2017 Lincoln Continental Review - A Half Priced Maybach?

since the Lincoln Continental went extinct in 2002, Lincoln hasn't had a flagship of any kind, and indeed, overall, perception of the brand hasn't been the best. Now the introduction of the Lincoln MKZ was a step in the right direction but to really boost your brand reputation you need to show the world what you are capable of creating in flagship form that is where the new Lincoln Continental comes into play. now in the spring of 2015 Lincoln dropped the bombshell on everyone who showcased the Continental concept at the New York Auto Show with a look that could topple a Bentley Flying Spur a gorgeous stately looking paint job on huge wheels the Continental looked being a promising step in the right direction for

unfortunately the economy tweaked some of the designs to make it feasible for sale in the us market the trunk had a beautiful design in concept that was actually completely impractical because to fit things in the trunk had to be lifted extremely high Although the door handles had to be adjusted a bit and Some of the styling was changed, of course we don't have that beautiful two tone blue paint available, although it is a beautiful car, now the base Continental starts at forty four thousand.

Seven hundred dollars is a good deal for what you're getting, however, it's top-of-the-line Black Label trim with a number of upgrades that bring the total price to seventy-eight thousand dollars. Wiggins' new brand approach to the Continental is quiet luxury, his words are a combination of serenity, elegance and power now in terms of elegance, the design is definitely beautiful and there are some innovations that make the design look different than usual. most other vehicles on the road eg e latch door handles which are actually built into the chrome window trim and not the door itself further down as you would normally expect now that it was a nightmare engineering and I'm sure the QA people were getting their hair on end, but they did. or a pretty good job you can actually open the door in a suite just by clicking the button inside the latch, although inside from the inside we have another button to open and it's in an awkward place when you press it and try to open the door, you can't push the door by hand because it's too close to the actual hinge, you don't get any leverage, you have to push the door open with your elbow, which takes some getting used to, we've also got nice HID headlights, they have five different lenses on each side it reminds me a bit of the bugatti chiron although this one of course came out first regardless it looks expensive

also features their star mesh grill its big imposing looks classy and really tops off the beautiful front end design of the Continental this is a very attractive vehicle it looks great from the front at an angle decide the rear they absolutely knocked it out of the park with the di sir, what about the power? there are three engine options we have a 3.7 liter naturally aspirated v6 and then there are two turbo options a 2.7 liter twin turbo v6 and a 3.0 now this is the top of the line twin turbo 3.0 liter engine it makes 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque which is a lot even for a car that weighs 4,600 pounds coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission that doesn't shift as fast as it should, it can do 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds there are paddles of steering wheel mounted shifters, but they are incredibly flimsy, made of very cheap plastic.

I feel like if I push them too hard I can get them off the wheel in terms of responsiveness, even when you put the transmission in sport mode. he often denies that it takes a while for the switch to actually respond to his inputs. I wish they would get rid of that completely or put in a different transmission, maybe the speed tenn like in the Ford Raptor via learning for the development of the Focus RS. This one has a complex four-wheel-drive system that's actually capable of sending one hundred percent of the torque to just one individual wheel at a time to get you out of sticky situations and help you feel a little safer on the road when there's inclement weather the interior design climate is equally amazing get these 30 way power adjustable seats now these are an option but i have never experienced a seat that can conform to the contour of your body that can be customized like this we have a number almost ridiculous of buttons here on the door to control the seat of course we have heated seats they're ventilated as well and we'll talk about the back there's also heated and ventilated seats back there let's click the plus button here so that pop up infotainment screen all adjustable features we can go from individually sized support the left can be individually moved from the right to individually customizing the lower back compared to the upper back, the lumbar reinforcements r it's actually amazing how much control you have and i'm actually going to make a video dedicated to some of the unique features of the Lincoln Continental because it has some things that a lot of other cars don't have, we also have a 19 speakers 19 rebel audio system that sounds great I tried it with royalty free music I like what's on the top so we have a $4,300 rear seat package that comes with four-way power adjustable rear seats that can recline, you can even get a massage and they're heated and cooled, it's an absolutely serene experience from the back seat, plus , when you lower the center console, you have access to climate control, think three radios, whatever you want, you can even control the passenger seat from the right rear seat back there for a little more leg room if you need it they drive Black Label cars, there are three different themes, it reminds me and maybe it's inspired a little bit by the difference inspired by the collection. n that rolls-royce has this is the thoroughbred theme we have jet black leather and chestnut upholstery then there is Chalet which is based on the slopes of the Alps I like that interior better is this nice cream white and then we have Rhapsody also from the point From a technology standpoint, the Continental is loaded, too.

We have a 360 degree surround view camera which makes parking a breeze. Rear view mirror with automatic dimming. Pre-collision assistance. an American car, something you can't really get in European cars due to emissions regulations and there's even a find my car feature in case I lose it in a parking lot, so what's it really like to drive well? One complaint I have is that the steering wheel is too small wrapped in nice leather although it is creased in many different ways where the seams are it is not as comfortable to the touch as many other vehicles are however very quiet here The steering is nice and light, it rides well over bumps, but it's not as comfortable as something like a ct-6 or g90, probably its two main competitors in general, although it's a relaxing experience, I'd imagine if you spend forty and three hundred bucks for the backseat package you'll probably want to spend most of your time reclining in the back but if you're driving it it's not bad I have some issues with the build quality of course it looks great , but when it starts to touch certain areas.

It doesn't feel as good as it seemed for example for climate control this switch here for fan speed feels unbelievably cheap I mean it's not even worth being in a ten thousand dollar car let alone something that costs almost eighty thousand dollars. I have cool controls that work pretty well for heated and cooled seats as well as climate control. I really don't like the location of the volume knob on the steering wheel. It's not a knob it's actually a switch but another that these seats are so comfortable you have great visibility tons of room inside and I think they did a fantastic job with the Lincoln Continental considering they haven't built a car like this in fourteen or fifteen years they did a very very good job there are some things they can improve of course and I'm sure the next generation of
