Bren 2 Ms vs Virtus

Jun 08, 2021
Hey guys, welcome back, so today we're off the hook to talk about two firearms that really give each other a run for their money. First, we have the new Bren carbine - MS. This is a 556 rifle based on the pistol you have. It's been a great seller, I think for CA USA it's also available in 7 62 by 39, although I don't know if the rifle versions are available in that caliber yet, the 5 5 6 is just starting to ship and then the sig MCX

virtus

both . These rifles are priced at around $2000 and will have many of the same features as the sig has been around a bit longer, it was originally known as the MC , but yeah, these two rifles give you a run for your money and I'll try to tell you which one I like better if I could only pick one and get into this video.

Obviously, I still don't know the answer to that question. When we started, I thought it was going to be the sign that we had been shooting this rifle today and that opinion is a little mixed up, so let's see where we end up. the end of the video in case you're wondering why I'm shooting so much off the bench because I read the comments, it's because my right rotator cuff is destroyed and when I work on it, my right arm isn't quite there. Right now anyway, shooting off the bench is a little easier for me right now, taking a look at the MC parts for your firm you are a call away you can call sig USA and they will have the part you most likely need for your current firearm now if you have older versions of your guns this may not always be the case but We're not talking about the older versions, we're talking about the latest and greatest, and that's exactly what the

virtus

is, so if you need a part, you can get that replacement part if you break it, fiddling with anything else you need.

More Interesting Facts About,

bren 2 ms vs virtus...

I like the firm. It's the familiar controls, let's face it, the AR-15 is America's rifle and we've gotten used to those organs in the controls and that kind of feel in a rifle and so on, another rifle comes along that shares that common organ, the keel amah. I'm going to gravitate towards that with the NC a Magpul style pistol grip. The other thing is you've got a nice big handguard up here, it's not too small for a while. It seemed like a lot of companies were making the handguards and rail systems too small, especially for my big hands, this thing fits me very, very well, so I like the ergonomics.
bren 2 ms vs virtus
I like where the selector lever is, it's right where an ar-15 would be. It has the ambi controls, the magnetic release is right there, where again it feels familiar. my port cover to keep dirt out, which is kind of funny since the entire front of the rifles is open, we'll talk about that in a moment, standard ar-15 magazines and again we have familiar controls here, except we have the extension on the bolt release The only thing I don't like is that we have the T-handle, the one universally hated feature of the AR-15, in my opinion, and it has been carried over to the virtus, maybe some kind of side loading system It would have been better. but it would have changed the whole dynamic of the gun and of course we have the ambi magazine release if you want to take magazines out of the gun instead of just letting gravity do its job so overall this rifle suits me very well.

Right out of the box, adjustable pull link, there you go, you fold the stock that folds over to the left side of the receiver to deploy it, the spring tension keeps it closed and then you deploy it, you just pop it open and then you have a button. right here that you can press to set that link to pull towards whatever you want to be in the back. Another positive is that you have a 19-13 pick rail and there are different stock options available for your rifle that you don't have to move. this Sig virtus style pistol or a stock now on the virtus, you have QD mounts here on the end of the receiver, you have them on both sides here on the stock and then you have the mounts in front, which you're not going to do.
Find on the cz that they are integrated into the handguard, so you won't have to buy an accessory to get a forward mounting point for slingshot shooting. This gun is very good, I mean, it shoots very, very well, it has easy gas use. system up here you basically have more and it's marked on the receiver plus and less less is less gas More is more gas and this gun right out of the box is designed to be suppressed and you know it because it has the patented taper cut all the way to use a cigarette suppressor if you don't want to use a cigarette suppressor in the box comes the ring that you can put on the end of the barrel that will give it a straight edge so you can mount any type of muzzle device for another type of suppressor, if not you want to use something made by Sig, the gun does not come with iron sights.
I don't know what the trend is here, companies seem to get away with charging $2,000 for guns and not adding backing. iron sights or sights I don't like that trend but I have put Griffon armament sights on the gun they are very minimalist they are metal and I love the way they work it's just a spring detent that keeps them in place deployed state. position and in the folded position the back is adjustable for wind resistance and the front is adjustable for elevation or wind resistance nice views but they don't come with the signature. I can put them on the Bren as well, so yeah, it's a very, very easy gun to use if you're going to pick up this rifle and you're used to using AR-15s.
This will be a very easy transition to make, especially with the T-handle. There are other T-handles on the market that are the same. Larger but comes with an EMP charging handle. The recoil thrust of this thing with the gas system set to its minimum setting is actually very nice. It is a small rifle that shoots well. That is the goal of 150 meters. Let's take it to 200 meters. so it shoots every time it's a good rifle to shoot it's like a laser beam we're just shooting a 55 grain 223 federal and it works very very well now. One of the things I don't like about the gun is that even though it is configured for suppressor use, you will find that it has the same defects as the AR-15, it opens on hinges like an AR-15, you will see oil coming out around this area where it connects with the top and bottom when you put it on. can there with a traditional baffle system, not an OSS, you're going to get a lot of gas pressure going down that barrel, going to the receiver, and venting right here next to the shooter's face.
I know this from the deletion. my mcx, the original version, when you run this with a regular can, it's not something that has low back pressure like OSS, it can outgas very very quickly when firing the rifle, it's definitely a disadvantage but I like the fact that it's easily suppressible. Craving it for quite some time now, I've been wanting SBR on one of my oh, that shoulder. I've been wanting SBR on one of my guns and haven't gotten around to it, but I will soon because I really think the gun. is more in line with what I want now, note that the longest barrel CZ makes for any military police that I know of is a 14 inch barrel and it will come with a bayonet lug and then we have an 11 inch barrel inches. barrel, which one is this, then you have an 8 inch barrel version, 11 to 14 inches.
I think the 11 inch, this one here is my favorite barrel length and it looks great right off the bat, whereas as we talked about in the review video this whole thing here seems like an afterthought, it has a very profile barrel. heavy, it's got that really bad muzzle device, I mean, it's effective, it's just an ugly sin and yeah, so you have them locked all the way back here, let's talk about stock the stock is very functional, it's a folding stock in the rifle and it jams right on top. You see this little hook on the bottom of the ejection port that will hook right over the rim and hold it in place so it doesn't pop open, so just pull down and pull to deploy the stock, so just attach the pulley , just grab the back end of the stocking, you can pick a place there that works for you to click, ergonomics is what I like. about the pistol grip, in my opinion this is very narrow, especially here at the top, a very narrow pistol grip and it's a little uncomfortable for me.
I tend to shoot with a low grip, like this, where my palm is swollen from this distance. right here it's very short on the cue, it's longer, it feels more like an ar-15 with this short grip and when this trigger breaks, I find it's more comfortable for me, ergonomic, with a low grip, so The pistol grip is not replaceable, you can change the back straps, but it still doesn't change this dimension much. It's definitely not to my liking. It's okay, it feels good. It's definitely easy to shoot because it weighs like three pounds. 12 ounce trigger, but yeah, on top we have an aluminum receiver which is the same with the Sig virtus.
We have them locked here now with the Sig virtus we have an image rail on the top and then on the 3, 6 and 9 o. In the clock position, we have locking sections on the Bren - we have an extra set of locking ports or slots here on the top at a slight angle so you can see. I put a light there and it is placed at a slight angle. with the cigarette, it's a more square handguard and you can't run a 45 degree offset because the way it sticks out around where the 1913 rail section is and where the M lock is, this really gives you a way to put a displaced light. or you can even do something that's offset from the 1913 rail here because you don't have it bulged like you would on the virtus, so we have the monolithic rail, it's not monolithic because it actually breaks right here, but just like the sig virtus .
It fits very, very well, it's bolted to the receiver so it doesn't move and you can put, you know, force multipliers like night vision and stuff like that, the controls and the magazine release are like they're on an AR. -15 m16 you have the selector lever pretty close, but in the firing position the reason it's so small is because it's right there if you grip it deep. I usually grab it a little lower, but if you grab it deep, it'll be right there. The knuckle is like that of the scorpion. The other thing I really like about this gun is that I can charge it by simply pulling the charging handle back.
I can also reverse this, turn it from this side to this side very easily during a field. Taking it off, I just take this out when I put it back together, put it on this side, so loading that side versus the T handle on the sign, you'll also notice that while we're not, we haven't been. able to successfully suppress this yet and we don't know if that voids the warranty on the gun because the owner's manual says that if you put too much gas in it, it can damage it and cause premature wear of the internal parts if I put a can of OSS in here, that it's about the only way you would really want to suppress it based on what we've read in the manual is we don't think the gas cap is set for suppression it doesn't talk about that but we kind of touched on that and review the video but yeah we could suppress it it wouldn't have the same problem with gas leaking into the shooter's face from the gas coming back down the barrel because it doesn't have a break point here like the AR-15 or virtus does, in theory this would be a best suppressor host.
I can't really tell until I successfully suppress this which will later go into the charging handle. I can pull back and just push down and lock the bolt to open it with the cig, I have to do the ar-15 type, you know, put it on your knee, pull it back and hit the ping-pong paddle, lock it to open it, this can be done easily with one hand, you don't have to do it that way. Or you can use it by simply pushing up on the release bolt inside the trigger guard, pull it back and lock it open to make it an ultimate organ. amma 'can't over the virtus and that's it, you know we bothweapons we have Ambi controls for the magazine release, you have the ability to release the bolt here from the ambi position, which you don't have on the virtus, so it looks like this one may be a little more left hand friendly, the stock of this one is not there.
Our Dan Haga adapters exist for ACR actions and things like that, but it's a bit strange, it's not the way it mounts, it's not ideal. Let's put it that way, factory stock definitely works better, so up to this point there really is no reason. to replace the factory stock that comes with this gun, but there are versions of ACR adapters and such, if you want to change it, you don't have a film roll. Coming back here, I think the virtus definitely has the advantage there for different types of actions, yes you don't want to use the factory actions, so we're going to shoot a little bit with this bad boy, just like the virtus, we have two positions.
Well, not just like the Virtus, it has a three position gas selection system, but one of the positions is off, it turns off the gun and that's stupid. I don't know why you would want to use that, but you have two usable ones. The ports have a high setting and a low setting and when it ships from the factory it will have more gas going into the system and as we talked about in the review video, I run this on the second setting which is a little bit less gas. and it seems to work pretty well, let's do some shooting with this where I have a comp m5 on the sig.
I also have just a regular patrol optic here on the Brin in terms of recoil impulse this thing is actually very smooth but so is the virtus I can't say one shoots smoother than the other and they both shoot very well. I simply prefer the ergonomics of the virtus' pistol grip more than the Bren's pistol grip; in terms of shape, they balance very You think it's similar because of the heavier profile barrel used on the Bren: which would be nose heavy, it actually doesn't feel that nose heavy, it's a very shootable rifle hmm, the Bryn is a very practical rifle that sits on the shoulders, very naturally.
It approaches the target quickly and, despite the heavy-profile barrel, feels no heavier than the Virtus. Let's go ahead and load it up and shoot with it a little bit here, so shooting very flat, the muzzle break helps it. It really keeps this gun recoiling right into my shoulder and I think it's a little more controllable than the Sig, but again that's because a Sig has a flash suppressor and the flash suppressor has a break in the muzzle. The Sig is also a very light and practical rifle. it balances really well and goes up quickly to the shoulder it feels a little spindly back here and it looks a little spindly, I think if you're running, falling, rolling and all that and using the butt of the gun to break your fall, it doesn't seem like it it would hold up to that kind of use, but I don't know, I have no reason to use it that way, but it is a very snappy feeling rifle, let's go ahead and shoot some.
With it, this is not easy to control again, we have a flash suppressor versus a muzzle brake, but in general handling it still feels very, very good. I can't really say if I prefer this over the Bren or not, I think. The shoulders are a little more natural for me, maybe, but this isn't that far off. Take a look at the two gas systems on the rifle. They are both short-stroke gas piston rifles, but there is a fairly large design difference between the two. The signal is a very simple system, it has a plug and a piston and that's it.
It also has a very easy to put on gas setting and it's clearly marked on the receiver plus and minus less gas plus more gas so again it's very, very simple. For use on the Brinn, it is a slightly more complex gas system. Internally you have four pieces, you have the piston arm, a spring in the piston, then you have a connecting disc and then you have the plug, so there are four pieces versus two and the gas. system, also instead of having a two position gas selector, it has a three position gas selector on one, two and then off, which completely turns off the gas for some reason.
Now what we have also discovered from reading the owner's manual is that I do not have a description of what this gas system on the gun was designed for, the owner's manual clearly says in position one, which is standard for use daily, position two opens the gas port and gives you more gas and is used expressly for adverse conditions and is should not be used in a state as a standard configuration because it can cause damage to the gun and then also had the third position or off. This one is different because in the first position the gas port is completely off, in the second position it reduces the gas is a smaller gas port and then the third again is completely off, so we don't know if that second position is for a suppressor.
It is not indicated in the owner's manual. In fact, the operation of the gas system and the rifle itself is not clearly explained in the owner's manual, so we do not know that the gas system is simpler, this is a little more complex, but in the end it does not It means a lot because they both seem to be pretty reliable rifles. The other thing, I've noticed that I'm not going to bore you with a complete disassembly of both rifles, each has their own videos out there if you want to learn how to take them apart, but it's interesting that when you take this gun apart, the virtue when you look down, the entire front of the gun is completely open, there is nothing blocking it in the front, the only thing blocking it when assembled are the two recoil springs and the gas piston when recoiled, the entire front of the gun is open to En elements on the wing we can see some kind of light around the front trunnion, but it's so minimal that it's almost sealed in the front on the virtus, it's literally completely open, so it would be interesting to see how this would fare and one of our gauntlet tests now, if you go back in time to my mcx video, i was throwing my mcx in the mud and it seemed to work pretty well and it's designed exactly the same way with the entire front of the gun basically open to the elements. so I really can't say definitively which one is better.
I usually use less parts, it's better and I would say on this the sig system is definitely very very simple but the Bren is more sealed on the front and not torture proof. them I can't tell which one it is, you know it absolutely better than the other one, I just don't know, so I think it will come down to the guys, it's just a personal preference, everyone has their positives and negatives, you know, it's really It is really difficult to decide what other manufacturers have for rail systems. Lancer makes a lightweight fiber and carbon fiber handguard for this gun.
I'm sure other things will come up for Bryn because Bryn is popular, there is some aftermarket support for this. There is a bit of aftermarket support for the signal, so again it's totally personal preference from time to time. I think in this review I definitely like this about the Bren, so it's the Bren, then I go back and trigger the signal, there's something about This I like, so it's also worth noting that it was cz products. I have a very good history in terms of getting guns that work. I have not had any problems with my scorpions and yes, I know there are people who have had problems with the scorpions running out of battery.
I've never had that problem. My p10 C have always had very good performance. My cz 75 weapons. I love them. I'm wearing one right now. My Pio. I have had a very good history with cz. terms of not receiving lemons. I wish I could say the same about sig when I posted my virtus video. I read the comments like I normally do and there were people saying their gun was inaccurate, it couldn't be zero, it had all types. of problems and the signing was useless and then other people who agreed with me that their gun worked fine, the MPX, we had an MP a man. size target at 25 yards with a suppressor, replace the muzzle device and return to shooting at normal size groups.
Well he got a second one and recently the trade put a suppressor on it and it works well, that was a sign, it seems to be a roll of the dice if you are going to get a quality product or not, in my case this gun works very well, in my case, my rattlesnake works perfectly and I love this MC I like virtus better. We are talking a lot and it may change tomorrow. I can't really say it's an ergonomic issue. I can't really say it's anything you'd think it would be. I was discouraged that the entire front of the gun is open to the elements, but I've already thrown my mcx in the mud and it worked pretty well.
I have never had any problems with my MC With this virtue, I love the Brin, I really do, but maybe it's just that I can't get over the ugliness of the front of the gun. I don't know, but I think if I had to give up one, you could be it. the Bren, and this surprises even me, yes, if I wanted to reduce the recoil impulse, I could put a muzzle brake on it. It is suppressor compatible, although it would knock me out if I used a cigarette suppressor. I could put an OSS on it. I don't have to cut things out of the barrel here.
I think I'm pretty confident in my decision that if I had to choose one it would definitely be Lavertus. Alright guys, I can't wait to read his comments.
