BMW M4 F83 Detailing | Paint Correction Detail | Hologram & Sanding Mark Removal | Mineral GreyJan 25, 2022
Again, if you've come to see a dirty car cleaned and someone's mommy of her six dogs pulled out of a minivan, you're on the wrong channel, but if you're here for a cool car that's
detailed right, you have arrived um and if you haven't seen my videos before you watch the channel subscribe to all that nonsense let's get that crap out anyway another cool car being cleaned this week the interesting part about this week's video is that this Car was
detailed only six months ago now I'm back to be detailed again now as I start by deep cleaning the wheels and arches with the car jacked up for a little more access because this is a little low m car um let me tell you the story so as I say the client had had this detailed card with me six months ago when I say detailed
correctionceramic body coating ceramic body coating wheel ceramic coating on inside glass deep arch clean it's the whole nine yards as a pro for lovely work proper in the summer the pup was stolen from his driveway um an absolute hustler thought he had a right to go to the house of this man's family, stealing his keys and stealing the car, luckily because it all involves the person involved in stealing this. vehicle couldn't drive and parked it about three to five miles down the road unfortunately with a pretty severe amount of damage to the car luckily for the owner it wasn't a write off um love the car and just didn't want to see it it got canceled so it's gone tons and tons of body work was done not because it was destroyed because there was just a bunch of scratches and gouges on the car that wasn't there before and we had proof because it had been detailed um and In fact, you can go and see the original images of the card on my Instagram page.
I'll link it now on the screen and you can see when it was originally itemized, um, so we knew what the car looked like, it was appraised, it went in, it had all its work done and it came out and the owner actually told the insurers and yelled at lv about this because they've been brilliant apart from paying me with a check which is a little weird but he told them look I spent a lot of money having this car these now they said no problem when it comes out of the body shop send it back in detail i got all the work done again and we'll cover the bill and fair enough they did it um so that's why this car is now back with me a little history info a little bit about the bmw m4 convertible car um they're cool because they're a hardtop instead of a lot im a mercedes guy but these are great and its got the wheels light as i said before the wheels were thoroughly cleaned all four restored though they drove From the dealership where they finished the job for me. to put a nice layer of detergent on this car mega cool quit kit It's expensive but if you like foam guns you're going to be in this um five settings so you've got that jet to go into the arches, a h fan that is somewhat horizontal down so you can take down. on a roof if it's a big car the fan type of your vertical fan and the cone the setup you can see me using here is cone um and to be fair it's my go to unless I'm cleaning a larger vehicle big i'll go to h or v or if i need to go into an arc i'll go to that jet but the cone on this thing is just brilliant why hasn't anyone done this with a foam gun before but like i say the idea of using the foam gun and the rush of auto finesse on this was that it had been sitting in the dealership long after the body was finished waiting for parts and we told the dealership to look at not washing the car as much as possible so there was dust in nooks and crannies and areas that a wash mitt would traditionally slip over so sometimes that's why I like snow foam it's a pre-wash and to all you American viewers watching yes this is a prewash not a shampoo and here in the uk we often use a snow mousse before washing the car to loosen up the dirt as I say to myself it allows the detergent to get into areas I can't get to with a mitt wash and then rinse thoroughly and then wash the car the idea here is that we are making the car as safe as possible to wash in the contact stage a bit like when you use a bar of clay, you don't just go in and use a clay bar, you're going to put down iron rain remover, then deflect it, after that, you'll use the clay bar because you might be rubbing loads of contamination into the
paint, same thing here with the kind of UK washing procedure that I am very taken with by international viewers, it's pretty much how we do it here once it's rinsed off completely. lathered up with a little shampoo don't hate me the idea behind this is that some of the original detailed panels were s until as they were when detailed you could already tell by the beading of the ceramic layer and then the protection that was left there, the car was still in great shape, so to avoid a kind of unnecessary swirling layer of the last finish the pure shampoo is placed as a kind of additional lubrication laboratory between the lambswool wash mitt and the painted surface now as a demonstration the lip was done in the back quarter and the door was very flat and it was closing slowly so we could definitely tell this had been painted although it's covering up a little faster because it just unpainted compared to the tailgate, it was still freshly trimmed six months after its ceramic coating, so from the wash process I could tell what it needed more attention than others if you will so now With the car dry I threw a light on it and as expected there were
holograms absolutely everywhere it had been painted but there were actually some
marks on it as well the area. like you tend not to be able to get a polisher, that was also my problem now that i knew this had been painted. the paint depth gauge i had just seen and it created a report on the car so now i have that report if the owner wanted a copy of that i could send it to them that report shows me the depth readings for multiple errors on each panel in a very well built pdf page and it looks mega professional so like i say i could send that to a mail document and export it to my client if i wanted a proof and i wasn't sure what was painted but i was happy with the readings i was getting and to be fair it showed bmw had done a good job and then just whipped up what had already been painted so again that was good in terms of the paint
correctionthis time on the car i insulated some lotus areas that had that sand in d.a beam E
marks and as I say it wasn't in the middle of a panel it was creases and crevices that just can't be sanded out so the rotary came out because it's very accurate in edge work.

I can control it really well um and I just set it up through some headphones on a podcast and went on with the comp now do it used a one inch pad on the rotary for those really really tight areas um the bottom of the bumper it was pretty bad um and the lip around the wheel arch didn't want to tear up a big pad around it so an inch just did a good job of ensuring there was no chance of burning on the edges after you'd gone through a few hours going around the car chasing those sanding marks it was back to beautify the paint yes it will remove all the
holograms adding clarity back to the paint and depth of the polish yellow pad really very smooth and a nice finish polish again put on some headphones and just enjoyed the process this is a good bit of poly shing the compounds where you do your grafting these very low shear levels but what we're doing here is we're improving the look of the paint and again we use machines of various sizes to make sure all areas are perfect bye there you go it's perfect paint as described and as promised to owner no sand marks no holograms no swirls ready to make up um but one thing i always do is just go in with a microfiber cloth and get into the tighter areas where it's not getting a polish before i go in the composition so it was some of the areas on the side mirrors and the stems of the side mirrors on this m4 and while I was there I dumped a little bit of compound on the glass just to get rid of some water spots um but like I mean these are all the little areas that add up to make the detail really cool so when you put the coating on it's all nice and right then it's on to the applique tion of the coating.
I'm not going to bore you, I'll let the music play. usual process base coat csl tops wi The beautiful results already seen at the tailgate now as I say at the beginning of the video um when this was detailed earlier it was a ceramic coat with no wheels like the whole nine yards so again same process this time i was dealing with some newly restored wheels because as i say the poor criminal who stole this vehicle couldn't drive and broke all the wheels so they had been restored to straight black glass but while the wheels were off , I just took the time um I wasn't really in the price of the job or anything but OCD took over and just gave the arches another really deep clean before applying a water based bandage to all the plastics and let it soak while the bandage soaked. in um the wheels were coated special it will be coated here um I say special it's not particularly it just runs at a higher temperature than the standard body coating so it lasts a little longer now one thing which will not do The fact is, I took the center cap off because most people don't line up the center caps correctly on these wheels.
The bmw should sit on top under the m badge below which will be the valve stem which is now properly made and ready to go back into the car, they were then tuned back to manufacturer spec just so the owner has full peace of mind now the final piece of the exterior puzzle was a detailed swab and exterior siding just to bring those side grills back to life uh other than that it had all been recoated paint wise but i wanted to get in there with a swab so i could dig a little deeper into instead of just glazing with an applicator pad again one of those details that makes your car stand out compared to the next m4 you might see on the road finally for the exterior the glass was ceramic coated again um it was just necessary to coat the windscreen because bmw actually replaced this so they then applied three coats of tr coating It's layered because it's the windshield that gets abused by wipers so we want maximum owner durability for wet weather driving now with the exterior pretty complete aside from touching up a few areas prior to pickup it was on the interior again so my mindset on this a couple of parts on the interior were replaced including the drivers seat cover because again that was messed up by the stupid thief um but my thinking on this was someone stole this car and it sat in this car if it was me i would want it sanitized within a night in this lifetime not that it was sanded at the dealer but some bugger sat in this car i dont know what they are so i treated this interior clean as my own so i steam cleaned every nook and cranny and vent so everything just went flying no shop dust all leather was deep cleaned as you can see with a Nice strong foam lever cleaner, used steam on the lever to get it all out. it was like once again they took the full nine yards on this interior but the results were brilliant um steering ok same detail as seats lever cleaner brush special special all the old lisp kicked in there huh? isn't it, brother?
Commenting on that little haters um the steam cleaned the stitch as I say it was my kind of brain that took over and let me clean this to the extent that I would want my car cleaned if it was my car and I was going to put it back My family on it so I unfortunately got carried away with this one and the final piece of the puzzle was what I think is the best looking Swiss wax panel in the world for dressing up rims.
