theater

, so in early August, Dave shows up at the capital city

for his first day on the job and meets his partner, an officer named Morgan Matthews, and He gets there that first day. and Dave would immediately say that Morgan was strictly business.

The first place Morgan takes Dave is the control room which is located on the first floor of the theater. The theater had three floors and then it also had a basement, so the control room. It was on the first floor, inside the control room, there were all these security monitors because there were all these cameras installed inside the theater. The cameras weren't very good, although you could only tell what was in the frame if there was a light. on and most of the time at night, especially the lights were off once they were done looking at the control room Morgan tells Dave now let's make our rounds.

This is something we do every time you arrive at the theater, you do a security check. go around and make sure everything is locked, all lights are off before returning to the control room. You will do this at the beginning of your turn and at the end of your turn. Morgan takes Dave downstairs and it's the first time Dave sees the basement and he's shocked at how big it is, this huge hallway that extends to the middle of the hallway, there's a piano that's right in the middle and the lighting isn't good in there. Downstairs this is a very old theater, you know everything.

The building was

quit

e old and Dave remembers thinking that he was immediately scared by this scene, this long hallway with all these doors on this piano right in the middle of the hallway and he thought to himself, I don't want to spend a lot of time. This is very creepy down here, but they go down the hall, check all the doors, go up to the main floor, the second floor, the third floor, everything is checked, and after doing this round of security, Dave and Morgan go back to the living room. control and Dave is looking forward to getting to know Morgan a little.
This is his first night, they are going to work together a lot and Dave would say that Morgan seemed very cold and just didn't want to talk to Dave much. As soon as his shift was almost over, Morgan was very eager to just call security rounds and get out of that building at the end of that night. Dave remembers thinking there was something strange about Morgan's behavior, it seemed like Morgan really did it. He didn't like being in the theater, it would turn out that he was in something because Morgan didn't like being in that building, but it would take him a while to share with Dave why for the next few days Morgan and Dave would be handling security. rounds together because Dave is training and Morgan is teaching him, but on August 9th, which is two days after Dave's first day on the job, Morgan was confident that Dave knew how to secure the entire building and, at the end of the night, He tells Dave why he doesn't do it.
If you do the security rounds yourself, Dave feels very confident that he knows how to do it. He goes down to the basement. He makes sure all the doors are closed. The lights are off. He finishes. The basement goes up to the first floor, where the control room is located. He goes and checks all the rooms on that floor, he goes to the main auditorium space, he's checking all the different nooks and crannies to make sure there's no one hiding there, he goes up to the second floor, he checks all the different rooms up there and the balcony goes up to the third floor where all the offices of the staff who work in the theater are.
At the end of the search, the last room he would check was the rehearsal room and it was the only room where there was no door. So you stuck your head out and looked around, made sure no one was there and then you left and that's the end of your check, so Dave comes to the rehearsal room, turns on the light and looks in, no . He sees that someone is satisfied that there is no one there. He turns off the light and when he is about to return to the hallway he hears a door slam with tremendous force right on the other side of the hallway where he was and it was the bathroom door.
His first reaction is someone has just walked in. run out of the bathroom, someone who had snuck into the building must have run out of the bathroom and they are pausing to get out of the theater before he catches them, so he instinctively picks up his radio and calls. to Morgan and tells him that there is someone on the third floor, but when Morgan looks at the camera he doesn't see anyone, at that moment Dave took out his gun, you know he's looking down the hallway, he doesn't see anyone and while waiting for him to come Morgan. up to back it up so they can go find this person who just ran down the hallway.
He realizes two things: one, just because he heard the door slam doesn't mean they left and slammed it, they could be in the bathroom and then he's thinking. to himself, someone could be in the bathroom right now, maybe that's why we didn't see it on camera and then the second thing he thought about is that door, the bathroom door can't slam shut, it has a huge hinge hydraulic, yes you can. He doesn't slam it, so he pulls his gun and points it at the bathroom door just as Morgan appears to the right of him. Morgan pulls the gun on him, he has it on the door too and they go into the bathroom, cleaning all the different spaces. in the bathroom and there's no one there and there's no way to get out of there Morgan and Dave say okay well they must not have come in here they must have run out of the bathroom they are somewhere in the theater and decide Let's go look throughout the building and we'll find this person who was clearly in the bathroom and that's how they closed the door.
We're not going to worry about how they closed the door with the hydraulic hinge. We only know that it was closed somehow. so they leave the bathroom with the gun still in their hand and start walking down the hallway they are checking all the doors, everything is locked when they start to go down to the second floor, dave recognizes through the door because there is a door that leads to the second floor, he can see that the lights are on and he had turned them off and as they go down the stairs, he says to Morgan, hey, did you turn on the lights on the second floor and Morgan says no, so they think whoever was here who was in the bathroom is on the second floor they must have turned on the lights they go to the second floor and not only are the lights on but all the doors on the second floor had been opened they search the entire second floor they search each room, there is no one on the second floor floor, they turn off the lights, they close all the doors, everything is locked when they went down to the first floor, everything was as it should have been locked, the lights off, nothing down there and they go down to the basement and although it was creepy to be there because now They have searched the entire building and anticipate coming into contact with whoever is here, assuming they haven't left the building yet and no one is there, they decided to check the footage from the third floor to see if they could capture anyone running down the hallway in the moment the door closed, but the camera wasn't focused on the bathroom door, so you just have this view of the hallway that you can't see. the bathroom specifically, not to mention the hallway is dark and the cameras are terrible with no light, so all they can see is the light comes on in the rehearsal room while Dave is doing his last check in there, the lights go out.
They turn it off because Dave is about to turn around and then you hear a massive door slam, but you can't see what happened so you don't know what to make of it, you're both very nervous that someone might still be inside. the building and they do another sweep of the building and there's no one there and they decide to just write it down and say we were hearing and seeing things, I'm sure it's okay, let's get out of here and they leave a couple Days later, August 11, Morgan is working alone. Dave isn't coming that day, so Morgan is alone in the theater doing a shift and at some point during the night, while he's sitting in the control room, he thinks he hears whispers in the hallway. behind him and after the experience he had with Dave a couple of nights ago, he's nervous so he pulls out his gun immediately and walks out into the hallway and immediately as he walks into the hallway the whispers seem to get further and further away. from him down the hallway to come out there, he's looking around, he can't see anything, walk down the hallway towards the stairs that go down to the basement or, if you wanted to go up to the second floor, when you reach the one at the top of the staircase, you know, he's with the gun in his hand, he looks down, he looks up, he hears what sounds like a cough coming from the basement, at this point Morgan said he was actually pretty scared, I mean, imagine being alone in this theater just a couple of days before.
You've had this strange experience with doors slamming, doors opening, and lights going on that someone else, another police officer, witnessed with you. You are alone in this theater and you hear coughing coming from the basement after hearing voices behind you. That's pretty scary. so very slowly he starts going down the stairs, he's getting ready to clear the corner and just as he stops he turns on the lights and looks down the hallway and there's nothing there, he starts walking down the hallway, he's checking every door making sure that it's locked, you know, making sure everything is secure and he goes all the way down the hallway and when he's almost done checking the basement, he smells smoke and it's coming from a door right next to him, so he opens that door and goes in and there's no fire but the only thing he can smell is smoke, he turns on the light, he looks around, there is no fire, he is convinced that somewhere in the basement there is a fire, he goes to each room and keeps checking and there is nothing and then, At some point, the smell of smoke dissipates, he checks all the spaces in the theater to look for a fire and there is no fire.
He wonders if he should call the fire department, but he thinks what he would tell them. There is no fire, and finally, after checking. three four times and being pretty sure there wasn't a fire, he just said, "Okay, there's no fire," I guess he was smelling things a few weeks later, September 4, Dave just got to the theater, a shortly before, his shift began at 5:00 p.m. He was there around 4:30 and when he entered the building he sees that there are three staff members sitting at the reception talking to each other and when he passes by, one of them talks about ghosts inside the theater. and it immediately piques his interest and he approached the guy who was talking about ghosts and introduced himself and it turned out that this guy was a man called Blair Fuller who was a senior accountant at the theater and then Dave asked Blair what are you talking about ghosts at the movies? because I provide physical security here and I've seen some strange things here.
I love hearing what you have to say about it, so they head to the third floor where Blair's office was and sit down. and Blair says, okay, I have something for you. This happened to me a couple of years ago. In fact, I was in this office. It was around ten past nine at night. I was working and heard the elevator start. Now the elevator was. right outside your office and every time the motor was running it made a lot of noise, it was very obvious if the elevator was moving, so you are doing your accounting work and you hear the motor start, you don't think much about it, but then it clicks that he is the only one in the building and then he looks out the glass window of his office.
He had an office with closed doors with two windows facing the lobby where the elevator is and he looks out and you can see that. the little lights above the elevator that show which floor it is on have come on and it's going up, so the elevator was in the basement and now it's on the first floor, the second floor, the third floor, the doors open and there's no one there there right now, Blair says. he wasn't worried, he thought it was fine, maybe there is some maintenance, maybe it is scheduled to do that, who knows, but after a while the alarm goes off in the elevator to indicate that something is obstructing the door from closing and he is looking out the window and he hears this alarm, it rings like a doorbell, but the door doesn't close and he thinks that there is nothing obstructing the door why doesn't it close and then he leaves his office and walks towards the elevator and enters the elevator and says that he immediately felt a massive drop in temperature inside the elevator andas he is standing there he turns around Now he is looking towards his office inside the elevator, the doors start to close and for some reason he said I didn't go down, I just decided that I am going to get on this elevator, the button for the basement lights up as if someone had pressed the basement. and they started going down and he was sitting there thinking what the hell was going on.
It was just an alarm because the door wouldn't close and then miraculously when I walk in it suddenly works again and goes to the basement. he goes to the basement, the door opens, there's no one there, he comes out and Blair says it took all her courage to yell, "hey, is there anyone down here?" and as soon as he did and heard no response he said he didn't want to make any more noise the elevator was in the middle of the hallway in the basement it's this huge room with that piano right in the middle the lights are off and he's sticking his head out into a There is nothing down there.
He sees the piano just from the light of the elevator and looks to the other side, there is no one there and at that moment he is so scared that he goes back to the elevator and hits four three four three four three and hits like a door . door closed door closed closed the door closes and he goes back to his office, he goes into his office and he closes the door and he sits down and he's thinking: what was that? Why did that happen? I have to find out. He's running maintenance or something and as he's sitting in his chair thinking about this strange experience, he hears what sounds like banging coming from outside his office in that lobby near the elevator, and he just goes to his door, opens it, and pushes it.
He heads towards the hallway and looks to the side there is a large filing cabinet and all the cabinets are out, they have all been taken out, he certainly didn't do this and it was as if someone was pushing each one of them one by one to close these big, heavy cabinets. and he looks at us one by one, these things slam one by one until everything is closed and then he comes over and tries to refute what he just saw, that he can open a drawer and it will close itself but none of them it will close you just have to close it something has to close it for it to close so he packed his bags for the day and left and didn't work another night shift at the theater later That night, Dave would share Blair's story with Morgan .
He wasn't really sure how Morgan was going to react, but Morgan actually opened up and said, "You know," before he started working here. I always felt like I was being watched when he was here. and then we had that experience, obviously, where the lights came on and you heard the knock on the bathroom door and then a few days ago I heard voices coming from the hallway and I heard someone coughing in the basement and I smelled smoke and and there was no There was no one there and they started going back and forth exchanging stories about how uncomfortable this place made them feel and then they were wondering what they should do about it and Dave has this idea: He's like my best friend, I'll invite him.
Let him come here one night and we'll tell him we'll give him a tour of the building and see what he says, see if he reacts to anything here, who knows, maybe something strange. it will happen and then we will have someone else validate it. Morgan thinks it's a good idea and so Dave contacts his best friend Greg. Greg would tell him that he was a little surprised to get this offer to come take a tour of the theater, but he was interested and since Dave was asking, he thought it would oblige him, so Greg agrees to come to the theater and take a tour, so So the next day Dave and Morgan are at the theater and Greg shows up and they start this tour.
They enter the main auditorium, look around, and head to the basement. Morgan turns on the light and Morgan and Dave instantly see a little further down the hallway to the left, one of the doors has opened and so Dave and Morgan push Greg out of the way, they pull out their guns and point them at the open door, so Greg just stays behind them while Morgan and Dave walk down to this open door and when they get right outside the door, I'm about to push it open to get in, the door slams shut right in front of Greg, Dave and Morgan and everyone look at each other like they're passing by, but before they can do anything, the door handle starts rattling very aggressively after the rally. stops, Dave and Morgan look at each other and nod like we need to go in there.
Greg is afraid to be alone in the hallway, so he just follows them and the three of them enter this room. Dave and Morgan. Know? guns drawn it's a small room there's no one there the light switch is on there's no one there greg suddenly gasps and points to the corner and says someone is sitting in the corner and dave and morgan immediately point their guns at what There is in the corner but there is no one there and Greg is like me. I just saw someone sitting in the corner. He looked like he had a hood.
He had a sweatshirt. I don't know, but he was right there. Then Dave and Morgan freaked out because they brought Greg here on some level to disprove the strangeness and now the three of them have seen a door slam that shouldn't have been open in the first place. Greg claims to have seen a figure sitting in the corner, which scared the hell out of Greg. The three of them quickly left them closed and the lights off went up the stairs Greg like he was out of here Greg leaves and Dave and Morgan are like now what then at this point all the strangeness that was happening in the theater was being reported but it was reporting in a way that Dave and Morgan didn't seem to be referencing something haunted, but rather that someone was breaking in.
Eventually, the county installed new cameras inside the theater. These upgraded cameras had infrared technology that allowed them to see better when the lights were off, they hoped this would allow them to catch whoever was breaking in practically every time David Morgan was on the ship, so the day it was installed, the September 15, Morgan was working there alone and he was sitting in the control room looking at the different cameras and he is playing with the different screens and seeing what each of the cameras can do and at some point something catches his attention in one of the screens in the main auditorium, it looked as if someone might be sitting in one of the seats. but the camera was far enough away that he couldn't get a clear picture and he didn't know what was normal on any of these cameras because this is the first time he's looked at any of these screens and therefore he's actually looking to the camera. up close and you think you see someone you can't really make out who has a hood up or a shroud who is sitting in the middle of the theater and starts turning his head like this and you can see clear as day a pair of eyes and before Morgan didn't even check what he had done, he literally

quit

that day, it was his last day at the theater a couple of weeks after Morgan quit and Dave is working alone in the theater.
He's in the control room and suddenly he hears a piano playing and there's only one piano in the entire theater and it's in the basement. It's his job to protect this place so you know. He has to go down and check because there could be some hooligan somewhere in the building, so he leaves the control room and when he starts walking towards the stairs with the gun in his hand, the music gets louder and louder, the piano it gets stronger and stronger. and harder he goes down the stairs and when he is about to turn the corner he hears the guard that protects the piano keys slam shut and the piano stops, then he turns the corner and looks and there is no one there below. he turns on the light, there is no one in the hallway, he knows he won't find anyone down here, it is this entity that is causing all this chaos inside the theater, Dave has seen enough, he is done, he is done with this theater and he goes back upstairs , goes. in the locks of the control room he stays there until the end of the shift and then he leaves and the next day he goes to a sergeant and tells him: "you can never put me in that theater again or I will leave it, and that's it." was transferred over the next two months, they didn't have anyone who could do full-time security at the theater, so different random officers would be there for a couple of hours, a couple of days a week, until the 26th.
November, they found another officer, a veteran. a police officer named josh thomas who was going to work at the theater full time on november 26th the first night josh thomas was going to be there he had no one to talk to so he was alone at the theater and it just so happens that Dave is on patrol near the theater when at some point during the night, Josh listens to the radio and says, "Hey, I need backup right now," someone has broken into the theater. Dave knows that he probably isn't someone who got in. He knows what's going on inside that theater, he was the closest to him and even though he didn't want to go, he felt like it was his responsibility to go to that theater and be Josh's backup and if it was what Dave thought, it would be this entity. at the theater he could explain to him what he had seen before he finally decided to never return and when Dave arrives at the theater there is a back door they would enter through and he sees Josh standing right outside the theater. and Dave was saying that Josh's eyes were, you know, like saucers.
He looked terrified, so Dave has an idea what's going on and walks up to Josh and tells him that what's going on is that there's someone still there. He said he had been doing security. He made rounds and had heard what sounded like voices when he was in the basement and he didn't think much of it, he checked all the rooms, everything was closed and when he went up to the third floor he saw that the elevator had kicked, he was in the basement and suddenly it turned on the light and it hummed up to the third floor and when the elevator opened there was no one there and he was standing there looking at it and he looks in there was no one there and then the alarm goes off and that's when he called for backup.
Dave says look, let's go search the building, we'll do it together, they clean the whole theater, there's no one there and before Dave leaves, they go to the main auditorium where the stage is and them. We're just standing on stage chatting amongst ourselves and Dave's back is to where the audience would be and Josh is looking at Dave looking towards the seats Josh suddenly stops mid-sentence, he's just frozen and looking over Josh's shoulder. Dave and Dave says what. and Josh says, there's something behind you. Dave slowly turns around and as soon as he does, he can immediately tell what Josh is looking at, standing in the back of the theater, away from them, is a man standing in the corner with his hands at his sides. he has his back to them and is looking down with a hood over his head.
Dave turns his entire body to look at this thing just as this thing turns around very quickly and looks right at them, it has these deep, dark, sunken eyes and its face looks like it's been badly burned like it's black and charred and it's burning. looking before simply turning and running out the back of the theater Josh believed it was an intruder Dave was pretty sure it was just another example of this entity that haunts the theater but they searched the building and could never find that hooded figure again and that's when Dave sat Josh down in the control room and told him why Morgan had quit and why he'd finally quit and I also told him the Blair story, so Josh is great.
I'm glad to work here now. This was the last time Dave would go to the theater, but Dave would do some more research on the history of the theater. It would turn out that in the '40s there was a horrible fire and a man had been trapped in the basement when the fire broke out and had died inside the theater, so Dave shared this information with Morgan and Josh and the three of them believed that what they were doing witnessing the ghost of that man who died in that fire, so I would love to know your reaction to this, was this a ghost or was it something else?
