2016ktm has made their amazing 350 even better the xc and sx models were totally redesigned from 2015 changes more notable are the completely redesigned engine body frame and they made the
bikehandle better it is much lighter and has much better power so even though KTM has created an amazing bike for 2016 my goal is to make it even better not I'm just going to highlight it a bit and add some flair but my main goal is to make it better for myself and my type of riding which is mostly desert and single track so let's put a few things on this bike and get tested ok guys i've had the bike for a few months now and i must say i really love this thing, i've had it in the high speed open desert, the narrow single track in the mountains and i've had it inc I've only taken it on a motocross track a couple of times and I really like this t There's stuff everywhere so I want to start by talking about my overall impressions of the bike and then I'll move on to the mods.
The first thing that really stands out on this bike for me is the engine, the power is just perfect on this thing. when KTM claimed it made 58 horsepower I was a little nervous you'd have to yell it only has good top end power but it has awesome bottom end power and anywhere in between I can take this in the tights mountain trails and it does great and loves to get yelled at in the desert on the track, so KTM did an amazing job on this engine. I really love this engine and wouldn't change a thing about it. economy everything feels great it feels lighter than a 450 but it certainly doesn't feel as light as a 250 F in my opinion but it's very comfortable everything feels great gearing I think they did a very good work.
Great in the desert, but it's tall for your single track forest driving. I actually went up a couple of teeth on the rear sprocket just to do better on those singletrack trails, so I moved on to the suspension. I think the KTM did a pretty good job it felt a little unbalanced to me the rear shock is actually the same spring rate as the sx model and the forks are a little softer so the suspension came first I addressed and that brings me to the modifications. I want to talk first about the must-have mods for this bike and then I'm going to talk about the nice-to-have mods, so if there's any bike, it's critical that you set up the suspension for your weight and your riding style the kind of typing you do KTM has had issues for a few years with these four CS forks, it's not most people, it's not their favorite fork and I thought it was a bit harsh as well, so I spoke to several people who said they sent it to them on concepts that know what they are doing. with all four CS have some great fixes so that's what I did.
I sent the impact and the Forex accurately. They rotate them both. They put a softer spring in my chalk and left the stock springs alone in the fork. the big fast whoops in the desert and I can also soak up the small rocks very well trail riding so I'm very happy with my suspension on 17 2017 the KTM is supposed to come with the air fork so I don't know if they will have a better fork in 17 but if you have all 4 CS forks on any of your bikes precision concepts do an amazing job so be sure to check them out for a taken care of suspension the next thing you need to have is protection and in This bicycle.
I put on the p3 carbon skid plate and pipe guard. The p3 guys have been around for quite some time. They know what they are doing with carbon fiber. His stuff looks good and fits well so I'm very happy with the skid plate and pipe guard the next piece of guard I put on the bike is the quick way adjustable The billet linkage guard is adjustable so you can adjust the suspension height. The height of the seat. I have mine in the stock setup which seems to work fine but the nice thing about this guard is that it protects the front end of your shock which is really important if you're going over logs or through big rocks things like KTM had a problem with their new linkage bikes that linkage that got hung up very easily so this is a great solution for that and then i went ahead and strap on the tusk D flex handguards wraparound handguards are a must have in my opinion any offroad rider especially when riding in the woods and lastly the protection piece i put on is the tusk disc guard it's pretty cheap and can save you from bending a disc in a race and it looks good then i had to put Alec's exhaust the stock muffler on this bike did not come with a spark arrester so if you are riding wood or depending on where you are racing sometimes the Spark arrester is required when I ride it as I definitely have to have one and the great thing about the Lexx is that it's completely tunable so whether you're racing motocross in the desert or you like to ride in the mountains you can tune it up so that when I ride the mountains, I throw in the Trail Saber Core, which is a spark arrestor, and the Quiet Core, and it makes this bike whisper quiet.
It helps me to be respectful of the other user groups that also use the cannons and my ultimate need. they are Bridgestone's ultra-heavy tubes. I have had very good luck with these tubes. They seem to be the sturdiest on the market and puncture a lot less when I wear them, which pretty much covers my must-haves. Now let's talk about them. First on my list of good things are Tusk impact wheels. I really like these wheels. They are extremely strong. The hubs are made from forged aluminum and then machined. It has a 7000 series aluminum rim and best of all they look great I also keep an e Xtra rear wheel with a trial tire I have the Dunlop trial tire and use it when I go up the mountains.
The test tires are just amazing on the tight technical stuff. Things like you tie a knot. I went ahead and put on the enduro lighting kit. This lighting kit gives me turn signals, horn, tail light, brake light and makes it possible for me to connect trail driving on the highway legally now depending on where you live. You would have to check with your regulations to make sure you can do the same, but here in Utah it works great in conjunction with the enduro lighting kit. I needed to get a headlight to work, so I'm using the Baja Design Squad headlight. extremely bright now this bike the stator doesn't actually have enough output to run the headlight unless you want to kill your battery so i sent the stator over to baja designs they wrapped it up so my output is now 90 watts ,so i can safely run that headlight without draining my battery i also got a performance sub mount kit from scott this is a really good steering stabilizer set up with a brp clamp and the cool thing about the brp clamp is which is rubber mounted, actually has four top mounts. and you can adjust the rubber durometer depending on how much flex you want.
Another nice accessory I put on this bike is this radiator cap with a temperature gauge and I found this to be great. I find myself watching my temperature all the time. Especially when I'm riding the bike trails and surprisingly this bike does very well. In fact, I haven't even had it boil down on me, but it's finally the ultimate treat to have things I put on this bike or just some shiny items, some billet parts. tank caps gas cap brake pedal stuff like that but they really make the bike look even better along with the shine. you guys will probably never run but i run quite often its a chain saw rack and this trail tech chain saw rack works great with the steel saw we clear trails alot here in utah and this is awesome i can just stopping the bike cut through a downed tree real quick and got back up and on so we covered a lot of trails quickly thanks to this chainsaw stand alright guys that wraps up our 2016 ktm 350 xef bike
