May 01, 2020
okay, we have to take a look here, it's not the bitzerini, it's wow, okay, here's the backstory. Four or five

years

ago, a friend of mine called me and said, "hey, there's a secret collection down here, you've got to

find

a way to get it." But it never ended up working out, fast forward to about four or five weeks ago, the owner of that same collection reached out and said, I'm trying to sell all these cars. I want to be able to detail them so they look great. Can? Go to detail I said no problem. I was totally excited to do it.

Oh, by the way, would you mind if I film now? As a side note, some customers are okay with that and others don't want to be filmed. This gentleman was very cool and he said, yes, yes, absolutely, you can film it but you can't reveal my location and you can't reveal my name. I told him there is no problem. I'm happy to do it now, over the

years

I've been able to make a There are a lot of collections, so I've seen a lot of interesting things, but when I got into this one I felt completely overwhelmed for multiple reasons, one of which is that there are so many cars packed into such a small, confined space it was crazy.

More Interesting Facts About,

1 000 000 barn find first wash in 32 years bizzarrini p538...

I'm not even describing it to you, so you have to see this. The other thing is that a lot of these cars were 20, 30, 40 years old and no one had seen them, so they're just covered in layers of dust, which to me is incredibly exciting. They are the latest. The

barn

is now, if you look through the collection, look, there are cars, from pintos to ferrari lussos and in this case this is a bitzerini, which is an incredibly rare car, in fact, they don't even know how many are left yet. so seeing one in real life and then having the opportunity to detail it was just kind of a detail, it's like life changing, it was a big deal anyway, I just want to tell you a little bit of the backstory so that when If you go into this episode, you can say "wow" and understand the magnitude of what's really going on here.

find

s in the

barn

. This is finds in the barn multiplied by two or three hundred. Hey, take a look, there's a little bit of everything here, we have customs, we have low mileage cars that have been out of sight for 20, 30, 40 years. This collection was started in the late 70's and when the gentleman bought cars, he kept them. here and other buildings in the area and they haven't been seen by the public since they were bought at auctions or private collections or whatever, no one has seen this so we welcome you to be taking a

first

look at this point Holly us gave. the

first

car by car tour to build one of three in total, one of ten in the country, lasting approximately 30 minutes of footage as we walk through the maze to find the first of many cars I was asked to detail and this one was the bitsarini

p538

of which wikipedia claims there could be two or even six in the entire world if you want to see the uncut tour of building number one be sure to hit the subscribe button to be notified of my next full tour episode.

Please note that if not all of these cars are for sale, there is an email in the description if you would like to speak to someone about purchasing a car that you saw in this episode or any future episodes after the tour. I asked Holly why now, after 30 or so. They're coming up for sale for years, so what's really going on here is that the owner has had a great time collecting all these babies all these years since he was 18 or 19, but now it's time to let them see the world again. the light of day and let someone else enjoy them, so Larry, that's why we brought you here to help us fix some of them up a little better, bring them back to life and make them look better for people like you and let someone else enjoy them. play with them, enjoy them and make them smile because I think that's what collecting cards is all about, what makes you smile, but remember that there are three buildings, so it goes on and on and on, the truth is that I only saw one building and maybe a half of another during my visit and the hardware I was told was in building number three is even crazier than what I saw in buildings one and two, so I'm dying to take a look at what's there behind door number three if and when I will definitely take them with me on the tour, but for now let's let the bitzerini be detailed and ready for auction.
Well, first thing we need to do now that we find the bitzerini among the eight million cars that seem to be. Here, uh, it's to install some lights, so we have some lights, as you can see right here, but certainly not enough to illuminate anything. We're running extension cords all over the floor. I'm holding the camera because, uh, there are so many. Honestly, there are a lot of people here right now and we're making sure everything stays the way it should. If you look at, for example, this Dodge Dart, you look at the amount of original dust and everything on the car, I mean. every single one of them was like this and I couldn't even see half of the cars that are here just to be honest with you like this one here I mean look at this from what they told me there's only one of one like this is a race car from oldsmobile, I mean, look at this, another Lamborghini GT40, I mean, they're everywhere and there's no lighting, so again back there we have to set up some kind of makeshift detail area, uh, with some lights, but this one should be the most ridiculous detail I have ever done in my life.
I guess it makes sense. On many cars, you will probably have as many tires with as much light as we could get based on the outlets available in the warehouse. We evaluate the current situation. condition of the paint and interior, then the rear trunk lid was removed, revealing the v8 powered chevrolet according to wikipedia, the only two known v8 bitzerinis were owned by the duke of austa which was a unique coupe version of the

p538

because the duke it was super tall and didn't fit in the existing car and the other one was owned by Giuliano at Ital Design.
It's fair to say that not much is known about where all the cars went. These were the only V8s that could be reliably confirmed as Bitzerini built in the 1960s during the 1950s Giado Bitzerini worked as chief engineer at Ferrari on projects such as the 250 GTO 250 TR and the short wheelbase 250 GT, some of the most desirable ferrari ever made, but in 1961 he left ferrari and formed his own company betsarini in 1963. and after all my research, no one is entirely clear about what happened over 50 years ago, as there has been no accounting correct of p538, so finding this locked up for 30 years is quite rare, this is number zero zero three and if that wasn't enough.
After the detail, I was told that the owner also owns the number zero zero four, so this will be a historically significant detail. The first step was to use foam ammunition to lift and remove 30 years of dust and debris from the surface just to get an idea of the true state of the paint, the same kind of idea as a patient taking off their clothes before surgery, the Surgeon can't really fix what he can't see properly now in my case, even if he had access to a hose, obviously, I'm not in the back of a warehouse, this is an open cockpit and a non-watertight race car, which It's exactly why I originally created foam years ago and it's now become super popular with car owners in apartment or drought cities. areas that don't have access to water or garden hose with the first layer of debris removed, some areas had what looked like splatters or something that was actually stuck on so we let the foam sit for a few minutes to soften whatever it was and finally it came off.
Same kind of steps on the mirrors, this was just years of hardened dust or whatever and the rest would need to be polished later, but we're already making progress with all the tools and extra parts we got off the car quickly. I vacuumed the carpets and seats with our battery-powered vacuum while using compressed air to dislodge dust from the floor-mounted seats to vacuum them up a little easier. I then cleaned the seats, they looked good but the condition was somewhat unknown so To do this I used a foaming interior cleaner for a few initial wipes along with a soft bristle interior brush.
Think of it similar to the cutting technique when working with heavily oxidized paint. It's the same kind of concept here when the interiors are really dirty, old or unfamiliar, it's best to focus on a preliminary or soft cleaning phase, first just to remove the top layer of debris and then evaluate how the interior holds up after noticing what the towel looked like. after a few wipes it was dirty but no black dye had transferred to the microfiber towel which is good as the first interior tests worked well we repeated the steps on the remaining interior surfaces once finished and from the seats .
We were responding well to this agitation, we increased the cleaning power by half a step to do this, covered the leather with ammo foam and then used a steamer with a towel wrapped around the head so the stiff bristles were not exposed. The introduction of heat increases the cleaning capacity. of a chemical while opening the pores of the material to help release dirt in the cleaning process. This should only be done after attempting a successful initial test. There was a spot on the seat that was very stubborn, so we used a direct spray nozzle to heat up the goo and then clean it off.
This step was repeated several times to avoid overheating the surface or scratching the material. After a few minutes of cleaning and heating the goo was released and the seat was not damaged in the process. With the seats now clean and warm, we massaged leather conditioner from moose with ammo on the seats because they were super dehydrated to say the least and within seconds they absorbed all the conditioner so we had to keep adding more conditioner throughout the day as some areas absorbed more than others leaving back dried spots, which is very common on old seats in this condition, so I used some steam on the outside of the car, which I normally don't recommend due to lack of lubrication, however, in this case I was using pressure of the steam engine.
To remove dirt and dust from the intricate areas around the fuel, I filled the emblems and mirror fittings, then clayed the paint using foam as a lubricant, it didn't come off much but there were a few spots with bumps and contamination that I did not. I don't want to interfere with my pad polishing combination considering the less aggressive approach. We use the foam pad and light polish to slowly remove the top layer of dead skin before we can safely continue after years of swirling. You must first remove the top. dry layer of paint, otherwise the residue is likely to interfere with the conservation process.
Notice the difference from left to right. It's almost as if there is a thin layer of enamel that has been metaphorically peeled off, allowing us to work effectively in the swirl safely. Now keep it in Keep in mind that with a single stage paint this old, you will need to remove residue frequently to keep the pad as clean as possible, giving you the best cut and finish than the pad and liquid combination can achieve after polishing the paint at speed. 3 with medium downward pressure the top layer of dead skin seemed to come off with no surprises which was encouraging as you can see step one was a big difference compared to the similar original paint on the noble on the left side of the screen, but I could only lean over to polish the bottom half of the paint on the driver's side because the bitzerini was parked so close to the noble that I couldn't reach that bottom part.
After lunch we returned and noticed that the car had been moved by the owner who doesn't want to be on camera so we could access the rear quarter and rear wheel now with a little more room. He was working on the lower parts of the driver's side while Dan focused on the mirrors that had a ton of smudges and caked-on dirt to clean. He used a microfiber cutting pad on a 3-inch dab with polish to remove the stains, which looked much better, but certainly weren't perfect when he finished afterwards. -we polished the areas that needed a little more work and focused on the three inch tool in the tight areas with all the wheels easily accessible, now we steam cleaned them and plumbed wheel cleaner on the rubber and the wheel itself to lift dirt. and dirt safely before

wash

ing or wiping with a microfiber towel, the before and after are huge.
We then focused on the engine, which required us to remove the coverrear, revealing the 327 cubic inch naturally aspirated Chevy Corvette V8 with four Weber carbs on top. Pushing 355 horsepower mated to a five-speed manual transmission with racetrack-specific gears, the engine sits atop a tubular frame wrapped in a fiberglass body that weighs just over 2,000 pounds. The name p538 is derived from the word posterior or posterior for the letter p. while the 538 represents a 5.3 liter v8 hence p538 now prices range from 750,000 to a million dollars but that is based on its condition and heritage so with that said we carefully vape the engine to remove dust and spider webs, but overall it was in very good shape afterwards, we cleaned the tight spots to remove any remaining moisture and cleaned the jams and the engine compartment before gently reinstalling the rear cover after to quickly clean the small windshield with the three-towel method and add another layer of leather.
Conditioner for really thirsty seats, we apply two coats of reflective coating for protection and that wet look we all want, especially before going out in public for the first time in over 30 years. Well, guys, we're done and the pizzeria looks amazing, no doubt. a before and after compared to the noble here we have a lot of work ahead of us in a future episode now if you are interested in some of these cars that are for sale.
