2012 marks 100 Years of the Eagle Scout Award

For me, earning the rank of Eagle Scout was a huge accomplishment. I felt really very proud. I was very proud of what I had achieved, but more importantly what it meant to me. fulfilling the hopes and dreams of many people in my future as an Eagle Scout meant more as the years went by, even though it didn't when I received the

, those Scouts, that small percentage who become Eagle Scouts, often They find themselves. in leadership positions here in our country and we have seen the variety of people, from presidents to astronauts, who are involved in Scouting and particularly the achievements in discovery.

The year is 1912. New Mexico and Arizona become states. The Titanic sinks on her maiden voyage. Woodrow Wilson is elected president and a young man named Arthur Eldred becomes the first Boy Scout to earn the Eagle Scout award. In fact, a total of 23 Eagle Scout badges were earned that year over the decades, the number of Eagle Scout badges awarded reaching new milestones under Alex Hall. The singer became the one millionth Eagle Scout in 1982 and Anthony Thomas became the two millionth Eagle Scout in 2009. Scouts who earn their Eagle during

Perhaps no one is more familiar with the history of the Eagle Scout Award later distinguished Eagle Scout dr. Terry Grove, his collection of Eagle award medals is considered the largest in the world. The fun thing is watching a father bring his son and walk up and say "that's my Eagle" that's what my self applies with a century of Eagle Scouts helping to guide the course of American history now in our rearview mirror , what awaits today's new generation of Eagles and how they see their role in shaping America's next 100 years. I feel so confident now that I walk into two rooms and I can say that people know that I just got my Eagle Scout and they say congratulations to me, it just makes me feel really good and you know it definitely gives me a lot of confidence to say that I'm an Eagle Scout. ranked Eagle in ten years means more of that. not the Eifel rank, but it's what I've learned and probably the leadership had the idea to hunt my Haven and then when I joined I noted that I was an Eagle Scout and it surprised my recruiter and it surprised many. people and maybe that made them see me in a different way.

I have great respect for the boys, their brilliance today and I think they are as solid as any Eagle from Eldred to the present. Being an Eagle Scout is more than wearing a badge, it is a state of being one for life. I was never an Eagle Scout. One is an Eagle Scout.
