4K 2018 Cadillac CT6 - Can it Compete with the S-Class and 7 Series?

May 31, 2021
A couple of years ago we had the opportunity to drive the new Cadillac ct-6, their flagship sedan, which was located in Southern California and although that trip was fantastic, it was a little short, it was just a rush launch, so Today we have the

Cadillac ct-6 and we are going to spend a lot more time sitting in it. The CT-6 is the largest in the Cadillac Sedan family and compared to its closest competitors, the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class. It is very similar in size and style. I think it's definitely more modern, as opposed to the more classic lines that Mercedes and BMW have on the front.

It looks like a very elegant use of a brushed metal look. I love the style of the grill. especially the different shapes of the lines and that big Cadillac emblem in the center of the side, it has the characteristic vertical LEDs of the Cadillac. This is what they called indirect fired LED, which means that it is not only good for a daytime running light, but also helps at night lighting really works for me, especially the two brushed metal parts that really seem to continue the line of that vertical column of light that descends to the side.

More Interesting Facts About,

I like the use of the monochrome Cadillac logo. This is the platinum model, so it comes with 20 inch wheels. I'm sure it would look better if it had some high performance wheels on the back. They've integrated the very nice LED taillights into the rear panel and deck lid, and this one also has a quad-tip exhaust. I really like the way it looks, it looks like a bargain, of course in a full size luxury sedan you expect to have plenty of boot space. Well, this boot is electrically activated and also has the nice kick function. I want to give you an idea.

How much space can you put in? I have a camera bag here. It's a nice sigh, you can see here, but that's nothing. I put this box here. This is for some chairs we purchased. Look how big these boxes are. Does not fit. The problem in the back, the interior of the ct-6 is very fresh and modern, although there are many different materials and patterns, for example, you have wood, you have this kind of perforated leather, you have leather, you even have some. from a stripe design on the door handle or door panel here, when you put it all together, it looks pretty cool, what do we have behind the wheel?

Well, we have a nice configurable screen that you can configure however you want, very easy to use now. The interior is a little different than other Cadillac sedans like the CTS or the XTS. I think this will be the new interior at the center, although you have a four point two inch infotainment screen or their signal system, the Cadillac user experience. Now let me tell you what I like about this, first of all, it's a touch screen, so you can touch whatever you want here, plus you have a trackpad and on the trackpad you can select things.
I don't know if you can hear it, but it actually makes my finger ring too, so it's a very welcome feature on a lot of new cars that come with a nice, fancy back button, although honestly, if you have a touchscreen and a trackpad most of the time you're probably just going to use the touchscreen, it's a lot easier, another thing it has Apple CarPlay and an Android auto backup camera and a 360 view and this one, since it's a Platinum edition , comes instead of the 10-speaker stereo system, comes with the 34-speaker Bose. The Panarea system is really spectacular, like other new Cadillac products, it also has electronic camera mirrors, so it works like a normal mirror or if you move it, it works as a high resolution wide angle camera in the rear .
Now, this is not your backup. camera, this is a rear view camera so think about this instead of looking out a window that might be fogged up or has passengers in the back or is obstructed because you know you can now see a couple of headrests when you move it . The camera basically eliminates any blind spots because there's nothing to block it unless it's dirty, but there's even a wash function. This is a feature I could really get used to. There are so many things to talk about about the interior of this vehicle. The Alcantara. The headliner, the 20-way power seats with massage functions for both the front and rear, we'll get to the rear in a second, also some little things that I really like.
I like the gear selector. I think it's super cool that they haven't left. button or something, it's a good manual gear selector, but it's nicely styled and here's a little thing: it has heated and cooled seats and a heated steering wheel, but it also senses the outside temperature when it's cold. as it is today, it turns on the seat heating for you, as well as the steering wheel heating and the seat heating, depending on how cold it is, it may not even go all the way, but just a little bit to relieve stress and the same applies. applies if you use the remote start and you can get into the car and it's nice and toasty, it's a small thing but it's something that makes a difference, although any luxury sedan has to answer to two masters: the driver and, of course, the passengers, so let's see what the back is like, okay, we're set up in the back, I'm just going to stick my head forward so you can see me a little bit easier, but there's plenty of headroom, a decent amount of legroom you should have now, that's right. equipped with the rear seat entertainment package, so you see, we have two pop-up screens coming out of the seat, there's a DVD, a Blu-ray DVD player, there's USB here in the front, as well as a power outlet and a plug 12 volts. power supply and there is a remote control and wireless headphones, you also have a side sunshade and the rear has an electric sunshade and you can control the rear sunshade for the large panoramic roof as well as open it up here and in the center there is a button here you put that big console towards the drink holders and you have the seat adjustments so the power seats in the back are heated and ventilated and of course you can't go without massage so this one has the massage function as well. and you can control different types of massage with the little joystick here we have roll we need lumbar stretch and you can also control how hard it goes so yeah a very well equipped back seat that's how we're going to start the driving part in silence .
That's how quiet the interior of the CT6 is. We are surely not running right now due to the auto start/stop feature. We are at a traffic light, but there is so much isolation from the outside world that you can hear the engine we will talk about. the second, there's a little more road noise because we're on winter tires right now, it's still winter here and otherwise that's how a luxury sedan should be because, to me, that's the experience which you really want to isolate yourself from, yes. all those things out and just enjoy them, especially with that 34 speaker panoramic or a stereo system, just sit back and relax.
There are three power plants available in the CT six, firstly a turbocharged 2-liter 4-cylinder engine with 265 horsepower and 295 lbs. -ft of torque now if you get that one that only comes in a two wheel rear drive configuration then you get into the v6 which is all wheel drive so you have the 3.6 liter v6 with 335 horsepower and 284 lbs. . ft. and then you get the best engine, the 3-liter twin-turbo engine that we have here in this platinum version with all-wheel drive and that makes 404 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque personally if I had one of these for a personal vehicle , I would choose the best one for sure, it's that the power is so smooth that you actually forget that you are driving a six cylinder and you forget about those old V8s, so you don't need them anymore with an engine like this.
All engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Now this one on the Platinum also has four-wheel steering, so it really helps with a long car like this for tight situations, parking, turning things like that, but also at higher speeds. It also helps with more dynamic handling because the wheels actually turn in the same direction as the front wheels, not much but you can tell that one thing I'm a big fan of not only the CT six but other Cadillac products and GM is your magnetic. drive control, that's what this one has, we have drive motors, there's sports and then there's snow and ice, but you know, I'm pretty sure most of the time you're just going to use touring in a vehicle like this and I.
I'll give you an example. The nice thing about this magnetic ride control is that it makes it quite dynamic to drive, but when we go through something like this, we go over big obstacles and it handles the way you would expect from a Cadillac. to navigate it through the catalogs of yesteryear that would just float over them, you can still do that, but you don't feel indecisive while at the same time you're testing your way a thousand times a second and you're analyzing. everything from the driver inputs, the angles, you know the throttle position and you can control the suspension so quickly, so if you really ask it to work, let's say you need to do some quick maneuvers, it stiffens up very quickly and that marks the difference, regardless of whether you're driving briskly or someone just jumps in front of your car, if it's an option I highly recommend getting that magnetic ride control, it's revolutionary now this flagship Cadillac has a ton of nice tech too.
Well, all the advanced driving aids you can imagine, this one also has a head-up display. I mentioned it has night vision, basically pedestrian production, it also has a really cool feature called super cruise, we're not going to test that, be sure to check back in an upcoming review for a full review of the super cruise feature and that's it Cadillac's basically autonomous system. I always forget to mention why I am driving a Cadillac product about this other feature and I think all car manufacturers should incorporate this. The Cadillacs were the first and they've had it for a long time and what it is if you have your lane departure system active if you're drifting out of the lane for example or you're backing up and you're approaching something or you're moving forward you're close to a curb. something like that instead of just beeps or an audible sound the

cadillac

makes your seat vibrate and it's actually a pretty good jolt, it's not like it's not going to shake your seat but you really feel it and it makes a big difference there's not much else What can I say about this CT6 is it smooth the power delivery its v8 type of performance is very quiet and comfortable whether you are in the back or the front I tell you you could spend hours and hours and hours in this car and I really can't wait to try that super cruiser for a super long trip when I was a kid my grandpa only drove Cadillacs and my dad. he owned quite a few Cadillacs and even passed one on to me too so I'm pretty familiar with how they drive and drive and to be honest I'm a big fan of big luxury sleds and well these new Cadillacs are nothing like those old Cadillacs of yesteryear, sure you still have that feeling of luxury, prestige and the solidity of a Cadillac, but other than that you have a very sophisticated ride, now it's not too harsh, it's not too soft, you get handling, You get power and all the technology.
