Feb 27, 2020
oh hey, what's up guys? mkbhd here

airpods

pro I guess a lot of people care about these

airpods

. They became the most popular headphones on planet Earth pretty quickly, about two or three years after they were released, so Apple smartly decided to go ahead and capitalize. In that with a pro version of them aka one with noise cancellation and a couple of added new features they are pretty good so we all know they are 250 and they don't really replace airpods as much as they live on he. site next to them, so they are not just the new airpods, but they are also the best airpods, so in that impressions video I went over each of the new features of the airpods pro and what it does, and now that I have I've been using them for about a week, it's time to

review

how good each of those things really is, so let's start with the new design, the ever-so-memeable new design.

I think they are fine. I'm not really in love with any headphone design. At this point, it's nice to see any improvements over the Airpods 2, so the stems here are shorter, which is good, it technically moves the microphone further away from your mouth, but they sound just as good for phone calls, so, At the bottom of the stem you have a force sensor instead of a touch sensor now, so you're pressing to play, pause, double press to go to the next track, long press to activate noise cancellation. It was annoying at first because the shorter stem is a little closer to the side of your head. way they fit, but then I got used to just squeezing the sides, usually the only bad thing is that there is no volume control on the buttons.

More Interesting Facts About,

airpods pro review imperfectly perfect...

Honestly, I think that might be my least favorite thing about the design. I really don't want to have to ask. Siri to change the volume every time hands free, maybe it's just me, anyway they fit in this horizontal magnetic case which honestly is still pretty small, it's bigger than the old airpods case but still Easily fits in a pocket and many other wireless headphones. Cases have been hitting the studio lately and are typically much larger than the Airpods case to the point that some of them can't even fit in your pocket. I can still fit the Airpods Pro case in the little pocket I never use inside the pocket. in my jeans so yeah no problem here but of course the biggest difference with the airpods pro is that the silicone ear tips instead of the hard plastic that gets in your ears turns out to be a great victory for many people like me, who literally can't use regular airpods for more than three minutes before they slide out.

They actually stay in my ears. I can walk and move more than normal during exercise and they create a nice little seal and that's already a big functional difference, but the important thing for people who wear hearing aids is that the seal is not uncomfortable, so normally when They put headphones like this in your ears, they also push air into the ear, which can be uncomfortable because it creates a little bit of pressure there, but with the air pods. pro, the airflow cutout equalizes the pressure and when you wear them, it honestly makes it easy to forget you're wearing headphones, even for someone like me who doesn't wear them very often, which is impressive. you put them in your ear they are comfortable they have solved the first major problem which is staying in your ear the next question is how do they sound so i have two answers when the noise cancellation is off they sound like normal airpods.
airpods pro review imperfectly perfect
They are fine when noise cancellation is on, they sound dramatically better. The Airpods Pro get very loud to the point that I never need them at full volume and most, if not all, of the improvements in actual sound are a direct result of you having decent sound. seal now instead of having no seal at all before referring you to Quinn from snazzy labs for an audiophile's perspective on exactly what airpods sound in which he describes them as medium heavy and I completely agree but you I'll let you watch your great video, I'll link it below, that being said, let's talk about the noise cancellation, this is its biggest strength, so there are three modes of noise cancellation and transparency mode, and the noise cancellation is really impressive For me, with headphones that work well in noisy environments, but are at their best with more consistent white noise, so something like the noise of a coffee shop or being in a car on a road trip or even on a plane, You know, I was thinking about it recently because of the feature.
The set is so unique, I think this is my only pair of open-back noise canceling headphones, it's very strange, but I love that they cancel noise. Now you can't control the level of noise cancellation but it makes everything sound better and people who before You know, I've only used airpods or other headphones that don't do this will love them, then there's the transparency mode which almost blew me away Likewise, since it uses the built-in microphones to transmit the audio around you and it is this really natural sound pass. -Maybe with a little hiss or hype on the high end, but overall it sounds like you're just not wearing anything in your ears, which makes it easy to forget you're wearing them, so this is a good mode if You know how to walk or run on the side of a road or you are on a plane waiting to hear the announcements or you just don't want to be totally isolated from your surroundings.
Oh, and then there's the normal power-on mode in the middle, which doesn't really do anything crazy with noise cancellation or transparency, it just turns on the headphones and saves a bit of battery. This one sounds like you're using air pods with silicone tips. It's not an amazing sound, but you get a little. A little better seal than I would normally make for the overall battery for airpods pro Apple says four and a half hours with noise cancellation or transparency at five hours with noise cancellation disabled. I kept it on all the time. I had about four hours, that's not complete.
I fly sometimes, which is interesting, but the fast charging in the case is at least convenient, so if you run out of battery you can plug it in for a couple of minutes and get an hour of charge and they charge via a ray, so a couple of questions plus one, do they work with Android? Yes, now again they will not be the best for Android. They lose some of the convenient features - autoplay, pausing Siri integration, of course - but they work as Bluetooth headphones. Can third party custom silicone tips be used? Replace them with foam tips you may like better.
No, as far as I know, this connection between the earbuds is actually proprietary, so definitely try not to lose them because you're stuck with what comes in the box or you can go for the four bucks. replacement tips straight from apple at a surprisingly reasonable price they are good for workouts i sure have, technically they are sweat resistant, they are ipx4 waterproof which means you can sweat in them and they survived for me but if I was specifically looking for headphones for working out I would look more towards something like the powerbeats pro which specifically will stay in my ear better, take more hits and be fine but if you want just one pair of headphones to be fine for everything yes these will survive better to a training than the previous ones. the airpods then are the airpods pro the best wireless headphones yes, but no, but yes, but no, there are headphones that sound better, the sony wf-1000 xm3s, for example, uh, terrible name, these sound better than the airpods, they also have better noise cancellation than the airpods pro also have a longer battery life than the airpods pro and also have better customization in their app than the airpods pro as these are technically better headphones but the airpods pro highlights many things about everyday use, like the size of the case for one which is a pretty dramatic difference and also as silly as they may seem, there are other designs that are much sillier and you get used to the original material and it ends up being natural and so Of course, fast charging is convenient and the h1 chip so it pairs instantly with any iPhone you want and then with the rest of the Apple ecosystem and integrates very well with iOS 13.
All of this more than makes up for it. They are not audiophile quality headphones. They are not great dedicated exercise headphones. They are not the

perfect

headphones for flying but if I could only choose one pair of headphones to do all these things I would choose the airpods pro and a lot of people will make that decision, they are

im

perfect

ly perfect, the devil is that it is a word that is probably not a word but you know what the title will still be so that's it that's my Airpods Pro

review

they're really good and just for fun since everyone made it this far if you go to Twitter.
