on to say even

more

: compare that flat crank engine shaped like a Ferrari It looks like it should rev between 8,500 and 9,000 rpm and it will spit out the 600 horsepower we talked about now. In this case it says more than 600, but for it to be a naturally aspirated, flat crankshaft engine there is almost no way. it will be a lot more than 600 which brings us back to our earlier discussion about the fact that yes it will be less than what the c7 zo6 was sitting on, not that it's a big deal because first of all we'll have the middle . engine configuration number two, it will be a flat crank so it will definitely handle power differently than the c7 zo6 does anyway, number three it is possible to be at least as light, if not lighter, than the c7 zo6 from what we talked about earlier with this car try to go back to the roots of the c6 zo6 number because it will still have that dual clutch transmission and it is rumored to be a newer one that is actually 8 speed dual clutch they keep saying no it is. mere speculation because a detuned version of this engine is already powering the c8r race car, that's true, but due to regulations the c8r engine doesn't produce anywhere near the six hundred horsepower this one is supposed to have, yeah They played that.
I say it's a detuned version, but I'm a little hesitant to believe they'll be able to safely squeeze this amount of power out of a flat crank motor, time will tell, although he goes on to say that competition is anything to go by. It looks and sounds like a mid-engined supercar so basically if the car is considered a supercar this c8 zo6 is coming for you next is what could go wrong says there's a chance loyalists will small blocks don't want a Corvette that sounds like a Ferrari I really don't know if that will be a problem.
I'm pretty sure every Corvette owner likes the idea of a Ferrari, but at the same time I can understand it. I guess some people like the roar of the V8. This will definitely be a little different, but I suspect once they hear it and drive it, they'll change their minds. At the bottom it goes on to say that the estimated arrival and price is as of 2021 as of 2020 for the model and it is We will start around 85,000 now for those of you who have been watching the channel for a while you will notice which is basically the price I've been saying for a while, which in my opinion is C8:06. start at eighty nine nine before any options, if GM follows the same type of pricing scheme they have established with the c7 zo6, there was about a thirty thousand dollar price difference between the base stingray and the c7 zo6, so that if they continue the same we are seeing around eighty nine nine for the new C eight zero six.
That's really all there is to this particular document. There isn't much new information here, but it is information that was supposedly obtained from some sort of internal source. so if so we are looking at the

2022

Corvette zo6 and this will be a lot of the information that will end up being 100% legit, a lot of the rumors I have seen in the past have also been around 600 horsepower. flat crank motor, so this all lines up with things I've read in the past, so this is very likely legit. The experiences I have had over the last two weeks with the base model C8 Stingray have been very positive, I think I am doing what the car is definitely moving in the right direction and I am incredibly excited to see the Zo6 because I know it will be a Absolute monster if the base model C8 is capable of going from zero to 60 in 2.8 seconds and some people have done it.
I even tested it even faster at 2.7 seconds, which is insanely huge on its own. On top of that, you add even more performance and the cooler look of the car with some added Aero parts. This car is going to be a beast but anyway guys that will do it for today's video so if you liked what you saw give me a big thumbs up if you have any questions about the c8 zo6 or even the base model c8 which I've done some research on, leave them in the comments section below or send me a message.
