We interrupt this transmission due to an emergency alert. The Department of Defense is confirming reports that an unknown object is entering Earth's atmosphere. Every time you talk about a new sci-fi series starring Katee Sackhoff, you have my attention and Netflix, who have done that. your new show called

now Katee Sackhoff, of course, was Starbuck in my favorite sci-fi series of all time, Battlestar Galactica, directed by Ronald D Moore and if you've never seen BSG, be sure to run to keep it in mind. an amazing series now

is kind of another story. I'm sad to say that I was going into this show with high expectations and a lot of hope and a lot of love in my heart and I have to say from the beginning that there is some good work here, but it just doesn't resonate, it doesn't have that kind of well-crafted organic feel, but The best science fiction there is, this mission cannot and will not fail.

I actually like Katee. Sackhoff, who plays the commander, the captain of a spaceship, called this sylvari the mission that has to go on this very dangerous mission to the far reaches of space because an alien artifact has landed on earth and a signal is being transmitted. that the scientists on Earth are one of The scientists played by Justin Chatwin are actually Katee Sackhoff's husband and they are trying to find out if there is a threat involved with this communication that is happening and they are trying to decipher the type of resonance and the signs that are. coming out of this giant fortification that just suddenly appeared on Earth, then you have a little bit of intrigue and a sort of mystery solving that happens on Earth and you get this Star Trek light space ride, Battlestar Galactica light drama that It's happening in space.

More Interesting Facts About,

You know, there's a kind of altruistic sensibility here, the idea that an alien species has contacted us and you know we're trying to figure out what their plans are and how they're communicating all those things is always intriguing and you know. It becomes more and more topical as we send more and more space vehicles to them. I can go deeper into the deepest space. It's a fascinating concept. It's just not handled with the greatest care. It feels very manufactured. It feels like the whole show has just been conceived. and created on a machine and it takes little bits of things we are familiar with.

Justin Chatwin, by the way, was the son of Tom Cruise and War of the Worlds, so there is this element of familiarity. Katee Sackhoff came from Battlestar, so you know, we have some. Trust Tyler Hoechlin who played Superman and the TV series Supergirl, he shows up here and every once in a while you see some familiar faces that you recognize from his mother, a fantasy or sci-fi infused type of entertainment, the problem is that this really It doesn't have the weight, it doesn't have any kind of sustenance and I think a big problem here is that most of the cast are very young and I don't want to sound discriminatory here, they may be young, but they just don't have, you know, the intelligence or the maturity of their characters, the way they present themselves and I don't think it's the actors' fault.

I think the actors were up to the challenge. just think they're written so poorly that everyone is arguing and angry and there's some crazy over the top drama that happens every time it's not just like infighting on the spaceship you know there's some existential threat going on someone's locked in an airlock air or someone has been infected by something and every episode it seems like certain doom will happen to everyone, what is that? and there's this kind of redshirt thing that happens on the show where people die, there's threads of concern for some of these characters and you know I like the relationship between Justin Chatwin and his little girl and Katee Sackhoff, so little girl, I thought it was kind of cute and you know I liked that it was two professionals trying to make sure the Earth was safe but I just didn't like them Peeta one of my challenges with this show is also the cinematography and the framing and the lighting it's all so flat and one thing I really understood is that it always seems like they are in boiler rooms.
That sounds a lot like sets on Earth, but they're always in fucked-up boiler rooms and they're fixing pipes and it always looks like they're putting Band-Aids or duct tape everything together and you know, like trying to get gum out. of things and stopping steam leaks and things like that, it seems so fake and so forced this time I just wasn't on the trip and this was starting to grate on my nerves and I think of far superior shells like the extension. which also has a lot of younger actors, but is created with much more maturity and you know that all the sets, environments and technologies of the extension feel very grounded in reality and believable, and as much as possible They have great science. -The fictional adventure in the spread doesn't feel contrived and that's exactly what Another Life feels like to me, it feels contrived, forced and mechanical and I just didn't have fun with this show.
I'm going to give it a 4.5 out of 10
