10 year iPhone user switches to Galaxy! Here's why.

Feb 27, 2020
um, what's up everyone? I hope my Marvel fans enjoyed that Infinity War reference because that's exactly how I imagined the internal battle I had when I first saw the Galaxy S10 Plus. I have been that Apple fan for 10

year

s. I have had every iPhone every

year

since the 3GS came out in 2009 and in this video I am going to explain to you my personal reasons why I finally decided to switch to the dark side and on my first device Android. Let's get started, so

here

's what I've had an iPhone for 10 years and I've always loved the hardware, the high-end build quality and polished smoothness of iOS is undeniable.

I love the ease with which it works within my Mac, iPad ecosystem. Apple watches and even airpods, this is exactly what Apple is good at and how they get many

user

s to stay in their ecosystem, everything works perfectly together, at one time Apple was the king of the market on the hardware side and in T

here

was no one on the software side. that could compete with Apple in any of those aspects, but as time went on, although its hardware remained best in class, its innovation on the software side began to lag behind. I can tell you this because I was there, the jailbreak community was thriving years ago and with every iteration of ios that Apple released the race for a jailbreak began, why was jailbreaking so important?

10 year iphone user switches to galaxy here s why...

Because it allowed us to customize our iPhones and bring features that many of us wanted and I admit that some of the features were just gimmicks for fun, but some of them were legitimate software tweaks that made using my iPhone much more convenient. Things like quick response changes and night shift were all jailbreak tweaks years before Apple implemented them in iOS, but I had to jailbreak my new iPhone every year to get it. them and as the years went on it became harder for the jailbreak community to crack the latest ios software so I finally stopped doing that and stopped using ios for years and this is where the growing pains started at first they were annoyances minor ones like the fact that I couldn't create new groups for my contacts directly on my iPhone without connecting it to my Mac or downloading a third-party app or when Apple removed useful features like the ability to select multiple photos in the Photos app to share them instantly them or remove them, yes that feature had been available and then one day Apple decided to remove that capability entirely for no apparent reason, we had to wait until iOS 9 for them to add it back as a feature even though it was previously available on other iOS. versions and my favorite software change actually happened recently with a quick change to Quick Shifts and Control Center When Apple released Control Center in iOS 7, it was very apparent that clicking a switch would turn that on or off. function, activating and deactivating wifi and bluetooth.

It was something I did quite frequently on a daily basis and the Control Center

switches

made it quick and easy to do, but with the release of iOS 11, Apple changed the way those

switches

worked and made them essentially useless. Apple decided that switches wouldn't work. They no longer turned off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth as they had been doing for the past four years, but simply stopped checking for new connections until the next day, at which point Wi-Fi and Bluetooth would turn on again and continue. looking for this essentially. It meant that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antennas still stayed on even when you clicked the buttons to turn them off, not only was this potentially draining the battery, but it was also a security risk.

It also meant that every time I wanted to turn off the Wi-Fi. -fi or bluetooth I needed to unlock my phone, go to settings and turn it off manually, this made the switches useless, this change was obviously unwelcome but instead of giving your customers what they wanted and going back to your original functionality, Apple's solution was to show a single popup explaining how useless the toggle had become to this day Apple still hasn't changed the back, now it may seem like I'm ranting here but these are just a few of the many growing pains that Meanwhile, I kept hearing about how Android was super customizable.
Every new software feature that was released on the iPhone seems to have been on Android for months, even years, and it also had a lot of tricks that I used to tease Android

user

s with. but it also had features that I wanted so this brings me to the first reason I switched and that reason is the software, just a few days before I made the switch I somehow found myself on youtube watching random videos you know, one of those nights where you're just lying in bed and you go into that weird part of YouTube. Things and ideas that you just crossed into the twilight zone.
Well, that strange part of YouTube for me was watching videos about Android. Keep in mind that at this point I absolutely had it. I had no intention of switching from my new iPhone Tennis Max to an Android device the thought hadn't even formulated in my mind. Yes, I was getting more and more frustrated with iOS, but I still didn't feel compelled to switch for any reason except tonight. I found myself watching a video about the pixel 2 and all the things it could do. I saw some really interesting things that I liked, and before I knew it, I was digging deeper into what Android really offered today in 2019.
Google Assistant seemed to be smarter. than siri in most cases, the UI didn't look so android anymore, it was very clean and aesthetically pleasing and suddenly I had a greater desire to have widgets and a customizable home screen and there was something called always-on display that always I was wondering how this is possible, I was absolutely intrigued by this point, but I still wasn't excited about making the change, but there was something important that was holding me back. You see, the Pixel 2 is a really cool phone, but it's not exactly an iPhone. Do you know when?
You look at it, the build quality doesn't immediately catch your eye like a high-end premium device. The design is nice, but it just doesn't feel like the iPhone did, so I started looking at other devices. It's possible? that there was a phone out there that had the superior build quality that the iPhone has and at the same time ran Android and all its glory and then I found it, the Galaxy S10 Plus, and that brings me to the second reason why I made the hardware change when I saw it. When I first saw the edge-to-edge infinity display on the Galaxy S10 Plus, my iPhone immediately felt outdated.
The front of the phone appeared to be all screen with a camera cutout and notch replaced. The bezels seemed almost non-existent, especially on the sides. Due to the curved screen, the lack of a true facial recognition system like Face ID was pleasantly replaced by an in-display fingerprint scanner. It looked futuristic as it was completely under the screen and invisible to the eye. This was a feature I thought of at Apple. I was actually going to implement it before they finally chose to use Face ID. I think they're both great and adequate security features, but the in-display fingerprint sensor was a whisker for me simply because it doesn't require a notch in the display and it works. from any angle I would no longer have to lift my phone to unlock it.
Another thing Samsung did right was that the s10 plus had superior build quality, its glass sandwich design with aluminum bezels gives it an overall high-end look and gave me that feeling I got every time I saw a new iPhone . I truly believe this is the first time that Samsung has not only caught up but surpassed Apple in terms of overall hardware design. At that point I was completely sold. I was already past the point. No return, I had actually fallen in love with a phone that wasn't made by Apple, so the next morning I searched every possible retailer I could until I found a target that had the model I was looking for.
Turns out they were offering a 200 gift card for any new line or upgrade as well, so that was an added win for me. There were a few additional things I noticed hardware-wise once I got the device, these things didn't really convince me any more than I already was but they were the extra icing on the cake so to speak, the first thing I noticed when I picked up the phone It was how light it was, it felt premium in my hand thanks to the materials, but it was now noticeably lighter than my iPhone 10s max for some people.
You might like it to be lighter. Some people may like the heavier feel of the iPhone 10s Max. Personally, I can't decide that the Tennis Max has a more premium feel because it's heavier, but at the same time I enjoy how light the S10 Plus feels when I do it. I used it with one hand when I turned the phone on and I also noticed that the s10 plus had a slightly better OLED display and that's thanks to the higher resolution. I set the same photo as wallpaper for both phones and started pixel peeping and I could definitely see more details on the s10 plus now to be completely fair, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Tennis Max's screen.
The iPhone 10s Max has one of the best, if not the second, best screen on the market right now, but it felt good. knowing that I got a slight improvement in screen quality even if it wasn't something I asked for and the last icing on the cake was when I opened the camera during my YouTube research. I was a little skeptical about whether the third camera on the back would actually be useful or if it would just be an extra spec on paper and more of a gimmick, but having used the wide-angle lens it definitely exceeded my expectations.
I'm even considering replacing my gopro with it in most scenarios. so I was glad it was a piece of hardware I was actually going to use and that's the story of how a seemingly frustrated Apple loving fan like me finally had enough and decided to give Galaxy and Android a chance. Android 9 would intrigue me, but

galaxy

s10 plus it's hardware is what sealed the deal without Samsung. I would never have taken this initiative and at this point I have had the sn plus for almost two weeks and there are many things that I love that made me happy. changed and there are also things that I miss about my iPhone, so if you are interested in seeing what those reasons are, feel free to subscribe and turn on notifications so you can be notified when I post those videos and last but not least , comment on it.
