2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST Z71 - Ultimate In-Depth Look in 4KJan 16, 2022
Hi, I'm Mike, thank you very much for choosing this video. I'm in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina today visiting Judd Kuhn Chevrolet and I'm reviewing the
2019Chevrolet Silverado in the first trim level. Now this is a four wheel drive truck crew. Cabin also has these Z71 off-road and protection package to show off, so let's go ahead and take a
look. it also has four wheel disc brakes with four wheel vented rotors the name of this color is northern sky blue metallic very awesome color so the sun is shining now so we can hopefully see what it
looks like its a plus dark just a really i dont explain it just looks fantastic they did a really good job
chevroletdid with the trim ok so looking at the front here you notice it has the body color part in the center around the emblem that spreads out very impressively.
In the end you have some functional vents here going into the wheel well parking sensors on the front tow hooks hidden in the black part at the bottom and all the black on the front is matte not glossy now the fog lights and the headlights are LED powered the fog lights are in a small focused beam here and the headlights are in a reflector housing and the bezel is a very awesome simulated carbon fiber look so that's three reflectors for your low beams and tall and your turn signal is a stock ball but it also has that simulated carbon fiber texture on the bezel and the headlight area is upgraded with an LED daytime running light which looks fantastic looking at the profile you see it drive our body color and just the design is fantastic. they've got a really strong line here that runs down and here on the bottom and the fenders spread out and you see that's very noticeable there in the back because that slowed down that transition from the top d to the outside of the wheel now the back was the windows are a privacy glass but right here the pillar is matte black but it's textured so it reflects quite a bit of light when the sun shines on it so it kinda takes away from that solid window look Which some vehicles use for the top of the side mirror is a glossy black which is completely different from all other blacks for most of the other black on the vehicle that you see on the top of the side.
Mirror that glows but it also has an LED light that glows and the front of the side mirrors like that, if you're at night, you have to look to the side and look around, the dark area that the headlights are in. it doesn't glow you can turn them on and get a little extra light that's what the key looks like and Chevrolet has done a really good job on the key to the extent that it's just a solid feeling key that's easy to use easy to read and understand. this is basically the same type of key they had in the past but now it's fantastic there's a physical key inside it has lock and unlock buttons the ability to drop the tailgate a remote start and a push button panic, but this key is designed so you can keep it. in your pocket like a proximity key system just keep it in your pocket or a bag and as long as you have it with you you can use the vehicle 100% so come on and push this panic button it will give you some squeaks and then it gives you a longer horn sound and we're going to try this tailgate so we're going to double tap this down a nice smooth drop tailgate and the remote turns on just make sure you push the lock button and then push and hold the remote Home button and it turns on for you and you can press it again, turn it off as long as you have the key with you, it can be in your pocket and in a bag, as long as you're near the outside of this door. you can lock the doors by pressing this button and unlock them so when it's locked press the button again it unlocks it when you're done press it again relaxed makes it very simple you also have a physical location for the key here on the side of the driver it's just ok so the inside of the passenger side door I can see it's mostly like a darker brown color which has that tan wood grain from the armrest here which looks fantastic and that's underlined with an accent of chrome, then it has a satin chrome handle with a bit of contrast stitching on the sides so it's a soft touch. surface here here and here that's all like a light touch and it goes all the way to this area and then you get to the hard touch plastics in this area the handle here to close it is sealed so you can use it for a little pocket and then you have the pockets there on the bottom with bottle holders and everything has a little accent there the sealing plate on the sill looks great manually adjusted cloth seats here on the passenger side and has a light there's a little pattern on the fabric it's like some kind of microfiber felt in parts of the fabric quite far off the floor the seat is and look at the leg room amazing open space a little bit of a decrease part of this is just the mats are not in their place 100% but they're wide open there's a little contrast stitching there and some chrome accents around the vent and the dash is soft here and hard up there there's a compartment here I went and then you've got a Club lockable compartment down here smooth plastic on the inside handles on all four doors including the driver's side to help you get in and out of the vehicle okay first of all looking at the back seat I want point out how wide the door sticks out this helps with getting into the truck as well as some cargo space back here putting boxes or whatever you're going to put in the cargo space which i'll show you that in just a second it also has like a double seal here, look that's double sealed ok so t The interior of the rear door, similar to the front, has the soft touch, the soft touch and then a hard touch. wood grain The pockets at the bottom.
Very similar plastic threshold. One-piece plastic mat. both front seats have a pocket in the back of the seat it's basically a bench seat back here but you can flip it up so you have a charging mode back here and I'll show you that in just a second and this is really nifty the The back of the seat has this little strap, you pull it out and there's a little compartment back here and it's incredibly easy to get to you, you don't want to turn the seat around to have that extra room that just makes a little door in the seat and it's super padded so which isn't like you're sacrificing comfort now these seats have the locking system for car seats there's an armrest and cup holder here in the middle that you can lift up out of the way now the headrests have a button on this right on the ri right side, right side of that headrest right side of this headrest you push it and you can flip the headrest down to give you a little better visibility back here so let's go ahead and lift these seats up just lift it up and it locks in place like this and this is what I was talking about as far as cargo mode so you don't just have this compartment under the seats where you will find your Jack for your spare tire but you can also use this floor as a cargo space while keeping some passenger room so you can lift one off the other and add it to your cargo space while keeping passenger room or you can lift both up and have a wide open space to put in a big box or whatever and that's what you were talking about with the door open and you have access to the back through the back much better now on the back of the console central here you have two usb charging ports vents for your climate control and a 12 volt power supply ar e some lights there they also have hooks here on both sides to the l sides of the truck so some vehicles have them on the back which if you hang your clothes in there it will block the rear glass so this has it here on the sides so that really helps with visibility until they really thought on this truck it's just a well thought out truck when it comes to looks it looks great but also the ease of use and features are ok so when you get to the back of the truck you will see that the rear del at the top rear of the cab has some cargo lights here powered by LEDs in the taillights they are a combination of LEDs and standard bulbs so you have seen how easy it is to lower the tailgate with your key of course you can put it down with this button here you have your backup camera slightly offset and you have an illumination approach light which are led powered to illuminate behind the vehicle for example if you unlock the car to unlock the cam ion, it gives you some lighting around the truck as you get closer With parking sensors in the rear bumper, which is also body color for the most part, has some plastic parts, particularly the steps here, so which gets on the truck and then you have the top of the bumper that you can step on. here is your tow hitch towing package with your four way and seven way outlets and this is for lowering your spare tire so behind this cover is the key to unlock it and access your spare tire so no one can steal your spare tire easily and look at those exhaust tips that look really cool alright so let's go ahead and push this button and lower the tailgate so we don't have to touch it when we're lowering it because it's a soft landing ya that the aluminum tailgate has a taste a hard plastic cover here on the inside of the tailgate very durable composite type material and then this one has the sprayer on the bed liner has LED cargo lights here on the sides multiple tie downs tie downs here so you can see there are actually three here on the rear two on the front actually three there is another one there on the bottom they are all fixed tie down points those are what It's more durable lifting the tailgate is a breeze as it's a white feel and it's assisted so no problem lifting it blind spot indicators are on the sides on the side mirrors on both sides on the passenger side on the drivers side and speaking drivers side this is where you will find the fuel door and it doesn't have a cap so you just put the nozzle in to pump out the gas you don't have to worry because you have a seal around the outside here but it's also a double door system so if water or something were to get through it just drains into this second chamber and then there's a second chamber that you have to push through to get to the actual tank and that's why you need to use a funnel , there's a funnel supplied to access the tank when you're using a gas can so that gives you an idea of what's going on here so while we're on this side I'm going to give you another point d Looking at the back seat, you see the other side has this compartment and when we lift it up and you see the compartment under here and it has this little retaining wall so whatever you put in there isn't going to roll around and get in the way as you drive. ; stays in that compartment as long as you have the key inside the vehicle; it could be in your pocket in a bag or just sitting in the cup holder to power it up just put your foot on the brake hold it and push this button ok so here's the floorboard in front of the drivers seat now you notice the floor mat has full coverage all the way around and it snaps in place it stays in place it's basically part of the vehicle it's the accelerator and brake pedals the left area is a footrest that has a nice size and a comfortable angle let's go ahead and take a look under the hood to lift the hood there's a latch right here a little bit to the left of center so right i In this area just reach over and move it to the right you'll see that there it is, so when you reach it and go to the right, you can do it either way and this is a synthetic material like carbon fiber or graphite. type material so that it does not heat up.
I think it's a good idea because sometimes when you have the engine running things get hot under the hood of course that's fine so it just goes up only once you release the latch. up so that the underside of the hood is insulated. It also has a stamp on this outer edge here on the front of the hood. This helps to know the airflow, but also noises like that. And on the back there is a seal, so the firewall is insulated and protected and it's not too covered in plastic that you can see the engine a bit.
There are many things here, but everything is well organized and I am not. I don't think it's too crowded for you to see the portion. n of the frame here extends out and curves so it has a crumple zone so any forward momentum will push this towardsin instead of all the way back so you also have some clamps there inside the drivers side doors just like the other side except for a few more buttons so here on the driver side it's automatic touch down and a touch up though driver is auto down and up passenger and rear is auto down and you have to pull up and hold to get it up so you can still go down fast just by pushing it down all the way , but when you want to lift it, you have to press and hold it.
Side mirrors fit here. Just pick a side and fit with that. the little pad and the door lock controls your power seat here for the driver we can go forward and back, up and down, tilt and a power lumbar adjustment to the left of the steering column it has an electronic parking brake that can activate with the push of a button w I'll engage the rear wheels now that the headlight controls are here so when you move it to the left it's spring loaded and basically switches to your autolamp control so you can turn your autolamp control on or off of lights and you can also switch to fog lights i mean parking lights and headlights here and then this is the button to turn on those lights that are on the back of the spotlights side mirrors then you have your dimmer switch for your interior ,measure your cargo light at the rear of the end, bed,at the top of the cab,it shines and illuminates the cargo light, as well as the LEDs on the side and then this is your the fog lights for the driving controls are here you have auto for Drive High Forward Drive Low and Two Wheel Drive High here you can toggle your towing mode to pull you onto the trailer left rear and then pull it back to release it also has a tilt and telescoping steering column that you can measure with this lever and workers feel pretty easy to see and push down to disengage and adjust and lock in place like so that's ok so get in the driver's seat to check it out t is a lot of space here and everything is well laid out that's my impression of this truck so i have the seat back and down and i'm 6ft tall and I feel like a little kid that I can't barely touch the pedals here and there's a lot of leg room so this is a way for me to relax and it just gives them an idea of how much leg room there is in this truck as well as a soft leather wrapped steering wheel for the touch nice thick comfortable cruise controls here on the left hand side for you turn it on here cancel it then resume and say i really might use this little wheel here so these are not buttons it's just this part here is the heated wheel steering wheel also with a little indicator that lets you know on the right hand side is your voice recognition and this is also for answering bluetooth calls and this is the meeting place and then these buttons on the scroll wheel correspond to a screen between the indicators that we have I'll be there in just a minute. there's actually a volume for your radio here on the back of the steering wheel, so while your hands are resting here, you can move your fingers up and down to adjust the volume of your radio and change audio tracks here on the left side or on the radio. stations once the wiper controls are here on the turn signal lever and the shifter is here on the right side column shifter and you have the ability to right shift gear ratios in the 8-speed automatic transmission. a little bit of engine braking so let's take a look at these gauges so you've got that flat black background white lettering sticking out easy to read easy to get an idea of what's going on at a glance so your rpm's or on the left side on the right side is your speedometer on the top is your oil pressure, engine temp, fuel gauge and battery voltage all here in the center this is an information screen At this time, it shows your digital watch, digital speedometer gauge The distance to empty your odometer and show you this is a driving tool.
It also has a digital compass. Their vehicles face southwest and give you an idea. The status of your cruise control and what gear it's in is here at the bottom so we can use them. here the left to right buttons and the scroll and we're going to scroll to the right so you can see this is part of a menu system so you'll see little icons there and some of these these icons here notice this little bar a right here so you can scroll down and get more information using this wheel so scrolling up and down like a mouse wheel get tire pressure air filter pad life Brake, which is pretty neat, fuel economy blank page, scrolling to the right again, this is your setting. we can go in here and have a speed warning different settings here that we turn on or off my default would be the digital speedometer and on this screen there is nothing to scroll through and i like the way the button is concave so you can find it and push it and looks pretty neat there's also a storage pocket here on the top it's hard to get the camera to look at it but it's up there and it has a removable rubber tray that you can clean and put it back on it also keeps things from sliding around as they its a rubber surface theres a lot of options here and it may look like a lot of buttons but its very simplistic in my opinion its not much its not too done its not too designed as well designed i think here is the touch screen and this is the home screen , so right now it's split between your radio and your phone and you can know the presets there at the top and you have is All the icons here at the bottom like good but you noticed these little dots that show you this is part of more of a home screen so you actually have a few more apps here so they can get into your Wi audio phone -Fi, go into settings you have OnStar, you can talk while you're I'm going to your trailer lights and test the ones you sup. pose let's hit the back button it also has apple carplay and android auto so just plug in the appropriate phone it will install the software and it will show up here on the screen anything you have on your phone will now be accessible on the screen like navigation , different things, like the music in there, all sorts of things, but this has to stay plugged in, go ahead, there's a camera, this is where you can see the backup camera without putting it in reverse, we'd go ahead and do that now and since it is offset it has these guide lines active which are very precise when i turn the wheel they are very precise they are much more precise than other vehicles it seems like other vehicles you just have to turn the wheel quite a few ways to get them to move this do you barely turn the wheel a bit and it's already registering on the lines there and this gives you an estimated trajectory as you go back? e vehicle so you can turn them on or off and since it's slightly offset when you press this button when you're reversing a trailer it gives you the center line so it won't when a camera is slightly offset it doesn't give you a true, it's not in the center so you have to know where the center is so this gives you that center line there so I think it will be better if the camera is actually in the center that would help but this is this is better that nothing as far as backing up a tree this is really good for becket of a trailer but i wish you knew to put that camera in the center i think it would have been better ok let's get back out there that once i connect your phone, you'll have access to your recent calls and other things, but you can also make an emergency call without your cell phone.
It has its own cellular connection that you can use for emergencies. audio so you have your radio presets you have am/fm you can adjust your sound you can navigate let's go further here you have AM FM and bluetooth are your audio sources here now it does have inputs to the radio with USB now what happens is that you have to plug it in before it shows up here so it doesn't show right Now so you have a traditional volume tune through the stations you can make selections with that check mark. We sell the back button, there's the home button, and it changes depending on what tracks or radio stations you have, those kinds of things that you can search through different stations, okay? so down here is your climate control so you have the driver and passenger temperatures and you can sync them up by pressing that button to de-slung it you can press the button or start adjusting the passenger knob there and they are very high-feeling rubber knobs quality and then you have the fan speed here in the center where you want the air to blow into the front and back of the D Foster air conditioner and recirculate the air you can also turn the c delimb control on/off heated seat controls , so you have two stages actually three stages high mid low and this is for the rear and the low this is just the rear for the driver side on the passenger side.
Parking sensors the same deal you can turn off Dior ignition you've got the indicator light here same with the start stop function when you get into the vehicle it turns me on go ahead turn it off that's what I recommend you can drop the tailgate sitting right here four way parking flashers hazard flashers come on here traction control is on by default but you can turn it off here it will always be on unless you turn it off then have a descent control downhill, this is for four wheel drive situations where you are crawling downhill and it keeps you at a constant speed without sliding too fast.
The trailer brake gain control is here. USBC and standard USB inputs or charging ports as well and a 12 volt power supply. Between the really big and functional console it has very soft armrests and there's a center part to separate the driver and passenger so you don't want to fight over precious space here very very soft and comfortable you can put a cell phone in here or whatever whatever and you have cup holders little storage pockets everything is wide open in the center she would use the space for something other than cups like hold your cell phone or whatever now what i would like to see is what goes on in this particular case when you plug it in. in your android car or apple carplay or just charging your cell phone there are ports that are uncovered but there's nowhere here to put your cell phone so i liked having a pocket here to put your cell phone that way the cables don't cross over here to plug it in, especially when you flip this over, there's not really a place to put your cell phone, so that's interesting because if you use an Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, it has to be connected. connected anyway this stands up nice so in two places for this part to stand up you have a place to clip something and put some tissues and a storage compartment here and this is the funnel that I was telling you about in as far as a gas can comes with it and this is a rubber floor here it's removable okay this all lifts up so this is like a handle here and you just lift it up that way you can have a center passenger and have a center passenger here and when you do this there's no place to put your cell phone because you know you have a this now is a seat now if you wanted you could actually there's a compartment under here where you can put your phone cell but i don't see anywhere for the wires to go in and out of this without being pinched this is also uh lock it has a keyhole down here that you can lock this compartment the same as with the glove box but um but yeah here I was a little curious about that as to where you are going to put your cell phone when you have your apple carplay and android auto running i guess you could just leave it here on the ground but if you have a passenger in the center it might be get in the way, but maybe up here, I don't know if you've got an idea, let me know in the comments where it might go, maybe just put it in the glove box or something.
I don't know if the cable will fit in there, but we'll have to check. a little bit more okay so the rearview mirror has a manual day and night mode so you've got your OnStar and the emergency buttons up here touch the lights a little ambient light right here at night little little lights like that I love it because it looks like it's insignificant but when you add night it's really really dark they adda very nice glow inside the truck run you can orient yourself a little better ok so the visors have really big mirrors on them they also extend that metal part i also have a little clip in there ok so let's take a look to visibility in the rear so i have the headrests so this is what you know if you have passengers there you basically know with the headrest down you have better visibility but you can see there is a little problem no big problem of course if you have passengers in there you may have a problem with their heads in the way too but overall not bad i mean if you have a lot of glass you can look over your shoulder easily you can see right below from the center and it also has the rear cross traffic alert blind spot monitor system with that system as well and its backup camera parking sensors all those different tech different way to help you avoid sliding your finger sideways or back into something before you let go i have the window sticker shown here you can use the pause button for info if you want it helps to know what this vehicle has as standard and optional so we have standard equipment here it starts with no warranty and then you have mechanical security and interior exterior security then you have your standard vehicle price and then you have some options here so you have the z71 package and then you have the all-edition star and also the engine like true there is an optional engine safety package trailer brake controller had it there then you have your money broken down with total price fuel economy ratings safety ratings not there but would be there and then has the engine the transmission from the United States United States some parts are made in Mexico most of it is ok a good part rte is made here in the united states ok so thanks for looking thanks to jed kun
chevrolethere in north myrtle beach south carolina and i really appreciate you letting me show off an amazing truck and i'll see you guys next time
