In general, all these German car brands I just mentioned are more or less considered luxury brands in the US I mean Porsche. Of course it is also considered a luxury brand in Germany, but Audi, Mercedes and BMW are pretty much normal car brands for us, obviously. they also have expensive luxury cars but the regular models are driven by people from all walks of life in germany english speakers call this volkswagen while in germany we usually call it fauve vw fauve but even if we used the full name , would be pronounced volkswagen and not volkswagen, so imagine it was spelled with an f and a v instead of people's car, this literally means people's car or people's car and was founded during the third reich in the late 1990s 1930 because hitler wanted to have a car that was affordable for middle class Germans and would meet the needs of an average family, so this was his attempt to make cars not only available to upper class people but also for the general public and the company is based in wolfsburg now we are going to move into more than just cars so this is one of the brands where when When I heard Americans say this for the first time, I didn't understand what they meant because they usually pronounce i t adidas and in Germany we say adidas adidas adidas super different is the second largest sportswear manufacturer in the world after nike and I don't think many people know that this is a german company also has an interesting history it was founded by adorf dasla whose nickname was adi so the brand name is based on his first and last name adi das he founded the company in the house of his mother after returning from World War I and actually played a major role in the development of spiked sports shoes in 1924.
His brother Hudov joined the company and they founded the Dasla Brothers shoe factory but later left. they quarreled and broke up and his brother founded his own company called puma which became adidas' biggest rival so both adidas and puma are german brands. another shoe manufacturer many germans would probably consider very very german as if talking about something typically german birkenstock will definitely be mentioned but of course this br y is known all over the world nowadays and it's natural for people to pronounce it With their native accent, so English speakers often say birkenstock in German we say birkenstock birkenstock birkenstock, which literally translates to birkenstock, the company's roots go back to the 18th century, by the way, from shoes to alcohol , this is pronounced yiga maesta in german jagermeister, english speakers usually say jagermeister which is pretty much the same thing just with a pretty thick accent and people also often use the abbreviation jaeger like can i have a shot of jaeger? pls it literally means hunt master yiga is the hunter and maesta is the master and its a german herbal liqueur this is a german grocery store you can also find them in other european countries and they even have some stores in the usa my groceries at id here in the usa in germany we call stores like id or leader discounters because they sell groceries at very low prices in english p people usually pronounce this aldi i think i've heard aldi before too but i think most people say aldi or also a sometimes they add an s that isn't there at the end and say aldi's in germany we just say aldi has its origins in 1945 when the two brothers theo and kyle albrecht took over their mother's corner store and came up with the concept of have a small selection and low prices. suit e id noit id south and id north again this is because two brothers split into two different businesses in the usa the store is simply called id and actually belongs to id south while the store merchant joe belongs to id north now let's move on to nivea cosmetics is a german brand from hamburg which is mostly known for their face lotion in the little blue container but of course they offer a huge variety of products nowadays again the pronunciation in English sounds pretty fun to me. and here native english speakers usually say nivea nivea in german we say nivea nivea so the emphasis is on e ni through this is a german brand of hair cosmetics you can find all over the world pretty much in german we pronounce it schwarzkopf which literally means blackhead schwarzkopf native english speakers usually pronounce it schwarzkopf or schwarzkopf or something like that deutsche bank is the biggest bank in germany deutsche bank also literally means german bank of course you can find deutsche bank not only in germany but also in other countries a good a friend of mine here in cincinnati actually just did an internship with them at their location in new york city and is also going to start a full time job with them soon and americans usually pronounce it deutsche bank or something like that and my friend always uses the abbreviation deutsche when referring to fier to her so she said i got a job offer from deutsch which is really funny to me because that liter ally just means german.
This is a German manufacturer of high-end home appliances and it's not exactly

wrong
