5 Things You Missed In Candyman TrailerFeb 29, 2020
I'll admit that was me when we got the new Candyman
trailer. The Candyman
trailerhas finally landed online. The reboot/sequel to the Candy Man franchise, once made famous by Tony Todd. breaking down the trailer pointing out some of the
thingsyou might have
missedexplaining how this movie fits into the Candyman universe but more importantly what did you guys think about this trailer next? I thought the trailer did its job for me but hit the like button if you're one of the people who really enjoyed this trailer to get fully updated with Candyman. This is being produced by Jordan Peele.
He even wrote the script, he's not directing it. this time, instead, he turned that duty over to Nia DaCosta. This movie is a direct sequel to 1992's Candyman. It will ignore Candy Man 2 and 3 so don't worry about watching those movies and according to this trailer it's heavy. ly connected to the first movie almost to where you can basically point out how the movie will play out by diving into the trailer I love how it starts off with this Candy Man thing being a trend like it would be in real life you know if this was a thing that even happened on the news there would be tick OCD there would be youtube videos and that's exactly what's happening here a bunch of teenagers doing the Candy Man challenge only to be visited by Candy Man moments later one thing I want to point out that as we watch this I like the upgraded look of the Candy Man in that quick shot we get, it's a sleek modern trench coat, but also very familiar to Tony Todd's original trench coat war.
I feel horrible for the girl left alive in the post because you know she's going to be blamed for all the murders that just happened in front of her that's a common theme within the Candy Man movies where once Candy Man shows up does his bidding someone else is to blame for what he did or worse in this case yeah ha Duel Bob will become the new Candy Man this is how Hollywood gets away with being a reboot add to sequel at the same time where you say it's connected to the first movie even though you've given us the exact same story that someone is looking into the legend of Candyman he gets too steeped in lore and ends up becoming Candy Man talking about the victim of the first one Candy Man Helen movie, she will appear in this movie so we will finally get an answer to what it is like to be a handyman through her eyes being one of atony Todd's victims and what seems more It's likely he's passing the torch to another victim and this character played by a hob Abdul is actually one we're extremely familiar with.
If you've seen the first Candyman movie, he mentions in the trailer that he feels very connected to the Cabrini-green town where the first Candyman movie took place and that's because we got to see his character as a baby in the first. Candym. and fans theorized a lot that this would be the case but now seeing the trailer the whole book confirms this here is the baby of the first Candyman you have the character saying he just feels connected to the city but the biggest gift . is that she sits across from her mother, who is played by Vanessa Williams, who is exactly the same actress who was in the first Candyman devastated when her baby disappeared and was kidnapped by the Candyman, that's why in the trailer her character is the more traumatized by Hearing those words, I love that little nod from Lytton, we don't say that word around here and basically confirm what a terrible legacy he's going to have to carry on or how Abdul's character will say.
I guess he found me other little nods in the trailer. What you might have
missedfor die-hard Candyman fans is being shown that Candyman's original design from Clive Barker's novel goes by very quickly, but this is the exact same image that's great. A little nod that they decided to include in the trailer coming up with some of the Candyman shots in this trailer. It is very much a silhouette, a shadow in the background. When he attacks his victims he is not even visible to them like Candyman is only visible through a reflection in the shadows he could see him through the window reflection here he also sees a shadow in the background and that Mir is loading that's common with Candyman and I love how they're bringing him into the modern age and many of you who are big fans of Tony Todd as Candyman don't worry he said he's still going to be in this movie don't expect him to be the one holding the hook hand and do most of the handing throughout the movie but Tony Todd already confirmed Jordan Peele called him out on the movie and they made a deal for him to be a part of it and if you're paying attention to the trailer , you can easily pinpoint where Tony Todd's cameo will appear. above is a very quick shot of Yahav Abdul that appears to be almost 90% complete with him transforming into Candyman.
His face and eye are disfigured by paint. but the person to the left of him is using a saw to cut off his hand and replace it with a hook. This looks like the perfect little spot for Tony Todd to make a cameo in the movie and pass the Candyman role to the new Candyman on the other side, Tony. Todd might be appearing in this movie, he's very slight and maybe it's just my imagination, but from this shot here of the reflection that Yabba Abdul healed himself, he looks like a DHT Oni Todd and how he looked in the original 1992 Candyman yeah they managed. to do that where throughout the movie the new candy man in his own reflection sees Tony Todd I think that's poetic that works and that makes them the ones who show the original Candyman a little bit of respect but those are Just a few of the
thingsI caught in the Candyman trailer that you may have missed.
