Sir, put your hat back on, you'll be back, oh come on, nothing needed, just a warning, okay, okay, thank you Jesus for that, I can't believe you got a warning, buddy, yeah, how long ago? What does this thing have? I've had it for about three years. I built it in a year. With six liter natural aspiration. I drove it for about two years. In January of this year I took it apart again to build the turbo. I finished that in about three or four months doing everything. I built it myself, refitted it and have been beating it up for the last few months, I'm really just fixing things that break at this point, yeah she just broke a rear end and a shock.
A couple of things were removed, so I broke down. Replaced entire gear set and bracket as well as yoke, put 410 gears on, put on new belt cover, rebuilt all new rear end, dual spool calipers, uh, doing some testing , the heavy duty driveshaft fixed it and here we are. Basically, a hydraulic control valve that I can adjust down here allows the clutch to slip as much or as little as I want, just to help relieve some of that force from the driveline, it allows me to still run drag radials in a car with lever and uh I can't wait to see when you score that guy, that's going to be nice, so what would you say you like most about this?
At this point, I know it's probably changed, but what I like most about it is that no matter where I go, whether it's driving it at a car show, taking it to the track, it always turns heads just because it's different, Not many people dig up old Toyotas from the 80s and modify them, I mean, when they're usually on a drift course, yeah, and give them some kind of a beating? This one is pretty beat up, you know, 35 years of life, but it has that, but it's like that natural age, like it's not a fake patina, it's literally, the perfect balance, I mean, and you literally pulled this out of the backyard or Someone's front end, so about four years ago on my way to work I noticed every day that there was a TE72, which is the body style before this, really just the headlights.
The change was on the side of the road and I was talking to a friend of mine about wanting to buy it and we were back and forth so much that he threatened me what would happen if he did it. So I immediately left work that day and went and talked to the owner and bought it from him and started building that chassis and I missed how extreme I wanted to get it and you know I was driving down my road one day less than a mile from me house and I actually found this one, I just looked at it and it was in the guy's yard so I went back in and talked to him and I was actually about to throw it away so he said, man.
Give me what the price of scrap metal is. You can Google how much it weighed, multiply the price by the price of scrap metal and get it times 100 bills. So when I got so into the other car, I learned a lot and this one I mentioned. to the shop he blew it up completely to where it was just a shell put it on a spit welded it front to back to give it some strength it really had to have a custom made transmission tunnel firewall it was still stopped but the extra width that was needed to fit the t-56 i had to split the mat and i'm working with a guy right now to try to get a good custom mat because they're just not very easy to

. old Toyota carpet kits, so one of the questions I get asked quite often is when am I going to paint.
I work in the paint and body industry, but my goal for the car was never for it to be pretty, it was totally functional. I built the car to drive, it was never a drift car or a drag car, it was a driver, I wanted something I could get in, go shopping, ride around town, take it to the drag strip, have some fun. little and it's just evolved into It's more of a race car, so you know, it's got dents, it's got dings, it's got a hole in the driver's side door and I always tell people if I fix it, how's it going? to get the water out?
From front to back, it has been all new parts, all custom painted and powder coated by myself. When I was in college, I had an instructor that one of our first assignments was to build a four-inch cube out of foam core board and I had absolutely no glue that didn't show edges, and that was to teach you crafts, so when you look under the hood, when you look under the chassis, I tried to be as thorough as possible to make it clean and simple, um, just because that helps a lot, the craftsmanship is something you don't see.
A lot, it's only been on the track once since it was turbo, it ran naturally aspirated low seven and eight mileers, but I hope to take those seven to a thousand feet, which is all we have here locally, a question I get asked all the time. time. That's why I chose the corolla chassis and my answer is always good, how many of them do you see driving around? This makes people think it's a pretty rare car, that's what makes it a little more exclusive than a lot of other things that get changed. on the project cars before I had the turbo and stuff there I went to the local gas

station

and it weighed 20 gallons of fuel and I weighed 2800 pounds so I guess the turbo and all the accessories added maybe 180 to the car light at 100 pounds, big engine, good combination, feature plans for the car are a water to air intercooler.
The intercooler has enough room to fit in the front and I will put the ice box in the back and also put a cage. I have many questions. As to how safe it is to drive is sketchy, it's 36 years old and should definitely be there for safety as well as to give the car a little more rigidity. I have plans to build other cars and am on the hunt. right now to
