Jun 08, 2021
What's up, hooligans or should I say hoo, legends? I might want to take that back anyway, welcome back bears, which is 20 20 backwards, although we can't go back in time. I really hope that we all together have a better rest of the year in 2021 today. I'm doing my annual DIY gift video these are so customizable I think they're really cute and I honestly loved making them for fun and it was a really therapeutic moment for me so I hope you like them little self promotion be sure to stream my song that falls on your knees and also like to follow me on Instagram DIY generation if you don't want to pressure me I also experimented with different makeup today and a different look so if I look like an e-girl that's what love is, I don't know what's going on it's December I'm trying to close it tight let's get started so for the first DIY gift idea we're going to personalize some mugs and they're really affordable quick and easy.
aesthetic diy gifts
So I started by buying some mugs from Ikea, these were like two and three dollars and then I bought these acrylic paint markers on Amazon. I'll link everything below. These are supposed to be painted on a lot of different surfaces, including ceramic. so I'll talk about how well they worked later in the video, so for the first mug idea I was really inspired by these mugs that I saw from my attic on pinterest and it's basically this really simple and easy Memphis design, which is that . retro pattern from the 90s or 80s, definitely not from the 70s, okay, I don't know what decade it is from, but it's retro, so I'm starting with wavy lines with my blue pen and it's very easy to erase if you make any. mistakes in about five ten minutes and then I go in with my yellow paint pen and make these little lines that look like sparks and then I just add some orange dots, this took me maybe five minutes, it was super quick and super simple and I think it looks very cute okay because I love that design so much I wanted to make another one with a retro look so I took my pink pen and drew a bunch of little triangles all over it then I added my little yellow sprinkles and then some no no no no no no no no no no no no no okay sorry little one I'm too popular anyway, continuing with the design I just made a bunch of blue circles and then orange doodles and I think it turned out really cute, I love this. mug, moving on to the third design and we're really pushing these so for this one I wanted to go for a kind of outdoor camping vibe because my friends and I really like to go camping, I drew a couple of evergreen trees with My blue pen and then I drew a moon that was a circle with a crescent inside and it ended up being too big so I went in later and scaled it down a little bit but also added these orange dots for some stars in the night sky.

More Interesting Facts About,

aesthetic diy gifts...

If you want, this one was also super easy and moving on to the fourth mug, this time I took this blue-gray mug and a white paint pen and I drew a couple of mountains with some scribbled lines and I tried to make this as the night sky of the hemisphere but honestly it looked a little weird and I couldn't understand why and I was also on facetime with my friend right now wait this looks stupid I think it's because the edge of the um the sun hits the tip it looks so stupid okay I can fix it I can fix it yeah I'm just cleaning it literally it's like an astronaut bubble like I can't maybe I don't connect the ends of the roundness to the mountain okay maybe I just don't like the ball thing snow, that one looks better like you don't like being connected, oh yeah, he said, wow, you should be a graphic designer anyway, I ended up pulling out the whole snowball thing completely. and I did it under the open air after I let them dry, I put them all in the oven and baked them according to the instructions on the package of the markers and this is what I have to say about the markers, you definitely can't erase them with your fingers, but if you scratch them they will come off so obviously they are not permanent.

If you want it to be a little safer, I would recommend using ceramic paint with a brush, but I will say that it is much safer. the gray because it is more matte and that is why it grips the paint pencil much better, but I would say that if you wash them by hand and treat them with care, I think they will hold up decently. Next gift idea, I think it's great. so we're going to make these floral plant candles, so I'm going to take these two pillar candles that I also bought from ikea for like a dollar and then I'm going to take these tea lights.
aesthetic diy gifts
You really just need whatever type of candle wax matches your candle and I also bought these dried pressed flowers. You can press your own flowers, but we are currently in the middle of winter in Canada and these flowers are nowhere to be seen, so I had to buy them online again. Everything will be linked below. What I'm going to do is light this tealight candle and basically use the melted wax as glue to seal the flowers onto the candle. It's not that crazy so I'm going to use a brush to pick up the candle wax and I'm just painting one coat on the candles and it dries really fast so it seals really quickly and this is super fun and therapeutic and satisfying no it takes a long time.
I definitely can't take credit for this idea so I'll link below the Pinterest post I saw, but yes, I surrounded the entire candle and sealed it with a bouquet of different flowers and I'm doing the same thing. thing for the second pillar candle with a different color variety of flowers I had a lot of fun doing this it is very satisfying to do it for some reason candle wax is like one of those things that is really fun to play with but is also a little dangerous Fun fact , actually a really sad fact. I used to play with matches when I was a child.
I don't know if those are early signs of a psychopath. I'm pretty sure I'm not a psychopath, but yeah, I used to play with matches and stuff. It was so much fun, I used to do a lot of dangerous things when I was a kid, maybe I'll make a whole video about it anyway, I finished stamping all the flowers and plants and I think it turned out really cool and there are a lot of different things you can seal in a candle so maybe I'll experiment with them in a future video and since the flowers are on the side I feel like it's relatively safe to burn them anyway those are the candles so these next

are handmade keychains shrink plastic hand, these have to be some of my favorite DIYs I've ever done, so if you watched my cup pins video from a couple years ago, I basically brought it back to that, so I bought a pack of these sheets of pre-made shrink wrap online, but it's basically just number six plastic, which is usually found in takeout containers and whatnot, and luckily I found a piece of this at home.
It should have number six in recycling. firm, this is the only type of plastic that will work because it is a hard plastic to find. I'll leave the link below for the plastic sheets, so my idea was to create a keychain with one of those Spotify barcodes, so I just opened my Spotify and saved the barcode of the song I wanted on my phone and then in my photos there are just a bunch of selfies of me crying, which is very much a mood for 2020 anyway, I threw that photo on my ipad because I was going to trace that on my plastic sheet, I would print it, but I wanted to save paper and I'm also too lazy, so since these images are going to be reduced, you need to draw them three times bigger than I really want them to be, I just used a marker to draw it.
I feel like this is the perfect gift for a friend or family member or just someone you share as a common favorite song or as a memory attached to a song. It is a very customizable gift and in the end it looks very cute and then I cut it out making sure to leave room for the keychain hole. Also, if you make a mistake or have permanent marker marks left, you can use a dry marker. I erased the pen to get rid of them, so to make the keychain hole, I'm taking this hole punch and making a hole in the side.
I made two of these for two of my friends and I'm also making a bunch of other keychains with the Shrink Wrap that I bought online and it's sanded on one side so you can use crayons too, so I traced out a hidden bottle. I thought it was cute and I also love you, cultured and I also wanted to do this. butterfly, I found this image on Google from this Instagram artist and I traced it with my marker and filled in all the black parts with my marker but I used a colored pencil to fill in the center just to see how it would look and then I took my hole punch and I cut a hole where I wanted the key ring to be and cut those pieces out pretty easily.
You can add a border if you want, but it is not necessary to add one either. It depends on how you want it to look, I'm also drawing these as little citrus slices. I thought it would be cute. When you use crayon, it will be more opaque and when you use permanent marker, it will be transparent. It will look good. After taking out and cutting all the plastic pieces from my keychain, I was ready to bake them, so once you put them in the oven, they will shrink and also get thicker, so I preheated my oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and the I put. on a baking sheet on a piece of aluminum foil, I just laid them out and you can see them shrink.
It's so satisfying to watch that you really only need about 30 seconds to a minute for them to shrink and flatten. The shrinking process is very satisfying. I could literally watch it for hours and I'm so sorry, my oven looks like something exploded because something probably exploded in it. If they don't flatten completely, you can take a flat object after they are done and just flatten them. There were some out there, but they should flatten themselves out. I found that the plastic I used from the container I had at home wasn't as reliable. I didn't know how much it was going to shrink and it was more susceptible to burning and with the plastic sheets I found that if you bake it to the point where it shrinks and flattens completely, it will have this kind of frosted look, but if you bake it for 30 seconds to a minute more it will become completely clear, that's something I discovered through experimenting, but this is what all the charms look like after they're done baking, they're incredibly cute, but now I'm just going to put them on some keychains that I also pulled out.
Amazon so I'm going to put a jump ring on first and then the keychain chain and I'll definitely make more. I think I will list a couple of these in my store if you want to see them and buy them I will link them. in my store below I have a lot of them now because I've been making so many, but yeah, these are so cute and customizable and so fun that I feel like you can combine the Spotify barcode with a graphic keychain that I like. matches the personality of the person you are giving it to.
I love this DIY so I hope you enjoyed this video and I hope you have a great December trim the rest of the year. I know it's been a really difficult year for all of us. It's a lot harder for some than others and I really hope 2021 brings us a little more joy and if you're feeling down maybe you can do one of these DIYs. I think self-care is so important right now. My ears hurt because I have fake earrings and the weekend screamer is here and I'll see you next time, goodbye to your falling to your knees.
