35 NEW PRETTY Farmhouse Dollar DIYs | Dollar Tree Crafts

May 30, 2021
Hello friends, welcome to my channel, today there is a mega video of more than an hour and a half of inspiration just for you. Let's start making

crafts

for this DIY. We're going to grab six of these super popular galvanized corrugated metal frames with clips from some painter. sticks and then some of these really big tongue depressor sticks that I buy at Walmart. I'm going to take the frame off the back and then with my little eyeglass screw kit, I'm just going to remove that little screw and we're just going to put them away because I'm sure another day I'll find a use for these little clips and then we'll just glue them on. everything back in its place and the part where I got rid of the back.

I'm putting that part inside the frame so the back looks really nice and finished. Then I'll take two of them and glue them on their sides. I'm making sure the holes go in the opposite direction, as you can see. Right there I wanted to make sure they came out so it didn't look like you had two random holes in the middle and then I put two together lengthwise, two together lengthwise and then I took the fifth and sixth square and that will become the sides of a lovely box with a handle that we're making so we're just going to add a little bit of glue and then we're going to come back with our staple gun and just secure it to make sure everything's nice and snug and it doesn't come apart.

More Interesting Facts About,

35 new pretty farmhouse dollar diys dollar tree crafts...

I don't always rely on just hot glue when it comes to certain things. I like to secure things because I don't want things to break and fall apart. I, while I use them when I make them, I want to make sure they last forever. Then on the inside, I'm going to take my painter's stick and I'm going to add a bunch of hot glue in there and I'm going to glue it in place and then I'm going to come back with my staple gun and I'm going to add a couple of staples to make sure everything is nice and secure a Once you have the two handles on one on the opposite side of the other.

On the shorter parts of this box, I'm going to cut the top and bottom off of these long sticks that you can get at Walmart and I'm going to make sure that the end of the box is the right length and this is It will become the base of our box. Now I don't just rely on hot glue anymore. I think it can come off very easily, so I'm going to go back to my staple gun and just put one in. staple each of the sticks at the top and bottom to make sure everything is nice and secure and then at this point we'll go ahead and add the handle now that I have this stick that I have in my craft. room from the home improvement store, but you can honestly use a plunger for this.

I'm just going to cut it out with my miter box and my saw and then I'm going to go ahead and screw that into place using my drill. I always like to pre-drill holes anytime. I work with these painter's sticks because they can chip

pretty

easily, so I always pre-drill the hole first to make sure everything comes out nice and smooth, and then I just drill it. everything in its place and now at this point you can add any paint color you want to distress it and it will look so adorable to use in your home during any season of the year.
For this DIY, we will be using some of these glass jars. I picked them up at the target but honestly you can get them everywhere and a lot of them on the

dollar

tree

and then some rope from the

dollar

tree

. I'm going to use two white nautical ropes and then one brown rope, so what I'm doing is noticing that these should be a certain length at the bottom and I'm going to make a big oval shape because we're going to make a basket of glass jars to hold them all. I'm going to keep twisting them until I get to the end of that rope and then I'm going to add that second rope.
I wanted to make sure it's wide enough and that the join of those two ropes is at the bottom. and then I'm going to start building the side. Now I'm showing all the steps of this because I just want you to see exactly how I built the side where you can make your basket really strong. My biggest recommendation. is to make sure you massage those strings every time you put another dot of glue along that line and then once you've got them all going and you notice it's getting stronger and stronger, this is the best I'm going to do. .
I actually put some handles in here without having to compromise the rope being cut. You can see I pulled it out a little bit more and then continued my journey, so now I've created two handles and then where I stopped, I'm. I'm going to bring back that darker rope and I'm going to go around it two more times and it's the coolest basket to be able to hold these glass jars. They now sell them for a very high price on places like Pottery Barn Friends. I did this. For three dollars, know that you can have the most beautiful things in your home for almost no money.
Once the basket was ready I added my jars and any florals I wanted for this DIY, we will use two of these white ones. wire baskets for dollar trees, one of these wooden pallets that you can get in the craft section and then I have this stair railing that I had left over from another project that I bought at a repurpose store. I started by drilling a hole in the bottom which way I could put two screws in to make sure it's tight to that wooden platform, then I'm going to take my wire cutters and cut two circles that are almost the shape of an oval just by the way there's wire in the bottom of these two baskets and then I'm going to go in with my drill again and I'm going to drill a hole in one direction and then I'm going to drill a hole in the other direction so there's this cross hole going through both sides of the bottom of this stair railing and that's because we're going to attach two zip ties that go in opposite directions and then we're going to bring that wire basket back in, it's just going to be able to slide down into place and then I'm going to take those zip ties, I'm going to take them to the wire basket and then I'm going to tie that basket directly to my wooden railing and it's going to hold it nice and tight with these two cross zip ties, so I'm going to repeat the same process for the top basket and then I'll take it down, find the space I want between the two baskets, mark it and then Go ahead and drill my holes doing the same thing in one direction and then the other.
Once I had my two holes, I went back in with the cable and zip ties and tightened everything in place really well. You can see here that We're not going anywhere because the zip ties are very tight and then on top I wanted to add a knob. I thought it would be really cute so I drilled a hole in the top of the wooden railing, took one of these dowels and then These wooden balls I bought at the hobby lobby with the 40 off coupon and then I'll move on and I will glue everything in place so it won't come off if it gets bumped or dropped, it will stay fine. and tight and secure on the top of the railing, then I made sure to give everything a nice coat of white paint, then I took two of my favorite gardening labels that you know I use here all the time on my channel, I added a little hot glue flipped I added more hot glue to the back to make sure everything is locked in place and then to give it that enameled metal look I'm taking some black paint and going around the top of the basket.
Now we could leave it as is, but I wanted to make the bottom look more

farmhouse

and add some boxwood, so I glued on some foam squares left over from the first project and then added that greenery as much as I wanted and it will be ready to use if you are new to my channel and enjoying this content, don't forget to like this video and make sure to click the subscribe button so you don't miss any more videos that will be coming out here on my channel for this For the project , you will need nine of these boxes.
I picked them all up from the dollar tree around Christmas time, but they definitely have them year round. Then with a ruler, I'm going to create two angled lines and then a little bit. of an edge on the box, this is going to be done on three of the boxes. Now you can see here. I'm using my big scissors as I go down the side, but when I got to that corner I noticed a small pair. The scissors were much better for that so they didn't cause any part of the box to break, so take your time when cutting those corners and make sure you don't force the cardboard because it will break if you do.
I'm not careful so once I went up the side and cut that part out I repeated it two more times for my other boxes then I took some hot glue and some e6000 because I really wanted it to stay together nice because I want to keep this forever, I love this thing. Now I'm just going to glue them together so they hold in place and then I'm going to use some of these dollar tree clips. These are the cutest and I think they are very useful in my craft room, now I have three at the top and I will continue down with three more boxes, just normal, uncut, and then I will go down to the bottom and then I will make another row of three Once I had everything glued nice and tight and firmly in place, I took it outside and gave it a nice coat of gray spray paint.
Now we are going to create a galvanized look, it is very simple to do, you are just applying paint on top. From the gray spray paint you originally had, I went from a dark gray to a medium gray and then to a light gray and then very small bits here and there of white. We want the white to be that part where it just shines when you look at it. galvanized metal and then I just use a paper towel and keep rubbing it until I get the look that I like, but if you want all those colors to show through, now I'm taking some long painter's sticks and I'm cutting them up.
Down to the size I need for the length of my container I'm making here and this inspiration came from one of my favorite online stores. I'll link it below. They are most likely sold out on this particular item, but I love them. Stuff I feel like you can put so many fun things inside them and it's so fun to be able to decorate them on a shelf for a holiday. I just think they're so cute and the inspiration they came from was so expensive. Seriously, I'm getting it for like ten eleven dollars compared to the price listed below in my description box.
Now I'm simply adding some labels, screwing it on with a glasses screwdriver and it's ready to be decorated. Do this next. DIY is super simple. I'm going to grab one of these long dollar tree signs, some of these mini frames, and some knobs. Now I'm going to start by taking my heat gun and removing the sticker from the back of the sign because it's already white and that's going to save me a lot of time so I'm going to go ahead and line up my picture frames where I want them to be spaced out nicely on this bar that you can get on the dollar tree. and then I'm going to take my drill and just drill holes right into the bar where I mark those points once I've cleaned all the dust off, then I went ahead and took my drill and put the knobs on the sign. and then I just screwed them nice and tight to make sure everything was there securely.
Once I was done doing that, I went ahead and went back and painted the knobs and added a little more white to that sign. I ended up not. I painted the back of this one because again it was already very white and perfect and ready for what I was looking for. Then I took some photos, but honestly, you can put whatever you want in this frame. You can spell the words home or love, whatever. you want but I wanted to do some family photos for mine, I went ahead and put them inside the frames and then on the inside of the backing I went ahead and stuck some tape, I put it all there, I held it all together, I made sure the glue was holding that ribbon in place properly gluing it to the frame once I was done doing that and gluing that ribbon and holding it in place I went ahead and distressed my rod a little bit and hung my photos.
I found this darling little box from home and thought it would be really cute to store all my kitchen utensils, so I'm going to go ahead and sand down some of these raised items that I don't want in here once I get them. Everything smoothed out. I'm going to go ahead and take the handle off and then I took it and painted it white. I gave it a couple coats of white paint to make sure it was nice and crisp and then I went ahead and opened it up. the handle back on the little house at this point was ready to be decorated, now you can put it back on and add little popsicle stick windows to it, whatever you want, but I thought how cute it would be if I just put a nice big s on it .
There's a monogram there for our family name and it's going to look so cute so you can see here I'm roughing it up a little bit and then I'm going to come back with my pencil and I'm going to draw an s for sambal and then I'm also going to go in and create a crown that It rotates around the bottom and top of the s. Now these types of containers are in all the thrift stores, people are always getting rid of these. because they are just obsolete and they don't know what to do with them and they just get rid of them,so I thought how nice it would be to give it new life by just giving it a fresh coat of white paint and then I'll put something new and fresh and farm friendly on it, so I'll go ahead and just come back with some black paint.
You know I love hand lettering because I feel like it's so cost effective and honestly it's therapeutic now. Before I went ahead and added the rest, I made sure to dry myself off along the way. so I don't accidentally smudge something and then I'll go in and start working on my s now I will say I get asked all the time having a cricut it's really awesome I have one and I love it and I also have a silhouette I love them both they both have a great value, but I will also say that you don't have to have one of those machines to be able to get this look.
Yes, it's much faster, but again, if what you're looking for. something that is therapeutic and relaxing, this will definitely hit the spot, so don't be afraid to use your hand and hand paint. I always sketch everything first and then take my time, put on some music and relax. Now I'm going to come back with some gray paint and I'm going to apply a slightly dry brush around the sides and over the s and that crown that we just did and remember you can use a dry brush with whatever color you want, take a little bit off if it's too much. in some areas with a cloth and then come back and add whatever you want to this DIY, we'll use some of these square wooden plank painter's sticks and then seven of these long signs that you can get all year round at the Dollar Tree, They always use this sign for every holiday and season, so I'm going to start by removing that front 3D Christmas tag and then the tape and staples on the back, then I'm going to take three of them. put them together until they are perfectly aligned and then glue some long painter's sticks and this will allow the box to get stronger and stronger so I'm also going to cut some pieces so I can put them on the sides of the box and I'll show it in just a second, but you can see here that once I have things glued together, I'm stapling everything so that we have those seams in the middle and then the ends and that's where the side of the box we're going to start coming together and the ones that I cut, you can see here, I put them towards the top of two of the lengths for these long signs and those are going to go on opposite sides and right now I have those last two signs.
I'm going to measure how long I want it to be so I can customize the top and bottom of our apothecary drawer, so I'm just scoring. along this line once I had exactly where I wanted to cut and then they break very easily once you mark it a couple of times on each side and I just go back and forth to make sure I have a nice clean cut , then I'm going to start gluing on all sides, I make sure that when I put the glue on it's a thick amount and then I'm going to line everything up because you really have one shot at this, so I make sure that I'm lining everything up and pressing on the too. middle to make sure there are no curves in the sign, then I'm going to place the top and bottom and you can see where I cut those wooden sticks before, so this way I have a joint so I can lift the sides of the box at this point the box has been completely built it is very strong using all the reinforcing painter sticks and now I am gluing all my squares of wood planks I wanted to decorate this box a little to give it some decorative mold embellishment so I am using some of these long wooden dollar tree sticks and I also cut them down to the size where I need them to be with some wire cutters and then I put them up at the end. above I took a long popsicle stick, it wasn't long enough to reach all the way so I ended up having two pieces and just put them together.
I originally put some staples in the front and found it to be very strong. At this point I could really take them off so I gave it a nice coat of white paint and now I'm going to go in and distress the box. This part is really up to you and how much you want to distress it or if you want to do a different color, but I decided to use a little more weight around the squares of the box to make them look like old, beat-up drawers because I really love how vintage it is starting to see each other and now I'm going.
I come back with some of these metal tags and then I'm using a small eyeglass screw to be able to put these screws in just because they're so small, I thought this would be the best option, but I made sure to drill my holes. First, that way I didn't have any problems trying to get through that wood, then I added some handles and some knobs. I ended up making little handles and knobs because I didn't want to use all my knobs, these were actually a little more expensive than I wanted to commit to putting everything into one project, so I mixed them up and went back and forth between these little handles and knobs.
I'll link everything I used for this hardware below in my description box. and then at the end I got to the top and painted something cute that says Vintage Market Company on Instagram. I host a weekly challenge called a craft haul. It's a really fun place to go and it's very easy. to play along just head to my description box it will take you to the link we post every wednesday at 8pm. EST, and you'll be able to share your beautiful projects with everyone in that crafting community. It's something very fun. Try to come and I will give you all the information on how to do it there.
Just message me when you arrive and I'll direct you to the right places so you can join in on this DIY we're going to do. Taking three of these long signs and painter's sticks and four of these round balls that you can use as feet on a tray, now I saw an inspiration for the tray on one of my favorite online sites that I shopped at and the tray was so expensive that I thought not. way I can do it myself, so we'll just take our measurements. I'm lining up the sides of my tray box, making sure you know I forgot to mention that I also used two of these large dollar signs. tree too, sorry I forgot to mention it at the beginning, but I'm just measuring everything where I need the side cuts of my tray box to be.
I'm just cutting them to the size I have. I have two of those. and then I'm going to go in and make sure that I can strengthen it by cutting off some of these dowels and I'm going to use them to attach the sides so that it's nice and clean instead of having a bunch. of screws on the side of my tray box. I wanted it to look as clean as possible so it's a little tricky at this point because you have to decide where you're going to place these studs, this probably isn't the most professional way to do it but this is how I did it and this is how I move around in my craft room.
I'm always improvising because I like to try to push my limits of creativity so I took that little peg hit with some green paint tapped it on the two sides as aligned as I could and now I'm just drilling some holes to match the size that I need to get the pins to go down there and then I'm going to go in. the long part of the tray and as you can see here I'm doing it on the side versus the ends, then I went ahead and put in my little dowels that I cut adding a bunch of hot glue inside all the holes. and then I'm going to put that in here and I'm going to take out my checker hammer every time I take it out and start hitting it sounds like I'm working in santa's workshop always makes me laugh just Feel so professional with my little hammer so in this one point my box has been completely built following that step on all sides and now I'm going to measure the bottom of my box, I made a long line and I'm writing it down.
Moving on and placing them where I need them now these two signs are a little too long where they hang over the side of the box so I had to reduce the length of one of the long sides so again I'm just going to make a long line with my marker Sharpie and then I'm going to mark it and break it and you can see here how easily they break. Sometimes it can be a little tricky when you get to an edge where there isn't much to hold on to, but I went ahead and just put them on once they finished cutting them to size with some hot glue and I'm going in with my gun of staples so we can staple everything in place now it's time to add the feet to our tray.
For that we are going to use these wooden balls. I lined them up where I wanted a hole drilled that wasn't too big because we want to be able to hold the screw, but not where it's too small. It will cause the sign to crack if you're not careful, so I went ahead and found the right screw and the right drill bit and I'm just going to make sure my hands and fingers are out of the way so nothing comes out. Through that wooden ball and I'm going to screw the four feet in now, at this point you can go ahead and choose whatever color you want to paint it.
I chose a fairly light gray color, added a handle and then made it. a little nerve-racking for this DIY, we're going to need three mirrors, three of these long signs, these are for Christmas, but they have them all year round and then some long painter's sticks start coming out of the front of that extended sign. tape and then the staples, once you get them out, I turned them over to the back and I'm going to put them all together with some painter's sticks and I'm going to glue them in place so they're nice and As straight as I can, now I'm going to create a box around this particular sign that I've already put together, but it won't be a sign, folks, it'll actually be a jewelry cart for the wall.
I thought this would be cool. because they are so expensive they can cost up to a hundred dollars and I wanted you to see that with just a couple of dollars and being creative you can customize your own jewelry cart, so once I had all the wood cut to size and glued them together I went ahead and I stapled the corners together first then I turned it around and added a lot of staples to the back this way so if it falls off it won't break then I'll attach it to my long painter sticks making sure the right size for so the mirror can go halfway and then once I had them where I wanted them, I went ahead and glued them together and then stapled them into place.
I'm going to start customizing the different boxes on this unit. I wanted to make sure that this line crossing here from the original signs I wanted to hide some, so I'm going to go ahead and cut them down to size so they're smaller. boxes and I'll show you a little bit later what we're going to do with that and then I'm going to create one more and you can see I made my marks with a pencil where the mirrors were and I'm I'm going to go ahead and glue the next piece and then I'm going to staple everything in place making sure it's nice and secure, then I took it outside, gave it a good coat of black spray paint and now I'm hot adding the e6000. glue to make sure the mirrors don't come off, then I'll take some dollar tree contact paper, cut it to the right size, and then rub it into place.
Now at this point I wanted to drill a couple. I found the right size holes that I needed to be able to fit the dowel and then I can slide my dowel through those spots that I just drilled and then I'm going to cut off the excess of these wooden dowels that I don't need. and then I just glue it in place and then I go over it with a little bit of black paint to make sure it covers it, then up at the top I used my smallest drill bit and drilled a bunch of little holes so that way I can hang it all my necklaces so now I'm screwing in some of these gold hooks that you can buy at any hardware store once I was done with everything I was ready to be able to add this last little bit of cork. to put earrings and it is ready to be used in this DIY.
In the end you will see that you can take these dollar tree cutting mats and turn them into practically anything. I love them because they are a strong and resistant material. work but you can also cut them, so I'm taking my ruler and my cutting mats and I'm just cutting a bunch of strips, I'm making a bunch that's two inches thick and then a bunch that's one inch thick, I used two packs , so that's four mats because there are two mats in each package that come from the dollar tree, once you have everything cut out and you have all the strips, I went ahead and took the smaller ones. first and I'm going to cross them over each other and you can see here I have four and then I put a cup on top and folded the lines up, this is because we're going to knit this. in a basket it's going to look like wood when we're done and it's going to look great and you basically made this for about a dollar so you can see here I put the first little bit of glue on and then I turned one over.
From those sides I'm going to glue it into place and then I'm going to go back and just weave, so I'm going to go in outward inward outward until I get all the way to the beginning of that circle where I started and I'm going to glue it in place and I'm going to cut it out. after I finished the first row, I went ahead and went up, so in the smaller basket I will have four, I think maybe even five. I don't remember, but I think they were aroundIt's four o'clock and I'm going to zigzag up and down until I get to the top and then when I get to the top I'm going to do something special. here I'm going to take those long pieces that I've been weaving back and forth and I'm going to fold one down, leave the other one up and then fold the next one down, leave that one up, fold the next one down and that's because We're going to come back with a stapler. and we're going to staple right in that part to make sure we lock everything in and it won't fall apart and a regular stapler goes through it very easily, so you're going to take your scissors and cut off the extra ones.
I took mine outside and gave it a nice coat of tan spray paint. Now you can see here in the largest. I have two inch strips and I just did three rows and then I go in with a bunch of different paint colors and I just add them until I get the desired look that I want and then I'll take some of this white nautical rope and I'll wrap it around the part top and you are ready to use them for display. and organize things for this DIY, we are going to use a bunch of these dollar tree stacking blocks, this is how I store them in my craft room.
In fact, I just throw them all into this bucket and then use them whenever I need them, so we're going to glue a bunch of them together to turn them into a beautiful lantern that you can use in your house and I want you to see again how not It takes a lot to make something beautiful now. These type of landers, the one we're going to make today, are very expensive at places like Pottery Barn and other online stores and I just wanted you to see that with a little imagination you can make some really cool things, so I have these two six long lines and then I have the three that are shorter and that will be the bottom and the top and you'll see I'm just going to add this glue and then once I have If you have them nice and straight, you want to make sure that everything be as straight as possible when you glue them together and then you will create this frame, so we will do this four times and once you have them all. four of them ready, so I'm going to grab these giant popsicle sticks or tongue depressor sticks from Walmart, that's where I pick mine up and I'm going to cut three lengths to fit them, but you don't want to go all the way to the edges you want to leave a little bit of edge so we can put the sides of this lantern together so you can see I have a edge on each one that will allow me to glue them together. larger sticks and then still be able to put the sides of the lanterns together so they fit nicely in there and then I have two shorter ones that I'll go back in and because the sticks aren't long enough to encompass all of the That way I'm just hiding and hiding that by making them a little bit shorter in the back, then I'm going to go in with my staple gun, add some hot glue and now I can start to bring the sides in so you can see here, this is why I didn't go all the way to the edge with these larger tongue depressor sticks so the frame of these flashlights can go together and then I'm basically sandwiching two of the sides and just holding it all in place nice and tight so it dries nice and straight and then I go in with my staple gun and staple it all together, you're thinking oh the staples won't look as good that's true but I'm planning on painting this so that's one of the things you won't even notice if you plan on staining it I would say that you will.
Note that, so I'm not sure how to avoid it if you plan on staining it, but if you plan on painting it, you really won't even be able to see them once it's all painted, then I chose the bottom. More sticks staple them into place, so here I am. I already have it out with this nice taupe color and I'm coming back with some white. I come back with a grayish brown and I am distraught. To make it look very coastal

farmhouse

, I don't like to do too coastal for my house. I really like the traditional farmhouse style more, but I think the neutrality of this is really nice and then I'm going to add some of this. white nautical rope and then to make sure it's nice and secure, I'm going to take some of this twine and wrap it around a few times to create that really nice texture on the ropes between the two different ones and then I tied a simple loop knot added a little glue and cut the rest for this DIY.
I'm going to use two of these garden fences and then four packages of these long finger sticks and there are three in each package. Now I'm going to start cutting. The first, right where the handle is, the neck part of the handle, where it goes to the straight part of the club. I don't want that piece to be curved and then once I have the first cut, I'm off. I go back in and I'm marking that same length on another seven of these long painter's sticks, then I'm going to line it up on one of these fence bumps with one of the others.
This will be the width of this frame that we are building and you can see here that we are going to build four frames, so each frame will have two very long and two very short and we are not going to worry about cutting any pieces. together, that is, where we cut at an angle and join those two angles. I thought it would be too complicated, too much work, so I'm just going to add this shorter piece to the top and bottom to create the frame with some hot glue and then I go back in with my staple gun and make two staples at each joint .
At this point I have all four frames built, they have long rectangular shapes and now I'm going to go in. with these mini hinges that I bought at my local home improvement store and I'm just marking where I want them to be and then I'm going to drill and this is one of the other reasons why it was good that I did it I didn't miter them because it gave me a thicker joint to be able to put these hinges on, so here I am, I'm just drilling those holes and then I'll come back. I actually ended up finding a drill bit that was big enough that I could put them on and be able to screw in these little screws and then I went ahead and just screwed them into place so now I can open it and close it, this will end up turning out like this. cute, I ended up having to take a two second break because Miriam asked me for some fairy dust and I was sure I could make you some fairy dust, so I'm just mixing two different ones because she asked for some pinkie. red colors and you'll see in just a second that she picked it up and took it now that I have frames one and two together, I'll show you what's really important, this is probably the most crucial point.
Of this entire project at this point I have one upside down and one upside down and that is so we can zigzag back and forth and that if you place the hinges exactly the same way you won't be able to do that, it will just create a more circular shape and then on that last one you'll be able to see that one is up, one is down, one is up for the hinges and now it's going to Let me be able to open this up like this, now I'm ready to move on to my garden fence.
I'm cutting those tabs on the side and then right at the midpoint between the bumps of the scallop, the top part I'm cutting off. I went up and now I'm cutting the leg off, so they're too long to be able to put two on my frame, so I ended up cutting the bottom off a little bit more on one where this little scroll went in. and then on the other one I just had to cut the part that goes into the scrolls so you can see here, one is a little bit shorter and the other one is a little bit longer and I'm just lining them up with my staple gun.
I'm going to staple it all into place now. I will warn you that this part can crack and small pieces can come off and fly around the room, so be sure to wear protective glasses and then glue anything on. where there might be a crack to make sure it's nice and strong, so I took it outside, decided to use a nice moss green color and I'm going to sand it again and distress it, but honestly, you can paint it any color you want. and once you're done, you're ready to display it in your home, really cute for your decor.
If you're enjoying the content here on my Heidi Sambal DIY channel. In fact, I have three other channels that I post on weekly. It's my Heidi. Cheers, my Heidi sample house and then my new Heidi Sambol paper craft. I'll link them below in my description box so you can check them all out and subscribe to the ones you might be interested in for this DIY. I'm going to show you how to make a really simple wreath with just these flower stems. Now I know a lot of times we always go and pick up the wreath shapes, but you really don't even need them when you have these wire flowers. because you can actually build the structure out of that, so I'm just cutting some really long pieces off of these remnants of greenery, and I picked up all the flowers and put two together and I'm not going to make them exactly perfect.
Same length, I make one a little bit longer and then I slide the other one down and twist them to continue making a very long line and then I continue adding another one of those joins. You just keep twisting them around each other, twisting them together and when I get to the length I want, I spin it in a circle and all that green I start weaving it in and I really make it as tight as I can. I possibly can, at this point you can see I made a wreath and it cost me about a dollar right now and now I just come in with a bunch of random flowers that I've had here in my craft room forever.
I know we all have a lot of these left over from previous projects and I'm really weaving all the things together to make it look really nice and tight in that circular wreath shape. Now I really wanted to go with a green and white. Look, because I'm getting ready to start decorating my house for a certain season and I really love that clean, green farmhouse look, so now at this point I'm adding some flowers and some little berries, and in this The bow stitch was the last finishing touch for this DIY. We're going to use two of these round pizza pans and then some dollar tree twine.
Now this is like the crocodile, but it's called a big bite. It is the larger version because now you can push things further in and get a greater reach where you want to drill a hole. If you've been here a while, you know the crop-a-dile is like my favorite tool, it cuts through plastic, wood, and metal. and it's because it has this serrated tip at the end when you punch it, it's not like a traditional hole, so you can see here I went ahead and created three holes in each mold and it looks a little crooked, but give it a second.
I promise it will all come together. I took them outside. I spray painted them with two coats of white paint and now I'm going to take the brown rope. I decided to change my plan. I didn't use the white rope because I spray painted. the pans are white and I'm going to cut them all I have two ropes and I'm going to cut them in half so I have four long ropes and you can see here I'm tying a knot I slid it through the holes in my pans and then I came down the side top and I tied another knot and that's because we're going to make a hanging tray that's going to look really cute for the summer so I'm going to go ahead and use a ruler and mark 12 inches and then I'm going to make sure I tie my knot right on that marker so the trays are nice and level and not moving one way versus the other and then go ahead and tie it nice and tight and repeat that on all three ropes once you have that knot go ahead and slide it through the next holes on the next layup, bring it in and this is real speed right here, you can see you know.
Sometimes it gets stuck and you just have to keep working with it until you get it all the way through but once I got it all the way through I went ahead and then I tied my next knot right at the top and when you tie it these knots are fine and near the tray, those holes that you originally made are completely gone, you can't even see them anymore, so now at this point I'm just tying my last few knots and then I would say this is probably the hardest part of all of this. , you want to make sure you hold the tray up and make sure it's all level so you can find the top knot where you need to tie it.
When you do this, there will be this extra string on the third. We're going to go ahead and cut that off because we don't even need it and then I'm going to take some hot glue to make sure nothing leaks out and we don't have any problems with the rope coming undone. I just added some hot glue, raised the two to the top, and tied my last knot for this DIY. I'm going to grab this big container from my thrift store and you can get them anywhere so I went ahead and sanded it and gave it a nice coat of white paint because we're taking it from a Halloween decor to a farmhouse decor .
Now I have a free printable for all of you today. I went ahead and designed it myself so if you want it head over to my website the link is under my description box so you can go to it and download it for free and then all you're going to do is just cut it out. I recommend putting a little bit of hairspray on it because it seals and sets that ink. From your printer while the paper dries with the spray paint, go ahead and come back with a small paintbrush and some black paint and I'm going to circle this to give it an enamel look.
Now the differencebetween the two paints Acrylic and spray paint are definitely different so make sure you dry them really well and then you'll go over everything with a little bit of modification. Now I'm also going to grab my label, my sign that I made earlier. free printable and I'm going to correct that. It will look as sophisticated as a bucket you just had lying around your house or one from the dollar tree and is very beautiful for displaying blankets or towels. whatever you want inside somewhere in your house to store beautiful things for this project. We are going to use five of these signs.
They were so popular when they first came out that I could barely get my hands on them and now I have them. I've been able to find them a little bit more for different themes and different seasons so we're going to start with two on the bottom and two on the side because we're going to turn this into a tape holder organizer when I saw them and knew right away I could turn them into that because the height of them is perfect to get four rows of ribbons, so here I am, I'm just drilling my holes because I want to warn you that these chip

pretty

easily and I was trying to think of a word to say how easily they chip , so what I did was drill the holes and then I made sure it wasn't too wide a drill so I could get the screw in there without causing anything to splinter and then I also added some hot glue in the holes where the screw went. screw so everything stays together very well and very strong, so here I am, I'm adding in the top bar, this is the top bar that's going to go on the base and you'll see me put it all together in just a second, where I just added a little hot glue in the holes and at the joint and I'm screwing it the rest of the way. and that kept it from chipping or cracking or any of that stuff, so now here I am, I go down and add a little more of that glue.
I'm putting it all together, this will be the base. You can see my holes are pre-drilled here. I had my son help me hold the other side and then once he had it all together, he becomes the best tape organizer and it actually only cost us five dollars and fifty cents, you'll see. what I use in just a minute for the actual rows, so here they are, are the long skewer sticks. I've heard them called so many different things. More sticks. I bought them over the summer and have kept them. for so long, so what I'm using is a drill that is wide enough that I can get these sticks through and they do a very good job holding the tape.
I didn't have any problems, but if you want to find it. something that's sturdier than these, you could do that too, but I went ahead, drilled my holes, slid those sticks in to make sure they fit and then took it outside and spray painted it a beautiful tan color and now I'm just going to slide all of them in. those tapes, put them all in place and you can see here that it contains quite a bit of tape. Now it's pretty funny, you can see I forgot to spray paint the bottom, so excuse that part, but have fun with this. one, it is a great organizer for this DIY.
We're going to make a paint organizing tray, so I'm going to grab three of these signs because they have paint that fits perfectly on them, these little pieces right here where you can hang them. They come out very easy and then we are going to glue the bottom two together. Now I'm going to use a little bit of e6000 and a little bit of hot glue, like I love to do here on my channel and then once I have all my glue in place, I'm going to sandwich them together and squish them as hard as I can and I'm going to putting my clips back in just to make sure everything is holding because I've noticed that the sides want to pull on a little bit so these clips really made them stay together nicely, then I'm going to take two normal size paint stirrer sticks and stick them on the side and then I'll make sure there are no problems with them.
On the way out, I'm just going to take my staple gun and put the appropriate size staple through it, then I'm going to get some more glue and glue on my next box the correct height that it's going to sit at. I need to be able to allow the paints to come and go without having any problems and glue them into place on the top for the handle. It's very simple. I'm going to take three of these painter's sticks and I'm going to flip them over. back and forth in different directions so that this little indentation on the handle part isn't all on one side, so I did the first one and went the other direction and then the third one goes the other original direction back to the left and then I'm going to pick it up at the top, glue it down, and glue three of them together that way it's going to give you a big enough grip for the staple to go in, so I went ahead and stapled two staples together. in a back and forth cross and add your paint for this DIY.
I'm going to use three of these signs and then four of these canvases. Now first I removed the fabric, the canvas that was on top and then I'll show you that you can remove the staples. but it was so much work to take them off that I decided to leave them on, I sanded all the gloss off the signs so it would be a nice smooth surface and then I'm going to start building this three tier shelf so I started by adding that first one and then I'll add the next one and you can see that the canvases and the frames are not exactly the same size so you can see that I have a little bit of space there which is fine it will look so cute in the end and then I stapled everything in place so I glued it down first, then I stapled it and then on the next one here to make sure it's nice and balanced.
I'm going to bring that frame back, the wooden frame, I'm going to pull it towards the edge and you can see here that one is a little bit forward at the bottom, the other one is pulled more towards the edge at the top and I'm going to to show it right here so you can see that they're not exactly the same because I wanted it to look like that on purpose and now I'm going to go back and staple. all together now this is where it will become such a cute farm project. I'm going to take these long sticks and just add a little bit of glue and then cross it on the inside.
There I made one on the inside and then one on the outside because otherwise the sticks will look weird and you'll have to cut them once I'm done, you can paint it any color you want, it's actually very sturdy and can withstand a lot of things. of weight because you stabilized it and glued it all together, it was garbage day in my neighborhood and my lovely neighbor decided to create and DIY her own shutters and she took off the original shutters that were this cute mint color and I went and picked them up . I told him I had an idea for them.
I'm planning on giving it back to her when I'm done because she loves farms like I do, so I'm just marking on this shutter where I want my holes to be and then I'm going to take these adorable gold baskets that we all love from the dollar tree and I'm just going to tie them together. directly to him. I thought the mint with the gold and black looked so pretty. and it's a really fun thing to be able to use whatever she decides to put inside it for decoration. I just wanted her to see, you know, that she was making some new shutters.
I thought, why not try to show him that aspect that you still can? use them and I keep joking with her, she has to start her own youtube channel because she is very crafty with her power tools every time I walk by so once I have my five trays or my five baskets attached, I'm I'll take these tacks from the dollar tree and I'm just going to use a little bit of e6000 to hold them in place so they don't come off and then I'm going to take a Sharpie marker and color them black and then I'm going to use the cute i.
I love these stickers whenever they were in stock, I always pick them up somewhere and just go write the market on them. I thought they would be so adorable and then I modified them so they stay in place if you are enjoying this video please like it it means a lot to me and if you like long videos I have many mega video compilation videos in one list playback, I'll link them below in my description box and at the End of this video so you can check out any of those other videos I've made over the past holidays and seasons.
Now I know I'm not the only one who sees a lot of these types of signs at their thrift store. I have this. half off and I'm going to make it into something really cool and functional for organizing things in your craft room in your kitchen, wherever you want to put it. I took it outside after removing the metal hardware on the back and spray painting it. a tan color and then I'm going to grab some of these dollar tree baskets. I'm going to create some hole marks where I know I want to drill for both baskets and I'm going to have four for each basket that way, so once I'm done drilling my holes, I can come back with some zip ties and attach them very easily to this one. board.
I love doing organization

crafts

like this because seriously, it costs me almost nothing if you try. buy something like this in the store, if they really are that expensive, it doesn't have to cost a lot to have a beautiful functional house, it just takes a couple of dollars and some imagination and being willing to do these projects, so once you have it all tied up with a zip. I came back with some of these metal tags I found on Amazon. I'll link them below. I think these are great and I'm going to zip them up and then To finish the look and give it a little bit of that farmhouse feel, I'm going to dry brush some white paint and hang it with my metal on the back to display things u organize things in my house.
This next craft is so Quick, don't blink because you'll miss it, we're going to take three of these napkin rings, we're going to take some e6000 and some hot glue and then we're going to glue them all together. Now this is really simple. down and the other two are up and we're just sandwiching the sides next to each other. This is great for mail, paper cutters, craft supplies, anything you have that gets messy and falls all over the place. A Quick Three Dollar Fix Once it's all glued up, spray paint it whatever color you want and you're ready to get organized.
This container has so much potential it's just outdated and whoever got rid of this I thought oh what a missed opportunity! Since they are so expensive, I took it outside and gave it a nice taupe spray paint color as a base to start and then I'll come back with some white paint and apply them with a dry brush. with white paint all over to highlight that texture and lighten it a little. I really love dry brushing with different colors, not just brown, I love incorporating whites, blues or greens and it really transforms the item you are wearing.
I'm working so you can see here at this point I'm going through all these little boxes and I went through all the initial big tall container that the boxes go in and then once it was all dry I went ahead and grabbed some hardware. These cute labels I screwed on the front and I thought how cute it would be if I numbered them, so I'm adding some cardstock that fits inside, I'm gluing it in place so it stays there and then I was just going to come with some of these stickers . They actually had them at the dollar target place, so I picked up some of these.
They were in the wedding section for this season, but you can use any dollar tree decals, whatever you have. hand and then I just added one and two and now I'm going to go back to the bottom with some stacking blocks to add some height to it and add a wooden element to it and then I glued it and stapled it into place, now it's good. enough this staple gun that I fit perfectly inside so that I can retrieve them once stapled once everything was ready, it is ready to be used somewhere in your house for this idea now I will say that Bethany is definitely the queen of these particular containers I wanted to make my own version of them, but I'll definitely link below one of Bethany's projects that she's done with these boxes, but I had the idea of doing a more bohemian style, bohemian farmhouse style.
I don't do it too often. here on my channel but from time to time I like to do it and I particularly wanted to do this for my son Calvin because he has some crafts that he wanted to organize so I wanted to go with the black and wood which I knew he would be really attracted to and quite fun. In fact, he came into my craft room and said this is great. Can I have this for my craft space? When I actually did it for him, it was a lot of fun, so here I am.
I'm just measuring with a foam core and a ruler on the inside of the box because we want to be able to create a back that is technically the bottom of the box and then the side, so it will sit on the side like this. and we need to be able to make sure that we have these pieces that can fit inside them correctly so that you can notice that one is a little bit bigger than the other. The back of the box will be a larger piece andI'm going to grab this wooden contact paper that you can get from the dollar tree and there are four of these as well. two different sizes so I'm just going to wrap it around to make sure all my edges are nice and tight and clean and attractive and then I finished up gluing it on with a little bit of hot glue and a little bit of e6000.
Do not finish. showing that part, but I thought everyone would know to glue it however they want so they don't come off now. At this point, I'm adding the zip ties where I'm putting the four containers together and This is where Bethany has a huge, cool one that she made again. I'll link it below so you can see it and then at the top I wanted to create a nice sturdy place so I can display things on the top because she's always working on all kinds of cute crafts in her own craft space and I'm just going to use a craft knife to score it a couple of times, it breaks very easily and then I'm going to clean it all up. edges just like I'm doing here, sometimes I like to bring my scissors because sometimes it's a lot easier than using the craft knife where I can.
Now I'm creating two holes on each of these sides because we want to be able to zip tie this to the top of this container so that that way it's a shelf that's not going to blow away now, this is another way to crop-a- Tell him, it's much bigger and stinks as cool as it is easy to use, it's all-encompassing and gives you much greater reach. I'll link this tool below. It's incredibly cool. If you love crop-a-dile, you'll love it because it's the twin sister to it and it's just a little bit bigger for bigger things, so here I am, I'm wearing my zip ties.
I'm going to go through them first and then put them on my contact paper because this will hide where they are. the little flanges are on the top, we don't want to see them on the top of our shelf, our container storage unit, we want to be able to hide them so you can see here I have the ones sticking out, I cut that contact paper to the size I needed, I'm tightening it up nice and tightening around it and cutting off the excess that I don't need and then once you have all that in place, you're going to go ahead and take it.
Go back to your container and then you're just going to tie it right on top. This has created the best piece of organization again. Go see Bethany. She is the bomb. I love how she makes hers too, but I just wanted this for my little one. Guy Calvin and then to make it more masculine I added some rope, I think this is the part he really thought was cool, I added a bit of rope where all the handles come together and then glued it all in place. and was ready to be displayed and used in your home.
This DIY is super simple. I find baskets like this all the time at my thrift stores and they are honestly one of my favorite things to buy now, I always get things for half price. On days when there are half off sales, I will start by removing these handles from my buckets and then take them outside and spray paint them this beautiful blue color. I thought of this color. It was so pretty, I love how it looks against the white, so now I'm going to repaint with some white paint that's acrylic with my brush and I'm just going to go around the edge and then I'm going to add a little bit. distressing, in that way it has a very summery feeling.
I love how this looks with the distressing and you can see I'm going in with a grayish brown color and really distressing the areas where it would get a lot. of wear and tear and I think this really adds a lot of personality to the cube when you do this now I go in and dry brush it, but then I take a paper towel and really give it a scrub. inside and helped it soak into the bucket, then lastly I just put the handles back on and will use it to display towels in my bathroom. This DIY is super simple, we're going to grab a bamboo cutting board, some of these screw hooks. and then one of these little yard tag signs that I use a lot here on my channel.
I buy them in bulk whenever I can find them because I love them so much that I'm going to take that stick off and remove everything that's left and then add a bunch of glue to stick it right on top of my sign once I get it right centered and stuck there nicely, I went ahead and used my ruler to lay out the spacing I would need. Able to create my hooks to drill them perfectly spaced, so here I am. I'm just using my ruler and a pencil to create my drill lines and once I had everything located, I was now able to go in with my drill and create those holes.
I highly recommend drilling the holes first because if you don't try to get these little screws in it can be very difficult, so drilling the holes allows you to have the space you need to be able to get those hooks in there without them having any issues, so here I am, I'm going to Go ahead and drill these six holes and we're going to turn this into a keychain, which I thought would be cool and it's really cute to just hang it by the front door so you can hang your keys when you get home so you don't lose them.
I lose my keys all the time, like all of you, and it drives me crazy, so I thought, hey, I should do something like this where I can just hang them up. up and then I stop having this bad habit of leaving them wherever I recommend using a pair of pliers when you get to the screwing part, it makes it a lot easier and then to finish off the look I'm going to move on. and grab some white paint and I'm going to go ahead and paint the key word now, well actually keys because there's an s, but you can use vinyl for this or stickers, whatever you have on hand, I just like to hand paint because I save a ton of money doing it this way and it's very quick so once I have it on I'll add some twine to the back so I can hang it and then it'll be ready to display and use to organize your keys so you stop losing them.
This next DIY will use rope, a wire trash can, and one of these lids that you can place on top of the oven. Start by taking the trash can and some wire cutters and cut all the keys. along the same line on those wires until it can come off cleanly once you remove it, you can go ahead and start working with that mesh wire by stretching it and shaping it into a dome, let's make a wire. bell jar that looks so luxurious, they sell for a lot online in antique stores. I love a few different antique stores and I saw a few of these and thought, "Oh, there's no way I'm going to pay eighty dollars for one of those when I can do it for about three to five dollars, so here we are.
I got it." all molded, pushed in, nice and flattened the way I want and then I'll bring in some wire and some sort of thread. I ran it through to make sure the wire stayed in place and then I tied it with a knot. Now I wanted to start again from something I saw as inspiration at one of my favorite online farm stores and I'm going to take my big bite, this is the larger version of my crop-a-dile. I'll link it below if you're interested. This is cool because allows me to go deeper into certain spots.
I went ahead and cut a hole in the lid. The lid of the glass jar I had on hand was left over from another DIY. I glued the wooden knob to the top with some e6000 and hot glue , I put everything in place and then added a couple more holes from my harvest, a dial so I could zip it up to the top of my hood and then take it outside to spray paint it. Now I'm going to go to that pan that I showed earlier that had the rooster in it. It took me about three strings to be able to loop all of this, I didn't do the bottom, I just looped the tops where you would see it and once I finished adding some string to the top of that handle it was ready to be displayed, If you haven't heard, I've launched a new website where I'll be posting all my free printables on there and all kinds of inspiration from my health journey to my home renovations and DIYs that I share here on my channel.
Link that website below so you can go check it out. It's a really fun place to go and visit and it makes it really easy for you to be able to pin the projects I'm doing here on YouTube to Pinterest when you go. There you will see that when you hover over an image, a pin button will appear that you can pin on Pinterest. I hope you enjoy the website and find it a fun place to visit for this DIY of yours. These are everywhere on the dollar tree. I find them all the time throughout the year and ended up having a couple of these on hand that I thought would be cool to show everyone something fun and pretty to do with them.
I decided to take them all outside and spray paint them white to start and then I'm going to go in with some burlap because I really like burlap. You can use any fabric you want honestly and then I just go. To wrap this up and tighten it as tightly as possible and press it down to smooth it out making sure it's nice and clean and I put it on the bottom and around the sides. Now you'll notice I didn't get to the end. the top because you need to be able to make sure you leave enough room for the lid to fit back into place.
Then I ended up taking some of those larger tongue depressors and glued a couple of them together and poked some holes in them. because on one of the boxes I'm planning on using a knob and I want to make sure the screw can fit in there and I needed a little extra space. I could have used washers, but I decided to do this. because this is what was in my craft room and then I just snapped everything into place and then once I had it I moved on to the next part which was being able to decorate another box with the other part of my printable that I will have . linked below in the description box and like I said it will take you to my website where you can download it for free, so I went and cut it out with my paper cutter, wrapped it around the box, now you can see that each box is a little different.
One of them has it around the base of the bottom of the box. One has a knob. One is receiving a burlap ribbon. I had a lot of fun doing different things with these boxes because I think that's it. which makes them so cute and eclectic and then I added this dollar tree plaid ribbon and then a bow. I always love putting bows on things. It's kind of I don't know what it is about bows, but I really love them both, so I went ahead and added a little more to the one above. I decided to flip it twice down and then up and I really felt like it just added a little bit more personality to this particular one and then another thing that I love about the Dollar Tree are these garden labels.
I know I use them a lot. Leave a comment below to let me know if you love them as much as I do. I think I might be the only one but I went ahead and glued them together and then got a little distressed, you can skip this part if it's not for you but I really love that worn farmhouse look. This DIY is super easy to make, don't blink you'll miss it, so I'm going to grab these four supplies from the dollar tree they have out during the spring garden season. I'm putting the mesh liner inside the basket and then I'm going to take this 3D wreath and I'm going to open it up and tie it all the way to the bottom. the crosses that line up now I saw this at one of my local garden stores and it was very expensive and when I saw it I knew right away that I had all of these dollar tree supplies in my craft room so I wanted to make and show everyone that you don't have to pay 40 for this so far, I've only paid about three dollars and fifty cents, so at this point I'm just taking apart the chain that was in the original basket and I'm just going to use one of those wire hooks.
I'm going to clip it on top and then you'll be ready to take outside with your beautiful plants for this DIY. We're going to use this free printable I designed for all of you so we can have and use this can of food, a foam square, and these lavender flowers. Now this is a great DIY to try if you're a new crafter, it's really easy and a lot of these things you'll probably already do. I have on hand, so I'm going to take some burlap and I'm going to cut it up to wrap around my can and if you noticed before, I already put that foam square cut to size and glued inside the can once I have that fabric Very tight.
I'm going to take this printable and cut it out now. This printable will be linked in my description box, which will take you to my new website, which you can download for free and then. Once I've cut it all out, I'm going to go ahead and glue it right on the front of the can and then go in with my lavender flowers. Now I always like to cut them from there. handle the stem having them all grouped together because it gives them so much more life once you have everything in the shape you like it is ready to display on a shelf somewhere in your house now this DIY can be considered a little more complicated because you have to follow the holes where to drill things, but honestly, friends, it's so easy to do and all we're doing is using my crop-a-tell tool, seven of these art canvases you can get from the tree of the dollar a little adhesive paper to peel offand glue and zip ties now that it'sI'm going to start using the trim.
I'll link the tool below. It is one of my favorites. I use it all the time. We are going to punch a hole in each corner of five of these canvases. Now you obviously want to. To try to hit them all in the same places so you can measure it, there is actually a little measuring gauge on the side of the crocodile that lets you know where to hit. I love that feature and I'm going to use the smaller hole instead of the larger one because we want the zip ties to be really snug and tight when we put them through and you'll see me get to that part now on two of them we're going to go ahead and drill. some extra holes now just showing me making a hole, but I actually come back a little bit later, you'll see where I add an extra hole in the middle because we're going to use it to be able to thread. and come back for a cleaner look instead of having the flange hanging messily over the side, you'll see that in a minute, but here I am, I'm just adding the flanges to four of those and what I'm doing is having the ones that they have extra holes that are the side of this organizer box that we are building and the ones that have just the four in the corners that are the top and bottom, so it will have the one that you I can see here that is the base that is on my table , which is the bottom and the extra holes are on the sides because this is where the shelf will come in now, at this point you can see I added that extra hole there. because I realized that I just didn't want it to look weird around the side of the box, so here I am, squeezing it nice and tight and through it you can see that I'm threading it and coming back. and that's going to create a really clean store look.
Now these cube organizers are super expensive, too much money and when I realized I could use these art canvases I thought, hey, I wonder if I would like to build a cube storage space with this and I'll say it's very sturdy, it works very okay, but the only thing I wish they had done is the tray in the middle and that divider shelf. I wish I had made two canvases so I added one more canvas to this project that way the shelf was really strong and I would have glued them both together so that shelf in the middle was really strong but other than that it's one piece very sturdy and could put tons of stuff to organize now, you can see here, I finished zip tying. around the sides and the shelf in the middle and now what I'm doing is going around the back, so I'm going to go ahead and add those holes again, one in each corner, but we want to make sure the back is completely covered, so one of the canvases is missing about four inches of space at the top or bottom however I place it so I decided to take two canvases, this is where canvases number six and seven come in and I decided to drill two holes so I can join them together to make it longer and more extended.
If you can find a canvas that is longer you could even use a foam cord board back there, you could do that too, but I decided to just take a number six and a number seven canvas and then attached them all together now you can see here that it I'm adding on the side that I went in and out and I'm going to go back and I'm just going to tie everything together so everything is nice and snug on the back so there won't be any problems and I'm using my pliers for those really tough parts where you know which doesn't want to pull because I wanted the holes to be smaller instead of the bigger hole I want the whole thing to be. nice and snug, I'm snapping everything into place and then once I have it all there you can see there's a top support flange and then there's the two that are in the middle, when I turn it over you'll see that In There are actually four on each of those sides because I wanted to make sure everything was nice and safe.
This is probably the trickiest part of this whole project, but honestly it's just making sure the back is nice and secure, so here you can see. I have the four areas and I'm just going ahead and adding this last one on top and I'm really slowing this down so everyone can see it so they don't get confused in this part, but I mean, could you just imagine that there are so many cool things that you could do with these canvases knowing that you can turn them into boxes and organize things so you can see here that everything is nice and comfortable and then these little faceted parts are towards the back, you want to make sure that they are towards the back because in the next part we will use adhesive paper and we will wrap it.
Here is my cube completely made, with all the zippers attached. The total cost to do it was about nine dollars and again I don't do it. I didn't even think it was that, but you know, I'm just going to say nine dollars to round up. Now I'm taking the contact paper and I'm going to wrap it all around. You don't have to do this part. I thought this. It would be nice to add it and give it a nice look so it doesn't look like it's just a bunch of canvases put together and then all you're going to do is just cut it to size and then just smooth it all out and once you have it all smoothed out inside , I went ahead and just folded that part and then you can use this for any type of storage you can imagine.
I think they are great. affordable and much better price than the really expensive ones that are honestly made of very similar materials. Will this DIY use this really colorful box? Now my daughter thought this was the cutest thing ever, but those aren't really the colors I do here at my house, so she wanted to give it a farmhouse makeover. Now you can see that someone was struggling to remove that sticker and using a heat gun it comes off so easily. I'm going to go ahead and sand it all down and then I took it outside to spray paint it a taupe color and now I'm going to come back with some neutral browns, white and gray and I'm going to give it a wood look just by dry brushing different colors of brown and gray.
I keep playing with it until it looks like I like and heat dry it as I go so it doesn't get too clumpy and again we dry brush it which means don't put too much paint on your brush and then come back with different coats . Now I have pre-marked some holes and I thought it would be really cute to add a little handle to the top of this and I'm planning on using it for storage. remote controls in my living room. I love hiding remote controls. I don't like seeing them lying around the house so I love small containers like this one and it's really long so it fits all of our controllers at once.
I had all the holes drilled, I went ahead and added the screws, made sure they were tight and I'll link any hardware you see me using down here in my description box so you can check them out. It just arrived from Amazon and once it's all set up, you'll be ready to use it to organize things in your house for this craft. I'm dying to share this with you all because I'm going to make a flower tower now yes I've been watching my craft room and me redoing it you know I have something really huge that I bought in my craft room it's big I don't even know how call it a wire shelf organizer and we're I'm going to build one and show you how to do it really affordably.
I'm going to take three of these mop sticks, I'm going to take the stickers off and then I'm going to take these cooling racks and I need nine of them because We're going to zip tie all of this together, now you can always finish up by cutting with some wire cutters into the cooling racks, but I wanted mine to be really well done, so I'm going to take my Dremel tool and I'm just cutting away. that bar to the length I need and then when I'm done cutting it, I go ahead and add the cap back on.
Now I know that some of you are probably looking at this and thinking that there is no way I feel comfortable using it. That tool actually has this great feature where you can turn it on and off, just make sure the sparks aren't directed at you, so I'm holding the pole in front of me, as you can see here, and the blue button is where you turn it on and off. and there is a speed so you can go as fast or slow as you want. I'm obviously going very slow because I'm still getting used to it and I also wear some safety glasses when I'm using it just to make sure I'm being as wise and safe as possible with it.
I love this tool. It does some interesting things that I've always had trouble with in my craft room, as you can see here I'm punching through metal studs. which is incredibly cool, but again, if you're not comfortable using it, I definitely recommend skipping that part, like I told you, you don't have to cut these poles, you might end up taking another cooling rack and maybe layering on them. one on top of the other instead of using nine cooling racks maybe you increased it up to 12 cooling racks you could do that too so once I finished cutting it I went ahead and added the handles back on top of the mop pole and I'm I'm just going to push everything back into place and you can see here that now they've all been cut and I'm going to save these poles as additional pieces for another project and you can see here that the cooling racks fit perfectly now.
I'm so sorry, I tried to focus this like eight different times and I just didn't want to, I was being very stubborn, so I'm going to take my cooling racks and I'm just creating a marked line and I'm going to get my drill and I'm going to drill some holes now again. If you don't feel comfortable doing this part, I bet there's probably someone in your life, maybe a husband or a child, or I don't know someone. who uses drills and is comfortable with them, go ahead, but I definitely love using power tools because I feel like you can do a lot of interesting things with them, so here I am, I'm just drilling a hole where I need each flange to hit. and then with the cooling racks, I'm just overlapping them a little bit to make sure that when I go to tie them all together, it doesn't get loose at the connection of the parts where they join together. together we want everyone to be nice and safe on the actual poles so you can see here I have cooling racks and then pole cooling racks and then pole cooling racks and then one more pull and I'm going to put it all together in one big triangle.
This part is great because you will see the inspiration at the end. I show what the one in my craft room looks like. I use it to organize all my flowers for years. I put them all inside large containers and they took up a lot of space in my craft room. I have a lot of craft supplies with me doing youtube here and sharing all my crafts and I felt like I had six bins dedicated solely to flowers from all the different seasons so when I realized I could make this item bigger and put all my flowers in there , why not do that and then leave all my flowers on display and I can pull them out when I need them in a certain color?
So here you can see, at this point I've put all the sides together, I'm tying up the last piece and I'm just cutting those little pieces off and it's ready to display with your flowers, the dollar tree started carrying these. Beautiful glass jars. I love the pattern and texture of them. Now it's pretty fun. You'll see me working with three here after I finished painting all three of them white. I gave them a nice coat of white paint. One of them fell. off my table and smashed all over the floor. I was really sad because I wanted to do something different with this than what I ended up with, but either way I just wanted everyone to see that when they paint it and then sand the paint.
The raised surface gives them the most beautiful look, they look like milk glasses and are perfect for farmhouse decor and you can honestly organize whatever you want inside them. They are so beautiful and I spray painted the lids black like Well, for this DIY I'm going to use this obsolete container that I found at my local thrift store and then I'm also going to use this printable that I designed and it's free for all of you today. The link is below. in my description box, once I painted my containers the color I wanted, which was this really pretty green color, I'm going to go ahead and cut out my labels and spray them lightly with some hairspray to set the ink ink.
Now I'm going to take my Sharpie marker and I'm going to make some vertical lines around both lids and then I'm going to go back with my ruler and I'm going to make a horizontal line on the smaller one and on the larger one I'm going to make two so they're both the same size square. of consistency on both lids, although one has a row of three check boxes and the other only has two, so I'm going to go in with my black paint and my brush and I'm just going to go around the edges and paint all those squares creating that pattern of pictures and once everything was really dry I returned with my sanding block. from the dollar tree and simply roughed it out in placeswhere I wanted it because I wanted it to have that vintage farmhouse look and now I'm going to take my podge mod and I'm going to go around the entire bucket and then I'm going to stamp those labels as well.
Now I'm going to go into my collection of my little brads that I have. I love Brad's. I'm also a paper crafter so I have them all organized the way I like them and I'm just going to punch a few holes so I can add some to this container. I loved the raised metal look on these. I thought it added a really nice detail and made it look like it had screws or bolts or eyelets that you would see on some farmhouse furniture. Now I'm going to go in after I've created my holes and I'm going to use these removable drawer handles for the lids and I thought they all looked so cute together.
I opened the back and sealed them all with glue. You made it to the end. I hope you felt inspired by this video today.
