Braceface Chronicles - Headgear Causes Underbite?!

May 07, 2020
I wanted to give you a quick update because I had a very strange turn of events over the last week since I had my last adjustment and today I went back to the orthodontist to talk to my orthodontist about it and I don't know, I don't know how I feel right now so I recorded a video the morning after my adjustment and I probably won't post it because it's about 15 minutes of me freaking out so I'll probably just post it. a little clip here and just saying what I was going through good morning everyone it's not a good day it's not a good day because I had a world line dream I actually couldn't sleep I was like and honestly I was literally probably every 30 minutes I would do it up close and so literally all night I could feel something happening in the middle of the night and just like my brain you know it's like you're in that sleep-wake state it's like If not, you would just be dreaming.

I have not done it. I showed it to them, but I can feel that what I thought was happening in the world really happened, so I just grabbed my phone and turned it on because I thought if I don't do it now I'll probably never see them. I can feel that what I thought was happening in my sleep-wake state that I thought no, you're just dreaming. I'm back to sleep, it actually happened, so we're trying to show you because I'm sorry, yeah. I will show you what you cannot see. Yes, I now have an

underbite

. My upper teeth, hi Dan.

And in the middle of the night they are late? So the night of my fitting I had a horrible night's sleep as I basically did. I didn't sleep at all because it hurt so much with the closure loops and the harness and the combination of elastic bands on top, so I guess according to my orthodontist, this is all what caused my jaw. changing positions in my sleep and he said that's perfectly normal, but for me, the morning after I got the adjustment, I woke up and I had an

underbite

, so I know how to react to that.

I was very scared, I would even say almost on the limit. Scared because I've never had an underbite. I've always had an overbite, so that's normal for me, but an underbite was what was going on in the world and it was so bad that my teeth, my upper teeth, were like that. Imagine these are the teeth, they were basically almost covered by my bottom teeth, which is weird and I just have to show you a video, so look at what I'm talking about and maybe I'll insert it like this. up in this area so you can see, but yeah, I was going crazy and my husband looked like he was waiting what happened here, but the pressure of the helmet and Luke's closure with rubber bands on top, I guess he was just pulling, pulling.

Those upper teeth were so far back that yeah, they just produced an underbite overnight, so I called my orthodontist first thing in the morning because I thought I couldn't go to work like that, so my orthodontist was out of the office that day. and for the rest of the weekend I was told that once the Adonis assistants told me to stop wearing my helmet, not to wear it again until Sunday night because then Monday morning you know I can come in and see my orthopedics, so I followed his advice. I did that and sure enough when I wore my helmet overnight this morning I got an underbite and but it wasn't as traumatic that's traumatic as the first time it wasn't as bad either so the first time my jaw hurt. putting my jaw in the proper position hurt like I felt it here and here and it was like I had to force my teeth back into their correct position like the resting position was like that and that's what was comfortable even though it seemed like a crazy to me, that's a person who has never had an underbite, but that was the resting position, this was the resting position of my teeth and to have to do this was for me to force it.
Now you know how you can give yourself an underbite by simply hitting it. your jaw out, you know your Lords are out, yes, it looked like he was doing that, but I can assure you that's not what he was doing, so I thought tomorrow the orthodontist today said that's perfectly normal and I asked him: what do you mean with this? Perfectly, I've never heard of this, but apparently according to him it's perfectly normal, and in fact, when I called the orthodontist's assistant, one of them said yes, that usually happens with children and teenagers, but I don't think I've heard that never. happening with an adult and I was thinking this happens to children and I have never heard of this so if you have heard of this could you please shed some light on this situation?
Because I had never heard of this. but talking to him today he said it's perfectly normal for my team to go into an underbite position, in fact he said it's a good thing because that means my upper teeth are moving back the way he wants them to be , you already know. We're trying to get rid of that overbite so I'm fine if you say so, so he literally did nothing. He was thinking worst case scenario, maybe he'll get some bite blocks, maybe he won't. I know what he was thinking I don't know what he was thinking what's going to happen, but one thing that happened as a result was he said I'd hate to waste all these hours, but you know I could stop wearing my helmet as in getting a good night's sleep, so I'm definitely going to do that.
I will switch to wearing my helmet only during the day because that was scary for me so I woke up knowing that I had to be at work in an hour and that I had another right and like I said, like I told you, that's not life talk , so you know, it was very awkward. I was in pain, you know? I ended up taking Tylenol and that helped me feel better. It's crazy and I don't know how to post this part of the video, but my husband actually suggested or mentioned in the video that he was filming about my side girlfriend.
He said, well, maybe you know, he just takes a hot shower, give it a little time and you'll know she'll wear it down. It's going to go back to normal and I was like, are you crazy? what do you mean back to normal, like back to normal like that, but actually I was totally right, you'll shower after that, it won't come back. every time back, many hours of movement like that, that's what I don't understand, so all this time, while my teeth were moving back and today I mean, before the epic zone alone, I only had one helmet, I felt like if my upper teeth were starting to lean back like this I don't want you to like it like that like that but it felt like this the whole time like my teeth were starting to sweat inwards and now I want to say this is beyond leaning inwards this is what's hitting so touching my upper brackets sounds weird, but it does what's happening.
I just can't believe it. Wow, I'm afraid to look at them and it took about an hour for it to go back to normal, but it did, it went back to normal. Surprisingly, you know I went to work with no problems, no problems, even when I spoke to my orthodontist today, he told me that it would never stay like this, that it would always go back to normal, so it would be back to normal again and basically I shouldn't worry. about it because he certainly isn't one at all, so yeah, I won't be wearing a hat at night anymore.
I will only use it during the day. Yeah, it was a crazy situation and I just don't know, like he never did it. However, I heard a lot of changes with my teeth and changes with my helmet. I don't know if you guys can tell, but my lips are on top of my head, like my helmet is practically in my mouth now because of the way my teeth are. Moving like I've never been, you know, sticking out my lips the way they currently are. You see how much of my lip overlaps the helmet on both sides, so obviously the zipper would start to do its thing.
You can see that my spaces are not there. really depressed, I can't, I don't know, it's very hard to know what's on it, but I mean, this space here is closing a lot faster than this one, but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if by then I went to make my next adjustment , which is only four weeks instead of my normal eight or ten weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to know that the next time they tightened it, I guess the closing loops did work and I was completely done with closing the gaps, so that's commendable, I'm sure my bite is totally different now, like my back teeth, all these molars are no longer touching, now only my front teeth are touching, so look Lucy, that's my bite. none of this is touching as you can see nothing touching, nothing touching, nothing touching, just these teeth touching so it's totally different than anything I'm used to because like I said I've always had an overbite so my upper teeth always covered my lower teeth. but that's no longer the case now that the space is closing so fast that my teeth are coming in so fast that you know they're practically on top of each other now and it's so weird because eating is uncomfortable because none of my back teeth are touching Al except when I had bite blocks, at least the two teeth on each side could touch because of the light block, but now since I don't have bite blocks or anything, nothing is touching in the back region, it's just these front teeth that They touch each other so literally.
I'm like, and so, trying to choose death well enough and it's very strange and very uncomfortable and I feel like my food is very thick, so I try to reduce the amount and eat things that are easily digestible like soup in several meals. you know, soft stuff, basically, that's not going to be all that thick and hard, so yeah, that's where I'm at it, so initially I was going to post that whole video of me freaking out over my girlfriend, but I thought no . Like I went back and saw it, I was like, oh my gosh, you look and sound like a crazy person, but I'll like it, I mean, I posted a snippet, I guess you guys have already seen it because I already inserted some here.
Somehow, but yeah, that really happened and it was horrible because it was like that literally this morning. It wasn't that bad, it was more like that, just a little bit, it was just a little bit less bright, I guess, but yeah. I didn't even know that was a possibility that she could develop and, below the right, wearing a headdress, well, according to what I'm worth about us, it's perfectly normal. I mean, he even went as far as to say, oh yeah, I had another one that, you know, had the same situation today, random patient. I'm fine, like a warning would have been nice, but it's fine, whatever it is, so it's perfectly normal.
I guess developing an underbite phone while wearing a helmet, which I think is weird, and I see you trying to show off your back. your own Chrissy, but yeah, that's my whole situation with braces. Today I'm a lot better than I felt then and the gaps are closing and I'm not freaking out because apparently it's normal, but things are back to normal now as far as my teeth are concerned, you know, my bike is frustrating right? having back teeth that touch so you can taste and grind your food really well, but you know it is what it is, it's a process, so I'm trying to hold on and Hey, my midline is starting to line up better, that's good and I like being able to see more of my bottom teeth yeah so you know things are going the way they're supposed to so I can't complain and thank you. guys for watching and if you do, if you have ever heard of this please message me, what the heck gets an underbite for wearing a headdress?
But apparently I don't know, but it's okay guys, I hope you have a great time. great day week down we will talk later goodbye
